Front desk staff was pleasant and helpful. Rooms were clean and very comfortable. Free shuttle to Westlake Center was convenient. No free shuttle to/from airport. Had to use Shuttle Express at $19 per person per trip. Terribly slow elevator, and no way to enter stairwell from first floor except by going through the pool area (when it is unlocked). No ice machines, but pre-bagged ice frozen into solid clumps. No on-site laundry. Laundry at sister property Watertown one block away is inconvenient, as it is just a stacked W/D in a tiny closet with nowhere to sit nearby while you wait. When changing rooms, we accidentally left a few items of clothing in the wardrobe. We realized this a few hours later, but the items were gone and the room service staff claimed they had not seen them. I take this to mean they either disposed of them or stole them. No compensation was offered. I cannot recommend staying here.
Quiet clean and convenient. Great staff.
Friendly staff and a lot of amenities. Could hear people in the hall at night.
The hospitality is top notch! Staff was amazing, very accommodating, rooms were very clean, and the offered services made our trip run smoothly. University Inn was exactly what we want and needed.
Walking distance to UW campus and the campus neighborhoods. A shuttle bus provides great access to other nearby locations, such as downtown. The staff was very helpful. The wifi was very slow. Although the hotel has a pool, there is no fitness center on site; you need to walk a block to the sister hotel to use the fitness center. Parking is limited.
breakfast and colorful furniture in the lobby They weren't specific about which building (old/ new) you were going to stay in.
This was a good location for me. I liked the fact that they had balcony a (although we were locked in) and I liked the simple fun decor We could not get the room cooled off even with air conditioner on high. Next to elevator which had a gruntled noise with every up/down traveler. No access to the balcony we had (one reason we secured here) we were actually locked in... I mentioned this to the attendant when we were up at 3am - uncomfortably so with heat and noise. They didn't offer anything other than an apology.
Convenient and cozy
Close to UW campus and University Ave which has a lot of restaurants and shops. About a 10 minute drive from downtown so it is away from all the down town traffic and early accessible by bus, light rail or taxi. Rooms were clean and well kept and the balcony off the rooms on the 4th floor were really nice even if the one I was in looked toward the parking lot. The room was a bit smaller than I anticipated for a standard queen but then again I wasn't planning on doing much more than sleeping. I really have no complaints about this hotel.
They were great about letting me park in their garage before my room was ready. They held my luggage for me until I could get in the room. They called me- a real person called me to let me know my room was ready. They had free bicycles you could use. The beds in the rooms are to die for! The room was nice and roomy. They even have a brochure detailig all the restaraunts within walking distance. They thought of everything!!! This was my first time in Seattle. Even though the hotel was excellent, I think I will try and get closer to the Space Needle area if I go back. (I should have done more research on the area I wanted to stay in- which is my fault) BUT it is a superb hotel and would be excellent if you are visiting someone at the University. There is nothing I can say that is negative about this hotel!
Great location and good amenities. A substantial breakfast provided as part of room rate.
I liked that the staff were very accommodating with my dog, watched him while I had dinner out of hotel.
I shoot several modeling portfolios a month. The Watertown is one of my favorite hotel room background for travel shots, especially the suites there.
Surprisingly quiet Beds are incredibly comfortable- a great night's sleep Spacious room and bath/dressing area Robes and slippers Outstanding cafe with several good hot breakfast items Confusing access/approach to hotel (no driveway and "no parking" signs in front). Should get a loading zone at minimum. There's a garage entry, but no signage telling you how to contact front desk or to check in. None would be a problem if you arrive without a rental car.
very modern clean hotel nice large rooms with kitchen free shuttle to the city very secure place quite location close to university a bit expensive and location not down town some of the security features i hadnt seen before seemed a bit extreme like having to use room cards just access the elevator .staff were ok not as nice as other places but did the job in an efficient manner
Location near uw and bus routes staff accommodating needs of guests excellent service of transport afternoon tea and fruit comfortable, homely atmosphere fridge/microwave facility Cardboard plates at breakfast plastic knives and forks
Great hotel and location. Free bike rental, umbrellas, secure parking and washing machines are a huge perk. Overall one of the best deals in Seattle. Nothing
Free parking, walk to any UW event.... They used to do interesting little things to enhance the experience. Now it is just a Hampton or a Courtyard with slightly better art. Also, they assign rooms based on how you made the reservation. My Kayak reservation got me a second floor room next to the elevator, with a view of the dumpster and a coupon for a discount if I booked directly next time. I've stayed in the hotel many many and made the reservation months in advance for a very special occasion. I was disappointed this time..
The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. We needed directions to the UW Medical center and they got us there no problem. By the way, if you have to go to the Medical Center this is an ideal location, very easy to get to from the Watertown. The rooms are comfortably spacious and well appointed. Hardwood floors which is a nice change, since my husband and I both have allergies. There are windows in the room that open for fresh air. Drapes that cover all windows and provide a dark sleeping space, should you like that. The beds are very comfortable and the bedding is allergen free - no feathers! They provide parking at no additional charge. There was a heating unit in the room that we could not get to turn off, so our rest was interrupted during the night. The coffee maker did not work. Not enough chairs in the room; There was a desk chair that was it. No schedule for the TV so could not figure out which channel was which. There is not an identified space in front of the hotel for temporary parking while you go check in.
Free secure parking, Complimentary shuttle service and modern design. One of the male staff was rude and seemed homophobic. Does not have a restaurant and the only local restaurants are located in the noisy local college/university district near the hotel.
Spaciousness and comfort of the room Fitness area was small, cramped and hot.
Vintagey hotel. Nice little cozy sitting lounge; staff super helpful, accommodating and friendly; responded to minor requests quickly. If going to UWash is your mission, this is close to the university and probably better for you. The monorail is a few blocks' walk, so that's an option for able folks. It does have relatively easy freeway access for exploring greater Seattle from the north. Coffee shop below nice for morning coffee. Beds were comfortable and the place was reasonably quiet. Our first night in Seattle, excited to see the city. For $300 ($721 for two nights total) we had no view from a smallish room. No hotel rooftop view, either. The surrounding neighborhood felt dicey--'yellow alert' safe with mostly people begging at the grocery store two blocks away. My teenage daughter and I walked around to find a resto and decided it felt safer to drive, because the whole neighborhood was run down (tho new dorm? construction everywhere) and several characters hanging en masse on the sidewalk a couple blocks over made us feel unsafe. Bad vibe. Not a good intro to Seattle. It's far from the downtown. Since you have to pay for parking at the hotel, it sucks to pay even more to park downtown. Other folks at hotel seemed happy to be there but I felt bad about choosing this one for our first two nights.
Great location w/ parking Mattresses on the old side
close to University Ave and UW beggars nearby; not disclosing there's a parking fee
We got upgraded to a suite, it was perfect for our family to stay overnight. We will definitely stay again next time we are in Seattle. The staff member that checked us in told us we would be able to check in early around 3:00 p.m. and that we could wait in the lobby or they would call us on my cell phone as soon as the room was ready. We never received a call, so came back after dinner around 8:00 pm to pick up our key. Thank goodness we didn't wait in the lobby! The staff that was working when we returned was much more competent and friendly.
I like the location, in the heart of the U-District. Wifi good. The musty smell encompassing the entire room and the front desk offering to spray the room with cleaner instead of offering a different room because it was entirely booked.
Lobby was nice. Staff was nice Parking was horrible. Paid outrageous amount to stay one night .the was no better that econolodge, or motel 6. But paid like it was the hilton
Nice rooms, very comfortable if a bit minimalist. No fan in the bathroom means you get an impromptu sauna. Although it was lovely, you are definitely paying for the location.
Inherently attractive older hotel which needs some adjustment to be more user-friendly For instance, Bath supplies came in fixed containers that didn't work and there weren't outlets to plug things in. Staff were very warm and helpful.
The person who checked us in, Andrew, was more than accommodating. He was so nice and provided some small extras that made my son very happy.
Free coffee at the cafe Room with a view on the 15th floor, spacious and comfortable Apples Morning paper available Elevators always prompt Cafe staff very helpful It was a surprise to pay for parking when it was free last year and did not indicate charge on the website. In general website lacked information such as hours for the cafe.
PLENTY of space. Excellent wifi. I was extremely comfortable.
Big room and can stay many people, facilities are very good.
Nice clean rooms, close to the U district for visiting and dorm move-in. easy to check in. ample free parking. not having choice for tea if one does not drink coffee in the morning.
continental breakfast earliest check-in time was 3 PM, kind of late
Staff was great, Location was perfect , parked the car in a paid lot close to the hotel and walked. Room with sink, bathroom (clean) down the hall. Will go back again.
The location is very good. Easy access to University of Washington, so it is good for students. My friends stayed there fore more than 2 weeks. One of them stayed at a single room. It was located next to the stairs. Even at midnight whenever people use the stairs, there were big noises and he could not sleep a bit. The room was not clean enough even after house keeping service. That was a big problem.
The College Inn is clean and simple and the cheapest place you can stay in Seattle without staying in someplace awful. I'll stay there again happily!
The location was perfect both for accessing the University and the city centre. The vintage air to it was quite nice and cosy but you have to be into vintage...
This was much like a european hostel, but nicer. My room was furnished with antiques. The bed was very comfortable. There were many thick towels and the handsoap was luxurious. I came here, because the College Inn is located directly across the street from Gould Hall where I attended a Gala/Reunion, but I was very pleasantly surprised and I will stay here again. The location is convenient to the UW Campus and the continental breakfast was great. I got to read the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal and the local paper too. There is only one toilet and one urinal in the men's bathroom on the third floor.
1. Near University of Washington; 2. Easy access to/from outside by Public Transports; 3. Near cafe shop, restaurant and shops; Good climate especially in the summer 1. No telephone direct billing to the room no. calling outside the area, it required to purchase phone cart. 2. Required more than one toilet in each floor that ideally every 5 persons required 1 public/sharing toilet
