Sophisticated Get beds The staff was super friendly The fee for parking
We liked the location. Lobby is wonderfully furnished. Food at the Beacons was mediocre at best. We ordered $11.00 glasses of wine for 4 adults and the waitress said they must be served in plastic before college game. We looked around and other people were being served with glass glasses. I requested to have ours repoured into glass and she refused. Even after the game when we once more came in, they served us with plastic and others with glass. We left after one round of 4. We will not be returning to the Beacon pre or post game in the future.
The location was ideal since we were in down for a football game and the stadium was only 2 blocks away. Rooms were spacious. I liked the in room coffee, The electric plug ins were hard to use. Half of them would not let you plug anything into them. I found the beds to be hard and the pillows way to soft.
The staff, from the second we walked in to the moment we left were helpful, welcoming and friendly. Very accommodating. They more than made up for the physical flaws and turned the stay from a begrudged expense to a pleasant experience. There was a mistake in our room (probably my fault) and the desk goddess quickly, cheerfully, and effortlessly changed us to a room that suited our needs. For the price we paid I was appalled at the condition of the carpeting; stained beyond belief, worn, frayed. Frankly it was shocking. I know, a dumb thing to be shocked at but it was that bad. The ice machines didn't work on several floors. Parking was ridiculous; we had to pay for it and still couldn't park in the hotel lot, necessitating extra hassle on our parts. It is my understanding that there were some events going on that night (weddings, I'm guessing) that filled up the hotel lot but it seems to me it would be more equitable for those attendees to park in the parking garage rather than sending the overnight guests to the parking garage across the street.
Excellent location! Good service. Fun and relaxed atmosphere.
Room was dirty. The cosmetic comforter had a blood stain (or something that looked like blood). Bellhop answered the phone every 1/3 times. Shuttle ride to conference center was very stuffy, hot.
The uniqueness of the hotel. Has it's own look - very different than the typical Marriott, Hyatt, etc. Nothing is included! You are charged for every little thing on top of the already over inflated price.
We were told where to park with our fee. As we returned from our outing, there was a tow sticker on our car. How disheartening to travel 6 hours to visit family in the hospital and yet another 2 hour trip after that. What if our car had been towed? Would we have gotten to the hospital to see family or make it to work on time the next day?
The shower is amazing! Comfortable beds. All of the staff was VERY friendly and helpful. Free shuttle. I was charged $256 per night for the same room that costed $120 in May of this year. Parking is $15 per night. I called days ahead asking for a certain view, didn't happen.
location to the UMN. Friendly staff. no full size mirror in the in room or bath Funky bathroom with sink, mirror in the corner. the shower head did not stay in place. no mini refrigerator. nickel and dime you for little extras.
It was a great location for our needs - the staff were very helpful and friendly There were a number of simple mix-ups in billing - not getting the room we booked - having to move rooms a number of times, but staff worked hard to rectify.
Clean, nice facility, excellent staff interaction, good restaurant and adjoining Starbucks. Great location on U of M campus allowed easy walk across to West Bank.
Comfortable room, clean, breakfast was nothing special but ok. Helpful staff. Bad internet connection
Great hotel Poor breakfasts
The location was great. Right by the University, and therefore close to bike paths, which was important to us. We also appreciated having a luggage cart to help us get our stuff from the car to the room, and back again. Our biggest complaint was to be told "free wifi" only to find out that yes, there was wifi, but it was worthless - unless you were trying early afternoon when most people were out. We had planned on using the wifi network at Day's Inn, to decide what we wanted to do each day, but ended up going to a coffee shop, because we couldn't even check our email at Day's Inn. Anther complaint : Toilets needed plunging (we saw employees with plungers in the halls several times, and the final morning ours needed it, too)
Location was great. Great price for location with free shuttle, free wifi, free parking. Nice to have a refrigerator in the room. The front desk staff were very very nice and helpful. The rooms were quite uncomfortable. The tubs didn't drain properly which was quite gross thinking of how many people have stood in that shower with 2 inches of standing water. The beds and pillows were very uncomfortable, woke up each morning with terrible back and neck pain, so did my peer. We also were almost late for our conference as we were told the shuttle was stuck in traffic, however when the shuttle arrived 15 minutes late, there was frost all over the windows and it was freezing - obviously the shuttle was not stuck in traffic, an employee was late, which resulted in 10 others being late. Also it would have been nice to have a do not disturb sign to place on the door so staff would not to come in and clean when it is unnecessary.
Friendly staff and we were good taking care of. The hotels shuttle bus made it easy going around, to the city-center and restaurants.
$10 for an extra bed added to a Double Room is a great set up for our daughter and us, before her UOM freshman Move-In Day.
Staffs are very friendly, hotel rooms are very comfortable, pricing is very good.
Reasonable condition at reasonable price Building is a bit old, but I cannot complain at this price.
I was having day surgery and this hotel was close to the hospital and the price was great. Also they have shuttle service to and from the hospital.
No non-sense hotel - value for money.
The hotel was one of the cheapest in the area, and located right next to Minnesota's campus, but there wasn't anything else to write home about.... House keeping forgot to replace towels, didn't restock coffee, and the sheets and towels would have stains and holes. They removed the garbage and forgot to replace the bag afterwards. The breakfast was subpar and the eggs were quite questionable and slimy. One morning they were out of most things in the breakfast room other than toast and yogurt. I was told it would be 10-15 minutes before they could restock everything (eggs, biscuits and gravy, sausage, etc....). This doesn't work very well when you are a business traveler and have to eat and then get to work....
Room was quiet and had everything I needed: high-speed wifi, plenty of outlets, very close to my conference location. Staff was very friendly and helpful. They checked me in about three hours early which was really helpful for me to get work done while away from the office. Continental breakfast was pathetic. I got what I paid for (it was free). Also the grouting in the entire bathroom was crumbled away and missing to the point I could have tunneled down to the floor below me with a spoon.
