The ambiance was nice- classic old style .The rooms were big and the view spectacular. Unfortunately the bath tub drain cover was not working so it required a nail file to remove the cover to drain the tub. This was repeated every day of our stay without the staff fixing it! The room was not cleaned on returning in the afternoon and we were told by reception that we had to call for cleaning !The wall tiles had black mould which Is really unacceptable in a hotel of this class.also, our room had chipped paint around doors and peeling wallpaper trim. All in all,This hotel needs revamping. On the plus side, the location is the best in Nice. The staff were very poor in responding to complaints - no apologies ever.My room smelled of mould ,to discover next day that there was a furnace type room opening into my closet, which did not have a door.On complaining ,I was given an excuse instead of an apology. Also, after staying 3 days,I was stopped by a security doorman on entering the lobby ,to question me if I was staying at the hotel. Very very upsetting and again ,after telling him yes ,no apology. Good staff should know the guests and be carful before causing an embarrassing moment. The service at breakfast was very poor and the buffet layout difficult to manage due to the tightness of the restaurant.
Perfect location, nice sea views, really interesting interiors. Some service points, at the reseption and consierge points.
Wonderful wonderful staff and location location location. The rooms were well appointed and in a style that suited the hotel. The balcony was a great place to get a lovely view of the sea. The rooms were larger then most European hotel rooms and air conditioned which made it very comfortable in the August heat. The public areas and dining rooms were very comfortable and charming. Good business center with easy access. The carpet in the halls made it hard to move luggage around and did not fit the period and style of the hotel. Some of the art didn't suit the hotel ambiance. The carpet in our room was very worn and old. The bathroom had chipped sharp tiles and had not been updated which was a little disappointing for the price point. We were also disappointed that no one informed of the beach facilities available.
Good taste and comfort all over + restaurant Chatecler - the best I ever experienced food/wines and ambiance. Nope.
the interior of the hotel is exelent, very historical! The restoran is also very doog! Service of the reception and also reception manager was full boor. We planed to stay 21 day- and changed the hotel to another one on the 2 day of our stay!!!
Historic building, beautiful lobby Rooms definitely need refurbishment
Very helpful staff; they even said "Have a nice stay" in my language that was amazing! Excellent localtion; place full of arts. You have a feeling that you stay in a museum but you really like it! Just spledid! Nothing, just perfect place.
Bad brekfast? bad plage, bad service, wery high preis - but only in this year
Location close to the sea front The Pool was very small and the sunning area was very small and could only take a small number of sunbathers - we had to instead use the private beach which cost 34 Euros
Wonderful hotel. Excellent quality and service. Centrally located.
Over all a great experience since arrival, very good complementary high speed wireless internet , great breakfast and wonderful bath and shower along with quality interior, worth every cent.
convenience to activities and shopping Bedroom carpets not properly hoovered, air con.not perceptily effective.
Firstly the location was fantastic, 10mins from the airport and 10 min walk from the old town. Our room was beautiful and big with a big balcony over looking the sea. Could'nt fault it.
our room was facing the mediterrania, so beautiful. it is so close to restaurants in town and shopping.loved going to the casino after dinner. it was so clean and spacious (our room).
Friendliness and courtesy of staff None
staff, service, breakfast, location - excellent, by the sea, good shopping, easy to get to railway station, old city, shopping streets by walk
This is a hotel that my best friend and I have been coming to for 15 years and everything works well and the cleaning staff are excellent. our receptionist was not very helpful, telling us that we didn't have a reservation - which was confirmed by the hotel the previous day! may be she was having a bad day
It was right on the beach front and a short walk to the two tour buses for Nice. The staff was very friendly, spoke many languages besides French, room service was excellent and very pleasant. No
The majority of your staff could speak english very well. and they were always very friendly and professional particularily Olivier the concierge
Overall style of the hotel and its superb location No parking - in a very busy and complex town
The hotel staff were very nice and provided lots of advice on how to move around, what to visit etc. Room was very clean. There is no carpet and it is all white tile which made it look very bright and clean. The sea view and sunrise in the morning is worth every penny spent. Compared to many of the hotels we visited in France this was the best overall experience.
Staff most helpful
Location The noise from the road in a sea view room The breakfast far too expensive
I like the location the staff very not helpful at all ,had to ask 5 times at breakfast for hot water in order to have tea
Renovated rooms on the 5th floor are fabulous, soundproofing is great. Location is excellent, staff is well trained and friendly.
Staff were friendly, the room was spacious and the location was perfect.
Staff was really friendly
The hotel is in a superb position on the seafront, the staff are extremely courteous and efficient. Furnished very well in a beautiful French style and very clean.
Nice place, nice staff
small bathroom without practical furniture!
excellent situation for beach and right on promenade. service was good, friendly staff.
Friendliness of staff. Reccomendations for excellent local restaurants UnInformed of Sarcozie's visit & therefore inability to get in or out of hotel
good staff bedroom quite dark on second floor
Nice and clean rooms, close to most Nice amenities, 2 car rentals in the same building (plus casino and police! dept) Common area is very small and required slight renovation, personnel could be more friendly
Very convenient location. Room was spacious. Staff were good humoured and helpful. Bed was super comfy!
location was wonderful, just across the street from the beach and only a couple of blocks from the old town
Seaview rooms are great, exactly in front of the sea and with a modern furniture.
An excellent location and very helpful staff - they contacted a local museum for us to find out if it was open on a Public Holiday (it wasn't!) The buffet breakfast was a bit disappointing. It looked good but all the breads were very dry and chewy, the fruit didn't taste fresh and tea needs to be made with boiling water, not from a pot of warm water brought to the table.
Location, location, location Clear specification of parking on web site
Excellent location, friendly&helpful staff. -
Interior and seaview, helpful receptionist Poor breakfast, leaking ceiling
Very friendly helpfull staff
Across the street from the beach, fairly good location with free internet. Excellent refurbished bathrooms. Staff was very friendly, particularly the bellman. Pictures on the hotel site do not match rthe ooms - stained rugs, old looking furniture, very hard beds and rough linens do make it a newly renovated room except for the wonderful bathrooms. However the size was perfect for two people and the rooms were clean.
nice view, good breakfast and restaurant
It was right on the Esplanade D'Anglaise and very well located for everything.
Fabulous location and views, excellent access to old city
the location was ideal, the hotel very comfortable. In short, we were very satisfied.
The friendly and helpful staff and the fact that it was so near to the bay No
close proximity of sea and shops/restaurants. grandeur of a hotel with history and tradition.
A spacious bedroom & bathroom A little strange there was not shower curtain or door in the bathroom
Room facilities was excellent, the pool area was lovely and the room service was very good. Two out of three concierge staff weren't particularly friendly, while one of them was excellent.
Staff I asked for a non smoking room. Our room smelt very bad of smoking. My wife is allergic to smoke.
roof top swimming pool, serviced very well by public bus service, complimentary bus service offered by hotel, opposite beach double beds do not exist, have to request that two singles be made up as double.,use of beds at rooftop pool had an extra charge!!!!!!!!!
Overall nice hotel, very good facilities and friendly staff The colours of the furniture in my room at 3rd floor was not very pleasant, the floor of the bathroom was with noizy tiles and the air conditioned had no functioned properly
Very nice stay. The view was beautiful. The personnel was courteous.Good food at Bleu Citron.
Room and sea view was excellent. Both the breakfast outside seating and to a lesser extend the roof top restaurant were extremely unhealthy. the breakfast outside area has many dozens of pigeons everywhere, tables, sunbrellas and outer walls were full of pigeons.
Staff and the room how ever we could not get a smoking room
Standard of service. Having to pay for sun lounger.
Nice staff, clean and quite. Hmmm, a bit far from city, but bus is available!pillows could have been better
The swimming pool. Friendliness of the staff. The room was very comfortable. Prices for sunbed and towels are too expensive even when using the hotel swimming pool.
nice and clean hotel, pro staff expensive rooms, very expensive food, services, minibar etc. - not good value for the money. Besides, the hotel is quite far from the city centre (ca. 30 min walking)
The roof-top terrace was a very relaxing area to sit. Also the conference meals and events were well organised. I found my bed too hard and the pillows too soft for my taste.
the location and the friendliness of the room staff (ONLY the room staff, NOT the reception) reception staff friendliness and time to act very poor, pool poor
A great location on the Promenade des Anglais and near to the old town, a good breakfast with stunning view over the Mediterranean though rather expensive, a few design elements, the private beach though expensive too repairing one of the elevators took 3 days, a pity that they charge for internet access (a shame for this category of hotel),
Location, location, location and the breakfast!
location Limitation of repair
great location. on the promenade de anglais... next to the main attractions and close enough to the local market for an easy walk. smoke. but everyone smokes in europe so not a big deal. the casino was a little cheesy, but location more than made up for this.
Size of room. View over the town and sea. Air conditioning not working
The room and balcony
Great location, good reputation. Front desk staff and lounge area very nice/helpful. Knowing this is in a very sexy, happening area, the hotel gets plenty of use, so the tiny details are slightly overlooked. Poor av connection, room more basic than stylized, housekeeping and staff 'a bit' inconvenient or noisy, but overall, good for where the location is. Good experience, not fantastic. Also, wifi should be standard. In-room ethernet (cat5) hookup (iPad, iPhone - won't work), and had to go to lobby, where wifi had to be purchased. Should be amenity. Could connect to McDonalds, which isn't the way to go (or shouldn't be)
Was disgusted to find a bedside table full of condoms used and new plus the carrier bag in which they were bought, obviously the room had not been cleaned very well
sea view and design furnishing heating didn't work that much
Nothing Room was extremely hot (AC not cooling), The hotel is not on the main road as claimed, The hotel did not honor my request to get a high floor room with seaview as it was a special day for my wife,
The rooms were too small eventhough calledvdekuxe
It was a lovely luxary hotel for our honeymoon
Restaurant was fabulous, Food lovely and new waitress on night very friendly and service excellent
I like the location of the hotel A/C was not cooling, and I asked for repair but they did not respond
The staff were exceptionally helpful, allowed us to check -in to our room early on the day we arrived and paying discrete but thoughtful attention to our needs at all times.
Hotel was great! Right off the beach, we had sea view. Rooftop pool was nice..
it has car parking it is very clean and comfort beds, i really like it i can recommend everyone to stay there..
Arrangement, conveniences, a parking I travelled more, therefore was in hotel a little. It would be desirable to receive discounts for repeated visiting of the given hotel.
Location, cleanliness, service staff
very good location
location was excellent room was tiny and bed was more like a single than a double.
good atmosphere I would have liked a more fresh looking and fresh air
hotel was good but booking.com got the room wrong we booked for a double and when we got there it was a twin
Location Bathroom facilities. I did not like the fact that the Shower was hand held I found it very inconvenient.
The staff were helpful for our stay and car parking issues. It is very old and nice building. I found the hotel a quiet old. Rooms need a renovation. The staff were helpful for our stay and car parking issues. It is very old and nice building if it is going to be moderated then it can be the best hotel around.
it was really nice and comfortable, in a central position. if you are with a baby, you have some problems to get in with the buggy, because of no facilities, stairs to go in and door definetly uncomfortable . the Bar is closed too early and the staff not always is able to make a beer!
Location is excellent! Breakfast was good. The carpets, I would prefer wooden floor.
The staff were very helpful and friendly. I asked to borrow a scissors and they lent me one. The room was not cold during the night. The extra pillows in the closet were dirty. The towels had some black marks on them. I forgot to bring my toothbrush and asked at reception but they didn't have any toothbrushes available for me. I also would have liked a pair of bedroom slippers as the bathroom floor was cold.
location on promenade des anglaises british tv sations not working and the shutter to the kitchen broken
Good location on the Promenade des Anglais and within 10 minute walk to main restaurant strip. Good size room. Hotel washing machines did not work. Continued extremely bad experience with one reception staff member and other staff average. Not able to enter room until 3:30pm even though website and booking confirmation details said 2:00pm.
Location, just in front of beach. close to town (by car). free car parking. price, it's just normal price, no discount.
The hotel is very close to the beach. The kitchen is not fully equipped, not kettle, toaster...
Location, large apartment Poor kitchen equipment, not very clean. Didn't meet my expectation of a 4* classification
The size of the apartment was great. Full-size lounge area, kitchen/dining area with full size dining table, completely separate bedbroom and the toilet was separate to the bathroom. The balcony looked straight over the promenade and the sea. The apartments were a little dated but after reading other reviews, that's what I expected. When sitting on the balcony the traffic noise is quite loud.
Room is very big, view is good and very convenience!! Staffs are nice and helpful. We stayed there for 3 nights but didn't clean the floor for 3 nights and housekeeper did not wipe the excessive water from the balcony after a rainstorm.
personal was very friendly and helpfull The cleaning was very poor to bad.
Nice big apartment rooms with plenty of space for the family and a great balcony and view on the beach. The soundproofing is not too good, could not escape the constant, round the clock traffic noise.
nice hotel. low rates. free wifi connection. nice staff.
- Very nice and clean hotel - Friendly and helpful staff - 150m from bus stop to the airport, 10 minutes walk to Nice Ville railway station and about 20 minutes walk along the coastline to the historic center of Nice
The staff was friendly and helpful, nearby there's a supermarket and you're so close to the beach and the centrum of the city. The rooms are small, but they were nice, fresh and clean so that didn't matter.
Very stylish, modern and clean!
The price and the location of the hotel is excellent. Also the breakfast is very good. The room is very small and there is no curtains in the bathroom so everyday we have to clean the floor.
Location was great. The shower was minimal - no curtain or door, and a handheld device only.
perfect location, low price, friendly hotel stuff. Appropriate place if you are by pass and need to spend just 1 night poor space in the room and bathroom; noise from the street; old furniture
nice garden for breakfast, very friendly staff members rooms towards the streetside are noisy, restorative sleep with open window is impossible, internet is not always working proper
Most of the staff was very helpful. Location was very convenient. Lobby and breadfast area nicely decorated. The Internet didn't work in my room and I was told it was my computer. After complaining for two days it was fixed.
The excellent location...it was in close walking distance to everything - restaurants, shopping, transport and the beautiful Promenade des Anglais.
lcd tv no bath tub
The location was excellent and the staff very friendly and helpfull. We found our room rather small some more storage space eg drawers would be useful.Ther was a rather unpleasant sewage type smell at times.
Very well placed for shops, sights and beach and had charm. Breakfast seemed bit pricey for self-service and what was on offer.
the location was excellent, the elevator was really quite cute. rooms are small, the shower didn't drain well, would have been nice to have been offered amenitiies such as shampoo.
Location was superb. One block from the beach and lots of action around. Staff was nice, but most of the time you could not find them between 7pm and 8am. You were on your own. The mold in the shower was horrible and although the linen and towels were washed they were stained and towels were paper thin. They did have the softest toilet paper. Be aware though, they do apply the charges on your credit card upon arrival.
Good location, clean, nice bathroom. The heating was insufficient and the French window draughty. Shower head wouldn't stay in position.
Excellent location in pedestrian zone, close to the beach, old town and boulevard. Very polite and helpful staff. Quiet, tidy room and clean bathroom. Nice small balcony. Nothing that we really did not like. Just don't expect a big hotel with a big lobby and bar etc. This is a small, cosy place occupying top floors of a city building.
The service and friendliness of the staff was outstanding. The room was excellently furnished with a wonderful view of the streets and hills of Nice. The hotel's location could scarcely be bettered. One can be by the sea in a few minutes. Everything was perfect in the hotel. It is an outstanding establishment.
Great location in the pedestrian zone, surrounded by shops and cafes. Small but adequate and very clean room with a terrace. The terrace offered great views of Nice. Lights in the hallway were always off so that made it difficult to try and use keys to open doors. Were never informed about where to find light switches or whether we were allowed to turn them on. The carpet in the room was really sore on the feet to walk on.
Very central - ideal location and yet surprisingly quiet shower tray didn't empty properly
The manager was brilliant, offered me coffee for free. Really nice freandly people. My girlfriend and i were given free coffee and yogurts on the morning that we left at 6AM. The WIFI didn't work in room 11, but i could use it in the loby.
Our booking request for a balcony to enjoy wine on was met in every respect as our large roof top balcony provided a splendid location for our promptly delivered hotel breakfasts along with relaxing glasses of local rose after a busy day taking in Nice and its surroundings. The hotel is ideally situated only one block back from the promenade de anglais and easy bus link to the airport.Hotel Solara set amidst pedestrian zone with plenty bars & restaurants & shops! Yet only short stroll takes you to the old town where the choice of dining is endless. We ate twice at Mother India & Acchiardo, very nice authentic biryanis & traditional rustic french dining respectively. The friendly staff and cleanliness of the hotel made our stay thoroughly enjoyable. If you are looking for a low key relaxing hotel as we found Solara ticked our boxes. Front door pass key needed a little bit of a technique to open but once done entry never a problem subsequently. Also the two person lift was definately a squeeze with luggage but we negotiated twice although some guests opted to do single runs!
The staff was extremely friendly and willing to help with anything. The location in the pedestrian area was amazing. The only negative is that the bathroom needs some modernization. The shower didn't drain very well, and the hair dryer looked like something from the 1970s.
The location of the hotel is amazing. Literally a 2min walk to the beach, and a 5-10min walk to the shops and many restaurants. Also only a 10-15min walk from the station (with packs on). The staff were incredibly friendly, all spoke english and were all willing to help us out with whatever we needed- which we really appreciated. The room itself had a fan to help with the heat (which it really did) and double glazed windows to help with the 'night noise', again, which really helped. The linen was clean and the rooms made up each day. Also very safe entry, as you need a security code to get in. Free internet access (including wifi in rooms as well as public computers) made a real difference as well. We enjoyed our stay. I'm a bit of a 'stickler' when it comes to cleanliness, so perhaps other readers won't be as picky as me, but the bathroom could have done with a good scrub. It was clean enough & the towels were fresh, but the bottom of the shower curtain looked like it was going mouldy- from excess steam/water. (A small fan in there might help). The carpet looked a little grubby & could use replacing- and the windows needed a clean. The kitchenette probably was able to be used- but we didn't trust it, plus the fridge wasn't working- so don't bank on it being there to save cash on food. But nothing major really. Still totally fine, and I would still recommend the hotel to those that aren't very picky. I have stayed in better hotels for less $$ though.
Good location (2 minutes from Promenade des Anglais and 10 minutes from Old Town), comfortable bed, good-size room with nice little balcony, internet facilities, friendly staff. We specifically chose this hotel for the kitchennette, but it was very poorly equipped (not even a kettle or jug) , and the refrigerator did not work - I don't think it has for some time. In the shower, the bar that holds the shower-head was missing, so it was hand-held only. (We checked the room next door, and both refrigerator and shower were fine). Credit card facilities were not working, and had apparently been out of action for 2 weeks (Believable?) so we had to pay cash.
Close to the beach The hotel is in desperate need of refurbishment. We did not know beforehand that they want payment in cash either. Bedroom furniture and bathroom fittings in a deplorable state.
The staff could not have been more friendly and welcoming. There was a relaxed atmosphere. The lift was out of service, which was a problem for those travelling with suitcases. The decor was "tired" and the corridors were cluttered. The lounge was tiny and very cramped.
close to the beach. have large balcony room carpet was dirty
It was nice that the staff could speak english
Friendly and english-speaking staff(s); Only one power-point for electrical appliances (I can either only watch TV or use the fan at any single time) hence its very frustrating.
Good location, friendly hotel staff, ect. -
The value for the money, when comapred with other hotels in Nice. Proximity to the beach. The distance from the main tourist areas, no bus running after 9PM, therefore you must walk kilometers to return after a nice dinner in the old town.
it is close to the sea, promenade des anglais, casino supermarket, and some nice restaurants. the pool was nice also. the staff should be stricter on the troublemakers.
Room was clean and comfortable. Excellant positon for beach and the promenade. No
great that it has kitchen, so you can eat in the room, wireless internet, a very good location, 30min walk in promenada and you are in the center or you can take bus and in 10-15min you are in the center, clean rooms, a good staff. only that there is no hair dryer in the room, and there are limited numbers of you can rent, which i couldnt rent all were taken.
good location. 1 minute from the beach. fridge in the room is a very good thing too. underground parking for 30 per week. if you are travelling by car and don't want to spend a lot of money eating at restaurants - this is for you ask for a room with the terrase and not facing the street, because it's too noisy even with windows closed.
I was on business at the Monaco Boat Show
The location of the hotel is a bit far from decent restaurants and the old town.
Room was good with sleeping for 2 adults and 2 small children. There was a kitchenette. We went to the pool but it was freezing and there was no hot tub so it was a big disappointment. With the exchange rate parking and breakfast the rate was 120 euros. I felt it was expensive. Pool wasn't heated.
The breakfast is very good. The hotel is well localized. The reception is not opened 24h.
It's a nice hotel in general for this price. Good location and lovely bath staff in toilet room. Fresh towels almost every day.
To be honest I got better room in some hostels...the location of the Med Hotel is really nice just one block from Negresco and the Promenade seaside. That's the only positive point. I recommend that hotel for backpackers only. the room was very small and with the view on a wall...
shame it's not very clean in the room but reception staffs are very friendly and helpful.
Well located by the beach Room was to small and the shower room was old and cramped.
Really nice staff, good price and excellent location
Location location location ! The location is next to seaside, restaurants, center and train station. Value for money. Rooms are clean. The young receptionist lady was so nice and helpful, the others were OK.
I would have rated the staff excellent if it wasnt for the rudeness of the night porter. Day and evening vere helpful and very friendly, room was nice, very clean and quiet.Location was great!! the night porter, his nasty attitude may stop me staying there in future.
Nice relaxed atmosphere, helpful staff. I liked teh brekfast room. It felt more like a hostel. If you put in a refrigerator and a stove you could affer self catering and be fully booked with backpackers. Was there an inner yard also? some construction work was going om No elevator or airconditioning: but what can you expect in a budget hotel?
Location Ease of Check-In Able to store bags/backpack post-checkout Sewage backdraft smell after flushing toilet
The location is super: it is right behind Negresco Hotel, 1 block away from the sea, and the street is well lighted at night, very safe. Right beside the hotel, there is a food store, a backery, and a restaurant----and they are all of good quality and relatively low price. The 98 bus to airport has a stop on the main road 2 blocks aways from the hotel. The wireless internet connection is very fast
