Clean bathroom, two sinks, bathtub, big bed Paper cups in the room for coffee in the morning
Walking distance to Conference Center and shopping arcade. adding iron & iron board in certain type of room will be useful.
Friendly staff, easy parking and quiet considering it's centre of ville location.
This is a clean basic hotel. We enjoyed the free parking on site, the free wireless internet, the hair dryer and the AC. The receptionist spoke English and Spanish and recommended restaurants.. There was no English language TV. 'Satellite TV" is apparently no longer code for CNN/Sky. The bed was too firm, not a big issue.
Just across the road from the bus stop to Total; 5 minute walk to centre of town
Adequate for a stopover, but a soulless mid-century modernist design lacks any atmosphere or personality. In a bland neighborhood not far from the city center. Staff, compared to other hotels we stayed at during our ten day trip to southwest France, perfunctory & indifferent.
The staf were very helpful. The car parking is very secure. In the centre of the city this is very important.
Clean and comfortable. Had three small children with us and they were able to accommodate us in bedroom for four.
near the Town centre
We enjoyed our stay at the hotel as it is in a fantastic location. All of Pau is easily walkable the hotel is a stunning building and has lovely original french decor in the public area's. We read it was a little in need of upgrading but we fould it perfect, the slighly faded carpets and furniture only added to the ambience of the place. Our room and bathroom were spacious and recently refurbed and the bed was really comfortable. We would definitely reccommend a stay here. Can't comment on the food as we didn't eat in the hotel.
central location and free hotel parking. large spacious rooms. rooms where large, clean and comfortable but the decor was a bit shabby
The location of the hotel was excellent for sightseeing in Pau. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Sadly, when the temperature was in the 30s there was no air conditioning in the rooms. Almost impossible to sleep!
no worries at all; good performance of the hotel crew i missed a bar to meet my colleages and friends; the lounge was not big enough
The staff, the decor. Restaurant closed at the week-end, the location in the centre was almost impossible to get into. It took 1 hour to find our way through the maze of road works and bizarre traffic arrangements. We felt the price should have reflected the current difficulty. I would not stay again until the centre of the town is completed.
Yes, 2 things; 1) the fact that there were cockroaches in the room, 2)the hotel is in serious need of a refurbishment.
Excellent reception staff.
Room was very nice. Free parking.
Very good location in the heart of the city, close to shops, restaurants, sights. Helpful staff. Good breakfast. Big room with good organized storage and facilities. Once it was a fashionable hotel but now all furniture and facilities are very old and dusty. Dirty bathroom.
It is very convenient for the centre of the lovely city of Pau. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Based on these two points we would recommend it. The room decor is badly in need of refreshment, and not as we would expect from that standard of hotel, especially compared with our expections of the Best Western chain. There was no air conditioning in the room, indeed the room overlooked the airconditioning outlets from other areas which rather added insult to injury!
The room....the facilities....the hotel hospitality No
The rooms were very clean and airy. The staff were friendly and attentive. I didn't feel that the standard of the restaurant was up to par.
We had a marvellous stay at the hotel, it was so close to the Jeu de Paume where I played tennis on Sunday with new friends (including M. Paul Murat, a very considerate host), the facilities at the Parc Beaumont are beautifully appointed, and the meal we had in the restaurant on Saturday evening was the best meal we enjoyed during our two week stay in the south-west of France. The upgrade from a town view to park view was very much appreciated, and particularly as I could see the old jeu de paume building from the balcony!
Beautiful hotel in a pleasant city location. Probably the most comfortable hotel bed we have slept in. Very expensive and empty, we never saw another guest the whole time we were there!
modern clean style yet sensitive to the environment - knowledgeable and friendly staff - excellent cuisine in a relaxing atmosphere no, about as perfect as it could be
Apart from the excellent facilities, I was particularly impressed with the professionalism and friendliness of the staff.
Conducted several business meetings, had a tuor of the town and visted the race track and had lunch. Not very clear instruction in the room about internet connection.
Cleanliness, space, view, quitness, service. Matress a little bit hard. Try "matress toppers" for extra comfort (like all sofitel hotels!)
Very nice staff. Excellent facilities. Gorgeous room. Lack of gym
Nice room, friendly staff, avoid the restaurant, even for breakfast !
The staff at the hotel were outstanding, the food at the resturant was very good, the breakfast was very good. The hotel is within walking distance of down town.
the hotel was a beautiful building The staff were friendly, but although the bar was open it was sometimes to find any one to serve you
SERVICES E COMFORT
Clean and nicely designed, The bath was a bit narrow( and I am slim)
We only stayed one night one our way to friends in Spain. We thoughtthe hotel was well appointed and the gardens lovely. We would certainly stay again on our way at another time. We were extremely disappointed in the food. The Dining room and theprice charged for the food served did not match up to expectations. Although good quality products were used the presentation and care left a lot to be desired. We would still stay at the hotel but not eat in the Restaurant again unless they have a change of chef.
Historic building in excellent condition. Room and bathroom very confortable. Lovely decor, beautiful salons and the added value of the spa.Lovely garden
Quality of room and facilities- great location
Good location. Quiet and relaxing.
A beutiful hotel in a quiet setting yet still convenient for the centre of Pau. The staff were very helpful and the room was generous and comfortable.
its location and friendly staff I was in room 35 .Very little natural light. Could not take a shower as all the water would end up on the floor. No curtains on the window of the bathroom . Not enough towels. The quality of the pillows is poor as well as the sheets. No smoking room available.
good sized rooms, clean, central location, close to chateau, restaurants etc, free pool table!
Bedroom decor was a little strange.
excellent location for exploring pau and for restaurants shops etc
The location was great, the room was spacious and nice with a huge bathroom. Free Wi-Fi was useful. Have not used the restaurant so cannot comment on it.
The pleasant helpful staff - the spaciousness of the room and bathroom, the proximity to the castle. The cleanliness.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the quality of the room and the breakfast was good. We liked the traditional atmosphere and the personal approach of the staff. The air conditioning was not very good, as it was a very noisy free-standing unit.
The hotel was convenient to the Station and some of the other wonderful scenery. We found the breakfast was excelent. The staff was wonderful.
Location - convenient for town centre. Poor quality furnishings - looked like stuff thrown out of someone's home. Very poor breakfast. Parking difficult with limited close to hotel.
Comfortable, friendly, centrally located hotel of character with attractive rooms and parking space.
The room was lovely, big windows and very comfy bed! large tv, clean bathroom...very nice! and it has a lift which was ideal!
It is an easy walk to "pau" centre. Had to ring the bell several times before someone came to check us in.bed was uncomfortable, shower cubicle was old and very stained with mould.
We were only passing through on our way from Spain to UK. Managed to see the Gothic Cathedral, havde a meal nearby & walk around the City - very pretty & lots to see, hence we will return on our way back home!
Location close to town centre and private parking.
Nothing. Hotel was no better than a cheap motel.Lino floors in the hallways.Stairway carpets were stained with god knows what. The lobby(if that's what you call it)smelled of old stale food.Disregard the hotel pictures.Just awfull.Do not stay at this hotel.
The man on reception was an excellent ambassador for the hotel. He was very friendly & helpful. We stayed at Le Bourbon on one of the warmest days of the summer and the aircon failed. The receptionist offered to move us but we stuck with our room as we were only staying one night. I wish we hadn't as, apart from being hot due to the aircon problem, our room overlooked the square which was noisy with revellers until 4 in the morning.
Great location, very central for shops and sightseeing. Room smallish but comfortable. Would be good to provide exta tv channels and a kettle. Bathroom was definitely small, and shower fitting needed fixing.
manager was excellent - spoke english which was very helpful for us. we had a room with a great view out over the square.
A clean, cheap option well located in the centre of Pau Nothing special!
Very near centre of Pau. Friendly, helpful staff. Adequate rooms Some may find rooms quite small
Friendly staff, clean and comfortable accommodation, newly refurbished in attractive style, breakfast available in room, central location. Grand confort room was of good size. Daughter's room (confort double for single occupancy) was so small that it was difficult to open the door or sit at the desk - just adequate for one person, but very small for two.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was very close to centre of Pau yet my room was very quiet and compared favourably with some of my colleagues who stayed at other centrally basded hotels. Breakfast was comprehensive and well laid out. Check in and check out were very efficient. Rooms are slightly smaller than expected
The location is ideal although it is hard to get to by car. Even the taxi driver complained about the vehicular access. We arrived by train and would have walked but it was hot and uphill and the funicular was not running due to repairs. We did walk back to the train station after our stay even with several large bags. We ran the air-conditioning full blast and it did little to cool our top floor room. We had a room at the end of a very dark and narrow corridor. The light was not working in the corridor and it required a flashlight (which we happened to be carrying) in order to find the lock to enter or exit the room. We mentioned the problem to the desk but it was never repaired during our one-night stay.
the comfort, the helpful staff, the facilities the rowdy noise at night, from na earby nightclub and the street outside - until 3 and 4 am.- made sleep impossible in room 204
nothing The heat and Air didn,t work. The light didn't work. The window was very drafty. There was no internet, though the booking said they had it. The staff said it was being fixed, but I don't think t was.
The location. It was actualy very difficult to get there. We found that other hotels from the same area have their direction indicated.
the staffs are good, cleanliness is great the sound of the aircontioner makes noice during all the night..
Staff were friendly and hotel spotlessly clean
I liked the room and very comfortable bed. I liked the code entry systems which meant we could arrive after reception shut.
Good price, comfortable and no hassles. Good location by autoroute for drivers. Situation at edge of town with no local restaurants.
easy to find just off the motorway, clean rooms, friendly staff, close to main routes into pau, good value breakfast, excellent value for money, spa and swimming pool opposite hotel, quiet, free parking wifi didnt work for me-but staff happy to help
I have now stayed in 3 Altica Hotels, this one at Pau is by far the best. Rather a long way out of the town, with little facilyies near to hand, but Pau centre is only 5 minutes drive away, however, parking in Pau centre is very difficult.
Great location, right off of the interstate, and even though reception closed at 9pm, they helped us re-open our room after-hours when we locked our key code in our room. The receptionist spoke English very well. Cute, clean rooms. Other reviewers have said the same thing, and I'll say it as well - the rooms are small! The extra bed under the double bed is a bit hard to get out, and there's not much room to walk around when it is out. Still, the rooms worked out fine for one night for our family.
Only stayed 1 night before catching a flight home, was very impressed by the cleanliness and comfort of this hotel
Fantastic value hotel. Only a few Euro more than the economy hotels but far better equpiped. Staff were delightful and quietly efficient. Our children made very welcome and adjoning rooms with secure shared lobby offered at no extra cost. Rooms well equipped - not large but nicely designed and spotless. All public areas also pleasant and very clean. Breakfast good value. Secure parking a bonus. We highly recommend the Altica chain of hotels. Lighting in bathroom a bit dim - I was struggling to find a negative!
Very small room.
The room was very fairly large and the bathroom good. The staff also spoke some English. We arrived early but didn't have a reference number required to automatically sign in.
Hotel was very clean and just refurbished, basic but comfortable facilities and I would be pleased to book this hotel again. A very minor point is with the majority of French hotels they do not provide basic English T V which I assume with digital broadcasting they now could as the language is selectable.
the beds were very comfortable and the room well decorated and equipped. The owners extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast excellent and the bistro meals in the evening very good. It is quite a long way from the centre of the town
The hotel is new, clean and well laid out. The pool is a good size (proabably 12-15m) and south facing so catches the sun well. The staff were very friendly and the free WiFi was quick and easy to connect to. The room was clean and comfortable with ample room for two adults and two young kids. The room also had a kitchen area. The location of the hotel is actual in a business estate on the outskirts of town about a ten minute drive from the castle. Good for access from the A64 and easy to get to town but don't set your hopes on rolling countryside or beautiful old buildings.
The attention by the staff. Good price quality ratio. Brand new. Nice, complete breakfast. Ideal as a base camp for a family visiting the Atlantic Pyrennees. The location was deceiving at the beginning since teh sorrounding seemed to be an industrial zone, but it was not. The recently planted garden will significantly improve the premises as it grows. It was difficult to find as there were no signs in the nearby roads.
Personal Service from the propietors. Lovely architecture and design. Wide and extremely practical rooms. Superb swimming pool. Good location to visit Pau and its surroundings. Come back again for sure.
We loved everything about Hotel Eden Park - the pool was a real luxury as it was very hot and the kitchen area was great for preparing some snacks. The staff and owner were very welcoming
Kitchenette was an unexpected bonus View
Very friendly staff. Room modern, good beds, airco, free wifi, quiet, complete kitchen in case you prefer to prepare your own food. Probably intended for longer stays. Modern design. Small gym. Free safe parking. Good breakfast. Well located to explore Pau city and the surrounding area. Location on the edge of an industrial zone but easy to reach and quiet. No shops or restaurants in the immediate vicinity. Pool not very large nor attractive.
The gorgeous, well-planned suite, with perfect decor. Perfect for a short or longterm stay. Complete kitchen, living area, view, pool, food, balcony and most of all, the most delightful young owner/designers. The breakfast and dinner I had there were delicious too. I loved it. It is very contemprary, grey and white, spotless and so well-planned. . I was just so sorry to have arrived to late to go swimming as it had gotten cold. The pool looked delicious.
Large, very comfortable and clean room. Terrace over looking pool. Excellent facilities and plenty of work space. Great internet. Food was well cooked and presented. Best hotel that I have stayed at in Pau. Will be back. Approach a little austere but don' be put off. Not in city but worth the ride in.
Extremely central location, beautiful room and bathroom and a lovely receptionist !! The rather unwelcoming attitude from one of the guests upon our arrival and inspection of the rooms. He warned us that we'd better be quiet when returning to our rooms later that night. He was smoking in the corridors when we had been told it was no smoking throughout.
nice & quiet At certain times can't get in the hotel without a code
Location It did not live up to the description on the site, It was a bit dated, shabby (not dirty), hot, small and not what we were expecting. We did not want to spend time in the small rooms.
remodeled room is well decorated location
Clean, spacious Rear of hotel, dark, looking on to a walled-in roof area. We had requested a room to front of hotel. Disappointed.
The staff were very pleasant and helpful, the beds were comfortable and the hotel was clean. The town was easily accessable from the hotel as it is in a central location. I would certainly use the hotel again.
Very pleasant receptionist. Continental breakfast was copious and we were offered more coffee and bread. We were able to leave the car in the car park while we visited Pau although we had checked out. The bedroom was charming.
The hotel was centrally located. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly.
Location, comfort, quiet Limited hours of reception (closed when we arrived at 14:00)
Hotel well situated for the centre of Pau and all facilities. The room was large but generally needed modernisation and a face lift. Shower/WC facilities adequate but small. No air conditioning, which meant having windows open and the Irish pub over the road was noisy with students celebrating end of exams until 3am.
room was a bit quirky, having to be accessed from an outside balcony but was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was the best one we had on a two week holiday, spacious well equiped and modern. It is also in a good position for seeing the city. It took us nearly two hours to find, half of this was taken up on foot as driving is very difficult to a stranger and over half the streets are either one way or pedestrianised. it needs to be stressed in the info that it is only 50mtrs. from the hotel Bristol which we passed several times on our search and would have reduced the time it took to find by at least 80 percent. although we arrived in Pau in good time by the time we got to the hotel reception was closed (20.00 is far too early to close for people travelling). So by arriving at 20.30hrs and leaving at 07.45hrs we did not see any staff at all, not good enough. The entryway and stair carpets are filthy and badly need replacing, we nearly left before we had even got to our room.
Although quite confusing to drive to, the hotel is perfectly placed right in the city centre - ideal for exploring the city sights, and shopping. Our room and bathroom were spacious and clean, and the staff very friendly, and helpful - the receptionist recommended a great restaurant for our final evening. The hotel is currently going through a refurbishment - we didn't find it at all disruptive, but it would be good to let guests know prior to arrival as a courtesy.
The hotel was fine - once I got access to it. I arrived with a heavy backpack after a three hour journey and the last thing I expected was a Pau city centre hotel that was effectively closed from noon until 2:30 pm. There was a speakerphone beside one of the entrances but I got the feeling there was no way I could check in until after 2:30. Then, when I returned to the hotel in the afternoon, the lady had no record of the booking I'd made with your company three days before. In all, a most disappointing display. Be warned, this hotel does not have permanent reception staff on duty!
The location is very good. The hotel is situated in the city center and in the middle of the shopping area. Internett is available in the rooms. The hotel has not been renovated for a very long time. It is a nice place to stay only if you are on a low budget.
Hotel location excellent, free wi fi, staff very friendly, large bathroom which is unusual in budget accomodation. We arrived at hotel in 40 degree heat, room was not air conditioned, however a small fan would have been nice. Common stairway carpet was very dirty or perhaps even needs replacing.
Little bit far from central (by bus about 10 min.) but room was clean and staff were friendly and nice. Breakfast buffet was also nice. There is big supermarket in front of the hotel, was very helpful.
The cleanliness of the room wasn't the best and the smell of smoke was very intense.
Very friendly and helpful staff, good choice at buffet breakfast, larger than average room for a budget hotel The bed was a bit hard and we only had one very tiny/thin pillow each - I know this is normal for France, but it isn't normal for me and in most places there are spare pillows tucked away in wardrobles etc.
I arrived late and as the reception closes at 11pm the staff member had written a long note to me and placed it on the office door with very clear instructions on how to self-checkin, once in my room I found that they had printed a copy of my receipt and placed it there incase I had to continue on my journey before the office opened! Amazing, someone was thinking of everything! Thankyou!
Nice room, good price
Friendly, helpful staff. The nearby Tex-Mex restaurant is good. A good budget hotel. Location is quiet but nothing, except the nearby restaurant, within walking distance.
Extremely clean. Quiet. Very helpful, friendly and pleasant staff. Excellent value for money.
Great staff. Quiet location. Bathroom very cramped. Needs smaller sink, corner shower would allow more room than the bathtub with shower fitting.
basic but comfortable. staff friendly & helpful. excellant mexican restaurant next door.
Self service check-in for late arrivals
clean, a bit old fashon bur very charming.
household atmosphere, it is good small hotel
Owners very friendly, eager to help. Decor was pleasing and room spacious.Good double glacing so no traffic noise.
Efficient and friendly staff.
The hotel was well sited. The owner/managers were very welcoming and helpful. They readily made us a cup of tea and coffee upon arrival. Breakfast good value, room good. None except to echo other comments as to hotel showing age.
Its location, easy walking to shops and bars The breakfast, a bit more effort could be made in a better selection of food for breakfast, very poor for how much we paid.
We booked one night in July 2010 and then were able to continue for 3 additional nights. The location was ideal for our visit. We walked daily to the city center. The breakfast was very good. We stayed in two different rooms. The first with it's own toilet, shower, and sink. The second with shower and sink, but a shared toilet down the hall. Neither was fancy, but they were clean and comfortable, the second room had two sets of french doors to a balcony. We slept with the doors open and with the shutters proped open as is the custom. This was the first time we ever had gone with a room without a toilet but it was great, just like at home. This hotel felt like home and has a big friendly black lab that made the stay special. The hotel shows wear on the capet on the stairs, but wasn't a concern to us. This is a family run hotel, that cares about your stay. If in Pau again we will stay there again.
The friendliness of the staff and the good breakfast A bit threadbare. could do with bigger and more towels
The staff were extremely helpful and courteous, despite being on a busy road the hotel was quiet. Continental breakfast was good value. A good budget hotel. Shower in bath not good, and lighting rather low, although there was a good reading light.
The owners are very gracious and helpful.
Nice place to stay, easy access to Centre Ville and Bus route. Single beds not wide. Staff Courteous and good value for money. Proprietor speaks English.
Clean tidy no nonsense room Slightly cramped for two
Free secure parking The hotel was closed when we arrived on Sunday at 16.00hrs. Anote on the door said it would open at 18.00. I had to ring the owner at 18.20hrs to gain entry, He arrived at 18.45hrs. I was not pleased
very noisy at night facing the street. had to keep window open for fresh air as no aircon. only good if you need somewhere easy to find by car and park, bed was a fold-out sofa!
The facilities were adequate, room quite cosy. Comfortable beds and apropriate heating. Good Breakfast, quality TV. All of those made a pleasant and relaxing stay. A little far out, but still not too far to make a walk to the centre.
Staff was friendly and accomodating, there was wifi in the lobby, the coffee was good. It was much further from down-town than I'd realized and the bus service going there was very sparse, so any visitor without a car should count the price of a couple taxis in his/her expenses for the hotel.
Friendly welcome and helpful staff. Convenient location, good price and nice breakfast.
Staff were very helpful on both occasions, beds were very confortable, hotel is close to Pau city centre and Pau airport, very close to supermarket and restaurants, breakfast was nice with good coffee, staff very helpful in ordering a taxi for me. On second night I was terribly frightened by a male screaming on several occasions either in the corridor or an adjacent room. A door kept slamming for hours on end. Several times I heard a female screaming. I was absolutely terrified and couldn't sleep very well. It sounded as if there was a madman outside my door. I couldn't make a complaint as I don't speak much french.
No Restaurant - No Bar
location Lack of service, standard of fixtures
