The room is too small. This is not a 4-star standard hotel The bed is only 90 cm wide, and is short. The equipment is old. The window is a little dirty This room can not match its price in any sense. The pic of the hotel is not real, not in the same level with other hotel in China. The most important thing, the attitude of the staff we met for check-in is. terrible. You can made little adjustment after you check in Hoping other visitor check the hotel before you go.
The hotel is in a really nice central area, close to the subway station and shopping mall. The room have hair-dryers, fridge and internet (although internet is not free). Very good price-quality.
good location but room was too small do not feel confortable with security.
It was very frustrating for me that they couldn't speak english and clearly they were not understanding what were my needs. When I checked in, they put me in a 'second' building which is for extended stays. It was not the most luxurious room but it was clean and had what you need. Very small though. Anyways, I thought I could deal with it until I found out that there was no internet conection. I called them and explained what was the situation and NO ACTION was taken. I asked to talk to the manager and after 5 different call transfers, I got to the manager. The manager did not speak english very well and in his broken english he said they were going to send an 'engineer.' After 5 calls and the last one was not very polite, the engineer came and they found out that there was no service at all. They gave me another room in their 'main' building which seemed to be more a hotel room. I can't complain about this as it was a nice hotel room.It is clean, it is very close to the expo , it...
This hotel was great in terms of cleanliness and helpful staff. The rooms were very nice (although the single is just that, a small room), and cable TV was a plus (although for English-speakers, your choices are CNN International, HBO, and CCTV 9). The staff was also very helpful, although their English is somewhat limited (but better than average I thought). There is also 24-hour security and room service, although I never tried it. Of course, with the price that travel website offered, this hotel is an excellent pick, except for one thing: location. The location of this hotel is in Xuhui District, Shanghai, which is not bad. But it is at least a 20-minute walk to the nearest subway station (either Damuqiao Rd or Luban Rd Stations) each way, and at night when it is freezing (in the winter) or when you are lugging your luggage, or when trying to catch a train (by subway, it is at least 40 minutes to Shanghai Main Railroad Station, and around 30 to Shanghai South), it is not necessaril...
the room was very small and the bed as hard as a rock but for the price and convenient location it was ok.
During my stay, I feel very comforatable. I can walk out to the nearby restaurants to eat what I want. There is a gym for table tennis across the hotel which is very handy for me . Nearby the Gym there is a large local supermarket store, pretty much you can buy any food or necessity there. From Pudong airport, take #3 airport bus costs 20RMB to get there. The bus stop is just across the street,a walking distance. Also from this stop, you can take the same bus to go to Xu Jia Hui big shopping mall. only one bus stop away. Next time I go to Shanghai, I would consider staying at the same hotel.
We completed the trip to Shanghai in November 2010. Location of hotel is convenient but its appeal is not impressive at all. The neighborhood is full of over-spill sewage smell like most other Shanghai neighborhoods except Pudong New Area. We booked a room in the main building on the 30th floor. The room was clean but with two major discrepancies. Even when we set the aircon to cool #40not heat#41 only warm air came out and the room temperature kept going up beyond 28 degree C. The shower was cheaply renovated in early 2010 with no shower tub only two pieces of placey-glass glued to the floor. Water leaked out under the door into the bath room the small tiles covering the shower floor kept coming lose and the shower door handle was seriously rusted. Luckily Shanghai was my wifes birthplace and we speak both Mandarin and Shanghaiese so communicating with staff was not a problem. After 5 days we checked out around 9 am and the maid showed up within 10 minutes insisted that we ha...
Veiw ,room space, bufe, recriation area, guest mix, communication. No fruits in room,no change of bed sheets daily,no up grade incentive when long stay if occupancy is low
The only complaint I have about this hotel is that their internet service only is available for PC-users (Windows) but not to Mac-users (OS).
The location because it was near the shanghai stadium where i had business in. Staff were not very friendly. I must point out that the facilities were a bit old already. I understand that it's a bit of an old hotel already but facilities should be kept well maintained. For instance, it was such a disappointment that the shower drainage in our bathroom was clugged. and the towels were not changed even if we had placed them in the tub already. Housekeeping just folded the same towels and placed them back on the towel rack. Service didn't meet our standards.
The 24hour Deli, location to Metro and very helpful staff.
I had some routine wishes staff dealt with this properly, also all staff spoke adeate english
Excellent room service and cleaning Staffs english could have been better. Receiving messages was a problem.
Excellent Hotel staff. This is the first time that I see staff on the reception asking politely rude Chinese customers to wait their turn. As you know in China there is a habit to immediately shout your question to the staff, even if they are busy with other customers. China has still a long way to go to educate their citizens to wait their turn, no matter how important they think they are.
Convenience of location
Central location and overall physical ambiance inside the hotel. Easy excess from Airport The front desk staff was extremely rude. I stayed in this hotel when it was managed by Sheraton group and the staff was excellent. Jin Jiang is a large hotelier group and should look into the matter seriously
location is alright, not too busy street the check in could not find my reservation, discriminate against kayak.com or booking.com customers. they were very rude. the executive room is fake, it's all the same kind of room, so just book the cheapest one. very very poor value for the money
nice clean hotel staff was not very friendly or helpful and nothing special about this hotel
tennis courts over priced
Every person that worked there learned my name over 6 days and the staff was very friendly. The room was very quit. I would recommend this hotel to everyone. Clean, quit, and great staff.
Helpful and friendly staff.
0 1- I REACH HOTEL AT 9.00 PM AND THEY ASK TO WAIT FOR ONE HOUR TO MAKE ROOM REDAY. 2- DURING MY WAITING I GOT COFFE AND GREEN TEA AT THE RESTAURANT COST ME 180RM. 3- ROOM NOT CLEAN AT ALL. 4- NO MENY BAR AND WHEN I AM DOING CHECKOUT ASK ME WHAT DID YOU USE FROM THE MENY BAR. 5- RE USING THE PERSONAL STUFF AGAING ( SAMPOO AND SHOWER GEL ) IT WAS HAFE. AND MORE MORE MORE
The service of the staff was excellent
Very nice 4 star hotel, english speaking stuff, great connection with the Metro, air conditioning (late June). no :)
I stay at the Jianguo the last fouur years most of the times I am in Shanghai. All in this hotel are good including the location and the flexibility to move everywhere in Shanghai. My only compaint during my stay is that they have considerably limited the smoking area in the lobby restaurant and bar and this is real uncomfortable. This time the room was a little noisy due to the lift being three rooms away. All the others excellent as usual.
Location. Size, - seemed intimate and friendly after the Pudong Shangri-La. Food.
Good buffet meals good room service and housekeeping helpfull doormen with taxi and directions and translation
its the mixing between western and east guests/food. Then there is the room rate and the very good location of this fine hotel. I always stay in it, if iam coming to Shanghai. I dont like to stay elsewere
Very friendly staff, excellent breakfast and the fact that breakfast stars from 6.00 a.m. N.A.
very convenient location
Nothing in particular. Your in room internet service is dishonest and will prevent me from staying there again.
I have stayed at Fenyang GBH several times. The main reason is the excellent location (I really like this area, but others might prefer the Bund or bars on Hengshan Road). The garden surrounds are pleasant. The internet is getting better at this hotel, but is still unstable. Food at the hotel is not for me, but there are many options close by. The mattress is too firm for me. Being a state owned enterprise, customer service is not a strong point, though various staff will provide reasonable service when asked.
great rooms large size with plenty of art deco character No satellite tv channels in English terrible breakfast and even though i changed rooms twice I could not find a room with both the internet and outside phone line working
Perfect location, small luxury hotel. Ideal for romantic short stay.
Nice design, good concept that try to present art and culture of old shanghai by renovate the old building. well trained staff ! they all can speak english well and helpful. So plain breakfast and less choices. Just like continental breakfast that is not the concept of the hotel. they can do better than this by serving gourmet breakfast as the price for room is not low. By the way, the toilet in the room could not be flushed on the last day. One last thing is the payment. I did book with booking.com with USD but the hotel would charge in RMB. this amount converted to my currency in thai baht will have about 10-15% different even I paid by credit card. the hotel could do nothing and insisted that they could charge the card only in RMB currency ( that the amount is higher than USD ).
Design of the rooms is very nice.
Great location in the French Concession; very close to a metro stop, so it was very convenient getting around. Also, the room was enormous and redolent of Old Shanghai. The breakfast, while ample, was a bit so-so.
The staff is so gentle and professional .the environment is comfortable and suitable...I spent I great time..
The decor and artwork of the rooms was very stylish and comfortable, and quite avant garde Noise from traffic
.Nothing I thougt the hotel was style over substance, the staff not particularly helpful, it took 4 attempts to get the air conditioning working. The hotel manager does not speak to guests. The breakfast was a disgrace. I will not be rebooking
Hotel was wonderful, but they had no confirmation of our booking through Booking.com. Fortunately they were not busy so accomodated us.
We spent 4 nights in this amazing boutique hotel. We were given very special attention and the staff was so kind that we just felt like we were home. The very personalized service we received was an absolute highlight. The rooms were great as well, very spacious, all different (we got the chance to visit them), nicely decorated and very "design". The Molton Brown amenities were a plus. I would recommend this hotel to everyone - my friends, familiy, and colleagues.
Because my office is right across the road, that's why I decided to stay in this hotel. Internet charge is quite expensive compared to other hotels within the vicinity.
Ease of check in and out. Convenient location. The cafeteria menu prices did not include tax, so on my last day in China I was just a few RMB short of cash to pay for a snack. Why not put the price you must pay on your menus?
The rooms were clean and comfortable, though a bit on the small side. The indoor swimming pool was very nice with excellent changing and showering facilities. The breakfast (excluded in the room rate) was not the best value for money. And we asked for a non-smoking room but people in the rooms around ours were constantly smoking so the whole floor smelled of smoke.
Very comfortable with efficient staff. Breakfast was good with adequate space and food options.
Fantastic atmosphere of old house. Too small room comparing high price. Poor and expensive breakfast.
The ambience, the decorations in the hotel are great. The location is ideal, in a quiet neighbourhood which is what I'd wanted. There seems to be a lack of personnel who has a good knowledge of fine restaurants suggestions and visiting pionts in shanghai. Some of the staff need to improve their English and communication skills.
The restaurant is not living up to the general level of the hotel. The ambience of the hotel is fantastic.
the hotel is beautiful and historic certain details are not attended to. Water drainage problem at the shower.
Loved the Architecture and design echoing the original 1930s.The feeling of luxury and comfort in the rooms, though some what wasted on a single traveler as my wife was back in Sydney. The location is terrific with good shopping and restaurants. TV reception could be improved, but only channel surfed for five minutes....
A memorable stay. An great choice if you are looking for a change from the typical 5 stars room from the typical chain hotels.
Big beds. Big rooms. Great bath and showers. Effective cleaning of room. Fair rate for room inclusions. TV did not get cable in english - VERY limiting to international non-Chinese people. It would be a reason we would not book again.... Also access to internet without needing your own laptop, onsite.
Mansion Hotel is a very charming place with an unique interior. Especially the entrance hall where you can sit for a nice cup of tea or drink is a reflection of the "good old days" of the 1930's of Shanghai. Even better is the terasse on the 5th floor with a magnificent view over the French Consession.
The staff were outstanding!
Great for getting around Shanghai, less than 100m from the undergound station
Excellent, easy access to every where by next door metro station, high class neighborhood, 7 min shopping center (area) by walking.
The room was very spacious and clean. No noise. Free internet access. Metro right next door which operates during the day. Alternatively, the next nearest metro is just 10 minute walk up the road. Ideal for the business executive, or tourist who does not want to be in the main tourist area. I would definitely stay in the hotel again. Airconditioner does not self regulate in the room. So temperature was too hot. But was able to switch it off and open the window.Bit of a smell in the bathroom. But this seems to be quite normal in China.
Value for money, good hotel. 5-10 min by taxi to all main points of interest, metro station is also close to.
. the hotel located right in front of the metro line 7 exit 4 . the metro staytion name is the same as the address of the hotel road , safe place and 15 minutes walk to shopping area. Room and baht room are clean and spacious. over all is good hotel ..... none
Very clean rooms and the maids are constantly on their toes to keep it so. Staff keen to help out guests with any request, even if they might not always understand what you are saying. Construction of the new subway outside can be a nuisance, get a room facing south if possible.
Hotel is near the city center. 15 minute by walk. Hotel's stuff was old. Hall of breakfast so airless and dark. Hotel staff is not polite. Once we wanted change money, she has check the money many times.
Good position in Shanghai. Excellent staff, breakfast and room quality
quality fittings, & two good size beds in twin room young children charged half price for breakfast. breakfast is good, but expensive - better to take the breakfast inclusive deal.
Excellent location, 5 star service and feeling, for china a very good breakfast buffet, staff speaks excellent english and is helpful. Once fixed the internet at the room television worked great - nice feature! I arrived early (7am) but there was no flexibility on early check-in, the breakfast is too expensive if you do not have it included in the room price (150rmb = 24usd) The cheap room is very small, you have to like the feeling of train travel (2.2m wide)
They don't turn on the air conditioning at nights. Stuffy and couldn't sleep. No it good for a business hotel as a result.
Great hotel, great location, just off the beaten track
The location is great-near a tube station and surrounded of nice international restaurants
It was relatively inexpensive. There were questionable stains in the upholstery in the room. The walls were very thin, and so noise from the street and in the hallway can be heard at all hours of the day and night. It is not very tourist friendly-- no English speaking staff. Also, it's not in a good area of Shanghai, so at night, people would come by the door and slip cards of prostitutes under the door. It's difficult for taxi drivers to find because it's not very well known.
