Location, price, parking, and ambiance. They could get better beds. Was not very comfortable and felt the bed sheets weren't as clean as they are in hotels. The outside lights were also out. I also felt it was a little haunted. haha- maybe I just sike myself out.
Beautiful historic building close to El Prado and Balboa Park. Polite staff. Comfortable bed and updated bath. A bit worn and not the cleanest. No breakfast.
Mr. A's restaurant across the street. Perfect romantic getaway. Unique beyond explanation. Excellent service. Clean rooms. Very comfortable bed. Tub was very tall. Careful climbing in.
This hotel was horrible , the room is amall, the bed is not comfort and make too much noise evrery time you move, we can not sleep when the people talking from outside at midnight. And the foot steps on the second floor early in the morning. We had to take the sleeping pill at that night. The location is OK. No view and no parking. I never stay in the hotel like this before, I am so disappointed when I book online, it said this is Five star hotel. I can say this is a motel than hotel. I wish the owner refund my money back because We are not happy at all and Thia is false advertising on line.
The place was clean and great for an anniversary location was nice and Central for downtown San Diego. Parking was across the street in a locked parking structure but was a little difficult getting in and out but overall was nice. The room air conditioner did not work at all it was very hot the windows had no screens on them and the hot water took 5 minutes to get to the shower the window from the bathroom opened up into the Next Room balcony could not use it they could look right into your room people were walking all night because it was a downtown area not very safe but we still had a good trip. The continental breakfast they offered was very small and not very good they could use some upgrading in this area the hostess sat right in the entrance way where everyone was eating it was a little unorganized. All in all for a hotel in San Diego the price was right it was small not crowded so I feel it was an OK deal but not anything for a long time stay or for kids.
We arrived a little after 8 PM and entered this quaint little place. The staff was very friendly and there is 24/7 coffee and tea available in the lobby. They still had the Christmas decorations up and personally I thought it was great! The room was large. The bed was comfortable, the flat screen TV was nice, they have multiple WiFi networks to choose from that were strong enough to support chromecast, and there were lamps everywhere. The bathroom was large as well, not to mention clean, and they provide Costco sized dove shampoo and conditioner in addition to body wash! The location is perfect to say the least. We love walking everywhere, so we walked to the Gaslamp district, to Balboa park, and more. I'd say it about a 1.5 mile walk at most. The only time we needed a car was coming from the train station and going back there with our luggage. Using Lyft minimized the expense and it cost about $10 with tip for each ride. We really want to return just to try every other room and see the great staff again! The walls are a little thin, but that was to be expected with how old the place probably is. I cannot think of anything else that might be bothersome to others.
A beautiful historic home with a friendly staff.
Well restored and maintained. A/C didn't work the whole time during our stay.
I liked that the room was beautiful and unique. I did not like that one side of the bed was caved in and made it quite difficult to sleep that night. Noisy traffic was also a problem right outside of our window. We couldn't get the air conditioner to work so the room was very stuffy. I guess I'm used to the amenities that hotel chains offer. We will not be staying here again.
The building is beautiful with stained glass windows and hardwood floors. The advertised amenities were not available for our stay. There is no longer any breakfast served here, the room advertised a sauna, but did not have one, and the staff spoke very broken english. The Britt Scripps Inn is really great, but the false advertisements mislead my decision to stay here.
Beautiful property located in the best part of San Diego
Great vintage Victorian B&B! Highly recommended
proximity to local attractions the bed was uncomfortable
Cheap, but you get what you pay for. The only feature I actually enjoyed was the free wireless internet. There was *always* a line at the front desk and whenever you called the front desk they put you on hold for 5-10 minutes. Hire another front desk person!! Then, the rooms were pretty gross. Horrible smell emanating from the fridge/microwave. One bar of soap, and you better hope you don't drop it down the bathroom sink (which doubles as a garbage disposal), because you're going to be waiting a long time at the front desk to get a new one. Little micro-ant things crawling around in the shower. Oh yeah, and no hairdryer. Pretty much, if you're going to stay here, you need to think of it as camping. Bring everything you need with you, and don't expect to have a comfortable bed.
Fountain in the middle was pretty. Easy location to downtown. Ants in the room. Extremely loud planes all day/night. Thin walls. Echoes. Parking was outrageous & expensive.
Hotel staff - premisses were very clean Room was very small. It seemed that the price/comfort value was suboptimal.
The reception staff was very helpful and friendly. Location was good for a walker like me. The bed was bouncy and creaky.
convenient to downtown san diego, room has modern furnishings but extremely small room and bed only ok comfort wise, nice courtyard, no valet or parking fee but you only have street parking available, easy to find convenient to freeways too close to street , planes from sd airport fly right over the hotel, no pool nor jacuzzi, only street parking, tiny rooms but clean and renovated recently
The breakfast was good and the bed was comfortable. The staff is also very accommodating and it is close to Gaslamp. The rooms are pretty small, but the pricing wasn't bad. The towels had black hairs on them so that was gross and made me question the cleanliness.
The hotel had a good location, only few blocks from the city centre. Breakfast was good too. Friendly staff.
Casual The neighborhood was a bit seedy.
I'm from San Diego so I knew somewhat what to expect. There is no hotel parking so street parking only and I needed noise to fall asleep so the planes flying overhead was perfect for me. The neighborhood is sketchy but really close to downtown and awesome Mexican food place around corner. Hated the limited street parking and the construction going on at the hotel. Also hated the small ants in my room probably brought in by the rain.
The desk person the night I checked in was helpful and told me he would hold my room for my late arrival. I do not like the policy of having to cancel 3 days prior to my date of arrival. I was in San Diego because of my son's surgery. Because he was discharged late in the evening we could have possibly gone to his apartment, but stayed at the hotel because it was too late to cancel.
Bed was comforable and was able to get a decent rate Only has queen sized beds, AC leaked all over the floor, constant airplane traffic, no parking (meter parking on street
Quiet Small beds
Very cheap hotel, and it was very clean. No bugs or nasty linens. Staff is very polite and friendly. Accommodated us whenever we asked for bottles of water or more towels. Love this hotel, will book again. Great location, walking distance to downtown and there is a trolley stop nearby The WiFi was a little wonky but it wasn't bad overall. It dropped out a couple times but it's a small thing.
