We liked how clean the rooms were, the big pool (even though we did not get to spend much time there), and the fact that the rooms have fridges and microwaves! We also enjoyed the complementary breakfast buffet! The front staff was also very friendly! There was not much to complain about. There was just one instance where one of the younger staff members at the breakfast buffet seemed a bit rude and it seemed she just didn't want to be there. But other than that, the other staff was very nice.
The customer service at this location is really outstanding. Very friendly and accommodating. The room was clean enough, the bed was comfortable and clean, but the carpets could use a wash as they felt a bit dirty under bare feet. The main complaint we had was due to a smell that kept increasing over our 3 nights stay. We think it must have been coming from the toilet or the shower drain. We thought to ask the front desk about checking it out but decided to deal with it thinking it would fade. It didn't. But overall we had a nice experience. Dirty carpet, smell
I liked the breakfast in the morning. The servers always had a smile and a good morning when you walked in. The access the pool was very open and we had people coming in off the streets asking to use our wristbands for access. We told the front desk and they asked them to leave but we were put in a spot when they were brought up to us and was asked to identify them. Also a large problem with unattended children in the pool. I told a security guard about it and he just told the kids to go get their parents. He never took any real action until the group started yelling at each other and said the were going back to their room to get a razor to "slice and dice your pretty little face". He then took them to their room and they didn't return that day.. I really feel that a pool monitor is needed during pool hours to make it a more pleasurable experience.
Locations to medical center excellent. Walking distance to numerous restaurants, grocery store, etc. Microwave and mini-refrigerator in room. Housekeeping staff helpful and friendly when you need towels, etc. Dated, dingy, shabby. Toilet not bolted down. Extremely noisy. Furnishings seemed from 1980s and looked that worn.
The pool and courtyard area are very nice with healthy plants and decor. Breakfast was decent too. The common areas of the hotel are very tired and in need of a complete face-lift. These areas were almost what would be considered "dirty". Our room was decent but the bathroom was marginal. Very close to the USF and Busch Gardens. I'm sure when this place was built it was really something- but it is far from anything special now. Staff were nice and friendly.
Found a USED feminine product in the bathtub AFTER I took a bath in it. It didn't belong to me!! Didn't even see/notice it. The manager was rude and highly unprofessional when I called to complain. I came to the front desk and could see how nasty she was to another guest while explaining their bill. I left and called corporate guest relations to file my complaint. Its been more than 24 hours and not a peep and certainly not a refund. I am terrified I have contracted something from this disgusting hotel.
1st floor room, I forgot to ask for 2nd floor
Well kept facility and the staff was kind and attentive
Nothing Everything. There were families living in this hotel, people smoking drugs in the parking lot, very very unsafe environment.
Quiet, clean room with comfortable bed. Maid service left the pillows, radio and furniture were I placed them, rather than resetting everything to their "proper" places. There was an open, easily accessible electric outlet next to the bedside table for plugging in a phone charger without having to dig around behind the bed. Bathroom shower grab bar was corroded at bottom, leaving rust stains and metal flakes on washcloth hung there. Free breakfast did not have any "grab and go" items, like muffins or pasteries. They had cold cereal and a full cooked to order line, but nothing for those of us who were running late for our morning meetings. (This was a business trip, so I was on a tight schedule.)
Very comfortable bed. Clean room. Loved the pool area. Out of date bathroom, old and dirty looking but not. Did not like location of room but everything else was very nice.
Clean Room Friendly Staff The property and buildings are old and in need of updates. The room was clean and had been mostly updated but you have to get over the appearance of the outside first, which almost prevented me from wanting to open the door to the room.
Its the perfect location right by Busch Gardens and easy to find Room was DIRTY, there was hair and debris all over the bathroom floor. Red stains all over the carpet and the bottom of our door didn't properly close. Also, the staff was nice but we arrived to find all 3 outside smoking right by the entrance
ALL THE KIDS!
I went in thinking it was a better la Quinta, but was very disappointed when arriving. The rooms are old and outdated. Mold in the shower. Horrible neighborhood and RUDE staff. Spend a few more dollars and go somewhere else!
Morning continental breakfast was offered but with limited choices. Beds were old and not very comfortable. We actually asked for and exchanged rooms as the first one had a distinct animal smell. We asked and found out that La Quinta seems to pride itself on being "pet friendly". Thus, the resultant cat smell in our first assigned room. The second one smelled a little musty but did not have such an overpowering and distinct animal aroma. We would have moved to another hotel but had already pre-paid through a discount hotel locator.
This is an older hotel but the room was clean and the property was mostly well kept. Some parts of the hotel showed their age, shower would not stay at set temperature
Location is convenient to Busch Gardens Hotel lost all water pressure. Small beds.
Location was great. We could watch the fireworks shows at Busch Gardens from our balcony or the pool. The breakfast was decent and the staff was friendly. The pool was nice and was open late....a nice cool off after walking around the park all day. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. Walking distance to several restaurants. We wish that the hotel offered a shuttle to the park entrance. I would gladly pay the hotel something rather than pay the 17 bucks to park and still have to walk pretty far at Busch to the tram. We did try to just walk directly from the room to the park but with small kids it was kind of long.(about a mile). That's not any fault but our own ambition. We still had fun.
After having to check out of a previous hotel for horrible conditions we were able to find a room at La Quinta. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The second room we stayed in had the strong odor of mildew, we tried to air the room out and spraying air freshener but it did not help.
The bathroom was renovated. Old and broken furniture. Old and stained carpet. Dirt comforters. We found food between our sheets.
The first room had a strong urine odor so I requested a different room and the staff (I think her name was Wendy) was super nice and accommodating. My fiancé and I stayed here and we both work nights and sleeping during the day at this hotel is not recommended. You can hear the doors slamming all day long. I had two pets with me and both of them found boiled peanut shells on the floor by the air conditioning unit (which was super old and outdated) so housekeeping could definitely do a better job. At least the sheets were clean but still, pretty gross. The area around the hotel is not a nice area at all! There are constantly random people walking through the parking lot of all hours of the day. Police do patrol the area ( I saw many patrol officers throughout my stay). Overall I would not stay here again.
Size of room was great, bathroom was nice, comfortable stay. The bedsheets were stained, the fridge couldn't keep things cold, and there should be a vending machine on the second floor.
Staff was very nice and helpful! They even have a shuttle service at a very small fee. Great value for the price! Would definitely stay again
The staff is always amazing here, from management to housekeeping. They go out of your way to make you feel special. The rooms are spacious, well done and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and the staff even took time to help my daughter. The breakfast area wasn't well stocked with silverware, glasses and plates. The lobby seemed a little crowded and there wasn't someone around when I wanted to order a coffee.
the location is excellent if you plan to go to busch gardens, the rooms are suites but priced as regular rooms which is incredible value for money. the breakfast should have more available options.
That I paid for a king suite and without notifying me they just gave me double beds & didn't try to accommodate me
Rooms were nice enough. I'd return for on business trip but not on a vacation. Half of the staff was very friendly, the other half acted bothered if you asked a question or needed something. The location is close to Universal. It's fine if you want to drive every where. Though, next time we'll stay on International at the Hyatt or Embassy. Honestly, you can walk to lots of restaurants and touristy spots from almost any hotel there. The pillows were terrible, my neck hurt the entire trip. Breakfast and Kickback had the same menu everyday, with the exception of one or two rotating items. Based on the description we thought the selection would be much better.
I love everything about this place that was my third times staying with them The need to upgrade tv provides. i had of those little rainy day, and all i wanted to do stay in watch tv, and most of the channels didn't work because of the rain. Need to upgrade on that
The convenient location to the places I chose to visit, the wonderful staff, the free breakfast each morning
Good comfort a bit far from the town center
the staff here were the best that we encountered in all of the hotels we stayed. freindly, helpful, simply great
I went to the Wingate at Tampa USF with my daughter to attend her college orientation. The hotel is right across the campus, it is extremely convenient, very clean, the staff is welcoming and helpful. It definitely was a very positive experience. Only downfall, the walls are too thin and both nights we stayed, we could hear people talking and laughing in the next room. When I mentioned this to the gentleman at the reception counter, he apologized but said they get this remark quite a few times, unfortunately. Perhaps something could be done with this problem? Another little comment, is that it would be nice to have the option to have just regular eggs for breakfast in the morning as opposed to the stuffed tuna/chicken or other (?) omelette that they have.
Everything about it was easy and clean. Breakfast could be better . . .
The hotel is excellent, the staff is very friendly and made ourselves at home, the room is nice and clean, the location is very good really close to Busch Gardens and has many restaurants around. The hotel provides a shuttle service to the Busch Gardens wich is very convenient! It's an excellent quality/benefit ratio and for sure we would stay there again!! No negative points at all!
Clean comfortable bed and bathroom. Great shower head and super A/C! Nice staff. Convenient location for my trip. Also very good breakfast - nice selection of foods for this type breakfast included with room. NO - everything worked for me.
Nice clean hotel in a nice area close to Busch Gardens. Nothing
Very good service nice hotel and room good buffet breakfeat.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean and comfortable.
Location ran out of breakfast items
Very comfortable overall; I have a hard time sleeping in general away from home but I slept like a baby here.
Nothing - couldn't wait to leave This is a pet-friendly hotel. The night we stayed, it was like living in a dog kennel. Carpets, pillows and mattresses all stained - afraid to touch anything. Quality of breakfast food sub-standard (cheap off-brands). Some LaQuintas are decent - this one is not. Have stayed at this one several times and it keeps getting worse. Probably will not stay again.
The hotel room was really clean, big and comfortable beds. Me and my son were exhausted after a fun day at Bush Gardens, it was nice to drive up the road check in and relax.
Where to start.... My room smelled like mold, it was so bad I got ill and had to leave. The hotel was dirty, loud. The weight room was filthy and only two machines worked. The pool area was horrible the pool op and dirty and the location was hurting. Like I said for the money it was the worst experience I've ever had. Everything!!!!!
When I go to breakfast i like to sit, watch the news and baby a cup of coffee. Nothing like a very small cup to ruin that. I guess maybe 5-6 oz coffee/juice ups in breakfast area. If hard boiled eggs are peeled, i like that. I have never been to a breakfast with peel you own eggs. Maybe that's a new cost saver. Summed up, they saved about 35-50 cents to loose a customer in a highly competitive market. Sorry, but i smoke. Going outside is fine, walking across the parking lot is fine. But give me a bench! .
The hotel was very clean, smelled nice, and the staff was cordial. The free breakfast had great variety. There were waffles, yogurt, bagels with multiple topping options, a selection of cold and hot cereals, fresh fruit, coffee, juices, and hard boiled eggs. Housekeeping did a great job every day. I always came back to a turned down room. Having the mini fridge was helpful because it allowed me to save on restaurant expenses by bringing my own food. The air conditioning continuously worked well so I always came back to a cool room after being out in the Florida summer heat. There was no shuttle service available, even to immediately close locations as USF across the street. There was a wet patch on the floor of my room between the far bed and the window that perpetuated all four nights but there was nothing on the ceiling so it must have been coming from under the floor.
Breakfast room wasn't taken care off, poor maintenance and poor daily service
The mattresses were amazingly comfortable! Cleanliness needs to be looked at!!
Room was damp, smelled of mold, carpet dirty, tv didnt workall the same in three rooms we tried! Wouldn't recommend it at all.
Everything was excellent. Very clean and comfortable room. Cannot beat it for the price!!
The beds could be better, but the room setup, location and staff were perfect. They need new beds. They were wore down. Everything else was wonderful.
Good location, not on a main road with lots of traffic noise. Great front desk staff Completely disgusting. Nothing is clean in the rooms. Our feet were black from the carpet, stains on the couches including mold! Mold and caked on dust in the vents. One of our rooms smelled of urine. We were brought a pack and play with black stains all over it! The front desk staff was so nice and understanding when we decided to leave, packed up our kids and left for another hotel at 9:30pm!
The breakfast was the only thing liked. There was mold in the room I stayed in and needed extra towels, I had two other people with me. I went to tell them about it and they said to come back in the morning to tell the manager. So I did. The manager on duty wrote it down and took my name and number. Then proceeded to ask if I wanted compensation for it, yeah...a bit. So I'm hoping their general manager will call. I highly doubt it. 2 out of 5 stars.
Rooms not clean at all
Clean rooms , great sheets , overall satisfied. half the hotel was under renovations but no disturbances at night. Not even really a negative aspect.
New rooms. Great managers. Good breakfast and shuttle service.
Loved the separate sitting area. Great for adults at night while kids sleep and great for kids in morning to allow parents to sleep Refrigerator didn't work, no toilet paper in room on arrival, sink didn't drain. .. but as newly renovated, figured we were first to stay in room
Brand new. Everything fresh and clean. Staff courteous. Rooms small but adequate. Guests in courtyard until 3:30 am partying.
This hotel was very clean, modern, up-to-date, and inexpensive. I was impressed by how nice it was for an Inn. walls are a little thin
Staff was very friendly. Rooms were clean. AC in room 333 sounded like a diesel generator starting up every time it comes on. Very difficult to watch tv or get a good night's sleep.
What you posted on your website was not any thing like the actual hotel!
I needed a hotel quickly so I could be close to an early appointment at USF the next day. Kayak helped find the hotel but the price was so low I had my doubts. I shouldn't have. The hotel was going through a transition from a Holiday Inn to a Holiday Inn with a new owner so it was renamed The Grand Suites. The staff went out of their way to treat me well. For an extraordinary low price I got a suite in a perfect location. It was a pleasant surprise. I can count on one hand when I've gotten a truly good deal on a hotel and this was one of them. Clearly the former owners had let the hotel decline and it badly needed a face lifting. The furniture in my room was a bit frayed.
newly renovated room....Room was larger than expected plenty of room for me my husband and 3 teenagers to move around. Hotel pool was very nice and clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I look forward to staying here again when in the area. Nothing was wrong
It is not a Holiday Inn yet.
Staff was excellent. Very accommodating.
The hotel was very clean and roomy, the layout was that of a small studio apartment. The staff was very nice and welcoming. The park is really close to some good restaurant and Busch Gardens is a mile away. Which if you do not mind the walk will save you $17 in parking. The hotel is still under construction which made it difficult to navigate. The construction workers in the morning were a bit loud. The continental breakfast was also sub-par.
The hotel is located directly across the street from Busch Gardens. The furniture was broken, torn, and dirty/dengy in apperance. The overall cleanliness of the room was not of good standards.
Nothing the whole place was disgusting Everything, it was unsafe, disgusting, dirty
Location was great. Place was dirty and roach infested.
Staff were friendly. The pool was green and cloudy to the point you could not see the bottom. There was a tractor trailer with old furniture underneath in the parking lot, not a nice view. There was a roach smashed on the bathroom wall. There were large repairs on the wall that were unpainted. The smell of the room was really bad. We stayed 10 minutes and left. Really feel we should not have lost that first night's rent because this hotel needed to be flagged.
The front desk staff were friendly There was a trailer in the parking lot with several pieces of old furniture underneath, this was our first impression. The outside entrance to the room was very dingy and smelled like a bar. Inside the room there were large patches on the wall where paint was missing and the drawers of the dresser look like it had mold on it. There was a dead roach smashed on the wall. The pool was green and so cloudy you could not see the bottom. We stayed for a few minutes and decided to stay in the Holiday next door.
Good location Smell of cigarettes, dirty carpet ,dirty floor in bathroom, j oles in the walls, dirty windows, a lot of noise ,night staff don't offers a good customers service, i dont recomended.
That it was right next to Busch Gardens Everything
Air condition was set autimatic and was on for 1 min and off for 20 min .very hot.People at the side of my room were noking on the door and calling the hold nigth and the hold morning couldn't sleep .One tower was dirty.
Price Everything else. Everything about this place was poor. It was incredibly dirty, poorly maintained, and seemed like a place that has a lot of guests getting up to no good. We had men shouting outside our window at 1am, toddlers crying and roaming around at 3am. It did not have everything as described when we were booking at the photos were misleading. This is an extremely old run-down hotel and I wouldn't recommend staying here unless you HAD to!
Very close proximity to Busch gardens Room had an overwhelming smoke smell staff not friendly took forever to check in one set of towels provided 1 was cloth face cloth towel!
It's a decent hotel for a cheap price. Nice sized bed and okay room. Didn't expect more or less. I'd get it again if I'm trying to stay on budget. Not much to complain about.
Close to Busch Gardens and places to eat. As soon as we walked in, I went to put bag on dresser and there was a cockroach. We got there really late so I said oh well. Then there was a washcloth in the microwave. Did not use microwave. They only give you 2 bath towels, even if there are 4 people. Never again will I stay there. $70/night would have been a great deal if it was at least clean.
They have a excellent staff, everyone i spoke to at the front desk were more than helpful and very friendly. Free shuttle was very convenient. Hotel was very clean and we would definitely stay their again.
Pillows and bed were just ok The desk and cleaning staff were mostly nice enough but had "attitudes". Well, there are so many negative issues. Here is a list: ROACHES BROKEN FRIDGE...said it would be fixed by the time we returned that day---NOPE and the room wasn't cleaned or towels brought in that day at all!! Not touched. We switched rooms. BATHROOM SINK/--water trickled out of faucet and shower old and hard to turn on. SCAREY, RUN DOWN AREA WITH VERY SMALL POOL that was next to parking lot which "sketchy ppl " walking by or stopping to stare. WIFI--free BUT VERY RARELY WORKED and if it did, you had to STAND near the door!!!!!! BREAKFAST--mostly disappointing. WE HAD TO GET OUT OF THERE TO BETTER HOTEL NEVER EVER RETURNING!!
The size of the room and bathroom was larger than my co-workers Hilton room. Beds were ok and I liked that there was a choice of soft or firm pillows. The area I stayed in was pretty ghetto. I was stopped immediately after exiting my car for money the first night. The hotel grounds and interior were nice though, just bad area.
The hotel was very close to Busch Gardens, We went back and forth a few times during the day and did the night excursion, so a few trips, But since it was so close it was not a bother. The rooms are clean and the staff is very friendly. I like that in a hotel... Breakfast was very good for a buffet, nothing overly fancy but good and filling. Whirlpool did not work in the room but I am sure that will be fixed soon. The rest of the hotel was in very good repair and well groomed.
nothing not located in a safe neighborhood , the room wasnt that nice smelled bad , plus i always find ppl smoking weed outside and the smell was awful coming in the room from the AC , several times ppl were trying to come in my room to open the door from outside while its locked from the inside . i wouldn't recommend this to anyone its not worth the money to stay at plus you wont be feeling that safe while you are sleeping
That the bed seemed clean. The front desk person accused me of stealing an iron when there was no iron in the room to begin with. He was foreign so that made the communication extremely difficult.
Cheap rate at a decent place The fact that it is located in the wrong part of town. This hotel is located in the "ghetto" and I felt like I could be robbed at any time. You literraly were in the wrong part of town, and had to cross I-4 to see the nicer side of tampa.
Good location. Property looked like it was well kept up. The staff was nice. The bathrooms need some work. Maybe some remodeling
new rooms with new vanities and tubs and toilet. new bed and mattress. our king sized bed room even had a 2 seat bar table. manual ac. tile floor cockroaches. unswept floor.
Frendly staff, easy access to i4 and Busch Gardens. Weak coffee at breakfast is my only complaint.
Cheap and clean Wifi was weak.
There were a lot of drugs there a felt very unsafe. The room also smelled of mold!
Staff was nice and eager to help. The place was quiet (low season) although it is close to the highway, which was a good surprise. The Hotel is 3 miles away from Ybor, which is good to get out at night and offers a taxi service for those who may have a hard time driving then. The swimming pool was clearly under our expectations. The water was so blurred that I even feared meeting face to face with a Gator...
Nice TV in the room. I could smell cigarette smoke coming into my room. The room was filthy! No restaurants nearby, and no snake vending machine provided.
The staff were very friendly. The rooms were clean and it was in a great location, near everything .We were just minutes from Ybor City. And Casino. this seems to be more of an extended stay place. We did see a security guard nightly. The pool was nice , unfortunately I didn't get a chance to get in. I would have liked to had a place to actual hang my clothes instead of having to lay them down on the suitcase rack.
King size bed The door doesn't shut unless you slam it. The water doesn't get hot enough in the shower.
Nothing at all. Didn't stay in that hotel. First the customer service rep at the front desk was so nasty and incompetent. Instead of looking for a solution he keep himself saying that he don't care. His name is Derek. Don't recommend any one with kids to stay in that hotel. Loose my money and have to pay to stay in another hotel because of them.
I had to change the room 3 times. The first room had a big hall in the wall, smelled like cigarrete and the sheets had stains. The sesond room was better looking but the door was very had to open and the toilet was broke. The thir room had again a hole in the wall and again smelled like cigarrete. I understand this was not a 5 stars Hotel, but this was too much.. I have been in smaller hotels and little villages with better apparence than this hotel. Also the service was horrible i had to walked to the lobby 4 time for a key to be able to open one of the room!!!
Took one look at the room and checked out. Was afraid to even sit down while I looked for another hotel.
It is very close to Busch Gardens. The guests around us. People look dangerous, strange, no nice People, noisy. ... not a good place for families. We stayed for 6 nights and they never clean The room, just change towels. Only twice they made The beds. The locations around the room were so Dirty, especially the stairs where they put the garbage.
Not much My husband had to change rooms three times because of marijuana smoke or smell in the room. Then when we finally did settle there was still the smell in the curtains. The pool is locked up and the towels were very run down. It was not a good feeling outside of the hotel.
Not a single thing about this place is acceptable I don't know what was worse the rudest and most incompetent staff I've ever met or the gang fights and prostitutes all over the parking lot
Unsafe area. Would not recommend.
Smoke smell in a room, nasty, dirty, air con. broken.I take 2 rooms, one for guests, and I feel bad for them, I took in this dirty and smelly place. No breakfast no comfort,I coud not sleep. Smoke smell in a room, nasty, dirty, air con. broken.I take 2 rooms, one for guests, and I feel bad for them, I took in this dirty and smelly place. No breakfast no comfort,I coud not sleep.
The carpet in the room was nasty and, although I asked for a non-smoking room, the was a strong smell of cigarettes in the room. I saw people smoking on the hallways and not in the so-called "designated areas." There were crumbs on top of the little refrigerator in the room; if you looked behind the toilet there was pile of dirt and precarious plummbing. The mirror was dirty, the phone had piles of dust and black hair on it as if no one occupied that room in a long time. Overall, it was dirty and I used sanitizing wipes to clean some of these areas. For these reasons and bad customer service. I would never stay again at this hotel. It was my first and last time!
