Walking distance to downtown (riverwalk/Alamo) but its a sketchy area if you are alone. Many homeless and cat callers around. Rooms were modern and looked just like the pictures. Staff was friendly and helpful Sheets were dirty, asked for new ones and we're still dirty. Add on extra charges after initial booking fee, must pay for parking, ADA accessible restroom was constantly wet. Showers must run for ten minutes before water heats up, refrigerator didn't work, roach came out of restroom drain.
Location The bed linen was cover in stains, the walls had stains and what looked like mildew. The shower was disgusting plus the water came out with such force it hurt. The floors were filthy so don't walk around barefoot. Hotel said they underwent an upgrade, but definitely doesn't look like it. Free breakfast is a joke. Will NEVER stay at this hotel again.
Staff was rude. Door was missing the bottom liner so you could hear everyone that walked by.
Overall nice clean hotel for the price That we had to pay $15 daily for parking
Everything was good, and it was a surprise. I went in thinking it was a real dive, based on the reviews I read after booking my room. I was there for 3 nights and I cant complain about a single thing, rooms were clean, beds were comfortable, staff were really friendly, and it looks to be quite a new motel, or has been recently renovated. I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone! Cant say anything bad, it is a 2 star hotel that is more like a 3 star. The rates were not cheap, but seeing as there was a convention in town, it was a whole lot cheaper than nearby hotels. If I had to take a guess, some bad reviewers either got some real bad staff attitude or they expected 4 star service.
Great location for the money. Very dirty floors. Sheets had to be changed they were filthy. Not a good experience. Front staff w were nice but housekeeping was a joke...
Was convenient to Riverwalk and Alamo. Walking Distance. The door was hard to open and close because of the deadbolt. Kept getting stuck. The sink faucet was about to fall off and the hot water barely came out. The sink was free standing and not any room to put anything around it. The shower head was so strong you could hardly stand under it. We were only able to get very few channels on the tv. On the vending machines you could only use a credit or debit card. I thought was inconvenient. We did report this all to the front desk as we left and they said these issues would be fixed. I hope so because it could be a very nice, convenient place to stay.
The coffee was good & it Was convenient to Riverwalk and Alamo. Walking Distance The door was hard to open and close because of the deadbolt. Kept getting stuck. Paper thin walls, you have to pay for parking and the safe in your room also Some of the staff was rude.
Walking distance to alamadome for events. sorry breakfast. slow maintenance. we had a slow drain in the tub and reported it everyday and it still was not fixed when we left.
Nothing to like here. The internet service in my 5th floor room was poor. Then the crickets moved in. I killed three of them and counted 5 more down the hall from me. While I was at the font desk talking about the lack of Wifi, two very angry women guests came down to check out because of all the bugs. The interior is worn and does not present as clean. There was a puddle of water in the middle of the floor. They offered me a room on the second floor where the Wifi was better but even to my male nose, this room smelled stale. I decided I'd seen enough and many thanks to Kayak for getting me out of this mess and into the Best Western Sunrise Suites (1 block away). Same price range and a high quality hotel. BEWARE THE RED ROACH INN!
Perfect for a night in downtown SA.
Everything is good If you are going to advertise free breakfast then do it
I requested a fan when I booked and after I got to my room. Never received one. The towels were horrible, the shower didn't work properly and there was no plkace to put the soap....strange. The sheets didnt fit the bed either. I've stayed at better hotels in the uk & Ireland then this one. Not worth the money!!
staff was not polite, not pleasant white trying to get direction to hotel, light bulb out , alarm clock not working and there was a foul swell in hallway
The breakfast was good There were a few days that our room wasn't cleaned and we had to go to the office and ask for towels.
Great customer service and awesome housekeeping! Breakfast could have been a little better.
Three of four lamps didnt work, one was even in pieces leaning against the wall. The phone in the room did not work either. Dead bugs on the floor, I understand its Texas but this was ridiculous. Restaurant is closed and so is the bar even though it is advertised online as being there. So much wrong here to even list.
Staff is prompt and helpful. I was able to change my reservation upon my arrival to include a second queen bed. It was pretty dirty behind the beds. There was an issue with the air conditioner initially, but it kicked in and wound up working fine. A couple of the staff members seemed pretty unfriendly. The breakfast is extremely lackluster.
The staff was friendly. The place seemed mostly clean. The empty frames of "art" in the elevator. The bed was lumpy, the pillows flat and only three to share with a couple. The armoire was missing a door, the tissue holder broke when we tried to use it. The breakfast was terrible. The room was tiny and the small stuff mattress over the AC unit was neither comfortable or practical.
Staff nice. I have bites on my body from sheets. Smoke alarm wires hanging. Google the hotel and even the pictures shown is one of an unmade bed Staff friendly
Was clean and nice rooms and was just cheap
Loved the price. Room was bigger than we expected. No bugs, no stains, everything was pretty clean, although a bit old. First room smelled horrible, but Janet at the front desk immediately moved us to a much better room. Other guests were pretty decent folks. Budget hotel, but no riff-raff here! Great breakfast set up every morning. Room had fridge, microwave, cabinets, and small kitchen sink - all were very clean. TV and cable worked. In-room wifi as well. It's in a more industrial part of town, with nothing within walking distance. The pool was ridiculously small (not that I'm a pool person, but most of the other guests I came across did comment on it, so I assume a lot of folks want to know). Decor wasn't very modern, and room colors were pretty drab. Could spruce the place up with some bright colors a bit.
My boyfriend & I went there for a romantic getaway. I decided to get out of my comfort zone(I only stay at Marriot hotels when traveling) & try something new. I love the way the hotel is setup & I really loved the design of our room/suite. The location is really close to the AT&T Center. Overall I would say, you get exactly what you paid for. We had a feeling that our bed linen was not clean due to the fact that there was stains on the sheet & we also had to wipe the sheet before getting in bed (This could be just something in my mind since I only stay at the Marriot).
My husband and I went to visit family in San Antonio. It was small, quiet, and close to everything we wanted to visit while we were there. They have a fitness center and a pool that hardly anyone uses, which was a great getaway for my husband and I to relax after a long day. The staff was nice and courteous and did not hesitate to help.
I liked that the staff was so nice and understanding! && That they compensated for our room having so many issues. Our sheets were stained, not enough towels, and it stormed and water leaked into our room through a light fixture and straight down into our A/C unit and next to an outlet!
The rooms are functional, however not very large. Out of the three rooms we had, we had one bedbug and one room that smelled smokey a little. Other than that it is a decent place to stay if you are looking for a bed. We were heading to the military base for a ceremony and it was very convenient for us to get there. Only about a five minute drive.
Clean and comfortable. Not a great breakfast or location. It is a budget hotel, but great for the price!
Ww found a bug in the room.

I was there for Fort Sam Houston's AIT graduation and the location of the hotel is within 2 miles of the visitors center. The room was very clean and the front desk staff was extremely helpful and pleasant when I had questions about directions.
Great location. The staff is friendly .. The room was okay for it's price The bathroom smelled like urine , the pillows and bed were not comfortable , the cover sheet were smelly too

Clean room with couch, microwave, iron w. iron board. Great location. Freezer should be de-iced for the refrigerator get cooler.
It's close to the downtown area. The river walk and the city parks are all close. The room was very nice and the people working there were very friendly. Not really. I would definitely stay there again.
Room space and two beds Noise from train and highway. Smells bad in the restroom

Close to the Alamo and Riverwalk Breakfast sucked and the towels were cheap
It had easy access Not the best part of town, clock didn't work. Pillows looks like they had been used. guess you get what you pay for.
The rooms were clean and tidy The rooms were not soundproofed and there is no mention of the trains that pass close by throughout the night alongside it being on a very noisy street. I would have thought that families with children would be placed at the back of the building and not on the main road.
The location was convenient for downtown and the riverwalk. I disliked EVERYTHING else!!! I don't understand why anyone would give this hotel a good review. First off, there was a lot of construction going on right in front of the hotel, which I know is not their fault, but still very inconvenient. The facade of it was horrible (must've been enhanced with Photoshop for the web). The employee at the front desk didn't quite know what she was doing and took forever to check us in. The room was horrible. Very outdated and could have been a lot cleaner. In fact, I had to take a towel back to the front desk because it had stains on it. Also, I found hair that did not belong to me or my family members in a couple of different places. The bottom line is...DON'T STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!! I suggest somewhere near the airport or medical center. It will be convenient enough and won't cost as much as staying downtown or on the riverwalk.
First, City View overbooked. This was not communicated to Kayak, so after traveling when I arrived at 3AM, a very disgruntled employee stormed out of the back and told me through the locked door to leave, they have nothing for me. After statng that I have a reservation, and showing him the confirmation, he told me that "Kayak" overbooked them and to leave or he would call the police. You read that correctly. I asked for his name, which he refused to give to me. After asking again to look at my confirmation, I decided at this point I did not want to give them my money after this experience. We left and were forced to travel 2 hours home after a very long day and night already spent traveling. I called City View moments after leaving to again try and get the employees name, but was hung up on. I will say Kayak handled this situation beautifully, even going as far as to cal me to make sure we were accommodated. This was not a miss on Kayak's part, it was City View first for not notifying Kayak or myself of the overbooked rooms, and second, for handling the manner upon my arrival so terribly.
Hotel is super clean (spotless!) and modern, with free unlimited Wifi and friendly and helpful staff. There are complimentary maps of the downtown area at the front desk. Our King room was well-appointed (mini fridge, ironing board, air conditioner, microwave, coffee maker - which I didn't use) and my husband wanted me to mention that it always smelled good. Bed was comfortable as well. Much more budget friendly than the hotels right in the heart of the Riverwalk. About less than a mile walk to the central downtown area, which can be a bit more daunting when the weather spikes or drops (it was 32 one morning when we ventured out for breakfast). Easy access to the Alamodome and amtrak station, though. Since it's close to the Amtrak station you can hear the train blow its horn, but it was only in the morning (a reasonable time - nothing horrible) and we ended up using it as a secondary alarm clock. No bar or restaurant onsite but we didn't need any of that and tons of places in San Antonio deliver so the lack of room service wasn't off-putting. Would definitely stay here again!
I like that I could cancelled my reservation, the manager there accept to cancel with no charge. The place was scary, dark, and the rooms are the worst, I had ask for a non smoking and it stinks, the beds look like someone was sitting down on them, and the restrooms was the scariest thing ever, there was a a huge black circle of I don't know what on the tub, gross. When I got there, I ask to see the room and can't believe that she gave me that room to see, the worst, so I cancelled it.
Shower head was pretty weak.
the room stank of cigarette smoke, the bathroom door was kicked , in general the whole room was frightening
Nothing Stay away
It was very quiet The bathroom, sink and initial towels....the sink didn't drain properly, the towels had hair and spots on them. The bathroom was extremely small
Good value for the money. Staff was helpful and room was clean.
I liked nothing! It was dirty! The room was not clean, the carpet had food from previous guests and the sheets had hairs!!! I will not stay at Red Roof again. It was not a pleasant stay.
I like the softness of the beds The manager
I liked how close and easy it was to get to Downtown San Antonio, Sea World, Malls, food, etc. I liked how we couldn't hear people next to us or above us. Did not hear the highway/ interstate that it was right off of either. I did not like the fact that when you put out the "Do Not Disturb" sign, the room service lady's do not come back to clean your room after you've taken it down and left for the entire day.
I was trying to save money and got what I paid for. The staff was nice enough and the room was adequate. Although, the room had no toilet paper and when I called the front desk, the girl told, not asked, me to come get it from her. Hotel is being renovated too so lots of workers and their vehicles.
It was a great hotel very comfortable, excelleant price, and good breakfast.....
The privacy The location of ice machines
What I like about my stay at the TRed Roof Inn San Antonio is that is was centrally located to everything.
It was conveniently located to everything we needed to go to and the rates were the lowest for a hotel of that quality. The bathroom was not as clean as it should have been and the lobby is too small for serving continental breakfast. Too few tables for the number of guests present.
Nothing The room has rats, roaches, blood stained sheets... Dirty dirty dirty!
There was one cleaning lady that was very nice and respectful she was a thin african american and she went out of her way when we asked her for an extra pillow and toilet tissue . We were there for 5 days and this hotel is farf rom down town San Antonio ,when we asked the front desk clerk if there was any other type of transportation besides taxi service she said no being that there is a bus stop about a block away well we had to walk to most places on the first day because taxi charged 20.00 each way. Well as we walked we found out that there was a bus service where we could go anywhere in SA for 1.10 per person so if your ever in SA and need transportation take the VIA bus its cheap and gets you there fast .Then on the last day i needed to print my itinarary and when i asked for 4 sheets of paper the male clerk said I needed to pay fo 4.00 for 4 sheets .i did not like that being that we stayed there .
The hotel was close to the highway. Cleanliness of the room. The bathroom was so grungy that I left without showering. The staff was not particularly friendly.
My family booked a room here based on the reviews and price. The front desk offered a price of about $50 more than what I paid, even after telling them the price I could get online. I told them I'll book it online since the price was better. My wife personally wouldn't use the covers/blankets cause she felt the room was dirty. The room was cleaned daily and we did notice this. It's wasn't too far from the sights we wanted to see and places we wanted to visit, but it was a little off and tucked away. The breakfast was decent. I would highly recommend searching elsewhere for the price. The Microtel next door to it looks a little better.
I cannot say enough kind things about the helpful and friendly staff at the travellodge. Our room was ready, clean and spacious. The continental breakfast was fresh and filling. I might add that they had a free gourmet coffee machine avaliable 24 hrs in the lobby that was the best coffee in all of San Antonio. I really appreciated the staff going the extra mile and printing out our boarding passes for the following day. That was very helpful and they didn't have to do it. I would not think twice about staying there again or recommending it to someone else. They made you feel like family. It was not downtown where most of our business was. But they can't do anything about that. I would still stay there anytime I chose to visit San Antonio again.
Access, price Expected better building maintenance
I liked the rate I got through booking.com and I really liked the size of the rooms! It was nice to not feel cramped in a tiny room. Lots of space!
They were prompt at getting what u needed Toilet was broken tub drain was slow so water wouldn't go down the drain fast enough
Staff was so helpful and kind, but the hotel was awful, I expected a 3 stars hotel, and it is just a 2 star motel (hotel de paso). The room wasnt clean as it should be, and room was so dark, I really expected something better. I will not return to hotel
The hotel is dated. We stayed in the King suite. One side was cold (side near a/c) and the other side was warm. The room was exceptionally clean and the staff members were mostly helpful. However when I called the front desk on one occasion to ask about the wireless signal loss, I was abruptly cut off and dismissed. The location of the hotel is not desirable. The area is safe, however there are no good restaurants or stores nearby. The hotel is dated. The pool is ridiculously small. The wifi did not work consistently.
The location is central located perfect to get to everything. The microwave in the room didnt work. We didnt have an iron or a coffee pot. Our room key continually didn't work, being that we were there only to sleep.it was tolerable. While we were eating breakfast they came and removed the items at exactly 9:30 am because time was up even though we were still there and the waffle iron had just heated up. Tub did not drain when you took a shower.
The location, price, size and cleanliness of room, very nice, professional and helpful staff. I truly enjoy my stay at Travelodge Fort Sam/AT & T Center.
We traveled with 4 kids so having 2 rooms for the price of one was really what led me there and what kept me sane for the 6 nights we were there. The free breakfast was not good. The cereal listed on the dispensor was not what was in there. Very small selection and quality of danishes. We ended up going out to eat for breakfast, but I wasn't mad because the price I paid for the room was such a steal.
The drive from the fort to this hotel is very easy even for an out of towner The room's air was not turned on so when first coming into the room it was VERY hot inside and it did not cool down until the next morning when we were leaving if you are looking for a place to just lay down and sleep and don't necessarily care about the bells and whistles than this hotel is a good one
Its really good for the price, the best option for sure for those looking for a cheap getaway. The breakfast was really poor, just bread and cofee....
For the location ~1 mile from the River Walk and Alamodome, it was a great price. Nothing fancy, but the rooms were clean, and the bed was very comfortable. It doesn't have special amenities, but for a quick visit, it was a great spot.
I liked the location of the hotel, it was within walking distance of everything I needed and had bus stops right outside. The bus comes by every 15 min. My stay was very comfortable, no amenities though. The hotel is a non-smoking hotel but my room smelled strongly of smoke, especially inside the bathroom.
the online information read they offered continental breakfast but at the time of our stay the staff at the check in office said it was discontinued until further notice. We were looking forward to the continental breakfast to save time and money.
It was a bed and close for me to access the San Antonio Fairgrounds. The bed was solid rock, and there was no fridge/microwave in the room. The front desk staff did not speak clear english, and also it is rude to change from english to your native tongue while dealing with a customer. This is America, the language is english!
My room was clean and fresh towels everyday The bed was not Queen size more on the twin/full size.
Shuttle service to the River Walk was one of thr reasons that sold me on making the reservation and it worked out very well. The Manager was very pleasant and helpful. The area.
The kindness of the staff, the shuttle to the city centre: very practical,e ven if you have your own car. light breakfast, but just enough...except on saturday: there is no breakfast on saturday, and we did not see any information about it.
The big screen tv All of it. If they have it at a 3 star then motel 6 is a 5 star. I hated to have to stay there but since it was already 5pm the day before 4th of july everything else was already booked in the san antonio area. I have stayed in bad areas and hotels but that was when I was younger and didnt have kids. The sounds of gun shots at 11:30-midnight is why I feel like the location was not so good
Peaceful and quiet!! The staff was very friendly. They went above and beyond to insure you were satisfied with your stay. Pointed out things to do and how to get there. We will be staying again!!
I liked staying here because it was clean and it was quiet and very simple Just what I was looking for. Not the most upscale place but no interuptions and very close to everywhere we wanted to go. It said we were supposed to get free breakfast but I had no idea where to go to get it. And I never seen any signs about the shuttle service they offered.
Attened work related conventtion. Limited selection for breakast.
Helpful friendly staff, free shuttle into city. Nice quiet area.
The owner/manager was very helpful and friendly. He provided a personal shuttle to the event I was in town for. He also allowed a little longer check-out time knowing that my event would not be over prior to his normal time. Very nice man. Also, the water pressure was fantastic so after my race the shower felt so good!! The beds were a little hard, but I was so tired, I didnt mind terribly.
The bed was very comfortable. AC was noisy and temperture control was by on until cold and off until hot.
The room had a modern look to it. The water pressure in the tub and the sink was bad. The tub got full of water too quickly, and the water in the sink squirted out.
Closeness to military base I had 2 rooms. One cleaned but no clean towels. Other room not cleaned at all
The location was close to the AT&T center. The room had a strong smoke odor, there was a bug near the bed. Overall the room wasn't very clean.
Good enough for the price.
The bed was too hard
The room Location , train was close by
Hotel has a decent location I didnt like anything about this hotel
thin walls, you can hear everything from the room next door to the traffic o the highway. i don't even think the room ever went up to temp poor insulation, noisy, took the attendant longer to acknowledge me than it did to book the room.
This guest did not leave comments about this hotel.
The staff was friendly, that was the only good thing about this motel. The shower handles were not clean, you could tell they have not been clean for a long time. There was roaches. It was disgusting. Roach crap on the microwave, roaches in the microwave. It was NASTY!!! I would never stay here again. I DONT NOT RECOMMEND!!!
Good location They didn't do our beds
The first room the bed sheets were stained. I was moved room and that bed had even bigger stains on the sheet even some cigaret burn, even though it was a non smoking room.. It was a really bad experience staying here.
I stayed here for the San Antonio Rock n Roll marathon. It was less than a mile from the start/finish line near the Alamodome, so I didn't have to worry about parking, just walked to/from the race. All I needed was a clean, affordable place to sleep and shower, so it was great for that. Not super fancy, but then it didn't need to be. The lady at the front desk was okay with letting me check out a few hours late, so that I could sleep a little after the race. The main annoyance was the room was a little dimly lit, so I ended up watching HBO instead of reading my book. A table lamp next to the bed would fix that. Also a group of people had a very loud conversation in the parking lot around 3 in the morning and interrupted my sleep, but that's not really the motel's fault.
Room was very clean...beds were comfortable!!! They don't serve breakfast anymore
I did like the fact that it had 2 beds and a microwave to heat my baby's food. People up front was nice staff. But fair for the price. Like 5 min from the AT&T Center. Not clean at all.......I was scared to lay my kids in bed. Needs so much detail cleaning . The elevator would run and the doors would be barely closing. Also the elevator was only one and on the other side of the hotel. I was scared it would leave us stuck. Very old elevator needs so much maintenance. The hotel was very hot and our room AC made a loud noise. I had to buy a spray so it could smell fresh. Bathroom was too small only 1 person fits and with kids it's not a good thing and once again very dirty. One lamp did not work and the main light was at the entrance of the door. The small table with lamp stopped working while I was in the middle of doing my make up. But the next day they fixed it. I tried calling front desk a couple time I was putt on hold they forgot about me. pool was good can't complain. I did not like the location of the hotel very ghetto neighborhood. Didn't like when we where in the pool and some guy sat down and drank a beer while looking at us and with a smirk o n his face!! Very disturbing!!!!!! Also the fact that there where so many glass beer cans every where in the grass in the outside side door. lets just say not kid friendly place.
The only good thing is the location. things that happened: THERE IS NO INTERNET the manager told us there was no wifi and gave me a cable to get wired internet which DID NOT WORK. The TV was old and made an annoying sound. Breakfast was extremely poor juice and coffee were very bad.
Nothing it was a nightmare roaches in the room. Graffiti on walls
Everything was in order and it was clean and price was good You couldn't get ahold of the front desk the phone wasn't working and I don't think they had a blow dryer
nothing everything, it was shabby and run over
It was cheap. The location was pretty sketchy but I expected it to be.
From the roach to the smell...I don't know which was worst. My wife and daughter hold me personally responsible for placing them in such a filthy environment. Last minute 'Labor Day' selection...this was in support of our Sea World trip. Everything! Would not stay there if my life depended on it! I'll be dead - give me flowers while I'm alive!
LocationLocation The room had an odor
No one bothered me and it had great things close by they rated this hotel too harshly it also had a great pool. Nothing bothered me here
It was near food and not that far from downtown. There were roaches. The staff were rude. They were doing construction or something all day and even a little after dark.
The location and the room were great for the price. There was not much to brag about the pool was small, the Wi-Fi sucked and I was close to the router in the main lobby. Overall you get what you pay for. Would not stay here again with shitty Wi-Fi. The front desk worker sucked. He was rude and unknowledgeable about how to activate room keys. I had to have my room changed 3 times because he could not figure out how to properly activate my room key.
While I found our room to be just, ok, the folks that ran the place were very nice. I was a little disappointed in the fact that the amenities listed were a pool that was not operational the water was green and very nasty. It was also listed as having breakfast. This consisted of a small stale muffin. We travel quite a bit. I choose our rooms mostly by the amenities listed. My thought is, you should update your webpages frequently if things change in your amenities column. Don't offer 'breakfast' then only serve a small stale muffin. I expected to feed my kids at least a bowl of cereal. I would have chosen the room a little farther away from the activity which brought us to spend the night here.
The picture must be years old. This hotel is not even remotely new. The beds are delapidated. There was hair in the towels, on the floor and in the sink and toilet. There was mold hanging off of the tub. There was something hanging from the bathroom ceiling and food on the walls as well as tobacco stains and handprints. It seemed as if someone had lived in this room. If I hadn't been so exhausted from Sea World, I would have left. DO NOT STAY HERE!
