Perfect location, beautiful, historic, high-class, staff is VERY friendly/accomadating/helpful/welcoming A bit outdated, in need of some renovations/modernization. It could be a truly luxurious experience if the lobby area were brought up to date. The piano bar/lounge could be wonderful if it were renovated. I envision something truly great in the future.
The staff was very curtious and helpful. They retrieved a forgotten cell phone. Arranged a driver and tour guide to Guadalupe. Came to room to open wine bottle. The roof restaurant and cafe food was excellant. Waiters pleasant. The small elevator somtimes had a strange odor. It was clean but could use some kind of air freshner.
Luxury with very few money. Huge room, bathroom, very quiet both inside and outside the room, right in the heart of Mexico City. I would really go again. Do not forget to visit the restaurant in the terrace for an excellent view of Zocalo.
the glass ceiling in the lobby is very beautiful. Room is spacious. Location is great The bed is not very comfy. First room was noisy with machine working outside and we changed a room on the second day.
The best room in the hotel didn't have curtains and it took them 3 hours to prepare a new room for us.
From the start, I was treated amazingly. Given a glass a champagne and told about the magaestic history of the hotel. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. Especially senor ernesto. Thank you!
The entire hotel is truly beautiful and classical. We loved the decor, the foyer, the staircase. The entire building was wonderful. The shower did not work for our entire stay despite reporting the problem to the staff on the first morning. I do not believe they looked at the problem. I was also given some very poor information regading the estimated cost of a taxi. However I still consider this a wonderful hotel if everything works.
The hotel is located in a great location. The staff was great. The rooms are small.
Super friendly staff and great location. Need more sound proofing walls, you can hear your neighbors conversations.
Location, location, location - the old heart of Mexico City
The hotel is a gem. It is centrally located, very clean and the staff was amazing. They were friendly and helped us out with getting around the city. As soon as you walk in they make you feel welcomed. They greet you with a smile and a glass of authentic horchata or jamaica. Love it!! The evening guest services provides us with suggestions for excursions, which we took advantage of. The restaurant buffett was a bit overpriced. It does provide a great view, so that's what you mainly pay for.
Location. Staff members were very accommodating and did successfully resolve a major problem with noise. There was a terrible problem with noise late one night due to needed repairs. This should not have happened; an alternative should have been found., and conflict avoided.
The rooms at the Zocalo Central are well accommodated and well maintained. The staff is phenomenally helpful and friendly, and the roof-top cafe has an unbelievable view of the national cathedral and central plaza below. For sightseeing purposes, one can't beat the location, which is merely steps away from the cathedral, Palacio Nacional, and the city's archeological site.
Holiday Inn Zocalo is located on Constitution Plaza and was an excellent location, especially for those interested in history. The surrounding area is also a major shopping area. On Our first stay we had a room that the toilet didn't flush and the plumbing generally was poor. Our second stay, a few days later was much better. We wondered, not for the first time, whether internet bookings tend to be given lower grade rooms.
The wonderful location. Nothing
Best view of Zocalo, the front desk staff were very professional and accommodating. The free water bottles and apples were quite welcoming. Rooftop restaurant did not have a bar, you have to order and sit on a table to drink. I paid the most expensive mojitos I ever had $24 dollars for two to be exact plus tip for the waiter. The room I had was tiny with a 1foot by two slim overhead window, quite claustrophobic for me... The breakfast buffet was $24 dollars, really! You walk next block to Restaurant El Popular and order their menus for less than $6.
location, comfort of room The website states this hotel has an airport shuttle - incorrect
Fantastic location in the heart of CDMX. Excellent service. Professional and personable staff work hard to make your stay enjoyable. Lovely boutique hotel.
I loved the staff and location I did not like that there was no parking for hotel guest.
The staff were really helpful and courteous. The room was really clean, comfortable and everything seemed fairly new. On a couple of mornings, there were some loud repetitive noises coming from somewhere near my room, it was kind of annoying. But the rest of my group never heard anything so maybe my room was just unluckily located.
good location, pretty good value. Hotel taxis very expensive. It's international ordinary. No problems, but no thrill.
The location is very convenient. The staff were very helpful and accommodating, arranging a trip to Teotihuacan for me within mere minutes after asking, also taxi arrangements via the reception were convenient and quick. The room was elegant and very comfortable, much better than in equivalent hotels in Western countries. Everything was immaculately clean. The atmosphere is rather that of a us hotel. There were two bottles of water in the bathroom (I supposed that they were for brushing teeth) -- it turned out that they were part of the minibar and quite expensive. This could've been better marked. When I arrived at the breakfast room, no one seemed to speak any English or have any clue what they were supposed to do. They gave me a dinner menu and claimed that there was no breakfast. After a while, the chef came out, and in the end, I received a delicious breakfast (though the whole process took almost 1 1/2 hours). The next day I went to the breakfast place next door (Pan y Cocina; which was ok and cheaper).
Very close to the sight seeings. Staff's english is not good. Taxi service is expensive.
It's on a great location! Just around the Conner from the Zocalo. The hotel is nice and clean, very helpful personnel, and right on the center of many historic attractions. Lots of places to eat, shop and have a great time. the only thing that I think might be a problem for some of our older couples is the shower. The tub it's to high.
Nice and quiet. Clean ans spacious rooms.
Location and Service from the Staff Everything was fine. Met my expectations.
The location is very good! The hotel is in centre!
It's close to the plaza, and several city scenic sites. good location. They do not have traveling booking service. breakfast is simple, limited selections, and the taste of food is simple.
Location and easy access from airport, very confortable the restaurant and bar was close before midnight- need to go out so late find restaurant
central klocation, wide rooms, good breakfast no, but they were blocking free wi fi internet access
Despite sending a confirmation email, KAYAK never contacted the hotel, which was booked
Location, walking distance of many great spots Helpful employees Price, hard to find better price Noisy, You can hear everything that goes on Water temp, I wasn't able to get a decent water temp going on any of the four days I stayed over there. Very small My keycard was reset everyday No AC but that is kind of typical No toilet paper first few days Housekeeping threw away my wrapped up snacks (or ate them)
The pluses for this place are obvious: great central location, very cheap. Unfortunately it is oftentimes the only option that fits this bill, depending on availability... Staff was unfriendly and unhelpful, amenities were bare-bones, there were warnings posted everywhere about the 100 rules that if you broke would get you kicked out, the rooms look like bare-bones dorm rooms, there is an official ban on alcohol (not sure how strictly enforced), overall just not a pleasant experience... steer clear if you can afford to...
Location and staff cannot be beaten. Very attentive and cordial. Needs some investment. The linens and towels were very old. Internet connection was horrible. However the location and staff made up for the shortcomings. A little investment in the furniture to include lobby and rooms chairs and beds would go a long way. More attention to pillows and linens could place this property as one of the best in the city.
The architecture is wonderful. The elevator was quite cool! The location was extremely convenient to sight-seeing. The view from the roof-top restaurant was spectacular!!! The staff was extremely accommodating. The room was in need of repair. (e.g. shower soap dish was in pieces, low water pressure, door handle broken.) The Cathedral Metropolitana next door has a clock that chimes on the hour and half-hour. All. Night. Long. Sleep was elusive!! Avoid rooms on the 6th floor since the restaurant is on the 7th floor. They start preparing the room for breakfast quite early so you will be awakened by all of the tables and chairs being dragged about. Some way to control the temperature of the room would have been appreciated.
The overall decor has an authentic feel—not at all like a standardized, cookie-cutter hotel. The buffet at the restaurant is excellent. Being just a few steps from the Zocalo is fantastic, with easy walking access to lots of great sites. And the value is exceptional. My only complaint is that the wake up calls I asked for never came, and taxi van I asked for in advance, and been promised ("no problem") was not arranged. Fortunately, neither of these ruined our experience. We had three rooms, and we all set our own alarms, so the lack of wake up calls (3:45 AM the morning we flew home) didn't screw us up. When I got to the lobby at 4:00 AM, I found both the overnight staff (desk attendant and concierge) asleep on the couches. No van taxi had been ordered. They were able to hurriedly summon two smaller taxis for our group. Otherwise, the staff was both friendly and professional.
The staff was so nice. The location was great. Breakfast overlooking the Plaza Nacional and the food was amazing. Also loved the old architecture, decoration and authentic style of the inside and outside of the hotel. The internet never worked which I needed for my work as a journalist on deadline. The bed was the same as sleeping on a slab of stone and the room had no temperature control, no fan, nor a screen for a window. As I had to work in the lobby to get any sort of internet, I obtained over 31 mosquito bites that are still bothering me.
I was in this hotel 30 years ago. So, just I wanted to stay here again with my family. I enjoyed so much this time with them. Actually we celebrate my daughter's birthday and of course my birthday too. we born the same day on August 15.
Enjoyed the fact that the majority of staff was readily available to assist and they were professional. There was at least one staff member (day receptionist) was unprofessional and was not willing sharing information when I inquire about transportation. He was rather disrespectful.
I liked the location, and the building, though it is DESPERATELY in need of renovation, is historic and unique. The room was a dump - it needs to be completely redone. Uncomfortable beds, no screens on the windows (and I got eaten up by a mosquito in my sleep). The bathroom was disgusting and old. Everything needs to be renovated.
The location was perfect for enjoying downtown Mexico City and the service was amazing! The internet service was very spotty.
Location 2mins walk to subway Free breakfast with view of raising national flag Congested Wifi on 6th floor no pen in the room to leave feedback
The location is perfect for exploring Mexico city. This is a beautiful hotel. The colonial architecture is beautiful to the eye. The view from the balcony of the street life and zocalo was always entertaining. It is a bit loud at night but this is to be expected. Bring ear plugs. The lighting for reading in bed at night is terrible.
Our room had a great view of the zocolo. A little noisy on the zocolo side.
The location, staff, view of the Zocalo and Cathedral were great. It's a gorgeous historical building. Very beautiful architecture. I went back in time. It was like staying in a museum and being allowed to touch all of the artifacts. The view from the terrace was breathtaking and a great value. I would stay there again. Sunday brunch buffet on the terrace overlooking the Zocalo are worth the trip to Mexico City and should be on the "Things to do in Mexico City" list. I expected that a building this old would be somewhat obsolete given today's demanding consumers. But the bed was really stiff and door to the balcony didn't shut well and I was afraid that someone from an adjacent balcony to break in to our room. The painter painted some of the tile edge. Also, the hot water pressure in the tub was very slow. With the exception of the water pressure, I felt that it wouldn't have cost much to have fixed the others. The wi-fi was a bit slow but I expected that the thick walls with years of leaded paint would come in to play. Wi-fi is not a reason not to stay at a historical building.
very clean rooms. weird music dial where music pumps into your room! affordable restaurant and bar. location of our particular room was practically in the lobby. also, their banking system wouldn't work for our cards... So we had to leave early, not wanting to pull out too much cash.
