We were apprehensive about booking this because of the price but it was great. We loved our room, the staff was awesome. The pool and grounds were immaculate. We booked another 5 nights at the end of our trip. They have regular rooms or full kitchens. We had a problem with our room the first night we were there. We called the front desk and immediately had it taken care of. It is obviously an older building but everything was clean and polished.
It was a nightmare trying to get ahold of any personal before our trip and and absolute atrocity that there was nobody in charge afterhours once there. We were placed in a room and told the hotel was at 70%
Old, run down. Dark. Yuck.
Our flight arrived in the evening so we didn't want to pay for a night at the all-inclusive resort when all we would do is sleep that first night, so we chose the Santa Maria. The hotel was close to a bus stop from the airport and right across the street from a Mega supercenter. Rooms were large and comfortable and we used the kitchen for a late supper and breakfast the next morning before we moved to the all-inclusive resort. If you don't mind the lack of an ocean view, the Santa Maria would be fine for a longer stay. Our suite was on the third floor and there was no elevator so we had to carry our bags up the stairs. There was also a small puddle of water under the refrigerator but it was quickly cleaned up after a call to the front desk.
Location, we like San Jose del Cabo, very low key & peaceful. Santa Maria Hotel & Suits are comfortable, clean & conveinent. Great staff & room rates.
Excellent base location. I stayed there as a single female traveler while exploring the Southern tip of Baja. I always felt safe, the property is immaculate, has a kitchenette and is right across from the Mega and public transportation. Large comfortable rooms, king beds, large at screen tv and I even found an English speaking channel. I am picky and this place is great! It's not on the beach but I stayed at the Posada Real on the beach just down the street, it wasn't as nice and was double the price. If you want to lay on the beach all day, it's probably not for you but as a base for all the amazingly diverse things to do here in Baja it is an excellent choice and I highly recommend it.
Rooms are very old an need renovation.
It was a great hotel for the price. We had a kitchenette equipped with some cooking utensils. All staff were incredibly helpful and friendly and patient. It was right by a huge Walmart type store surrounded by restaurants and stores. We felt very safe the whole time and it was a great place to get a local feel. The only downside was a leaky faucet or two and one of the Windows didn't lock. The beds were also not the most comfortable, but for the price, still not bad.
It was in a convienient location- easy access for shopping and walking distance to the beach. The building was not very clean and under construction. Very loud during the day - horrible for a weary traveler. The building was not very secure and we worried about our belongs when we stepped out to eat. My advice- spend the extra money on another place. Good place to stay with the bros- not as a couple.
