location is great Thought the staff at the front desk could have been nicer. They didn't even say thank you for staying when I checked out.
Really enjoyed the Historic aspect of the Hotel. Very opulent, and had wonderful informative signs regarding various history of the building. Staff is really good, polite, and helpful.
I can't even put into words just how amazing the staff were. Every single person I met was so friendly and accommodating. Even going as far as making me a make shift shower chair due to my ankle being broken and needing assistance. Every need was met and then some! The ONLY issue we had was the sensitivity of the room keys. We had to have them remagnetized every day sometimes numerous times in a day.
i stayed here with a group of 9 women. This hotel was in the very best location to walk everywhere that we wanted to go in the French Quarter. It was a really great price and i would definitely stay there again, group or individually. Having traveled to NOLA many times and stayed at many similar hotels, this was the easiest, cleanest, and best value by far.
The room was giant The place was shabby, even the uniforms were cheap. The hotel bar closed at 12:30, the room service was from like 4-10 and was provided by a third party, in the morning I called for a sprit and it took FOREVER for it come. I paid 450 for that room. I should have been at the Four Seasons level.
Everything. The people working the desk when we checked in around 10pm were exceptional employees. N/a
I loved the location of the hotel the staff was courteous and friendly. The in hotel restaurant had good food but was a bit pricey. Our room was clean, I am a picky person so it met my standards. I thought some areas could have had better house keeping. Large dust bunnies were all over the floor near the stairs. The main area that was traveled by the guests were kept cleaner. But most importantly I didn't like that they permitted a drunken homeless person to sleep outside of the hotel doors, not a good first impression for many guests.
More hotel than what we expected. Great staff, great location, great food, great hotel! Will make it our go to hotel every time we visit.
- Location, location, location. Traveled with a friend and this was incredibly convenient to everything we wanted to do in NOLA. I'd absolutely bring bikes if you have the means, makes the city a lot more accessible and reduces transportation issues. - Pool - Staff was awesome, very accommodating even at the last minute - it's clear that they all like their jobs - Stored our bikes in the room downstairs so they didn't take up space in the smaller room and the doormen were always available to open it up for us. Before we found this out they kept our car in a gated lot close by to make sure our bikes were safe on the car. - Free drinks at bar are slightly misleading... Not a total scam but just make sure you want well liquor and add up the cost prior to making it a double with "premium" liquor. - Valet can be slow but they did give a heads up that it would take 40 minutes at some times. - Depending on where you are in the hotel you may have a way to walk down the halls to your room but this isn't really a big deal. - Truly not that bad - if I HAD to pick bad things this is what I remember but I would absolutely stay there again.
Right by Bourbon St room was clean and nicely appointed great central courtyard with pool Location makes it noisy rooms on one side were noisy to a non-stop generator terrible pillows no room service uninformed staff (front desk not aware there was no room service, housekeeping not clear whether feather pillows existed... isn't this a basic requirement in most hotels? plastic mattress cover - I guess too many people enjoy the party atmosphere too much & they have mattress issues!
Beautiful hotel with friendly, efficient staff. If you want to stay in the heart of Bourbon Street this hotel is it. Upgrade to Balcony suite for a perfect stay. Everything was great.
Great room. location, and the staff was incredible.
Good position and great to have free on-site parking. Room clean and spacious. Could have done without the corridor floors being polished at 6.30am.
The staff was incredibly lovely! They were super helpful with events going on in the Quarter, and the hotel itself is a perfect location! We had amazingly comfy king bed with a gorgeous shared balcony off the back. I loved that among the bathroom amenities that they included a makeup remover toilet! That was truly a life saver after a long night of great music and libations in the neighborhood. We will definitely stay here again when we're back in NoLa! The bathroom was a touch out dated for those that mind, but we certainly didn't! :)
Location As above comment and door of the room did not close fully with single lock and just a chain, other locks did not work either
The easy access off I-10 to a complimentary parking lot behind the hotel was a bonus. We were able to walk to everything and never moved the car until it was time to depart. The safe location made it nice to be out after dark and not feel threatened.
Staff was great bathroom dated-carpet old
i've been coming to the Richelieu for years, and it's still my favorite hotel in New Orleans. All that New Orleans is: classic, faded, fun, vibey, and somewhat inexplicable :)
The location, while not in the heart of the French quarter like many other options, was very close to the great live music on Frenchman street. The staff was very nice and helpful. The property is extremely old. While I didn't mind that necessarily, the beds were very uncomfortable and the carpet looked like if could use a cleaning.
We came for our honeymoon and was pleasently surprised that our suite was so big and equiped with a full kitchen. It's where Paul McCartney stayed for an added bonus. The staff were very nice and accommodating. We arrived early due to having to take an early flight and had to check in early yet our room wasn't ready. The manager gave us some drink coupons to use at the bar due to having to wait. That was very nice considering we were checking in prior to the actual check-in time. I felt for a suite of that magnitude it woyld have been nice if they had an in-room coffee maker.
Once we complained about the room we were upgraded to a beautiful room. The one we were expecting. Had to complain to get a room that was even tolerable. Would have liked to get a nice room from the start rather than feeling like we had to complain to have a good experience on vacation.
The gentlemen who ran the kitchen and bar were the nicest men I've ever met! They are family now especially mr. Don The short, Hispanic woman at the desk had an attitude.
Le Richelieu has an excellent location on the edge of the French Quarter, close enough to walk everywhere but quiet and with ample parking. Staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel has more atmosphere than the big chains. No problems.
Love the location, the pool/courtyard and the friendly staff. The decor was a wee dated, old style TV sets.
Hotel room was beautiful. Loved our car was inside the courtyard, safe and close. Can't wait to go back.
Pool, beds, doorman and location Desk staff and the lose of free breakfast
Staff is wonderful. Courtyards are perfect and the location is great! Would definitely stay here again.
2 blocks from bourbon
At first I thought the location was good but at 3am a large group of bums would gather outside of our room fighting, singing, and yelling very loudly-so much that we were scared for our safety. They would not accept our travelocity reservations and tried to charge My credit card again, even though it was already paid for. We did not get the rooms we asked for with two queen beds. The restaurant was closed the entire time we were there too. For the price we paid the tiny room should have had a refrigerator or at least a coffee maker.
location price furnishings, maintenance level
Great service even though the hotel was booked solid for ballgames in town! Awesome doorman/concierge and continental Breakfast~ Breakfast dishes could be a little bit larger - and/or a tray to carry since we had to sit outside to dine~
My absolute favorite thing was the real shuddered Windows, floor to ceiling that actually opened up to the French quarter. Like you could hang out the window and watch the groups go by on the haunted New Orleans tours. The fact that they stopped in front of my hotel was only slightly nerve racking The room smelled a little like mold and my ears and throat itched all night. Also, the toilet seat was loose and threatened to throw you on the floor everyone you sat on it.
Great location... within a few blocks of historic/tourist locations and typical regional (cajun, seafood) and gourmet dining. Excellent value.
location and parking No window in room. Breakfast was poor.
Great location. The hotel was in the French Quarter of New Orleans located 1 block from Jackson Square and 2 blocks from Bourbon Street. We never had to use our vehicle during the stay. The staff was friendly and helpful. We didn't spend a lot of time at the hotel but the room was clean and quiet. I will definitely stay there again.
In general it was really nice. The court yard was really nice and clean
We did not have any problems. The room was adequate with good air conditioning, and the staff was friendly. We felt the hotel was a great value and the location was perfect. We were steps away from Jackson Square and a block and a half off Bourbon. The room was a little dark and outdated, but nothing I couldn't handle. They probably should renovate the bathroom sooner rather than later.
We could not have picked a better location to stay. We could walk out our door and be at Jackson Square. Great for walking and taking in the New Orleans culture!!!!
Clean and in a great location in the French Quarter Room was a little small but we are not stay in the room folks. We were out walking and site seeing.
Location Front desk staff could have been more friendly and the check-in process was slow and inefficient. Breakfast was minimal: stale pastries, a fruit basket, OJ and coffee.
The location was great as well as the morning staff Didnt care much for the night receptionist, gave a little bit of an attitude when we asked for extra towels. Oh and the pool was dirty all 3 days we were there. I thought my bathtub had a ring...geez.
The location and the friendly staff.
The room was beautiful; the hotel is beautiful; the staff was courteous. The elevator for the car garage broke and myself and many others were trapped there all day and I was not able to get my car out until 10pm. We had to convince the manager that he needed to pay for meals and drinks (even water) while we all waited and then he FINALLY offered hotel rooms elsewhere for the night to the ones who chose not to wait up late to get their cars out when it was fixed.
Great location! Street noise.
The lamothe house has an incredible location, we could walk and explore the French quarter very easily. The staff was super friendly, the pool Is beautiful, the room was clean and I loved that they used Aveda products in the hotel bathroom. I'd definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and will most likely stay here my next trip to New Orleans.
Great room with huge shower and jacuzzi tub. Bed was very comfortable. Rooms were very much in the style of the French quarter. Great for people that are not using the hotel for more than a place to sleep comfortably with great location for a French quarter experience. No bar attached
Very close and convenient to Frenchman Street...choose enough to French Quarter area without being in the middle of it all Nice quiet area, loved having the secure parking lot right there
It was close enough to the action to walk there but far enough away that it was quiet. Wonderful French Quarter hotel and experence . Jenny and Eric really went above what was expected. They added so much to our trip with tips and advice
Location Climate Control - none in one room, off/on in another - controlled by front desk, Not clean, Ran out of blankets/wash cloths, Staff was apathetic
Location and friendly, very helpful staff, affordable
perfect location in the heart of the French Quarter, very nice atmosphere, you feel like being in a different time. Of course, lack of internet connection and fancy entertainment set comes with that
excellent location breafkast
the room was to small and the tubin the bathroom was small for a child to fit in could not site in the tub was not long was a little tub and it keep runing water
Loved the fact that there was a balcony all alone the front of the rooms, it was a nice view and good spot to read the morning paper and wake up.
Great location, comfortable bed, clean bathroom. Walls and couch were filthy, light on street lit up entire room throughout the nights, breakfast always late, cold, and incorrect.
The room wasn't ready by checkin, the room had not been cleaned (bottle caps and trash still in the room), the bathroom was still a mess, no windows in the bedroom. I stayed one night before getting a room at the Marriott.
location room to be ready at checkin room to be at chateau not down the road. free parking 35$ extra? seriously
Our room was very cozy and quiet. We felt very safe and would stay there again!
Absolutely loved the people and their help with recommendations. Helped to get a bit more of the local feel versus the tourist attraction hot spots. Have stayed before, but still a great location to get anything you want to get to, both inside and outside of the Quarter. Melanie and Allen were superb and always available and willing to go above and beyond. Just had a couple of lights that were out, but was fine. Not much water pressure at ask, and would have been nice to have a little fridge, but no complaints.
I met my best friend in New Orleans for a long weekend, and staying at the Cornstalk was perfect. The room was gorgeous, the staff helpful, the courtyard a perfect oasis to sit and eat take-out lunch, the beds super comfy. It is in the thick of everything, without being right on Bourbon Street, which would have been way too crazy. Royal Street is extraordinary, with tons of gorgeous antique shops and good restaurants. Most importantly - there was a coffee shop just down the block from Cornstalk, and the Verdi Marte is only about four blocks away, where you'll get the best sandwiches in New Orleans. This place was utterly delightful. They don't make it clear on the website that there is no elevator, and that even to get to the ground floor, there is a huge staircase - and this is the only access. The day we were checking out, an elder couple was attempting to check in, but the wife - who used a walker - couldn't begin to make it up the stairs to the ground floor, let alone the 2nd floor room they'd booked. This was a Saturday night, and I imagine they had a terrible time finding another room - and they'd obviously flown in from somewhere far away. This is something that should be made crystal clear to anyone who books a room.
This hotel although updated has an old vibe to it. It was a great place to stay. It is not your Holiday Inn or Hilton, so if you find yourself looking for that sort of thing this is not your place. Every time someone comes back to the hotel or leaves the hotel you will hear it. Including the 5 am return from the bar. Truly it didn't really bother me because I was in New Orleans for crying out loud. I came to expect it. However, if you are someone that needs complete silence and would be bothered by people getting back at all hours of the day then you may want to reconsider Hotel Royal.
The location of the hotel was very good - one block from Bourbon Street and a short walk to most of the city attractions. The room facilities were tatty and in needs of an overhaul. The hotel could be very good - it has huge potential, but lots of little things let it down. The bed was not that comfy - in fact some of the slats under the bed had been broken, the bathroom facilities were dated (and in poor maintenance), the hanging space was a joke (a tatty wooden hole), the new blinds that had been fitted were also damaged and I even found an empty food carton under the bed. Not what I expected from a hotel in the USA.
the position is very good just in the middle of the french quarter the room was without a window
Parking was almost 30 dollars a day!
Best location for the price in the Quarter. Although I would not suggest it for the fussy, those who want a real French Quarter experience will love it. On first impression room very small and ammenities I am use were missing. After my first walk around I realized what this hotel is really about. We loved it!
Very comfortable and close to everything. Courtyard was beautiful. Not for elderly or people with problems walking up and down stairs, no evevators,
its in the inthe city of new orleans the rooms are to small. no elevators
Convience to it all. Parking and fast internet right in the middle of all the fun. Kind of a maze. Floor sloped down and so did the bed causing me to have to adjust throughout the night.
The only thing good about this hotel is that is located one block from Bourbon Street. My room was not cleaned even though I requested it. I had to practically beg for clean towels. There was no clock, coffee maker, or remote control for the TV. We were not even told where the included breakfast items would be in the mornings.
The room was a little small but beautifully decorated
When i made the reservation I was NOT told that I would have to WALK UP 6 FLIGHTS OF STAIRS WITH NO HELP FROM THE STAFF TO CARRY LUGGAGE! Our wifi did not work..our keys did not work..there was a $150.00 deposit that was not told to us until we checked in..We were not expecting that...breakfast was extremely light which was fine but there was no where to eat beside the courtyard and most of the giests occupied that. The location was great..and it was quiet.
Beautiful hotel if not a bit difficult to find. A perfect French quarter inn on Royal. Phenomenal deal in mid sept.
The complimentary breakfast was a beautiful silver tray breakfast in bed. It was a very pleasant surprise. The court yard was beautiful and the room very comfortable. the only negative i have is that they were under construction and started working loudly very early in the morning.
Nice trip back in time with the courtyard. This is on Royal St just one away from the infamous Bourbon St in the French Quarter. Staff was great. Room was clean. Just realize going in that this is an old town with limited opportunities to actually park anywhere except public parking several blocks away. But again, old town blocks so the walking is not bad at all. Elderly and those have difficulty walking will have to watch where you walk the entire time as the sidewalks tends to have sudden drops scattered here and there. Very uneven walking, but again, it is a very old town. I believe no one should ever have to pay $100 a night at any hotel, except for event days and unless it is some palatial suite, so this is a general knock against the hotel industry.
I stayed for six nights in July. Summer prices were excellent, and the location is superb. According to one of the many Haunted New Orleans tours that went by, the Jackson Hotel is one of the most haunted places in NOLA. I heard nothing, spooky or otherwise, in this quiet gem. Small room, but who stays in their room for long when they're staying in the Quarter?
Location Staff failed to provide promised services. Plumbing repairs in lobby area and staff demsnded access to our room numerous times. Refused to relocate us
Location was excellent! Staff was friendly. The room was small but sufficient. The bathroom was so small and quite uncomfortable. Furniture old but not bothersome. I wished there were two chairs in the room for convenience. We ended up eating on the floor and using our one chair as a table.
The location was great- within a short walk to restaurants and bars, but just far enough from the busy spots to be quiet. The staff was polite and helpful. The room was small but sufficient for 2 people. Parking is valet only about $35 per night plus tax, although you have unlimited in/our privileges. You don't need your car really for the location though. The room was not clean. Stains on the sheets and towels, floor looked filthy, and vomit remains left around the bottom of the toilet. I don't care about how the hotel looks, but cleanliness is a must and this was nowhere near clean. The breakfast is just tea/coffee plus a croissant. That is fine but the croissants were not very good so I recommend getting the coffee then going somewhere for better food.
Great location but not clean at all. I noticed our bed comforters were dirty as well as the sheets. Have a gut feeling they were not changed. Watch out for bed bugs. Management needs to get on how clean the room and bathroom is. The shower had that brown rust on the walls. Personally I would not stay there again.
This hotel has a lot of character. Don't expect anything luxury but I really like this hotel. It was clean and comfortable enough for the quarter and the price was half of other hotels. Room 110 is large and secluded in the back. It opens up onto the court yard. The location of this hotel is amazing! Side note: parking is expensive but it's the same everywhere.
The outlets in my room were almost non-functional. When I tried to plug in an appliance, the plug would wiggle and fall out just enough that it would lose contact and stop working. The TV wouldn't turn on because of this, and I had to plug the hair dryer in next to the door because the outlet in the bathroom didn't work.
Warm & very helpful staff Beautiful / Comfortable accomadations Location on Rotal was central to everythjng we could walk to Very clean/ Staff very efficient Serivice of Continental Breakfast a lovely start to our day The Bathroom is a bit small but big soft towels were in abundance
We had a beautiful balcony room that we ate our complimentary breakfast on every morning. The bed was enormous and really comfy high ceiling and nice antique looking furniture beautiful court yard friendly concierge staff We didn't have hot water for a couple hours Only one roll of toilet paper stocked in the room at a time I went to use a wash cloth provided for me and there was makeup stains on it that hadn't been fully washed away sofa bed was collapsing at the foot end worker who delivered our breakfast asked for a tip
