The location of this hotel is great, but there are plenty of other hotels nearby with better ocean views that aren't obstructed by cruise ships 6 out of 8 nights from Christmas through New Year's Day for a lot less than the $3000 USD that I paid. This hotel caters to cruise ships guests over their own guests. Imagine having a beautiful ocean view room with sunsets blocked by cruise ships most of your stay. Also, waking in the morning to loud noises from cruise ship passengers walking from their ship to shops on a path that goes by all the ocean view rooms. In addition to loud horns and music from the cruise ships throughout the day. Finally, if that wasn't enough they let cruise ship passengers use the hotel pool/beach area on the second floor. At first I thought it was because the entrance wasn't locked to enter the pool/beach area. After meeting people from 6 different cruise ships on the beach they all told me that they bought excursions to use the Renaissance facilities. They rent their facilities out to the cruise ships!!! If I was paying $100 USD per night okay, but not when you're paying $375 USD per night with taxes and a 16% resort fee. OUTRAGEOUS!!!! The staff was terrible as well. Our luggage was delayed and when it was dropped off to the hotel it was just placed in storage instead of being sent to our room. I could go on with many other stories of how our room wasn't cleaned and how we weren't told about planned events at the hotel by the staff. JUST STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL!!! IT IS WAY OVER PRICED FOR WHAT YOU GET.
Nice location in Punda the business area of Willemstad and great beach facilities. The prices of the drinks, breakfast, lunch were overrated. The room was an older one but in good maintained shape except the bed. Room cleaning especially under harder reachable place could be done better.

I liked the price and the location being relatively close to the downtown part of Willemstad They didn't let me to the restaurant because i didn't have pants on. I had dress shorts that came down to the knee.
Very friendly and polite staff, wonderful location, good breakfast. In fact, before booking at Avila, I had some hesitations, on the basis of several guest reviews on your website, but the complaints in most of these reviews appeared to be unfounded. You are not supposed to move to and from the beach in swim wear, but there is no place to change near the beach. I was given a very nice suite, which was however not equiped with things you normally find in a hotel room such as, for example, a minibar.

The restaurant and food was good. Cleanliness of the hotel was good. An ok all inclusive restaurant. When I arrived at the hotel, I requested to check out late since my return flight was 9:00 pm and the check out time at the hotel was 12:00 pm. I was advised that I would have to request again on the day of check out. I did request again as advised but I was told that the room was already booked. The hotel was accommodating and allowed us to stay in the lounge, however, I think they should have accommodated us with the room since they had ample time of being informed of my request.
The water is very nice. There's a good place for snorkeling just a few meters away from the beach. The Italian and Japanese restaurant are fine. The entertainment team is good. The resort is very old and without much maintenance. The quality of the food (specially the buffet) is mediocre. Except for some very nice people, the service is bad. They are making something in the beach, and they start using noisy machines from 8 AM. The beach seems to be artificial. It's small and with a lot of big stones and rocks. No internet in the rooms. You have to go to the lobby (full of people and mosquitoes) and pay to use the wi-fi!

The beach is nice The pool was very dirty. Food quality is not good at all, there is not even fresh orange juice, instead they give you TANG. The staff was not service oriented at all.
Every one was smiling and kind. lots of fun to do. Delicious food and drinks. recommend you for real. if i go to curacao again, i will definetly stay in here again. Super recomended!!
First of all don't get your expectations up... That helped us. After reading the other reviews that want hard. If you plan on staying around the hotel and in your room this is not for you. If you need a place to sleep then spend the day at the beach or site seeing without paying through the nose this works just fine. The room was OK needs a lot of renovation over all. Our bathroom was old but clean. Same for our room... Not cleaned but clean. The sheets smelled like Clorox bleach which in our case was a good thing means there clean and beds were comfortable. My wife is picky but we would probably comeback again just because the price was good and the location was amazing. Rent a car it is the best way to get around. TV didn't work. Under furniture needs a deep cleaning.
Nothing Staff was ride. As soon as you walk in the hallway it smells like mold. Rooms were disgusting. The bedding wasnt even dry it was damp. One of the reasons i chose this hotel was because it said it had a pool/beach bar. There is an abandonded area that looks like it was once a bar? Dennys is the only restaurant on property and their prices are ridiculous over 12 us dollars for breakfast and even the restaurant was horrible. The average price for breakfest in town and at a reataurant at riff or renisance which are huge torist areas was 7us dollars. Do not stay here!!!!!

Friendly staff! Cosy and Luxurious feel to the hotel. Our baby slept in our room and we had reception with the baby phone by the pool, restaurant and cocktail bar :-) we had a wedding party very close to the hotel, so were very glad that there was a childminding sercice. When booking we requested a poolside Royal suite on the ground floor (due to pram) We swapped arrival dates, and on arrival we were given a room on the first floor. This was quickly rectified to a ground floor room. Only when we checked out we realised that we had been placed in a junior suite. A shame that no apology was made for this error but on the plus side the bill was $300's cheaper!

The Balinese ambiance was very relaxing. The staff was very attentive and accommodating. Private beach was staffed with butlers. The water was clear and had no rocks. The turn down survive was our favorite. The food at the restaurant was good as well. Best resort I've ever been to!

The 50 meter lap pool. It's adjacency to Ocean Encounters Dive Operation. Excellent nemo restaurant. Poor front desk service, no concierge! Far from Airport and downtown Willemstad. It's "green" policy is a bit misleading. Breakfast not included. I would only stay here for the diving facility. Otherwise, it is a poor choice for non-diving solo travelers...

This hotel was definitely charming and different. It has very pretty rooms and pools. However, the service is very slow and not very professional. Also, the restaurants/bars close early. This is not near the beach, so if you are looking to be on the beach this is not the hotel for you. They do offer shuttle service to the beach, but the shuttle comes every hour and the beach is a bit far away. All in all, I would recommend it for the expoerience.
This hotel needs serious maintenance!!! It's a old hotel the rooms are so in bad conditions that we had to move from there like three times for different kind of issues. I felt like I was staying in one of the worst hotels ever. The staff were not aware about how bad things were!!! They just gave me this stupid answer: Oh!!! I am sorry but this hotel is like hundreds of years old and there is nothing we can do about it????!!!!!! The issue with the Internet as a matter a fact it is free but some rooms they just do not have a WI FI router so if are the lucky one and got a room without a router congratulations!!! It means of course you ate not gonna have Internet at all. At least if you go out side the lobby you would be having some Internet.
Overall, is an old, poorly maintained hotel. Expect a 3 stars Hotel, no more than that. Yet, rooms and bathrooms are fairly clean and it has a good location. I would not recommend this hotel. If have a little more room in your hotel budget, try somewhere else.
The cafeteria staff to say at least are not as good as a conserge service in the hotel.
Between the Hotel and the Lodge, this place has it's stuff together. I was less than impressed with some of the on-site restaurants and sundry shop. The only place to get breakfast in the complex is at the Observatory Restaurant. It's only buffet style, but I believe you get what you pay for. The sundry shop wasn't open the whole time I was there (5 days). The Jaipur Restaurant has an awesome asian buffet on Thursday nights. Even though the hotel is not on the beach the free shuttle to Blue Bay Resort is really worth the time. That beach is amazing. Plenty of beach chairs, enough shade for the fair skinned, and a restaurant with a full bar. If you're a beach bum, you could easily spend all day at this beach. They also have a scuba diving shop there too. The Lodge is quite nice as well. The beach there is good, but not amazing. The only real downside to the Lodge, at least in my opinion, is that it is literally in the middle of nowhere.
Hotel is a good business hotel in middle of Willemstad. Not recommended for travelling with kids. They also have a resort on the other side of the island and that is more family minded. One minor point was that the watercompany was working during the night! and made a lot of noise . The hotel left a message that there was no water from 12 pm untill 4.00 am but did not mentioned the noise. But normally the hotel is nice and convenient for business travelers or couples.

GENERAL OVERVIEW: First of all, when you visit Curacao don't have any expectations for customer service. It is not up to U.S. or developed country standards. The concept of customer service is a pervasive cultural difference (and perhaps problem) throughout the island. That being said, the hotel was very nice and the staff was courteous. Don't expect anyone in Curacao to bend over backwards to help you though; it's just not their way. You have to ask specific questions to get accurate answers. You won't get warm smiles and greetings from natives, generally speaking. HOTEL PROS: Clean and spacious rooms! Everything one would need including a small refrigerator, a separate dressing room, spacious bathroom with clawfoot tub, and a variety of restaurants. The location is ideal in the middle of the capital and walking distance to the market and the Queen Emma Bridge to get you to the touristy sites. The service was indifferent and our room was very tired and uninviting. The grounds are nice and the location is very convenient to town. The rooms are available at a discount for a reason. This place does not live up to its reputation.
The Kura Hulanda Spa Resort was a great place to stay. It is so quaint & historic. The grounds are always clean & everyone was so friendly & helpful. Even the housekeeping ladies were as nice as could be---and seemed happy to be there. The concierge was so helpful in arranging tours & taxis. I recommend this place to anyone staying on the island. It is enclosed & secure, yet walking distance to everything.
Small and unique. Our room opened to a small courtyard with a fountain. Wonderful commons area for breakfast or happy hour sometimes with live music. Staff was courteous and very helpful. Great location.
This hotel is in town, walking distance to all attractions. Charming property, nicely landscaped. Rooms were fine except windows could not be opened as they faced the public areas. There is no wifi in the rooms, only in the public areas which I believe is contrary to their advertisement.
The two bedroom we stayed in was modern, clean and finished to a high standard. It was nicer than my home and it is the only place we would stay in Curacao. While the private pool area was excellent, the tall fences did exclude the ocean just outside the walls. Inclusion of the stunning ocean view would have made this property perfect.

The hotel had a great views and was within walking distance to some great restaurants. The staff were very friendly and helpful. This hotel is not on the beach side of the island.While the reception area is grand, the room that we had was old and not updated. There were very few amenities. There were only a few outlets in the room - no outlets in the bathroom. There were no wash cloths, no extra pillows; it was a very basic room. We were only in Curacao for one night so it was OK, but if we had stayed there any longer, we would have preferred a beach hotel on the other side of the island.
Above all its location which was idea. In general it was ok although "a little rough around the edges" (wtaer taps difficult to turn, somewhat worn furniture, etc.

Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful, always with a big smile the bathroom should be refurnished. cleaning of room should be done more thoroughly and not limited to making up beds
