Parking is and was an issue. They have a tiny garage. They don't have an elevator from the parking garage. If you travel light no worries. However we didn't and it was terrible lugging our luggage up two flights of stairs.
This location is perfect and the staff was super friendly. The beds were comfy and the room felt clean. I just slept terribly here. Blue light fills the room from the hallway at night, it would be great if they could invest in some black out curtains. Heater was so LOUD, neighboring hotel guests were loud, and there really isn't a "chill side" . This is a great hotel for partiers.
The location is great. You can walk downtown or to Southeast Portland in just 15 minutes but there are also a lot of good places to eat and drink within a few blocks. And the staff are very nice -- one person at the desk gave us some good suggestions on things to do around town. The bar in the complex is fairly noisy at night, even on weeknights. The rooms don't ventilate well so you'll see many people leaving their doors open. Overall fairly "bare bones" rooms but totally livable if you can get a good deal.
The staff was extremely helpful and the location was walking distance to great food and bars. No gym and air conditioner was all or nothing.
a bit noisy
The Doug Fir Restaurant and Front Desk was awesome Cigarette smoke coming into our bedroom, thin walls, rooms enhance outdoor noise
Great location, staff excellent.Wonderful decor.Would definitely stay there again. Load staff although the rude was quiet after 230 am which staff maintained.
Close to everything and everyone I needed to see. The room was clean and the staff was very friendly. My room was overlooking the restaurant/bar. I couldn't sleep during any one of the four nights I was at the hotel. It was extremely loud with people partying under my room until 4am in the morning. I get it - the hotel and the restaurant are hip and trendy but if I didn't need to sleep, I would have not booked a hotel at all. If I knew that this was the set up of the hotel, I would have chosen another hotel.
The bed, pillows, and bedding were amazing. The chalkboard doors were a cute touch. The room was super clean. Location is great with lots to eat and do in walking distance. Room size was smaller than expected. There was also a huge noise factor that we weren't aware of based on the website or prior to booking. While the staff alerted us to this at check in, it would have been nice to know before so we could plan accordingly. No fridge or coffee maker. And most of the electric outlets in the room didn't work.
Funky boutique hotel near the river. Rooms are small but the property is unique and I'm glad we stayed here versus a generic hotel room. Small rooms
I arrived pretty early and while they didn't have a room available at that moment, they got me in as soon as they could. The location is perfect. Lots of great places within a few blocks. The room is on the small side but they do give that info online. I was by myself on a work trip so it was fine.
We had a very exhausting flight with a morning arrival and the staff allowed us to check in early which was a huge blessing. The location was great and the hotel itself was beautifully redone since the renovation. The room was small but you can't expect too much since it was formerly a motel of some sort. There was a condom on the night stand (unused and clearly placed there by the staff). Our first reaction was "that is very strange" and then "what if we had children with us?" We didn't care for that. The next door restaurant was partying pretty loud after 10pm and we simply turned on the super old air conditioning unit which was very loud but soothing and went straight to sleep.
The bathroom and vintage setting was very nice and comforting. The ability to also grab your own extra toiletries was a nice bonus.
This place is amazing -- a renovated old mansion with beautiful art deco details throughout, and thoughtful accommodations -- fast internet, updated bathrooms, a kitchen available for use and stocked with a delicious and varied continental breakfast! It is an older building -- so the plumbing seemed a little finicky, the doors were thin and the building loud. I don't know why the windows don't have screens, but we had trouble with our climate control and had to leave them open, so that was a little inconvenient. Basically zero on site staff (it felt like) which was a little ghostly to come in and leave without interacting with anyone but the stray other guest.
There wasn't anything to like about this place. To start, when I arrived, they panicked because they didn't have my room. All they could do is put me in a smoking room. I took it because I needed a place to stay. And as far as I can tell I still paid the extra that I reserved through Kayak for a non smoking room. The room smelled like smoke, and the lady at the front desk offered to spray it for me. Really? The bed and pillows had burn holes in them, which I had to disclose so I could get my $50 deposit back. This place is a joke, do not stay here!
The staff was very friendly and helpful, with answers to all of our questions. Having the in-room fridge was incredibly useful. Water pressure was decent, and sufficiently hot as needed. Over all, we were quite satisfied. This is more of a comment towards Portland in general, but the cigarette smoke was pretty heavy around there. We were in a no-smoking room, but we could still smell it with all the doors and windows closed, when people outside would light up. Similarly, my mother was staying in a no-smoking room a few doors down from us, and her room was permeated with the smell.
Somewhere to sleep? Crackheads rapping upon our chamber door. A night all alone i hear a rumble, so alone, er tho rumbles a crackhead so noir. Through some peephole a menace beyonde below, begging for smoke, and no more, we wished him a well travel, but sent him off with black a mild a plenty, such a uncouthed vagrant he beggdd for scrapped, yest be cast him about a yappin. Quote the crackhead "You-aint-got no mo?'". "'Tis my last square." I uttered. Though i may have softly spoken, desipite the reefer i'd been smoking., i said, "no more" "In my robe of complementary so galore I uttered begone harlot so wishing to be galore. Alas, I stayed in hotel of the trees, though noisiness never let me get a nut. Like an acorn, their rating fell, like a bat out of hell. A wonderful trip still happrnened nut unto ye, old chestnut tree.
The bed was very comfortable and made every day of our stay. It is very easy to get into downtown because it is right next to the main highways.
I liked how conveniently located it is. It's a short drive to downtown. The fact that wifi is extra is a reason for me to reconsider staying here again.
nothing to like here The staff was unfriendly, the staff were not polite. The room when we got to it had dirty yellow sheet and was stinking. When we asked the staff to do something about it, they said they were understaffed and all the other rooms were taken so could not do anything about it.
This place is overpriced. Unless your main objective while visiting Portland is to visit the strip club next door or go bowling at the place across the street I would not stay here. There are hardly any amenities available even if requested. The worst part? There were bugs in the bed.
location was ideal for Portland. Close to downtown, could take the bus and be there in10 min. Close to Safeway and convenience stores. required payment for wi-fi old CRT type TV took up too much space on small desk picture was not very good. noisy A/C Staff was helpful and was able to save a few bucks by correcting the occupants to 1 adult and 1 child (kayak had defaulted to 4 adults) No way you can fit 4 adults in that small room
Close to bus stop A fridge and expensive wifi
Cheap and good location No refrigerator, no laundry, extremely cramped. Have stayed at other Motel 6's that had much better amenities and more space.
The hotel seemed slightly oversold, but I think it was a good value. The atmosphere was of a motel, but it was a good motel. The room was excellent. Neighborhood not great, but ok. I think they should not have bothered with the continental breakfast. They did not replenish the coffee in my room. That wouldn't matter, except that I kept expecting them to. The staff was fine, other than this minor issue, which they probably would have corrected if I had raised it with them.
Old and a little worn but clean and cheap. Large rooms. Felt kind of run down, cheap mattresses and linens, old furniture.
Great value, A very friendly and helpful staff. room was larger than expected. A very light breakfast, muffins / coffee / juice, but it was free.
It is very close to the freeway, restaurants and banking. First room wasn't ready when I got there, second room that was supposed to be ready - the beds were not made. The third room was okay and on a level that was convienent for me. TV needed a chennel that shows stocks, metals markets.
Location Cigarette burns in the comforter, As well as on the bathtub and toilet in non smoking roomGiant hole in bathroom door covered by wood colored paperNO PRIVACY -they insist on waking u up to clean the room regardless of do not disturb signRude staff
NOTHING! It was a horrible experience... The room I rented in June was filled with syringes! So they gave us another room. AGAIN, syringes, and both room's had syringes under the matresses! It was clear that it's a place frequented by drug user's. It took us 3 hr's. to find a safe place to stay.
Hotel staff are great Cleanliness, location and smell of the room was very bad. Also old furniture
Free parking, clean sheets. It was not the Econo Lodge I planned to book. I didn't know that I was booking the one in East Portland. I meant to book the downtown location.
Very close to the venue we went to the show at. Not a bad price for Portland lodging. Kind of a sketchy area in Portland. Family who ran the hotel were kind of nosy and glared at us too. Also, you have to leave a 5 dollar deposit just to get the key and remote at check in.
Windows that open and freedom to smoke. Quality of guest rooms and the aroma of the hotel.
Cheapest available. Escorts out front. Bed bugs. Cigarette smoke everywhere
Location is convenient I suppose. Extremely dirty, the people hanging around the parking lot and hallways looked like they were either on drugs or about to stab someone, room was filthy - dirty sheets, stains everywhere, holes in the tiles and wall, cigarette burns in the blankets - seriously felt so uncomfortable. Just the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. The front desk is a tiny window with probably bullet proof glass which I don't blame them for using given the people who come by. Next time I wouldnt stay here even if it was free.
