5 min walk to centre 'Stuffy'.resturant and bar staff, all others excellent! Not a family hotel.Lack of resonably priced meals evidenced by the small number of dinners v occupantcy.Suggest eating out for variation.Swimming pool closed for two days and harbour 'view' we paid for, was peeking through large trees from 2nd floor!!
Great to be on the waterfront and on the path around the harbour. Parking somewhat pricey, but secure....
Location - ideal as we arrived in Victoria from Seattle by the Victoria Clipper
the location is great. room are quiet for resting. I booked a ocean view room and end up a roof top view with very angle ocean view. The bell man help us get to the room, he also said it doesn't look like a ocean view room at all. Beside, the room very dated and furniture, carpet are all smell. So, I decide to upgrade to a newer building and paid extra $50 just for one night. Very disappointed the front desk lady keep emphasized that is a ocean view room!!
Harj at the Front Desk was a highlight of information & service
Awesome restaurant Aura in the hotel.
Beautifully designed room, well-equipped facilities, and friendly, helpful staff. Would like towel hooks in bathroom
Room overlooked inner harbor. Very clean with very helpful staff. Restaraunt menu did not have enough basic food choices, no chicken for my wife but I did enjoy my sable fish..The room was missing a selection of glassware as only had 2 glasses for all purposes, also did not have a makeup mirror which my wife prefers. All in shall s nice spit to stay . We will return.
Big, comfortable, well equipped room, value for money, pool hours (open late) No hot tub, bathroom a bit dated
Clean room, not far walking distance from downtown Heater did not work all too well, room couldn't get warm enough.
The location was amazing and the staff at the front desk and front door were extremely helpful and friendly. We were here for the Goodlife Fitness marathon.
The restaurant was wonderful. The food was so innovative and delicious. The staff was very friendly and offered every opportunity to help. I would definitely stay at this place the next time I'm in Victoria. I really appreciated the fact that it was actually further away from all of the other hotels because it was quiet and peaceful.
super close to everything tourists do
Staff were excellent location was excellent Curtains were torn
Bad wireless Internet - the only negative
Staff was great and very helpful suggesting restaurants and activities. We were able to arrange A late checkout and keep our car parked. The location was excellent and there are a lot of nearby restaurants. We had a great time. Facilities are undergoing a major remodel. A bit noisy in the morning since they start early
The room was well appointed, had a nice view and the pool and hotub were excellent.
Great location Internet was slow and difficult to use from mobile device
Location is great! The hotel is old, outdated and in desperate need of a facelift. You are definitely paying for location.
The rooms where nice, clean, bright... Bed was very comfortable ... Staff where helpful. The restrant food left you dissatisfied , tast was okay but not up too it's reputation ...
Everything. Location was great facing the inner harbor. The staff was superb!! Food was excellent!! Look forward to staying there again! No, absolutely everything was excellent!!
Extremely attractive hotel with perfect location by the waterfront. Easy walking distance all over town. We enjoyed our room overlooking the harbor. Gracious, helpful staff. We were happy with the Courtyard Cafe, which provided good sandwiches, coffee, and dessert for low-key suppers. Island Time Tours, booking right there in the Grand Pacific, took us to Butchart Gardens and picked us up again at our requested time. What a very nice arrangement. When it was time to leave Victoria, we chose the Victoria Airport YYJ Shuttle as more economical than a taxi. The Shuttle arrived at the front door and delivered us to the airport comfortably and in good time. We were happy in every way with our four nights at the Grand Pacific and would gladly stay there again.
The room was beautiful and the beds excellent. Enjoyed our stay. Location was excellent for walking.
I loved the location--- within walking distance to downtown, Victoria. Nothing
The location. I liked everything
The location was great as were the staff. The beds were a little too hard and the building was showing signs of wear.
I enjoyed being close to the inner harbour. While the room needed a few minor repairs, the staff were very accommodating and pleasant. It was great value for the price. I would definitely stay there again
The french staff was really nice, the room well cleaned and since we had a discount, we were very happy of the quality.
Very nice, all staff was friendly and helpful.
Very good location, staff very nice. We found the bed hard and uncomfortable
The only negative for me, was the bottom sheets were not large enough. They would come untucked and you were left swimming around in a loose sheet.
Great room. Convienent location. Great restuarant with a great breakfast bar. I had to leave!
Dog friendly and large-family friendly Odd that in a 2 bed suite only 1 bath/shower and that it is in the en-suite. Bathrooms also very small.
Not much No air conditioning, view of the tar paper rooftop
Paid for ocean view which I assumed was Harbour view since it was extra and not the ocean 10 miles away.
Fabulous breakfast, location very convenient for walking around downtown area and to Fisherman's wharf and Beacon Hill Park, would definitely come back for a family getaway!
Clean, great location, great value. Furnishings were dated,
Location Very noisy untill 4 am----friend booked a much nicer room for a much cheaper rate.
Super friendly staff, and the were very customer oriented. Room was very clean and perfect for a young couple. Bathroom could be updated
Very friendly and imformative staff. Our room was large with a king bed, good bathroom and small balcony overlooking the inner harbour. The hotel has a great location with a regular water taxi service to the city centre. The Orca Sprit whale watching experience, office and boats are also based at the hotel wharf.
I liked that the hotel was close to the water and Fisherman's Wharf. It was clean and the staff was friendly. It was far from the main downtown core. They do provide a free downtown shuttle on a first come basis until 2300. I believe this hotel would do much better if they had a FREE airport shuttle AND a free continental breakfast. I know I will look for both in a hotel if I return to the area.
The taxi service was fantastic, the room was nice and the staff friendly. I will come back!
Service, location, value, ambiance, shuttle service
The view parking gate unable to code out
Construction noise next door
Great location overlooking the entrance to Victoria inner harbor. Very nice and helpful staff. Nicely designed rooms. Worst: nearly all the pillows smelled of old sweat. We finally requested and received new, unused pillows. Avoiding dry cleaning pillows is not a good cost-cutting measure! Also, waited one hour for breakfast, after two complaints, received it with the explanation that here were "problems in the kitchen." To their credit, the restaurant wait staff seemed embarrassed and comped the breakfast. Another morning we decided to skip the menu and do the $17 buffet, which was MUCH worse that the free buffets you get at budget hotels.
Great location, quiet rooms, modern style, helpful staff. Quality of equipment and bathrooms
Pretty good location - 10-15 minute walk to empress and downtown. Right next to fisherman's wharf. Good Restaurant. Nothing.
Very nice hotel. Breakfast was good too.
Waterfront views were wonderful. We especially enjoyed seeing the occassional harbour seal at breakfast. About a 20 minute stroll to the main harbour area. No real negatives.
Location- could easily walk to harbour or fisherman's warf lots! dirty - can't see through the windows, no balcony! no view of the harbour, restaurant is a rip off can't even fill your cup with proper coffee in the morning, not child friendly- felt that a child was disturbing .
We liked the location and that it was quiet. We also liked that there was a full kitchen.
Good access to hotel and rooms and parking. Pleasant staff. Recommend an upgrade new bed mattress
Convenience of shuttle and friendly staff.
The location of the hotel is excellant, close to the inner harbour, restaurants and beaches. House keeping was not good. Used drinking glasses were n9ot replaced or cleaned. Coffee & supplies were no upkept. At check in we did not feel welcome, although he was not rude.
Clean, quiet and convenient. Great hotel for the price
Great location. Great staff.
Just a short walk from Parliament, harbor, and all the fun of Victoria. Found several nice markets nearby as well. Clean apartment-type room. Very clean with a great little kitchenette! Quaint, cute, charming, nice parking.
The food was good, we only had lunch once but breakfast most mornings. The staff and kitchen staff were very pleasant. The curteousy car was a pleasant surprise and nice to have available both to pick you up and also to take you places. It is very close to the harbor and the ferry coming from Port Angles.
Fantastic location. Next to where you want to be but on a lovely leafy quiet street (one road back from the water front) The hotel is older but has large rooms and is very comfortable.
friendly staff and offer us assistance all the time, courtesy vehicle to go around the downtown bed is not too comfortable
THE clean and comfortable rooms and the friendly staff
It was a very pleasant experience. The staff very friendly and helpful. We were upgraded upon arrival to a lovely king suite which was a lovely bonus. The room was very spacious and comfortable with a full kitchen. We stay in Victoria a few times a year and will now be staying at the Royal Scott. Also this hotel is very quiet. Something you don't always find staying downtown Victoria.
Great place! Our 3-night stay was the highlight of our 9-night trip. The room was upbeat yet homey and comfortable. Loved the full kitchen and the balcony. the front desk went out of his way to provide us with a wonderful experience. Thanks
It had a kitchen in the room. There was an event at the bar so we couldn't use it. They also were not able to provide us with 2 queen size beds, so someone got the pullout couch.

Very friendly staff and wooing distance to downtown and restaurants. The furniture was looking worn. Not what I would expect for the star level. And we forgot something in the closet. When we called it had been over 24 hrs and the item was still hanging in the closet of the room. Housekeeping hadn't found it.
Beautiful hotel close to the harbor We did not have a view from our room, and as our room was at the same level as the adjoining rooftop the seagulls woke me at dawn.

Great location, just no air No air conditioning
Everything was great Checkin time isn't very flexible but it wasn't a big deal
Location That I was not informed by anyone that there would be a large parking fee per night until I was checking out and was given the bill.
good location. Friendly staff no air conditioning in the room!
Location was excellent and the room rate was cheap The room was noisy, I was kept up by a dog barking next door, paper thin walls. Breakfast was free and in the restaurant below but I heard one of the waiters say to another waiter about my order, 'don't make this a priority, we have paying customers'.
Fire alarm went off at 11:30 PM on Sunday night and it took an hour to turn off
It is economical but with all the amenities needed. It is in an excellent location on the Harbour. The express breakfast was an unexpected surprise and very good. We would come back to stay here when in Victoria. The room was a little warm and we couldn't get the thermometer to work.
The excellent diningroom and bar food
Very clean room, friendly staff, great location
its quiet, clean! none but my husband is saying that he was kinda dissappointed coz he couldnt find the channel for WWE - wrestling
Location was excellent. Staff was very nice and friendly. Beds were comfortable. Loved the solid surface floors (rather than carpet) in the rooms. Wi-Fi did not work very well at all. Kitchenette room was so small not enough room to even walk around the beds - much better when moved to a room without the kitchenette. Very loud on the harbor/street side.
Room was clean and the staff was very friendly. Having a room above the outside bar and roadside was very noisy during the late night hours
Staff was friendly and helpful, gave us 1 hour late checkout without charge, free hotel parking for guests, great location The food at the main restaurant was not good and the service at that restaurant was mediocre, at best
Location was great. Bed was not great only ok. Room above bar and noisy till closed. Since no ac had to open windows . restaurant had good food. Staff very good. So all in all ok only would find snother hotel if go again in same area.
We really liked the location of the hotel. Close to everything we wanted to go to or see. Free breakfast and ample free parking too was a plus. The closet was only about a foot from the side of the bed. It made it hard to get in to. But all the plusses of the hotel made it insignificant.
Being able to park the car and have a base to explore Victoria on foot. The savings allowed us to have a spa day and afternoon tea at the Empress Hotel. The breakfast buffet had good variety and well attended. The pool area should have some lounge chairs and a bit more privacy.
Location Aged appearance
Helpful no-fuss staff. Spacious room. Excellent shower. Easy walking distance of most town sights.
It was quiet. nothing to say here
This is the second time we have stayed at the Embassy Inn. We appreciate the value and have to be back in Victoria in April so will stay at the Embassy then. I have not looked at any reviews. Most bad reviews are given by people who are habitual complainers.
Close to town Continental breakfast was part of the deal but all we got was two cups of coffee and that to not even 12oz! Pretty pathetic! There was no "gift shop" or "emergency supplies" offered at the hotel (you do tend to forget a toothbrush). For the price, I would have rather paid $10 more and stayed at a nicer hotel & I will do so the next time around.
Enjoyed being on the 4th floor with high ceilings and skylight Scrambled eggs were kind of bland Maybe some variety of sauces to spice them up a bit
the best breakfast and dining place I've ever been too. Very clean and best supervised. Food is always replenished. Never ran out. Definitely will comeback. Best location. Staff very friendly. Room is clean and comfortable.
This hotel is right by the Parliment and the inner harbor. Close to everything, reasonably priced, and free parking. Very nice and a great value
the staff were exellent and helped in a friendly way.
Everything was great! One of the breakfast staff was rude. He took breakfast a little too seriously.
My stay was brief - one night only - late arrival and early departure. Staff very accommodating. Upgrade to queen bed was good. Lobby coffee was excellent. We were allowed to park our car on the lot after check-out while we went on a walking tour of the city - that was greatly appreciated. Carrying heavy bags up the steps to lobby - no elevator.
I participated in the 1/2 marathon. Location was great. Room was comfortable and beds were great. Convenience of the restaurant downstairs was also a plus. It was quiet and we only stayed the one night and enjoyed the accommodations. Staff was great! I would have liked to have a larger TV in the room.
The position, very close to the city center but at the same time in a very quiet and nice area. The "old style" character of the hotel. Free Wi-fi in all the hotel. the rooms need some refurbishing. Our room was overlooking a yard where the fans of the restorant are located with the consequent bad smell
quiet and clean no elevator and my friend was in a walking cast. no bath tub........the cheapest possible shampoo and soap. I dropped the soap in the white shower and I coundn;t find it until I turned off the water.
The room was small but well organised and the bathroom and shower looked really new. The bed could have been bigger for 2 people but still we slept well.
Very clean, no frills accommodation in a historic building in the midst of interesting residential neighborhood, yet close to shopping and downtown core. No elevator so would not be suitable for those who cannot do stairs.
Liked location and price. Very good hotel for the price. close to everything. Evaluations are based on value for price. Staff kept this older hotel clean. Nice to have refrigerator in room.
The location and the restaurant are well worthwhile. The room while clean and with a modern bathroom, was all on an angle. The floor and doorways are all not square, we are talking about 2 inches on a doorway. If this doesn't worry you then the place is fine.
Virtually everything - the place reminded me of the places my parents would take me as a kid when on holiday. Parking lot, very well kept gardens, friendly check-in with lemon water available and coffee in the morning. Comfy, old school decor and furnishings - but everything is clean and kept up - it's not at all tatty. Ice machine, vending machines, and a simple but immaculate room. I also left my laptop in my room by accident and the maid made a point of rushing after me to return it - so, honest staff as well. My pillow could have been a bit denser!
The friendly staff and the cleanliness of the rooms. Location was great.
Very comfortable (quiet) and at home. The room I stayed was very clean. A bit far from Downtown.
Location is excellent. hotel and rooms are very clean, parking at a reasonable cost, and rates are competitive if not better than comparable hotels. Street noise at times disturbing, but not excessive.
Excellent location and the kitchen facilities were an added bonus. Comfortable bed and clean bathroom. Small bathroom.
Good hotel at great location
The rooms are great and the value for the money is as well. The best feature is the location, close to shopping, restaurants, parks. Easy to find and great access from the airport for visitors.
The rooms are beautiful and comfortable and the location is excellent. Soundproofing is virtually nonexistent. I could hear the people above me all night and the shower next door is so loud I thought my own shower had suddenly turned on.
Shower pressure was excellent! Location could not be more convenient. Also, we got a great deal. Apparently, there was a mix up on my reservation at check out, and the staff did not know what to do, so it took us over 30 min to check out. The staff could have just charged me for the room and be done with it in a much shorter time because we had the Bookings.com reservation paperwork with us to show the staff.
The staff was really kind, and the room was excellent. Full equipment for cooking, very clean bathroom. Highly recommend. Our room was just beside the street but the street was not very noisy. And it was park view. we were very tired after city tour so we slept very well.
central location but quiet setting
Within walking distance of all of the downtown Victoria sites and the convenience of parking our vehicle while walking the area. The rooms were excellent. Nothing
The location is exceptional. Across from Victoria's biggest park and within two blocks of major tourist attractions, restaurants and downtown shopping. Inn is being renovated so construction materials and some chaos on the main floor at the moment. No noise in suite however.
Everything is included in the question 2. Specialy because is a very clean hotel and offers lots of facilities. Is confortable and cozy. Good price, good internet e excellent location. But the most important: is clean and confortable!!!!I Nothing to write about!!! It's really good and we enjoyed to stay there!
Convenience; friendliness; "homey" atmosphere. We had two bed; one would have been preferred and allowed more room in the suite. No an issue re: future stays, though. we'll be back.
full kitchen, staff very helpful washroom counter too small
walking distance to water and restaurants. showers were excellent. decor was dated 1980's. everything was tidy and nautical but mattress could be upgraded
within walking distance of city centre, large clean room, price included light breakfast, full kitchen in room old refrigerator in room - constantly running - room a little run down - should be classed as 3 star not 31/2 star. Beware of rate advertised on web site - web page site was $135.00/day - it was not a bargain as walk in rates were advertised at $CAD138.00/day at the hotel. My cost including all taxes/charges became CAD$206.00 per day.
Location, Location, Location At other Hotels, dry cereals available. Would have liked to see other newspapers on sale, Globe&Mail, National Post, The Province.
Comfortable beds, clean room and bathroom, great view of the harbor, decent breakfast, cheap parking, awesome location and friendly staff. Also really liked the kitchenette space had it's own little space/nook! Best value for the area!
The beds were very comfortable Breakfast supposed to be until ten . You should be ale to walk in until ten at five minutes until everything. Was gone and being put away . They said you could have what was left . I ended up having to drive and wait a hour for breakfast . Also the sauna and pool were closed
Classic . Some real nice creaky stairs. Clean comfortable bed. Clean bathroom. Location has great walking score. Breakfast was ok. Just average. For the B&B it would be great to have breakfast in the Mansion. We had to crowd in with the hotel line up and the dining area in the other building of the Hotel.
