I really like the services there, the staff are very nice and friendly. One thing I don't like is that I could hear everything in the hallway, there's isn't any noise reduction or cancelation.
The staff are amazing! Super friendly and warm. They will go beyond expectations. If you don't have a sea view you will get a side view of a wall and when the window is open you can hear the outside generators
Loved the kindness of staff and funny drag shows as well as seven size room for the money. Super slow elevator, thin walls were not fun when you have couples coming in screwing loudly at 4am. Wasn't sure I saw any of the staff wash hands when dealing with breakffast so I chose to never order the full English breakfast. Not sure rooms were vacuumed.
the comfortable clean modern and quiet rooms No
friendlyness of staff.location.cleanliness n/a
Very pleasant and helpful staff. The reception area and dining area were very cold. I also felt that the music in those areas was a bit loud and dominating. The double bed was smaller than anticipated.
Hotel staff were excellent, very helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Excellent value for money.
Hotel staff is good!!! the family room is too small.
Very handy for railway station city centre only one small thing ,I felt the sausages at breakfast were not fully cooked
Convenience for the railway station. Friendly staff.
Everything was clean and brand new as it was opening night. Very friendly welcoming irish chap working on reception made good impression upon arrival. The staff did not seem to have had much training prior to opening particularly in the bar so did not know how to prepare drinks ie. I was served a cold hot chocolate! A member of staff was rebuked by a manageress (I think) in a very unpleasant tone in front of customers, I personally do not like staff being treated that way, take it to the office please!
modern and clean noisy at night with lots of hen/stage parties
all of the above (2) the smell
The staff were very friendly. The bar and lobby areas were nice and modern and the breakfast was great. Good location for the beach but a bit of a walk to the shops. The room was quite basic for the money and didn't resemble any of the photos featured on the site. The shower had poor water pressure and took ages to heat up - maybe something to do with being on the 5th floor. The heating was on way too high and the room felt like a sauna.
Location was great perfect sea view
Location, good b'fast Lack of parking
Expensive on street parking
the staff were friendly i got a good room with sea views the room was clean bit basic but perfect for the night. the breakfast was good but cold
conveinient location price
All requests were handled very professionally. By day 2 of a 5 day stay I was treated with a smile and greeting on every occasion. N/A
Hotel is located at the sea front. Room was very small and hotel needs some renovation.
The welcome was very friendly and a good location. The single rooms are very small with small windows and no view. The rooms desperately need refurbishing and updating but they were clean.
the above mentioned made my stay a relaxing one and a memorable one. will definitely come back again.
Friendly, helpful staff. Clean and quiet. Good location on seafront. Nice little bar. Good value for money. Booked a double room for myself and then my son and his friend found the hostel unacceptable so booked a single for his friend and my son shared with me. Staff very helpful.
Great location and the public areas are nice. My room was like stepping back into the 70s. It was tired and dated with mismatching outdated furnishings. The bathroom sink kept blocking, the aircon didn't work and the mattress was lumpy. This room was not worth the money I paid (£100). Tip: ask for a refurbished room.
My wife and I booked your hotel to celebrate my 60th birthday and our 39th wedding anniversary, we were most impressed with all aspects of the hotel. The staff were all helpful, courteous and friendly. The food was really excellent with a wide variety of choice. Although the view from our room overlooked the roof area this did not bother us, the comfort and cleanleness more than compensated us. having to leave
the best in many things comfort and value for the money
staff and location Room decoration is poor and in need of much updating all over, especially in the bathrooms.General cleanliness is lacking
Parking was easy and very good value for Brighton. Breakfast was excellent. Room was very comfortable. Although a twin room was booked this was not available, fortunately this was not imperative but may have been!!. The bar staff's command of english could have been better.
Breakfast, swimming pool, steam room and jacuzzi Could only access bed from one side, as pushed against wall , and only one pillow each - second morning not able to have our breakfast in the Windsor restaurant, the other restaurant no windows and no sea views -
fine spacious hotel tghere was was leakimg water in the abthroom
The room and the bathroom were spacious and well decorated. The bar and resturant were very good and the breakfast was excellent. The squeeky bed and lots of the furniture in our room and the bar were a bit saggy and could do with an update.
Breakfast lots of choice good service
The accommodation was clean, the reception area was impressive and the breakfast was good value. The room was very small and the bathroom was extremely tiny. The bathroom had a broken shelve in it (which hadn't been repaired!) and the shower (which looked powerful) was actually a trickle.
Going to the seaside because it was very near! The breakfast was good. There was no parking facilitlies and the nearest parking was 20minutes away.
The helpfulness of the hotel staff
Great location and ....... No that's it! hotel needs to be brought up to standard! New beds new showers painting. Cleaning and tidying up. Pick the smoking rooms it hide the smell of mold. Poor value for money. If every where else is fully booked look to sleep in you car
position next to the seefront. Old fashioned Hotel. Excellent Brekfast. Price 26 Pound per night! Run down Hotel. in process of refurbishment. Had a room in the cellar!! No sun light! at all. Wallpaper coming down, Cold with no proper heating
The room that we were given was the worst I have ever stayed in. The room was very damp with a large damp area outside the bathroom that was covered with a mat. Staff were very unhelpful regarding this fact.
Furniture in room old and battered, whole hotel seemed to have a faded glory feel, no mushrooms at breakfast.
Rooms are below a night club and are very loud at night, breakfast was great but took 40 mins queing to get it.
Right on sea front in the middle of Brighton Rooms need updating
Location is excellent, price I got was very cheap, Breakfast was good, but boring!! Hotel is very tired looking, sooms are not quiet as there is no double glazing, room furnishings are old and carpets and furnishings worn out.
the sea view! Fab!!
friendly efficient staff, cleanliness, comfy bed no tea/coffee in our room, no window to outside, enquired about plug adapter i left in room, no reply.
location and facilities room service was rubbish, ordered toilet rolls, paper & ice and glasses that never turned up
Staff very friendly. Quiet night. Location great. Smart decor.
Amenities and location Checking in was at 14:00 hours, upon arriving half an hour early, no check was permitted to see if room was ready earlier, so guests had to wait and then queue to 14:00 hours. Other hotels do check room availability and if available let you check in earlier to avoid a queue.
Sea view Slow check in
The service and staff were excellent. The room was of a very high standard and the location was perfect. The breakfast that we had from room service was very good but could have done with being a bit warmer.
The restuarant waiter at dinner was very good - but as there were only 3 dining this probably was why. Room much too hot (was promised cooler in room but it didn't appear), access to car park dirty and smelly, car parking expensive, I was annoyed that a gratuity was added to bill for (the expensive) dinner, breakfast was expensive, and the room was not made up until 3.00pm. It also a pity that some staff have difficulty understanding english. It was rude to have to sign the slip for breakfast before being shown to a table - the implication that you might not pay. Corridors were in need of redecoration. The lounge area was not very good.
Arrived at 6.30am after flight from Australia and was able to check into my room. Also got an upgrade at no cost. Internat should be free - however, very few hotels offer this.
Access to town. Breakfast, though expensive, was fantastic. Dirty cutlery at breakfast. I had to get up four times to get myself cutlery - which I stole from other tables.... I had to ask for toast.
The location was excellent, on one side the sea front on the other the town. Could walk anywhere easily. The reception staff also very efficient. The bed was very hard. The inner courtyard meant that we were overlooked by other windows and the people sitting below eating and drinking. It was also a very hot room but if you had the window open it was only to the inner courtyard where music was played. This meant that it was overpriced for what you got.
Refreshingly unusual hotel, helpful staff with a "can do" approach, quirky room/bathroom, delicious buffet breakfast. Inadequate storage space for clothes; they have to be hung over the only mirror and there are virtually no shelves; and drying hair is challenging without a socket with a nearby mirror! Also the semi- transparent loo door might be a problem for some guests. A case of style over function perhaps?
Central location was good and the staff friendly May suit some but hated the rubber flooring in the room. Hate having a room that you cannot open the window, very stuffy. Room didnt have that fresh clean look/feel. Dreadfull outlook ...a blank white wall 3ft from window.
Funky design, genuinely friendly check in, largish room, super shower, comfortable bed, nicely designed reception area, excellent location. The see through door to the loo and no mirror over the sink even though there were mirrors either side of the sink, it just felt strange.
Bright coloured decor that made you feel welcome.. Location great also..
We loved the style and freshness of the bedrooms and the bathrooms were the best that we have encountered. Our room had huge bay window with a view over the busy street which was great for "people watching". Myhotel is located in town, approx 5 minutes from The Lanes, 10 minutes from the sea and surrounded by bars, pubs and restaurants. The hotel also has a couple of bars that are just perfect for the start and end of the evening. Just a bright new place to stay in Brighton away from the sea front hotels that are rather tired and staid in comparison. The one disappointment was the breakfast. It's not a bad breakfast; it just suffers in comparison with many of the offerings, locally. Also, we witnessed regular confusion with the restaurant staff about whether, or not, breakfast was included in the rate. The solution is to avoid the breakfast and go to "Bills" around the corner or one of the many other breakfast places within in few steps of the front door.
friendly staff, great cocktail bar, very contemporary rooms although pink is not my colour (better half chose this!!) was excellent and the Location was perfect for christmas shopping and restaurants. The room service food selection was very poor, we really wanted a pizza, sandwich etc but could only get a cheese and bread board.
Loved the decor. Great location. Will definitely stay at My in Brighton again. Had to change room as several of the lights did not work in the first one. Staff vey friendly and co-operative re the room change
Lovely modern, funky style rooms, very friendly. Very difficult to find!
Design, quietness, easy check in and out, great location Bed very small for two people. Chipped basin, shower had to be held to point in right direction
Food amazing, staff great, room fantastic. Excellent atmostphere - a long the lines of Hotel Babylon! highly recommended No plug for hairdryer by mirror which was the only thing i could find wrong!
Excellent service, handy location Both bedside lamps did not work, cannot open window (catch broken), very stuffy at night (no fresh air)
The position in Brighton, we stay quite often as my son lives in Brighton and it is the first time I noticed your hotel. I found the hotel room unwelcoming and the bathroom was so small you couldn't turn arround in it. My daughter and I had trouble trying to get ready at the same time. The colours were a bit "in your face" I know I am older than perhaps most of your guests, but even my son and daughter thought it was not very restful. We also had to move rooms as the television did not work. The rooms were over the bottle bins and they were being filled most of the evening and emptied at about 6am on Monday morning which I realise someone has to stay in those rooms but if everything else had been OK it wouldn't have been a problem. It was a nice hotel but for me a little bit too modern. Also the reception desk was far too small to do anything on.
There was nothing that we particularly liked. Our room was poorly appointed with the window opening on to a tall narrow totally enclosed area that was extremely dirty. We did mention this to management. The room was also very small and, due to the ventilation issue, stuffy. Generally the hotel is very tired. I would not stay here again.
Computer facilities within the room
There is a car park at the hotel which is convenient, extra charge of £15 per night. The hotel needs re-decorating but the room was ok.
The location of the hotel, right on the sea front was excellent. The smoking rooms faced a brick wall, not enough tea, coffee, milk or sugar in the room, although advertised as having tea and coffee making facilites, there was only enough for one cup each! Also we wer appalled that the hotal wanted us to pay £10 to park in the hotel car park when we had already paid enough for the room..not very customer focused, when some of the hotels along the front offered free parking to customers. Not all customers travel by public transport!
1. We ate once at the hotel, Hadock, this tasted strongly of Smoked Makrel, and was obviously prepared without cleaning surfaces or utensils. Most staff struggled with their English and some to an extent that we could not understand them, (I am from Reading) Room was Very small.
Having to wait until 2pm to check in while other guests were allowed to check in earlier.
We stayed in room 200, the room was very hot, even when we used the room fan it stayed very hot. I was unable to sleep because it was so uncomfortable. I also belive the room was a single room and not a double room as requested. We had to wait over 2 hours for our room to be ready and we only found out it was ready because we asked!!
A technical error was made and we were accidentally assigned a room that already had an occupant. The reception staff was only too happy to upgrade us to a superior room by way of apology.
The room was large Hotel was tired and in need of brightening up, which. One member of staff covering reception and the bar on Friday night. Check your bill, as some mistakes did occur.
the breakfast was nice and staff helpful The bed was not very soft with a spring mattress, and room quite small alot of noise from outside of people shouting
There was nothing outstanding or impressive The room was too hot. The shower space extremely narrow. The emergency exit in a dire state.
Position of hotel always been good I feel hotel both inside and outside needs a lick of paint starting to look drab especially outside. Decoration is really quite poor compard to when I used to stay.
location, helpful porter decor, breakfast, view over side street and too noisy early am
A small housekeeping item was pointed out 3 times but not actioned (faulty kettle)
Nice big room, plenty space to include the baby buggy. Excellent location right on seafront, very close to the Pier. Right on Town Centre for shopping. Expensive parking on site. Room right outside next door Fish & Chip shop, open until 4am which was noisy for baby, room was on left side of building, a room on other side may have been quieter.
On arrival we were allocated a room. On openeing the room there was already another guests luggage in there. We were then given another room which the pass card did not open. A third room was then allocated which we were able to access. My concern in this matter is that the first room had already been allocated and we were able to access it. Not the most secure system, which left us feeling very unsure about leaving anything in our room.
It was quiet, comfortable and clean with a nice size double room, the ensuite was modern stylish and clean, the hotel was central to the town and had pleasant sitting areas and breakfast room. The self service cooked breakfast was good, a continental style breakfast was also available. A minor point: The last guest's towel was still hanging on the back of the en-suite bathroom door.
The staff were very friendly and the location was excellent. We felt very rushed when we ate in the restaurant on the Saturday evening, we had to ask the waiting staff a couple of times to give us more time to decide what we wanted to eat. Also the fruit left in our room looked very old.
close to everything in brighton, excellent room over looking the beach
Position geographically, close to beach and shops. Meeting point for every stag and hen night in front of hotel, because the rooms where so warm you had to have the windows open and the last talking stopped at 5.30 am and the traffic took over at 7.00am
The staff were very friendly and helpful especially the spanish lady working in the bar during the day on 14th and a cleaner (man) who helped us when our card key wouldn't work.
Excellent location, would definitely use again.
excellant breakfast, helpful staff bar prices!
Location The rooms and en suite were small and the overall feel of the decoration was very second rate. The bathroom shower was stained and the taps stiff. The beds were small, not the king size advertised. The carpets in the room were stained and in the corridors were in a disgraceful state. More of a boarding house feel than a supposedly quality hotel.
convenient location - good breakfast
there should be no charges for parking on the hotel car park this has certainly put us off going there again at £36 per car we had 2 made it an expensive deal and could of got a better hotel with better facilities and parking included for what we ended up paying... you live n learn!!!
Friendly waitresses and good breakfast. Reception area looked a little shabby and smelled of cigarette smoke.
position of hotel lobby very poor - needs refurbishment. Hotel staff confused and not helpful
The location was excellent. Easy to find and a short walk from the Brighton Centre, which was my reason for the trip to Brighton. The room was very small and very hot with not much ventilation. Parking was also an issue. In the morning, reception had to phone me to come and move my car so another guest could leave. I was parked ok, but the car park was so small that it was very difficult to park..... and it was £15 a night.
really near all good places in brighton Not very clean... Bed very uncomfortable..... Shower Not working properly.......Room very small.... Paid for a superior room hate to see what a standard room would be like there not very good standards
The view was ok as we got an upgrade to a superior room. The shower did not work and the floor of the room was unlevel.
Convenient location for tourist to the city. Pleasant helpful staff. Good breakfast. Absence of door hooks in bathroom / toilet for towels , dressing gowns etc. no mirror in shower room.
friendliness of staff. The room was simple but really nice. The whole hotel was comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble. Very reasonably priced. Would definately stay there again.
Room was really small, and had to climb lots of stairs with no elevator.
very helpful staff
The hotel was amazing and excellent value for money. The staff were extremely helpful and made our stay as carefree as possible. Rooms were of a good size, and contained all the nescesities needed. Definately reccomend to others.
The hotel had been tastefully refurbished and had a pleasant atmosphere. Good breakfast and friendly service. Good value and location, handy for the town and beach.
customer service, nice breakfast at sister hotel New Steine hotel.
comfy bed and breakfast the room smelt of cigarettes
very attentive staff very good location mattress on the bed very uncomfortable lumpy and springs
Comfortable, reasonable and ideally located with very friendly and helpful staff
Fantastic stay - really enjoyed the hotel.
Cleanliness and friendly staff
Extremely friendly and helpful staff, lovely room, spotlessly clean, great breakfast (they even had veggie sausages - as a vegetarian for 27 years I've found most '5-star' hotels do not). So now, whenever I have to go to Brighton, this is where I will stay!
On our arrival, one of the owners jumped in the car to take us to an available parking space which was a great help. We were shown to our room which was bright and clean with a contemporary style. As we were out quite early both mornings and therefore missed breakfast we were given freshly made bacon sandwiches to take with us which was a nice addition. We felt the price was a bit expensive and the shower could have been a power shower.....especially after a day of kite surfing!!
Genuine warm welcome...everywhere was sparkling with cleanliness...and loved by the owners. Lovely breakfast options and terrific service. Secure entry system.Extremely comfortable...
The location was the best thing about this hotel. It is in need of a complete overhaul. The whole place is cramped, our room was crammed with fake tudor furnishing which were cheap and falling apart. If you get make-up on the towels, they want to charge you between £10-£20 per towel, the whole bale would not cost that much new. Sea view was spoilt as the condensation build up in the morning between the window and double glazing ruins the view.
The sea views were excellent! Low standards!
fair value for the price
The bed was very comfortable. Room tiny. The bed took almost all the room. Room not made up on seciond day. Secondary double glazing so deteriorated by age it looked like a seaa mist had set in! Light in the bathroom not working. Everything worn and dated.
None Cold shower when asked to sort was told it was 'warm enough' service was disgusting, asked to speak to manager but was not available
Good location, pretty view of the seafront if you have a sea view The room was very small, not at all value for money. Seems they would try and charge you for anything.
I liked everything about the hotel. Staff, the bar, the rooms, etc. I had a family style room, it had two small twin beds that kept separating.
Great location close to the train station. Clean and functional with good service.
Good old fashioned hotel in a fantastic seaside location, The Grand offers a calming atmosphere mixed with special personal service to make all guests feel welcome. The staff couldn't enough for us 10/10. Walking up the Victorian staircase, But having said that there are also two lifts available.
everything was brilliant especially the breakfast there was so much choice.service throughout hotel was great and rooms and hotel very clean.it is a very grand hotel hence the name.plus great location opposite the beachfront with 5 minute walk to the pier.
the helpfulness of all the staff was absoultely brilliant the price of room service and the mini bar was extortionate
It was right next door to Paul Weller concert Small bedroom
The service was excellant, especially when trying to resolve issues. The location was great. The room was far too hot and to cool it down had to use air con unit which was located behind the curtains, absolutely no use when sleeping. The Tv was fauty and had interference. the shower curtain needed replacing as it was not adequate with the power of th shower and splurged water all over the floor, making it slippery and dangerous. There was a function on the saturday evening which we could hear the music to 3 floors up, although the staff offered us another room at 1 in the morning, the bed was tiny; so not suitable at all. Late check out was denied enough though we were too tired to face the long drive home and no discount as an apology for inconvienences. Very disappointing for a hotel of this standard so thus would not recommend.
Breakfast v good for money Abit worn out in places needs decor refresh
The only problem was a bathroom sink that didn't drain and a long line for the reservation desk. Other than these issues it was lovely.
facilities, getting a sea view as a free upgrade, staff friendly.
location & service Price especially parking costs
Very very good staff, attentive and very helpful Charged for using a credit card to pay my bill so I will never use or allow my staff to use a De Vere Hotel ever again, bed uncomfortable
Feedback is just ok As i said before, it was a bit tatty
Great spot, excellent and comfortable accomodationand friendly helpful staff.
The staff were exceedingly friendly and helpful. Hotel in great location and the room was very clean and comfy. None
The location was excellent, and the checkin was smooth and professional. No parking
nice stylish rooms
Very contemporary and modern. Great breakfast. A fabulous base from which to experience Brighton
Fridge was loud at night. Windows need to block out more sound. Need a proper door between the room and the toilet (not great for a new couple). Remote control got the tv so you can actually use the dvd.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Room very good. Excellent hotel for a young couple
The big mirror on the wall by my bed, well the missus liked it............
the room was magnificient, lovely bed, great view and easy to get into town. parking was a little troublesome.
Nice decor and lovely breakfast Things were broken; no guest information in first room (had to be moved to second room after two mornings of no hot water in shower). The online booking timed out the first time and I had to do it again. The worst thing was the lack of hot water and that really overshadowed everything else. We were given a discount, but one morning of cold showers should be enough.
Excellent Manager. Delicious breakfast. None.
david the manager was so accomodating. and welcoming.
Very friendly welcome, lovely well presented and clean hotel. Excellent location, near the pier and pavillion, walking distance to shopping areas. None
The Manager could not do enough for us, relaxing and a great first weekend away togther, yummy food and snacks and we were in a great location the fact we couldnt stay longer
NIce Decor, friendly staff and good breakfast, ideal short break
Central and not to noisy. Good breakfast. Owner at your service. Cleanness of the room and bathroom not good. Hairs, papers, etc
Gorgeous room. Lovely staff. Close to the city centre and beach front. I absolutely recommend Kempfield House!
The staff were very friendly and helpful. My partner is very particular about cleanliness in hotels but even she was impressed. 10 out of 10. No outdoor smoking area except standing on the street outside the front of the hotel
Neat, clean and quiet. Well-supplied with extras like free drinks and bath robes. Really far from conference venues
Warm welcome glass of wine tea making facilities parking major problem
The location is great easy access to the beach, pier and town and the lanes.
The hotel was very nice and it was nice to be upgraded from a twin room to a family one at no extra charge. Very convenient for the Brighton Centre and shopping which is the reason we came.
The food was excellent
sea view we had no parking facilities so had to struggle a little bit .
The leisure facilities. The reception staff very poor and inpolite.
location, friendliness of staff
the room was lovely. desk staff helpful. breakfast was chaos- not enough cutlery (people trying to eat bacon & eggs with spoons!), queing to sit at tables, food running out and not being replaced despite requests ( twenty minute wait for croissants!). duty manager hopeless. healthclub dirty and very run down.
The Spa situated in the Hotel Our room was located opposite a pub. The noise was so loud it was a bit difficult to sleep.
Pool and spa area. Food was good, excellent location. Dated bathroom, scaffolding, could be cleaner.
To much noise heating poor
location great. Beds very comfortable . Room nice and warm during a very cold spell I was very disappointed in the cleanliness of this hotel. The bathrooms especially, some bleach and a toothbrush would be a good idea especially round the taps and to take the black from around the tiles. Attention should be paid to the housekeeping of this hotel. The spa again was not clean, thought we would spend a few hours there but changed our minds when we went in. Again the cleanliness here was poor.
great view from the room car prk is not enough, and need to pay for.
The room was nice with a lot of space. The tv was not tuned in so could not get all the channels on the leaftlet.
i like the hotel near the sea and it is not so far from city center the service, the reception did not smile
very kind staff, good position. wall of the room less sound-proof
Staff was very helpful Room had broken windows, cold, dirty and small rooms, also hard to reach if carrying luggage.
staff were fantastic Very chilly rooms and having to pay cash for coffee rather than put it on a tab!!!!!??
It was the best hotel experience so far! Better than a 5 star!so comfortable lovely people, nice room, very luxurious!
Friendly, clean, helpful, great breakfast, sea front location, on site parking and all at a very inexpensive price
Location smell in the room and in the WC, problems with water, poor work of heater, not clean at all
Location. Great staff. Allowed early check in. Called prompt taxi when leaving. Nice bar. Excellent sunset viewing from their outside patio. Would be hot. No AC
The staff were very friendly, we had to wait for a while to book in because they had mixed up some booking, but they gave us a complimentary drink, it was clean very confable the only thing I though was odd was the tea, coffee milk kettle ect was in a drawer, it took us a while to locate it
