Good location (close to Old Port, Metro, train station) if you don't have a car and/or come by train. However, if you have a car and/or you don't need/want to stay close to the center of the city you might want to chose another location - if you are there for the beaches, Cassis or La Ciotat would be better locations than Marseilles. Work was getting done in the hotel, possibly to refurbish the rooms - they seriously need that. The noise vas very annoying - started early in the morning so you couldn't sleep late if you wanted to. Also the price was kinda steep for the quality offered, even considering I made the reservation on rather short notice.
Clean, comfortable, nice hotel with good value for money. Even though the location was pretty good the neighberhood was not that nice in the evenings, especially not for woman. Sundays especially everything nearby closed down early, and the only people youl could see in the streets was men.
The room is quite big, there was a kettle, a lot of TV channels Even though the hotel is close to the city center and vieux port, the streets around look rough especially at night (but nothing happend)
Very friendly staff, great breakfast, very nice lobby and very well located, not far from the train station and close to the old city.
very very very very very very very very very very very very very very nice!!!!!
Location 3 blocks to Old Town waterfront. Friendly front desk staff. Good breakfast offering. There were notes appologizing that the hotel was under renovation. A property should not let their room carpets reach the level of wear we experienced. Hotel is definately a Taxi trip to and from the train station.
Only location and nothing! Hotel staff is false. Room ia dirty. Fleas is jumping. Curtains in holes. The Internet is very weak. Conditioners don't work in room. The pastel linen changes once a week. A breakfast poor.
Nice reception. Marble floors & nice decor. Rooms were nowhere near this standard. Unsafe dingy location, the worst was dingy rooms not 3* standard. Advised hotel was fully booked when I requested to change to better room.
location Not much tourism information available in hotel
Good location. We had lovely views over the Vieux Port Decor a little dated now
Good hotel. Very clean. Just in the center of Marseille city. Beautiful view of the Vieux Port.
The concierge was very helpful in helping us find a good 'bouillabaisse' restaurant and making the reservation. Nice and pro
They upgraded us from a city to a harbour view room - really impressive vista and absolutely worthy the extra rate if you are booking. The hotel has retained its original character and we were surprised on the up-side. All was fine
The location was great. Easy access to everywhere and the staff were very helpful.
The location, just next to the Vieux Port, is really amazing. The room was extremely small for the price we paid, without any kind of view (does "courtyard view" means facing a wall and no light at all????) and not very comfortable. Moreover, the staff was quite unfriendly.
Desk staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Room was small but very beautiful. Highly recommend this location.
Location. Great room with view overlooking harbour but with really effective soundproofing. Large, firm bed. Nothing.
Location, excellent room, nice bar area
Efficient, friendly staff Quiet room Fabulous food (room service and breakfast) Bar and breakfast room views Everything we needed including WiFi Had to leave
The location was fantastic. Easy to walk around the port and surrounding area. Lot of choice of restaurants nearby Cost of wi-fi access. In 2008 this really should be free in a good hotel.
Location, fenestration, balconies
Very helpful and welcoming staff. Good location of hotel - right in the old port and beside the metro station.
The location is outstanding, the staff is extremely kind and friendly, and the room was spotless and comfortable. We showed up right when the weather turned bad, and the front desk attendant offered us umbrellas whenever it was raining out. It is a great hotel for a weekend break, as the facilities are great and you can stay without much fuss. Check in and check out is simple, and there are several parking garages, with a hotel discount, located nearby. The room was smaller than we expected, but comfortable.
Very nice hotel in an old building with central location very close to the port and with moderm clean rooms. Affordable price (had a promo of 119 EUR for double with breaskfast). No minibar.
Excellant location Very poor decor, carpets etc
The hotel is clean and comfortable and one could not imagine a better location. Also, we were able to check in at 8 a.m., which came in extremely handy. A little fridge in the room would have been welcome.
Ideal Hotel to discover Marseille
Great location! Right next to the Harbour, opposite the tourist information, real close to metro and bus stops. Free wifi worked well. Bright and clean, bathroom spotless, showerhats provided. More expensive "superior room" was still ridiculously tiny (just enough space for double bed) and so were bathroom and bathtub. Check-in assistant hadn't read through my booking because asked for payment of breakfast although I booked all inclusive and wanted to give my girlfriend and me (female) a room with twin beds altho I had specifically asked for one big bed. Homophobes. Breakfast lady almost denied access to 4 people who arrived at 10h03 and 10h08 instead of 10 sharp - no sense of service whatsoever! After complaint, I was even told that if the buffet is until 10, you do not arrive at, say, 9h50 but before. I wonder: Why not?? 10 is still early for a holiday breakfast. Buffet was ok but not worth 10euros. Try café "a Cup of Tea"!
hotel location it needs renovation
Location, price Tired decor, musty, air con not very efficient
Very good location and helpful staff. Terrible coffee served at breakfast.
Location to railway station Room shabby and in need of upgrade
The hotel was clean, functional and did what it said on the tin. Breakfast expensive for what it was. Corridors could do with a face lift but room comfortable and nice size.
discreet and efficient service. Very good breakfast. Very good location. Friendly and helpful staff. Very good value for money.
The tree in front of the window allowed for some privacy. Bathroom was not very clean.
Close to the railway station. The furniture is old, and seems to be 20 years old.
Convenient location, excellent breakfast Our room was a bit in need of being decorated
Close to the station and city Bedroom was worn, in particular the bed spread that was torn through its sheer longevity, end up sleeping in our sleeping bags for fear of bed bugs etc
Proximity to train station.
one lady at the lounge was very helpful. The room wasn't like in the pictures. Very dark and there wasn't at all enough warm water in the shower.
Proximity to railway station and main street/old port area The cheaper room I booked was more like a comfortable 2.5* room rather than a 3* room, the price being more applicable to a 3* room, but the location compensated for this. Otherwise the hotel and room met expectations.
The room was very large and had a lovely balcony that looked over the dock for all the yachts.the bathroom was clean and large and had a nice hot shower. First impression from the street were not encouraging as it looked very dirty and there was a lot of rubbish in the street but it is a lovely hotel once inside.
we had a very nice, larger room. The desk staff spoke excellent english and upgraded our room and gave us some very fine sightseeing tips.
Yes very good position and comfort
the excellent location and comfortable and relaxed atmosphere
The hotel was very central but quiet. It was very close to transport links, shops and the old port.It was an excellent base for a holiday. Yhere was no A/C in the room.B/fast very expensive.
The hotel is an excellent location on the Old Port right next to a Metro Station. The superior room was spacious and beautifully decorated. The view from the room was magnificent, morning, sunset and evening! The included breakfast offered quite a variety for the traveller. I'd highly recommend this hotel. Some hotel staff were extremely accommodating, especially when we were trying to travel during the strike in France. The night staff person was not very helpful so we did not know our train the next day was cancelled until the morning staff checked for us.
The hotel is fantastic.
we got a nice big room with port view, the hotel has a great location! no parking in the hotel
The croissonts. Room cleaning was not done on `one day and we had to remind staff late in the afternoon.
very friendly staff (1 of the receptionist girl can speak Russian), super excellent location, port nearby, cleanliness of bedroom, many channels on TV (even international), very quiet, creative design in the whole hotel.
Very welcoming and comfortable. Coffee facilities were welcome. It's unusual to have comfortable pillows in a hotel - yous are!
near to port no mini bar, too small lift, no safe box
The friendly people at the desk
Location dark rooms
Sehr sauber. Top Lage. Zimmer relativ klein, aber ausreichend.
The attitude of the staff on the last night of our stay. A 24 hour hotel normally has a 24 hour bar but we were refused service on the last evening by the night porter
It's location was superb and surprisingly quiet. Rooms a bit small and dark, but good bathroom (smelt a bit) and we enjoyed the 3 days we spent there. Good friendly staff. Need to carry bags up to the mezanine level to access the lift (elevator). Bathroom a bit smelly.
Close to te Vieux port, close was parking place (10EUR per day), after checking out was possibility to let baggage at the reception, great people at the reception -
excellent location, just next to the morning fish market, restaurants and shops! very nice and helpfull personnel!
Location, reception open 24h, friendly staff poor internet connection, elevator only from the second floor, room could be renewed.
The facility in general was lovely. The cleanliness of the room was a bit shocking, but in a good way. The staff.
It was so convenient for all the old port activities and for great restaurants and shopping... we fell in love with the place and with each other....
Location... freindly staff... we came back for one night after a few days elsewhere, and they gave us a free upgrade to a superior room which was wonderful. No carpark... but not too much of a hassle as carpark close by
location was good, staff were helpful
Excellent location, very central in a shoppingstreet, good isolation, so no disturbing streetnoise, close to the old harbour and the Place aux Huiles, rue Sainte with many restaurants. Very friendly and helpful staff. Oldfashioned look of the reception area and breakfastroom with hardly any daylight.
The location was excellent, the staff very friendly and professional. The room was spotless as was the bathroom. Appreciated the toiletries provided. Lack of parking, but not that big a problem.
The staff were very helpful. Location was near where I wanted to be. Small room, but it is Europe in a large city. Not very comfortable bed.
Good location and comfortable rooms
responsive staff, exellent location, free wi-fi
Quiet; friendly, convenient Hanger for shower head was broken; lift starts only at floor 1; lift somewhat dirty
The staff is really nice.
Good location - right next to Saint Charles Terminus. Room a good size and shower was hot and pretty good pressure. Was pretty good value given the high demand on the weekend we stayed and because we were sharing the bill. Be very careful about providing your card details as - even though they promise to not charge you before check-in - they put a hold on the funds from my card so I essentially had £53 unavailable to me 2 months before the actual stay. I called and had this taken off and paid in cash up on arrival. Upon returning they have again put two charges onto my card for the room (we already paid for) so I currently have £111 unavailable on my card and they have yet to refund it to me. Check your card!
Easy access from the central train station. Reasonable restaurant in the same building. Simple process at the check-in and check-out. Wireless internet connection. Tissue paper was running out in the room. Easy to hear the sounds/voices from next door.
Nothing except good location as nearby Marseille station. Tiny and alowful room, dirty bed sheet. There is not any cooling systems as air condition although it is 30 degree. Old and dangerous elevator, my room was situated at 3rd floor. However, I could not use the lift, because it was smaller than my luggage and when the lift worked, I felt any vabration as the lift was fallen down. It made me frightened.
The location of the hotel right opposite to the metro/bus station was very convinient. The elevator wasn't working when we stayed at the hotel which was somehow annoying especially that we had to carry our bags all the way to the third floor.
Very close to Saint Charles train station. Breakfast at 6€ quite OK You must be aware that this centrally located hotel is surrounded with hectic traffic most of the time, so the room can be rather noisy, even with windows closed. There is no A/C, but heating, so I would avoid it during summer.
I found it there's not enough space to put it all down.for a start I would suggest to have windows that shut out the negotiations of prositiutes on the street below.....
Excellent loacation. Close to train station and Metro station. Convenient to sightseeing. The lights of toilet are quite dark and there is no lift on the ground floor.
The staff was very kind and helpful. The location of the hotel is perfect: very close to metro station and train station. There are many cafes and restaurants around this hotel. Wi-fi worked excellent. -
Hotel has all the character in the world! Excellent location, spacious rooms. Good if breakfast was included in room price
the TV does not work....
Location. Room was generally good. The pillows were square in shape - awkard shape as most pillows are rectangular in shape. The bathroom shelf was positioned improperly such that it was sloping downwards and your things would slide off and fall into the sink when placed there. The toilet roll holder was positioned such that it was difficult to reach the toilet roll. The bathroom scale provided didn't work.
I only had one blanket and no additional one available in the room. It was quite cold in the night. Plumbery not very efficient. Difficulties to have regular hor water.
Nothing good about St Louis, It is old, cramped, inaccessible with nowhere to park.
The hotel was full of character and had a very sophisticated charm for a small, 3 star hotel. We were extremely impressed by the facilities and extras available in the room, considering its extremely low price, such as a radio with ipod docking, large flatscreen tv, lots of extra blankets and pillows, soap, shower gel etc. The room itself was stylish, big and generously furnished with a wooden four-poster bed and several chairs, chests and tables with ornate finishings, as well as 2 balconies! There was no hot water left by about 9:30am - the only thing to taint a really nice stay.
It had been recently renovated. The staff were friendly and english speaking. Very centrally located. There was no remote control in the room.
The staff were really friendly and the hotel was in a very central location. Room was charming and had a nice balcony with view towards the port. Great value for money. I would stay there again.
location.good breakfast. Shoddy furniture in room. Dirty floor with broken cracked tiles. Bed dirty with previous occupants hair everywhere. Shower hanging off wall. Several lights not working. All these points were reported on our first morning but nothing was fixed. We both suffered serious bites and suspect bed bugs.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Great central location and clean, comfortable rooms. Unfortunately we had no hot water for two days that we were there. However, they did give us a discount and free breakfast to compensate us, before we even asked.
Location was decent and price. Shower drain was clogged, ceiling had signs of water damage, floors were slanted, toilet lid would not stay up, little natural light, uncomfortable bed
It was very central within the town I think there could be tea/coffee facilities. And the food could have been better with more of a selection.
Good location for Vieux Port and access around the city. Beds comfortable. Rooms shabby and need redecoration. Toilet door was broken at the bottom and needed replacing.
WC did not flash!
The balcony and the sight from it. Old furniture in the room.
close to old port and to the train station. also good for metro. tram service due to start soon and looks like there will be a stop very close to hotel.
Everything was ok, clean rooms, good staff, comfortable beds, and the very good location regarding the tourist attractions. It is a rather noisy part of town.
central location N/A
Good location, 250metres from Vieux Port, plenty of bars and restaurants nearby (including an exceptional shellfish restaurant 20metres away). We used this hotel as a base for the Rugby World Cup in Oct 07, for which it was ideal. View it as a basic B&B and you won't be disappointed, but it struggles to justify it's official 3 star rating. Old fashioned bathroom with hand-held shower in the bath, but no shower curtain so bathroom floor gets flooded
My roon was very comfortable, good location near the best shopping area and a five minute walk from the Old Port. Would definitely stay there again
Location is petfect, but don't expect much about service
1.- The receptionist man named Juan Carlos is excellent, he gave us all the information about interesting places in the city and the tips,we appeciate too much it, also the kind and warm way, so we felt safe and happy. 2.- The breakfast was reaaly good, several options as cheeses and bread. The portions are "petite" but it is according to France, everything is petit. 1.-The elevator is really small, if you have more than one lugagge it is imposible to take it. 2.- The shower is really too small, if you are tall and fat, probably it is imposible to take a shower there, and the shower doesn't have any place for soaps or your shampoo, so you have to invent how to have your things inside.
it is easy to get the port, as well as the train station. There are nice staff, free wireless network.
Location, friendliness of the staff, general ambience.
The room was clean, the staff personable and knowledgable and the location was as good as you could get in a city like Marseille. Toilet was too close to the wall.
We found that the staff were very helpful and friendly and the breakfast was good. The room was a little on the small side for 2 larger people such as us and the shower also a very tight fit for the same reason.
Staff was very friendly and helpful. The location is central, room was small but clean, but one can hardly move or turn in the shower (and I am thin...). Also the sound insulation in between the rooms is quite poor, this is a pity. The breakfast is ok but a bit pricey... The small bathroom, mainly the shower, and the poor sound insulation.
Great position, good value for money - although basic. Night Porter had attitude
Cleanliness and value for money
Walking distance to the Eiffel Tower Our room had an odd scent but other than that it did appear to be very clean
the kindness of people working at the hotel something was broken in the badroom
Staff was very helpfull and the location is great. Within 1 minute walk of Le Vieux Port de Marseille. No nois in hotel as double windows. Big bathroom. The room was a bit small.
THe room and bathroom were to small and scruffy
Though i had a reservation and estimated arrival date and time when i arrived the hotel was closed, and i did not have a way to find another hotel at that time of night (sunday 23hrs). I had to rang the door bell for aproximately 35 minutes and this woke up one of the guests, who allowed us to enter the hotel and use the phone to call the hotel itself. We finally got a staff member that came to the hotel to check us in, nice person, big apologies, but the damage was already done. Where have you seen a hotel that closes? Not in America.
the location and the hotel staff
Position/location Size of bath
Perfect location, nice staff, free wi-fi, magnificient breakfast served in the room=)))
The hotel was very central, parking was close by. We refused to have the breakfast on offer as the hotel did not look particularly clean. There was a lot of noise from outside until the early hours, and you needed the window open as the room was so hot
The staff is really gentle, they treat the guests as friends. Me and my wife were really happy to spent some time there. Besides that, the hotel is not as small as some comments on this site, as it had a really nice bathroom and bed. The location is perfect for both, staying in the city as well as taking day trips through the Provence region.
