The room and the public areas were very clean and the hotel is in a good position on the beach and a very short walk from town. Too expensive for the standard offered. We paid 130 Euro per night for a double room with limited TV channels and a very noisy airconditioner which luckily we didn't need. The TV in the sports bar wasn't working. The hotel can get noisy at night when people come in late. The breakfasts are OK but could be better considering the price and the queue at the coffee machine is irritating.
It was a very relaxing and pleasant environment and the location by the beach was perfect. Not enough parasols by the swimming pool meaning that guests would fight over them.
The vicinity to the beach and nice pool. Furniture in the kitchen. The hotel is dirty and old. The tables in breakfast room were dirty as well, we found a small "animal" in the bread while eating...Moreover there were mushrooms on the wall in the sleeping room, thus it stank badly and we couldn't sleep in this room at all. I never saw mushrooms on the wall in four star hotel! The sofa in the saloon was dirty as well. The furniter in the rooms is really old, not fresh so the atmosphere in the room is not nice. I assume we paid too much for such bad conditions. The hotel is really old and I don't understand why four stars...There was no hairdrayer in the bathroom as well. The pool was always full of small children. I don't recommend this hotel to young couples without children.
Excellent internet facility with a separate room and two pc available free of charge. Shuttle bus to commercial core (village center) several times a day. Direct access to beach. Shuttle bus can be easily extended to airport with only additional two minutes' driving. Hot water is only sufficient for one person to take a hot bath (limited or controlled?).
I enjoyed the very weel keeped gardens, and also the the interior desing. The location is also spectacular.
PLeasant staff The food, except breakfast. The quality of hotel reswtaurants is poor. The dishes ar enot tasty.
The beach is fabulous, so easy access is a real plus point. The layout of the pool area also good. It is so quiet and peaceful, and ideal for a young child, our boy of 2 clearly loved being there The children's play area did not cater for a 2 year old, I suspect that minimum age would be about 5 for the area.
Relaxing by the pool.
hotel facilities, surroundings, the fact that the hotel staff upgraded our room to superior (for honeymoon). a little bit expensive and I would not classify it as a 5 stars hotel. It's rather a 4+ stars hotel.
For the moment Pestana Porto Santo is the best hotel on the Porto Santo island. It has a large space with gardens, pools, sport activities (beach volley, beach soccer, tennis, jogging, and if you like golf they will take you to the golf course) and for kids. Although it's not on the beach (very smart authorities in Porto Santo to protect the beach, nothing is allowed to be build on the beach), it is next to it, the sand comes to their big yard and they have direct access and facilities to the beach. The beach is impressive, the hotel is clean, they have many facilities. We felt very secure on this island, they say they do not have criminality. To visit the island you can rent an ATV, moto, take a taxi or book a tour. The taxi is quite cheap More a 4 stars hotel than 5 stars. Even with all those facilities, for the price you pay and for the 5 stars hotel you would expect some luxury and great services. In the room the main lamp didn't work and no plastic bags in the bathroom, some old furniture. Small TV. Poor trained staff, especially the waiters, quite unqualified and goofers. The staff doesn't speak english well (excepting the reception where they speak very good english and they are professionals). The hotel surroundings are for the moment construction sites. Not a real problem, more an esthetic issue that will change soon. High food/drinks prices. 10 euros/sunbed on the beach. Waiters and beach guys have an "I care more about my tip" attitude. Poor evening entertainment.
We got a free upgrade to a suite (booked a standard room) due to overbooking. It is seemingly the best hotel in Porto Santo, mostly Portuguese families and even though the hotel is big, the apartment style doesn't make you feel there is mass tourism. Overall we were very happy with our stay there No free internet.
Very good facilities. 2 swimming pools (salt and sweet water), direct access to the beach. Big rooms, you can see the room from the bathroom. Excellent breakfast. During the cleaning of the rooms there were very bags in the corridors for all day, courtesy bus to city not working. Prices for dinning (buffet) very expensive 30€/person.
The facilities are excellent, the staff are very helpful, a true 5 stars.
Very polite and helpful staff (we felt welcome from the first minute on). The design of the villas fits well into the landscape, the pool area is nicely designed and the greening diversified. The three restaurants provide all menus of excellent quality and there are regularly organised special dinner events in the pool area. The beach is just unbelievable beautiful, the hotel installations on the beach are built with respect to nature and you never get the impression to have a rather big hotel behind the sand dunes. In general you have the impression that the hotel management cares a lot of keeping a high standard. After our stay we wish a lot that the hotel management can influence positively the development on this island paradies. We got a room in the pool area and were very happy with this location. But I expect a less good atmosphere if your room is on the backside of the hotel direction road (isolated, bad view, noise, ...).
It was a most relaxing holiday in a very peaceful hotel close to the sandy beach. A wonderful find.
I found the hotel very relaxing and peaceful with a great location right beside the beach. Porto Santo Hotel& Spa is a great place to get away from the hectic pace of morden life and recharge one's batteries. One small complaint was the lack of choice of good beer at the bar. I am a big fan of Superbock beer and I was disappointed it was not served.
Understated refinement, always excellent, attentive and personal service, fabulous bar/restaurant in front of the beach.
Proximity to the beach was superb! Nice, quiet location. Definitely a perfect retreat for a calm and relaxing getaway. The air conditioning didn't work all that well.
the ass. manager was very nice, professional and helpful. room too small.
hotel staff was very nice, good location breakfast not very nice, problems with coffe machine, very small rooms and bathrooms, tv wasn't working properly, rooms were looking much worse then on the website
Not far from the center and from the seaside. One of the cheapest solutions in Porto Santo. Not very clean and tidy. The rooms are not very comfortable. For sure not the best solution in Porto Santo.Low quality but not low price.
The proximity to the center of the city and the possibility to leave your luggage while waiting for the boat or plane back In general it needs renovation
Location is excellent, a few minutes from the beach and right in the center. Too much expensive for what we get. Room as very simple, view to the wall, breakfast very very average. It would be a good hotel for 50 euros a night, not for the 100 we have paid.
