I liked the A300 used is was in very nice condition and the leg room was reasonable. The cabin crew was above average. The pilots were smooth on take off and landing.
The departure gate announcements in English were hard to understand. The landing jetway was used to disembark, but then we had to use stairs to the tarmac and board a bus to get from the domestic terminal (we were an international flight) to the international terminal. Because of this many passengers, especially the elderly, were unprepared for this situation and their carry on luggage.
Modern airplane, great crew and on-time arrival (which is not to be taken for granted in china). Great that they offer wifi and in-flight movies.
Weird boarding setup with separate "holding pens" for customers in Dalian, followed by several bus transfers to and from the terminal in Qingdao. Absolutely crazy boarding with no groups and everyone pushing. No English announcements in Dalian or Qingdao. Food is expensive and the portions very small, especially given the long flight duration. All in all still the best way to get to/from Dalian and Singapore though.
That it was on time mostly and got us to our destination. Food was a saving grace compared to the overall experience.
Super old equipment, no entertainment at all for an international flight at least for the longer 4 hour leg. Their motto fly boutique feel unique is a joke. You could tell they are a cheap cheap airline, they never got a gate at any airport, appeared like relegated to the far flung corners of the airport! Always busing us to and from the gates. In flight bare bones with rickety old seats. Certainly for the super budget minded a good value maybe but I won't be traveling with them anytime soon. crew kept asking me to remove my noise canceling headphones. No airline has ever asked me to coz duh that's their purpose!
Boarding process was not controlled at all. They let it basically be a mob scene. There was no order. On the flight one man insisted on keeping calling people right through takeoff. Only one flight attendant said anything. Forceful words but no follow up. I had to confront the passenger finally.
Online was very strict in not discounting anything. There was room in Business class and I paid full price. Most airlines have a deep discount when searched a few days before the flight. So, that might fill the vacancies in business and make me a faithful passenger.
The disability assistance was very good in Bangkok and Taipei.
Disability assistance was horrible(wheelchair) assistance in SFO. I had NO assistance for 90 minutes to obtain a wheelchair while .d
waiting to board my departure from SFO . The same was true but worse on the return to SFO. I was let off the plane LAST and the wheelchair was not there and I waited. The wheelchair person parked me outside the gate and said NOTHING and walked away. After 15 minutes waiting for his return, I went on my own and nearly passed out waiting in the horrible immigration line. It took 120 minutes from leaving the plane to getting in my car at the airport. Ridiculoius and a violation of Americans with Disabilities ACT.
