Three adults, including myself, stayed here a day before and after a cruise. The hotel was a great price and offered three single beds and a very large bathroom. Being from the U.S. with limited public transportation where I live, I did not realize that the tram is different than the train. We thought we could take the tram to and from the airport and port, but you need to take a taxi, so that was a little disappointing. The tram is an excellent way to get downtown, though. You pay right on the tram, 7.50 Euros for 24 hours. The staff was extremely helpful in giving directions regarding navigating the city and helping answer a variety of questions. They even ordered taxi pick up for us. No cotton washcloths No alcohol on the premises Small refrigerator No ice? Limited dining in the area Must take a taxi to/from airport or port, the train is too far to walk with luggage The price the hotel quoted us for the taxi was incorrect. The taxi companies charged more.
Ideal place for the young couple with the habit of being always online
staff was very accommodating. : internet access; the snack area I asked for 2 beds and did not know the rooms only had one bed; the shower leaked all over the room; the sink drained slowly; I did not like the bathroom and shower open to the room. No desk; no place to put your luggage; no desk; no place to watch TV unless you sat on the bed
A big bed and a see-through shower The shower leaked, it was no great problem however
Smart design Seems a little impractical (wrt the bathroom facilities) for the first time user. May be one will get used to but given this was my first time, I was not very impressed.
For people going to the rai exhibition centre, the location is excellent. Its a short walk through a pleasant park. Citizen m is not for me. I found it pretentious, amateurish and over- ppriced. The staff are all youngsters in t-shirts and baseball boots. The breakfast was terrible and eaten at high stools to loud techno music. Check-in and check-out are done on computers and you have to pay an extra fee to use a credit card - the only time I have ever been asked to do this in a hotel. The room was uncomfortable with the bed filling the window end and the shower, lavatory and wash-basin (the size of a coffee cup) in the room with you. There was the feel of the 1960s cult tv programme, The Prisoner, about it.
CitizenM is a quite stylish place to stay in Amsterdam. Downtown is easy to reach taking the tram. The entertainment system and the large bed add a great value to the comfortable atmosphere in the room.
I liked the unique design, mood lighting, and automation of the bedrooms. The canteen and lobby are a great idea and are very comfortable. Most of the staff were fantastic. There are parking issues, especially on weekends. Most parking metres operate on prepaid cards and the closest cash metre was 3 blocks away and only accepted coins, which at over €21 was a lot of change. One lady at hotel refused to make change for me and forced me to go into the shops several blocked away and told me it's not their problem.
Ideal for design lovers. I have particularly appreciated to spend time in the different areas of the lobby where you can feel to be like at home. Downtown can be easly reached with bus n. 5. Older people might find difficulties in dealing with such a technological hotel.
The hotel is nice, warm and very well located beside the tram line to town. I was worried it was a little far out but with the tram across the street you're only about 10minutes from centraal. There is no privacy really in the bedrooms - the way the shower and toilet are you would really want to be very comfortable with who you're travelling with!
I picked the place as it was close to the conference I had to attend. I definetely enjoyed my stay. Appreciated the quality of the bed, bedlinen, even shower gel was very good, which is not typical for hotels at all. Hotel is very stylish. You can get a snack and a drink any time of the day and night. Staff was very professional and easy going. Definetelly a yes. I understand that the hotel is not for all the types of travellers. You are not supposed to spend a lot of time inside the room, just change, have a shower, sleep or relax and watch tv. For that purpose rooms is suited perfectly. If you want to work or spend more time in the room, you have to go downstairs. It is really the hotel for the young type of travellers. What distrubed me a bit was the temperature in the room and a bit of noise at night. Nothing dramatic though.
Staying at the hotel was an experience of its own. Amsterdam is great, but I found myself wanting to come back to the hotel to explore all the cool amenities. While the tram is conveniently close, it is a pain to go to and from the city center because it's a 20 minute journey of its own.
We have stayed at this hotel twice now and it is in an excellent central location. The hotel reception is beautiful and the rooms are also in keeping with this. Our recent room was very clean, comfortable big bed and with all the amenities that you would expect. Prior to this we have stayed in one of the suites which are excellent but of course pricey. The general rooms are a good price - not the cheapest but you do get what you pay for. We didnt book the breakfast as this made the room price too expensive.
Very relaxed friendly atmosphere
Calmness Had to pay EUR 100 for 4 days of broadband connection. Should be free inside the hotel.
NH is the ground zero for Amsterdam
המלון עובר שיפוץ בלובי שלא ידענו בעת ההזמנה, אני חושב שזה פרט חשוב לדעת בעת ההזמנה, זה לא היה קריטי אבל רלוונטי. 25-5-2015
The location was the best thing. The rooms were small, inefficient handling of processes and nothing that made me feel it to be a "grand 5* hotel". They should take a lesson from Germans in Efficiency... or another grand hotel in their neighborhood.
Location Scruffy corridors and dark bedrooms
The location Furnishing of the rooms
Check in/ out not very efficient
Top Location, Friendly Staff Rooms, even booked early and got a cheap price, do not match at all a 5 star hotel. The room rate compensated a bit for it, but definitely disappointed by a hotel which has such a famous name.
Nothing exceptional springs to mind Badly stocked mini bar. No 24 hour restaurant/coffee shop
staff wanted 1 bouble and 1 twin room got 2 doubles
The staff was helpful and friendly. Beds were comfortable, but small. No good coffee in the room. Housekeeper did not take a fast food garbage bag out. She left it exactly where I left it. No hotel shuttle, like you would expect with a 4 or 5 *
I do not recommend this hotel.
This is the third visit to the hotel. This is a very clean hotel and we have no complaints about service. The restaurant and bar prices are very high compared with other establishments we visited. The heating in the room was inadequate and we could not get it higher, the weather was very cold at the time of our visit.
They made me sign a pre-authorization with the room rates + 50 euros per day for frigobar (so expensive). When I did my check out (I paid in cash) they couldn't cancel this pre-authorization with the machine (they sent a fax to the credit card office) and I am always very afraid of this kind of cancellation. I had to change my room 3 times (the door didn't close well, they gave me a double bed but I have asked for 2 sigle beds, etc). They didn't have someone to help with the luggage (when I arrived and left the hotel).
A fantastic hotel with superb staff. Very helpful and welcoming.
Friendly staff, comfortable beds. Breakfast was to expensive so we went out to eat.
Service wonderful! Only complaint, a/c not strong enough
The hotel overall was ok. The room was clean and had nice amenities. The staff was polite. I was a bit disappointed that we had a hard time getting a hold of room service on a couple of occasions. Also, we were awakened by loud noises made by the staff on the first morning after we arrived. We were exhausted from travel and could not go back to sleep because of the distractions.
The room was great, the staff was very nice, and I had a great experience overall. The restaurant is pricey. I ate dinner in town. Breakfast is reasonable, if you reserve it the night prior. Good food though.
We very much liked the hospitality in your hotel especially during breakfast the staff was helpful and gave us a comfortable feeling It was a pity that the shower was leaking into the bathroom and the water gathered round the toilet which made the floor very slippery.
Perfect business hotel - great facilities and attentive staff. Good choice of restaurants within the hotel.
Location and extensive facilities of the Okura; excellent staff and services.
Friendliness of staff. Flexibility of staff. Overall standards do not meet Okura Tokyo.
the location liked every thing
The hotel has great restaurants. My room was in need of a refurbisment and was certainly not 5 star. Shower did not have enought pressure. Cheap toilet paper. Paint at the bottom of the door was completely coming off. I have stayed in better hotels in Amsterdam (e.g. Dylan)
food, concierge, services, fantastic hotel we were charged for bar food that we did not like and sent back to the kitchen. The burger was rare (should not be rare if minced meat) and the chicken was underdone and no 'leeks julienne' was served with it, though advertised on the menu.
The breakfast is great. Over priced - not value for money.
The staff members were friendly and accommodating My room was not cleaned until quite late in the afternoon. I had expected it to be done earlier.
Great health club, very nice deluxe room Air conditioning didn't cool very well, furniture in room had defective drawers, cost of laundry service was outrageous, there isn't a good "normal, everyday" restaurant in hotel - all restaurants are expensive and fancy
I am particularly greatfull to Louis (staff) who made my stay amazingly wonderfull the house keeping.. i recognize that we left the room a mess, but when we came back the only thing they did was the bed! they didn´t reload the mini bar, or clean the tables..
very nice and good hotel. It is little bit far away from the center of the city.
Very clean and comfortable room with all amenities. Courteous, professional, friendly and helpful staff. Good location for museums and public transportation to everwhere.
The view from the hotel was superb & the bed was extremely comfortable.
It is a hotel worth staying. The building is very beautiful, the rooms and view very nice. Also the bar at the ground floor is very exquisite. The only drawback is that one has to walk about 10 minutes to the nearest tram stop.
The wifi fee of EUR 27 is out of market and not acceptable for a business traveller.
Did not feel it was a 5 star hotel. It was booked for an anniversary surprise and we have stayed in nicer 4 star hotels
Excellent service. Deluxe rooms would be more 4 star rather than 5. The hotel is a quite a distance from the centre of Amsterdam but there is a tram service that is good.
Great staff, 10th floor had great view, good breakfast. Location to public transportation not as good as some of the other hotels. Was traveling with girl friends and did not feel comfortable walking to public transport at night. However weather was a factor at this time of year - might have been ok in summer.
- Very comfortable bed and pillows - Nice view - Expected a nicer building and more luxurious room - Inadequate for a 5 star hotel (stayed in better 4 star hotels) - Far from city center, few hundreds meters walk to the tram stop - Overpriced, especially minibar and breakfast
Fast easy check in, nice size room, good breakfast and central location to museums.
The Staff were great The Charge for "Internet " access !!
We liked the mirrors (especially the big one in front of the bed) and also the window between the room and the shower :). We also loved that we could sleep till late. The location is quite convenient, it's very easy to get from and to the airport (Lelylaan station), and also to the city centre (trams 1 and 17). In the shower there was a mild smell of sewer, from the drainage. Also, the toilet should have its own sink.
The room was really nice and comfortable. Very modern with good facilities in the room and hotel. The location was ok only a ten minute walk to the tram which takes you straight into the city of Amsterdam. Was nice to be close to the city but away from all the hustle and bustle. The staff were helpful and advised me and my partner on any information we needed regarding getting to different places we wanted to visit. The Skyy bar on the tenth floor was great. Gorgeous decor and the cocktails were fab!! Overall our trip was really good and would definatly stay there again and recommend to others. The only thing was having to pay to use the sauna in the spa although the swimming pool was free it was expensive to the sauna. Every spa hotel I have stayed in it was free so I wouldn't have expected to have to pay for this.
breakfast was good althought expensive (17 euro pp), a lot of choice. The swimming pool was not that big but okay for a quick swim Using the sauna was an extra cost (10 euro pp), the lounge area was not always clean
Check in time is too late, 15:00.
very good hotel, friendly staff, very nice rooms. expensive breakfast, a little bit far away from the Center
Food parking facilities good isolation from streetnoise view from cocktail bar on top of the building No information of costs of sauna, this was a surprise at check out Water streaming in the bathroom while showering No bathrobes
The room was an absolute fantastic room. Spacious, stylish, comfortable and clean. The staff wereaslo friendly and helpful. Extremely close to the centre although if you are not familiar with the area a sat nav would be an advantage
Good room Room towards the motorway. Earplugs helped.
Clean , tidy Reception was a bit cryptic, not so freindly and lacking in advice
Our stay at the hotel was fantastic, probably one of the nicest hotels we have every stayed in. The price was very reasonable, and it was easy access to the centre of the city. The room was beautiful, and clean. We had a lovely stay, thank you. There was nothing that we didn't like during our stay at the hotel.
The hotel was pretty fine, clean and with good style. Very close to the center. The room was big enought for all family. We didn't got any breakfast at hotel, but during the boat cruise, the stop is very close to the hotel. Miss the boiler for have some tea in the room. The remote control of TV almost died.
soft and comfirtable bed You have to pay for everything such as internet, phone calls, TV, etc. Service was poor. Prices are relatively much higher than other similar hotels.
location There internet.
Nothing !!! Center of Amsterdam
central position for visiting amsterdam Impersonal feeling with pseudo design furniture
good location, great comfortable beds and nice gym and sauna area
hotel staff and clean the Spa
Great geographic location Fee parking for the car Fitting out of the hotel entry not indicated on website. Worse soundproofing of the room windows.
Location and staff Internet services not included in package
very comfortable bed and soft sheets front door was not working so had to use side door
Very nice, staff was very helpful and professional.
Historical hotel. Excellent service. Bed and pillow were not comfortable.
close proximity to tourist destinations. Hotel was within walking distance of major tourist attractions.
Great location - couldn't be better!
It is comfortably situated near public transport services and the city centre. Its value for money was less than poor. It boasted an incredibly expensive breakfast, admittedly including sparkling wine, which for my purpose of stay, however, was totally redundant. With the no more than fair comfort offered, the price ought to have included a humble breakfast as well as complimentary Internet access for hotel guests.
Fantastic position and quality of facilities Nothing
location + staff the bed wasnt comfortable
The location is perfect and the American Bar is the ideal place to hang out for a few hours in the evening. I would like to see more variety on the food menu in the bar.
Centraly located, tram stop, restaurants and shops straight outside the door
Pretty good overall. Very nice cafe-restaurant in the same building. Outrageous internet fee and even worse service when you wnat to use hotel computers
we enjoyed the service & stlye of the staff, the room was out of this world with the most comfortable bed & fantastic views from the balcony, the location was ideal for what we wanted & would recommend the hotel to anyone.
hotel staffs are very helpful, the room is great, clean and comfortable. we booked double room, it's big! the location is great, easy to go to station or airport, we can catch the bus just in front of the hotel. nothing
A truly spectacular property, beautifully fitted, with attentive, friendly but not overly intrusive staff. Amsterdam is a great place to visit; this hotel is almost reason enough on its own. I stayed there twice on the same trip. The first time we upgraded to a suite, and it was beautiful, really a place to relax in and feet at home. The second stay I was alone and had a regular room. It was tiny, but entirely functional. Both rooms were street facing with large windows. The bar is lovely, as well. Be sure to try one (or two or three) of their great gin and tonics. It is rather pricey, but you do get what you pay for.
The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Having to pay for the Internet. For this being a hotel geared toward business travelers that should be included.
I enjoyed the small luxury features of the hotel. This included the nice chocolates/cookies complimentary to the room and the bath robe and slippers in the closet. I did not like the location of the hotel. There was also a bit of construction around the site of the hotel.
This guest did not leave comments about this hotel.
The location and how clean it was. Price for breakfast very high.
Very nice lokation and so frirndly.I Love it No
Rooms were good and towels were terrific Not a great location - surrounded by office buildings - very sterile neighborhood. Everything closed down after 6pm.
Great location, easy access to downtown Amsterdam. Clean, modern, comfortable and reasonably priced.
The hotel is new and the room was very nice, clean, and more than adequate. The staff were very well trained and acknowledged me every time with a ready smile and were anxious to please. The hotel is located in the Business district in Amsterdam, therefore you must travel to any point of interest. Thankfully, it is a short walk to the South Station, which is both a Tram and Train station.
The room was spacious, especially by European standards. There were lovely amenities such as an electric teapot and exresso maker, bottled water and welcome chocolates. It had the most comfortable bed I've ever had in a hotel. The hotel is not in the museum area and it was necessary to walk to the tram which was 4 or 5 blocks to get to the museums. It would have been great if a free breakfast had been offered.
When bidding on Priceline the map is entitled 'Musuem Quarter-Rai Center' Be aware that this decription covers a lot of ground. The hotel I bought was EXCELLENT but a long way away from the Museums Not happy that the map covers more area than one can easily walk in what is mostly a walking city.
The staff members were highly professional. The room was clean. The bedding was comfortable. It is not centrally located in Amsterdam, however, it was just a few stops down the tram line from the city center.
Very close to public transportation. Clean and comfortable. Somewhat sterile neighborhood - on the plus side, it is quiet, but if you are looking for convenient restaurants or bars that are *not* from the hotel itself, you may have a difficult time. No mini fridge other than minibar, and wifi may not be free
Excellent all round! Will definitely stay here on future trips to Amsterdam. No iron or bathrobes!
Hotel staffs were professional and polite. Free Wifi is a bonus! It will be nice if breakfast is included.
Location Being overcharged/ They cached my deposit and failed to return it! (50 Euros)
Excellent location, 3 minute walk from Amsterdam Centraal
Lovely comfortable room, nice decor, loved the dimming lamps. We had to queue to check in, and after our long journey to get there, we were tired and wanted to go up to our room as quick as possible.
The attitude and helpfulness of staff was very good. Cleanliness and presentation was good The location suited us very well The breakfast room was too much of a crush and could have been laid out better. The afternoon coffee and evening bar facilities were given low priority.
The location and the quality, cleaness of the hotel
location, nice hotel
Great staff knowledgeable about area and willing to answer questions and provide direction. Rooms are clean.
The staff are excellent I do Think Ther price is high
WiFi did not work in my room (signal too weak) but worked well in lobby
Good colours, style of reception and breakfastroon was pleasant, fireplace at receiption were really nice. No fitness room at the hotel. Wholefloor carpet is not same style than other things. Corridors ugly.
For such a low price, I was impressed with the ease of travelling to the city centre, great public transport links. No privacy when using the toilet! You could not stay in these rooms with someone unfamiliar, it wouldn't be too hard to at least put a screen up.
Design Room was too cold and heating was not properly.
The noise of the railway on 25th November during the night was so loud that my partner & I had no sleep that evening. In fact I would request a refund as the vibrations & noise werer so disruptive & invasive
Did not like how open the rooms were, no privacy for the bathroom or shower. Would like some separation in the room!
very practical located no door in the wc and no room heating
Large and comfortably beds. Fair Price. 20-30 Min to Centraal Station via Tram The Rooms have no Windows! You even cant see whats the weather like. As we entered the room it was very stinky and we couldnt get some fresh air, because there is no window... And the worst: the bathroom is not separated the room. the toilet is right behind the bed, seperated by one wall but without any door. even if you love your partner there is absolutly no privatsphere. i would never book a hotel like this again.
excellent value for the quality since it was opened for only two days there were some unfinished details that need to be polished.
The bed is very good!
light effects and king size bed rooms smaller than in pictures,no door for bathroom
Close to airport, funky, clean, friendly staff. Not close to many restaurants, not many food options.
Very beautiful and strange
Second stay in the last month at the Qbic. Great hotel, incredible beds and great price.
Great Location, nice facilities in the rood, good staff, very nice in general The waitress in the reastarant was once high :) Breakfast is too expensive.
The business suite was very nice: great bedding, spacious. The staff were helpful. The lobby had electrical and usb outlets. My room was in a construction zone accessible only by stairs!! And construction resumed right outside in the morning. They shouldn't put people there, or should start construction later in the day. I also found it a little odd that there would be no usb jack in a business suite.
situation géographique et le hall This is the list of the main bad points :
People at frontera desk were really helpful, nice bar área rooms are modern and comfortable
Very comfortable I did not get a wakeup call on one day, even though I requested one. Date: July 28,2007
Very good location; in the centre, but in a calm street. I liked the canal view from my room. Very good shuttle service to the airport. I needed someone to explain me how to switch on the central switch in order to have all electric appliances (including the lights) to work. It should be either connected to the opening of the door or made more clear. There was something strange with the pipes of the tap in the bathroom.
the sauna The price of the breakfast was a bit too much, the rooms were already expencive enough to include breakfast.
Location is very good. In the heart of the city. Few minutes walk from the dam square. Breakfast is very good and not too expensive. Air condition is not working in the room. Business rooms are in another building across the street. Rooms are small and not too comfortable. Parking costs 55 euros per day The room is expensive comparing to any other such an hotel in Europe. I was expecting much more...
The location is very good. Located in the heart of Amsterdam, there are many adventures to find that are just a short walk away.
Gorgeous interior in the heart of the old city. Breakfast was incredible and sumptuous. Staff are warm, friendly, and attentive. Location is fantastic. 1. Heating was a major problem. 2. Parking is a nightmare. 3. Shower hot water not as hot as it should be. 4. Complimentary coffee in the lobby area is absent, though one can pay EUR 2-2.50 for a cup. Should be gratis. Once this is attended to, this will be able to achieve deserved greatness.
Superb location, friendly and attentive staff, clean and comfortable. A very good value.
Great view overlooking the Singel Canal Friendly atmosphere Brilliant location
Cosy, friendly staff. No problems no free wifi
Location, Lounge, Coffee and goodies at reception Beds hard
Well situated hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Reasonably comfortable bedroom, although small. Nice clean and well appointed bathroom. Hotel bedroom was rather small and paintwork on windows peeling.
The beautiful classic design interiors. The room as well.
Location, interior design, breakfast, coffee/cakes, most staff Poor window, let in a lot of street noise, with what we paid for 2 nights (c.€380) they could buy a double glazed window (about 4 ft by 3 ft) which would be a big benefit for future users of the room. While most staff were friendly, the receptionist we mostly dealt with was businesslike/efficient rather than friendly. (my wife might use different words!)
The rooms were very nice and clean. The breakfast was excellent. The staff was very kind. My brother lives in Paris and is recommending the Hotel Estherea to any of his friends/associates who are planning to visit Amsterdam. The bar wasn't open until the evening. I would have liked to have a cocktail after I checked in...but there were plenty of places around there to have one - so it was not a big deal.
Everything was excellent. Beautiful old world charm, large spacious room, staff was outstanding in every way with help on questions, places to eat and see and making reservations. No
Loved the hotel and the staff were incredible. Will always stay there in the future. Room are small but beautiful. Rooms facing the canal had very little storage space.
Good location. Not very modern. Adds 10 years to your life. People 50+ loves it I guess...
Nice rooms with large comfy beds. Great location just across from Central Station and the drop off point for the bus to and from the ferry. Staff were friendly and attentive and the price for the room was very reasonable. All in all a great hotel!
Location is strategic, opposite train sation and nearby many attractions -
Location Room was not refurbished
Location and facilities. It was a beautiful hotel. We loved our room. It was great!
It was so easy. Without exception all the staff were as helpful and friendly as could be. Service was first rate. Between them the bars/restaurants and Room service provided a good variety of meals and experience, no chance to get bored there. I found the level of lighting a bit low/dull, particularly in the bedroom. I guess it is fine if you only sleep there, but not if you spend time in your room.
Location is excellent. I have stayed in numerous hotels in Amsterdam and the Barbizon is probably the best. NO
The bedroom was very comfortable The first room I had was very noisy because the double glazing window was broken - they moved me to another room but I felt the first room should not have been available
the room booked was'nt the same room that was shown on the pictures
It a good hotel. One of the best in town. Good location, good room and view.
I had stayed at the Barbizon before and found that it was still up to the same high standards as previously experienced.
great idea was the late checkout on the Sunday Staff very helpful and nice welcome on arrival- rooms were very clean and housekeeping staff did excellent job
Clear and fresh renovated rooms, friendly and helpful staff, easy to reach from subway station I had to wait till 15:00 for check-in, even I asked about my early check-in previously. Extra charges for breakfast. Too expensive rates. Little bit far from the center, need to catch a taxi or get a subway train. Sewer in the shower cabin does not work properly and the water after taking shower poured out from the cabin.
The comfort and cleanliness of the room No
Even though we arrived early, we were able to check in. The hotel is near a tram line, only a 10 minute walk. Room was very quiet.
Clean, modern, parking on site, quiet, close to train station, great restaurant on site, huge double bed, tea coffee facilities in the room None
Good connection to downtown with metro and to vandel park with tram. It has fridge, electric kettle and iron. No air conditioner which may make it warm in summers Cleaning could be better. House keepers were not very careful with cleaning. We saw hairs on the pillows and bed.
The room was a bit cold for November and there was only one blanket in the room.
Very nice hotel for very good price. Huge, comfortable bed. Parking available for 16 EUR/24h. Close to RAI Convention Center. Slow elevators. Weak flow of water in bathroom - bathroom was also quite dark.
It's modern and well facilitated Revealing My stay on twitter
