One of the best hotels we ever experienced.Great position, amaizing design, quiet and relaxing.
Beautiful rooms overlooking the water. Perfect way to relax in comfort for a few days of luxury. I can honestly say that I couldn't find any faults.
Excellent location beside main square in Trieste. Very pleasant and helpful staff, especially on reception.
Excellent location, polite, obliging staff, extremely comfortable/well designed rooms, very pleasant breakfast.
Beautiful hotel in a great location. Well-appointed with a wonderful balcony and view. The heating system was broken and the staff unable to fix it. It was freezing in both areas of the suite and extremely uncomfortable.
The bedroom was soundproof, and the bed was very comfortable. The buffet breakfast gave a varied choice for everyone.
Very helpful staff. The weather.
Excelent location, great rooms, recently renoved, nice furniture. All new. Near the sea Poor breakfast, very expansive wireless.
It was a very stylish, well positioned hotel with good size rooms, especially the ones with balconies overlooking the sea. The hotel was a good mix of old and new with the recent renovation retaining the important elements of the old worlde hotel whilst introducing all modern amenities and comforts.
Room very comfortable, large and quiet beautifully designed splendid brekfast in such luxurious hotel internet in rooms should be free of charge
Everything! Fantastic room, good service, great location. One of my favourite hotels I have ever stayed in. I didn't like the exorbitant charge for wireless internet.
location, ambiance, service, friendly and helpful staff, cleanliness. no
in general friendly staff
very convenient location, comfortable room, helpful and friendly staff
the staff were vice nice and hepful the price was a little high
Close to everything you need, hotel was excellent staff very freindly
Car park garage left the car door open with keys and other personal item inside.
very friendly and helpfull staff, good location near the centre, nice decoration of the lobby and groundfloor the rooms are worn out and need serious refurbishment to match with the NH standards and with the refurbished ground floor.
IT's close to the center. The breakfast is "correct" for a 4 stars hotel. I went to this hotel because I had a very good experience with nh hotel close to bergamo airport, but this one is totally different, the heating was not working, and they dont have more cover neither pillows. Only one towel for two persons,to get hot water in the shower you had to wait minutes,by chance we find a parking place close to the hotel, but they dont have parking.
Good service at breakfast with the coffee of your choice
central location, modern interior, good breakfast rather thin walls between rooms
it's unique location, the friendly staff, the level of services, the super-design rooms and common areas. the pugging of the building, there were a lot of noises from the hotel corridors and the neighbouring streets
Very clean hotel, our room was not the most quiet one (one of the window was near the conditioner engine). But overall for one night stay and for good value for money we consider this hotel as a good one. Its' locaion is fantastic - just near the main beatifull square.
Breakfast was really excellent and delicious! The minimalism was quite depressing. White walls, no pictures. Internet didn't work in room either
Urban Design has really urban design :) We didn't smoke, but in the last night there was a strong smell of smoking? maybe from neighbors.
Staff was very kinde and profesinal.
the hotel location, the services, the room
Comfortable bed and good breakfast. I was upgraded to a loft suite at no charge becase I had booked a long stay. The loft suite was very nice. Loft rooms were accessed by narrow, winding steps. Difficult to bring up luggage as the elevator was up about 5 steps from the ground floor.
It is very central and modern
Breakfast was exelant, stuff very friendly and pleasant N/a
Wonderful location, cleanliness or room, helpful reception staff. Breakfast service could be improved but was fine.
If you are staying in Trieste…this is the only place to stay. It’s a beautiful hotel in the famous Piazza Unita. The staff are extremely helpful, the pool/sauna/steam room and spa treatment is an added bonus. Breakfast has everything, including a glass of Prosecco if it takes your fancy. We will definitely stay there again sometime…
Excellent location; good breakfasts
The helpful and friendly hotel staff There was no drawer space in room 302
The location, the atmosphere and the swimming pool. Breakfast staff could have been more friendly and helpful. They should have explained their system which differed to other hotels I have stayed in.
An excellent location, ambience and services. Waiters at the Hary´s bar/restaurant does not carry away useless and used pottery when having your meal. The starter pottery was on the table when we were having our pudding (for dinner). You You ve to use the hotel driver for parking despite you does not trust enybody driving your car. The hotels usualy permit it.
Location, luxury, breakfast, restaurant........ Nothing!!!!
Location, location, location Staff are polite but lacks the snappiness you need for a luxury hotel
Location is perfect, the rooms are very comfortable and relatively big. The breakfast could be better!
The room and locality were good. But nothing out of the ordinary for the price. I was actually expecting something rather more luxurious or flamboyant for the price. Given its star rating I was surprised to find no internet, no obvious condusive lounge or public social space - did I miss it somewhere - and no included breakfast (which I knew when I booked). I was told where there was internet in Trieste but could not find it. OK for business but lacked a bit for tourist.
Excellent location in center of town, but still quiet. Double paned windows block out virtually any street noise. Very courteous staff. Only that on booking.com it said that pets were free, then when they sent the confirmation email they said that pets were 10 euro. When I told them about booking.com info they apologized and did not charge me. Nevertheless kind of weird for such an expensive hotel.
The rooms lacked comfortable chairs
Central location in Trieste Prepare the rooms for guests!! Too slow garage service for the price!! Arrogant check-in staff!! Latest checkout at 10 am???
breakfastroom room had small window on a small courtyard and was therefore dark. I like rooms with a view.
location no tea coffee facilities in room
Friendly staff. Excellent location. Good breakfast included.
The location is right in the centre of Trieste! So basically you just walk out onto the high street of Trieste. The Wifi was not very stable. Breakfast could've had more choices
Friendly staff, clean and comfortable room, perfect location in the center of Trieste, decent breakfast buffet the free wireless internet connection was very slow
Excellent location and service! No.
centreal position to main attractions, restaurants etc
very central Hotel is really an annex to to the next door Urban hotel, it has no facilities of it's own. It is in a scruffy alley, one evening we were kept awake by local yobs with dogs in the alley.
Central location - the main sights of Trieste were just a few steps away. The rooms were very comfortable, even though they were rather small, there was lots of convenient storage space. There was free internet available. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were dark (this is just a comment - not a negative), but this is unavoidable because the hotel is located on a little alleyway. So if you want a view from your window don't go here. It was also a bit difficult to find because we came from the wrong direction and didn't see the sign pointing up the alley.
good staff, comfortable, centrally located, difficult to find, no view at all, small room
nice reception at main hotel next door (seemed to be shared with this hotel) and helpful staff room a little bit small
i will never come back - not clean, very poor 3 star hotel everything
The location was very good. The staff were cold and distant. We felt like they had no interest in us. The James Joyce is the older sister of the ultra modern urban hotel next door. It has nobody on duty there and we felt like we were seated at the kids table. Nobody noticed us.
Quiet Room near shopping and attractions. Internet service in room. Helpful staff. Attractive room. Apparently the Hotel James Joyce was fill, so we were put in new Urban Hotel across the alley. Very new, very nice. Room very small.
Quiet, and car-free area that was also very central. Excellent care in the room itself. Large double bed. Room was dark, scarcely any daylight coming in. More facilities to hang or dry towels would be welcome. Breakfast was rather poor - especially tinned rather than fresh fruit in September in Italy ! And the coffee was also rather weak ! Hotel staff not on the site but over the street, and the experience was somewhat impersonal - though staff were always polite.
Ideal city centre location, room overlooked an office across the very narrow street; some noise during night from outside. Very comfortable, clean and excellent staff. NB these comments cover two bookings as we had two rooms, one for our adult daughter and one for us. Would have helped if we could have told taxi driver to leave us at Urban, but we didn't know the hotels were linked. The coffee at breakfast was below par.
Very spacious and convenient rooms. A good view on roofs of Trieste buildings. 1)The chambermaid works too seldom. She did not even take rubbish, trash. 2) Kitchens are not equipped with electrical kettle for preparing tea. It is necessary to use a pan.
Excellent and quiet location in the center of the town, clean and spacious apartment. We booked a triple room but we got a double room with an extra bed, which was a little bit short.
The room was surprisingly big and with kitchen, so it's good for a longer stay. The bathroom was big also. The location is great! We could see the sea from our window. It was really hard to find a parking space, but after one hour going around in this little crazy town with crazy italian parking habits we found a place (we thought 20 € per day for parking offering by the hotel was too much).
Huge room with fully equiped kitchen included. Pleasantly surprised!
Location and suite with spotless kitchen and bath. Nice old building. Major problem - the doors were locked and no one was there when I arrived! I had called in advance to make sure that reception would be open for my 10:30 pm train arrival in Trieste and they said that they would have someone to greet me despite the fact that the reception hours ended at 9pm. I was only saved by the simultaneous arrival of another guest who let me in - but there was no note and no key and no one arrived in reception. If not for ingenuity, I would have had to sleep in the reception area. Also a little run down - rugs, curtains and bedspreads.
It was like staying in your own appartment No
Cleanliness of the room, very nice breakfast, helpfulness of the staff
parking service small breakfast room
Room Cleanyless The City Noise
The hotel has first of all a perfect position in the city center Sometimes the cigarette smell went through and was smelled in our room as some smokers were probably our neighbours
Valet-parking a great boon. Central location. Nothing
Helpful staff, central location, nice, old building. Lack of air con could be a problem in very hot weather
Good location, near city center. Good breakfast buffet. There is just a bathroom for almost 10 rooms. During our one night stay the bathroom was never cleaned and toilet paper was missing.
Clean and cheap Stifflingly hot
Good location Internet point without printer!
We loved the location of the hotel it was very central to the city. Breakfast was good and the staff very helpful, we would definetly stay there again if visiting Trieste.
very nice location, big, comfortable rooms, friendly staff lack of elevator, lack of parking, poor breakfast
The rooms are large and very well furnished. Also they are spotlessly clean.
Tasteful, comfortable, spacious
The hotel is beautiful. The rooms are large and comfortable, the location is excellent, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Trieste.
Very tastefully decorated rooms
The place was right in town, very clean and nice. Big room, comfortable bed, nice bathroom. Close to almost everything in town. The wireless internet did not work in my room (the last one in the corridor, the furthest away from the reception). And for some reason the internet chord did not work either. So I used the wireless in the hotel reception instead. Too bad the reception is not staffed for longer hours. It would have been nice to ask them for advice during the weekend, not only during morning hours.
My stay was very well. Front Desk times and Parking Logistics was an issue, but that is what you have when you stay at a hotel in the pedestrian area.
Very charming place, beautiful room and furniture, in a very central and nice ara of the town. Great deal, especially for the very reasonable price. The wi-fi connection works very well, and it's free.
The interior of the room was nice. I have reserved a parking place, and the Hotel has not informed me, that the parking place is not at the hotel. They didn't inform me at all where the parking place can be found. It is not possible to drive close to the hotel, because it is not allowed for cars to enter that area of the city. The "included" breakfast consisted of two small pieces of bisquit and tee bags. I wouldn't call this a breakfast.
Helpful, nice staff. Excellent location. Elegant interior decorating. Secure access. Surprisingly for a hotel of this quality, there was no hair dryer. Breakfast (on tray in room) was minimal and a bit disappointing (adding a tub of yoghurt and some fruit or fruit juice would help). Limited reception hours could be a problem.
We liked the central location, the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff and the quality of the room and en-suite bathroom. The air-conditioning was good. The whole place was very clean and modern. The packaged breakfast and tea and coffee-making facilities, including a fridge, were fine. It was a relaxing way to start the day.
The room was very well equiped with everything that we required, the staff were very helpful and well organised. The style and decor of the hotel was lovely. All at a reasonable price.
If you want a budget hotel in the centre of Trieste the Centrale is perfect. The hotel is very clean and the staff very friendly. Our room had a toilet and shower en-suite. Breakfast is very basic but satisfactory as there are many good restaurants nearby for your lunch.
Its in the center of the city and its clean.
it's really well situated, and also it's really clean! They clean the rooms really late, so if you arrived at mid-day to have "siesta" probably you will find your room still untidy!!
The central location, enabling it to be easily reached from the bus and railway stations, and to enjoy the old city The bathroom shower drain was blocked when we registered at 6.00pm. It didn't drain properly and much much worse than that it allowed waster water to enter from other guest rooms. We asked to be shifted to another room. The hotel wouldn't/couldn't shift us and so next morning we went to the Trieste Tourism office. We didn't leave the first night because the Tourism Office closed at 6.00pm. The Tourism office recommended another more expensive Hotel to us and we checked out of the Hotel Centrale after only one night out of 3 of our booking and moved into the new Hotel that morning. We lodged a written complaint about the unsanitory/unhealthy condition of the Hotel Centrale through the Tourism Office, & seek compensation for the extra expense
location way too noisy, lift was tiny, stairway to front desk was poorly lit, was unable to open shutters
Central for all of the sites. Acc was very clean and comfortable. Entrance not well lit in the evening. Noise from bars on the Fri/Sat meant windows had to be closed.
The position near the Grand Canal is excellent - and not too noisy. It is quite cheap and the room though small is adequate. It is really a pension rather than a hotel. It is on the second floor up a rather grim staircase (the lift was not working). The staff were not in the least interested in guests and the night guy seemed to like bellowing down the corridor. The rooms are spartan (think hosttel) and the ensuite bathroom is like a cupboard in the middle of the room.
Ease of access and total privacy No rapport between staff and customer, especially at breakfast. The silence was deafening.
cosiness, cleanness, hospitality, politeness Тhere isn't an iron
Mr. Gianfranco was more than polite and the overall of the hotel is more than best The breakfast ,even everything was fresh and tasty,
We found its location superb, on a quiet street in the heart of Trieste's old city, and literally two minutes' walk from Trieste's public squares (e.g. Piazza dell'Unita Italia), elegant waterfront, and its lovely pedestrian malls, lined with attractive bars and restaurants. Our room's decor was simple, but it was very tastefully appointed. Much attention was paid to details (e.g. a nice stool in the bathroom, a safe in our room,...). Excellent quality at a reasonable price. We were very pleased with our choice of hotels for our first visit to Trieste. The air conditioning might have been a little on the cool side, but it was very efficient and enabled us to sleep really well, in spite of the sweltering heat.
Good central position, enjoyed the hotel restaurant with its Greek flavour Car parking is a great problem - spent 1 hour one day searching for a place to leave the car.
The staff was helpfull and the room was clean and bright.
near to center bad sound insulation between the rooms
in the center poor breakfast
Clean and big family room. Nice staff. Breakfast was good.
Staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel was located very centrally, close to shopping and the water. The band width connection was very low so internet connection was slow and spotty. The hotel was located in front of the bus stop which was both a blessing and a curse. At 5:30 am the buses would come and are very noisy.
Location was very good - in the centre of town and near the port. No ham and cheese to go with the bread rolls for breakfast in the morning. Only a small point as I thought it was de rigeur to have this in hotels on the Med. Actually the breakfast included tea, coffee, 3 different cereals, fruit and yoghurt so this isn't really a serious comment.
Having stayed at the Filoxenia before we knew roughly what to expect. However, we found it much improved to our previous visit. Staff were very friendly and helpful from front desk to cleaners. Being partially disabled this hotel is idealy placed for both sight-seeing and central for shopping all within walking distance.
We like the location....very close to the train station, the boat taxi, the waterfront, restaurants and visiting sites. The room was rather plain, but the mattresses were very comfortable. We wished that the breakfast period could have been extended a little later. It was a bit of a challenge while on vacation to make it down by 9:00 so as to be finished by 9:30.
