We could relax in a patio. The staff had hospitality.
The staff was disorganized and dishonest. They strung us along for several hours about attempts to fix the AC in our room only to finally admit there was no AC in the hotel in February (despite being a warm and muggy night) after we confronted them with the fact that every room had its windows open.
The tranquility of the hotel, swimming pool and central location The attitude of the staff and lack of organisation/speed of serving customers
The Cocktail bar was super, the Indian/Thai restaurant was poor and the staff were very inexperienced in that restaurant. The rest of the Hotel was enjoyable. The food was of a poor standard we ate out as a result, which was a pain and an inconvenience, the breakfast was not of the normal hotel standard.
Excellent Spa facility, very helpful staff @ front office, housekeeping & spa. Food @ the Moroccon restaurant was super. The service and food at the Indian Restaurant was of poor quality.
Everything. The location, just metres from the square. The tranquility of the hotel. Superb breakfast. The heated rooftop pool. The four excellant restaurants.Fantastic 5 star hotel. NONE
The hotel is exceptionally well located to the old city attractions and the rooms are generous in size. Service could have been better.
Great location. This is the second time we have stayed at the hotel. We have enjoyed our stay each time. The rooms are excellant, breakfast very good, ample choice from the buffet. Would strongly recommend.
The facilities of the hotel and its surroundings, on one side, and the comfort of the room on the other side. We checked out at 9.30 Pm, upon our arrival from the desert and were told that in the following day it would be possible to extend our stay in the room, until leaving to the AirPort (later in the afternoon), but we would have to confirm it with reception after breakfast. We have done so, but were told that a group was entering and so we had to leave at 12am. They new that beforehand so they could have given us another room... We actually didn't have time to enjoy the hotel at all (and we were on an expensive room, at least among our 5 nights stay in Marrakesh and surroundings)).
Traditional decor but luxurious everything was wonderful
The hotel was like a palace and the room was amazing. The roof top indian restaurant was excellent and the hotel was in the centre so very near to all of the local attractions, perfect location.
Good location - once you have found it, which wasn't easy at 1am with young children, suitcases and no taxi driver to meet us at the airport! Not the best riad we have stayed in the medina (and we have stayed in many!) Loo and bath were broken, and the charming birds nesting over our door left 'presents' all over our bathroom too. Staff were helpful, but management tried to overcharge us for extra beds, having ignored emails from us since reservation on the subject.
Great ambiance at hotel. Great location, close to public square and bazaars. A little daunting going down back alleys to get to hotel but it once was a house. The hotel needs to make sure they tell guests that they accept cash only even if the booking is confirmed by credit card. It's inconvenient to go looking for an ATM a 5am.
Staff were helpful and friendly (although you will need to speak some French!); pool was a must in the heat (45 degrees!) and location was superb. We had the place to ourselves for most of the time and breakfast on the terrace with a view of Katoubia mosque was lovely. Easy to find, clean, spacious and traditional. The air con could have been a bit stronger, we were let down by the pick up at the airport and the credit card machine was broken so we had to pay cash.
Great location (once you find out where it is for the first time...as it is located right at the end of an alley). Just 5 minutes' walk to Jemaa el Fna. Staff went all the way to make our stay pleasant without being intrusive. We ordered room service twice and homemade Moroccan food was excellent each time. Very clean. Lovely views of the mosque from the roof terrace. Manager Nora speaks fluent English, French and Spanish. Would definitely stay there again if we ever go back to Marrakech. Recommended.
Nice staff, clean room Don´t accept credit card. You have to go to a teller machine and walk by scarry streets and alleys with lots of money in hand to pay the hotel.
Picturesque small and tight guest house with terrace, inside patium. 5 minute walk to epicenter (Jamaal el Fna). Prayer calling of Koutoubia mosque loud and clear at 5 AM :) i find this a plus. It was owner's birthday party and they installed a sound system inside the riad, not informing nor caring that there were kids trying to sleep. They simply ignored our requests to lower the sound. It was like trying to sleep inside a discotheque.
very friendly and helpful. lots of info. helps to spaek french
Décor, very friendly staff, breakfast was lovely, room was clean and spacious Not really.
Beautiful, fairytale like Riad. Lovely helpful staff. The evening meal was over priced.
Felt like entering a Oasis everytime we came back to the hotel. Peasfull and relaxing, beautifull decor of the bedroom and outside space.Highly recomended.
It was very peaceful after the city bustle. The decor was pleasant. The one meal we had #was very good.
Clean and cool, a welcome break from the mad rush that is Marrakesh! Staff were friendly and efficient even if the language barrier was a bit of an issue. Privacy is always going to be an issue in a traditional raid and is to be expected however the ground floor room was rather noise with people having breakfast outside the room in the morning. Previous raids I have stayed in never locate bedrooms on the ground floor rooms for this reason. I would stay here again but not in this room!
A peaceful oasis from the wonderful madness trhat is downtown Marrakesh.
Friendly staff, lovely room, and amazing roof top terrace to soak up the sun. Air conditioning in the bedroom The only one thing I will say is the place is not the easiest to find despite the hotel sending us a map prior to arrival! We had to pay a local 20 MAD to show us,
superb service. The riad was a haven from the madness of the souks.Nothing was too much trouble. We had dinner in the riad twice. Our own cook, our own dining room in superb surroundings. At 15 euros we thought the three course meal was on a par to the nearby cafe arab, the only other local place to eat where we could have wine. The wine at dar Balthazar was the same local wine but cheaper. The initial arrival was a little difficult. We would suggest that all guests ignore any local 'porters' and follow the directions on the Dar Balthazar website. When the the taxi drops you off do not let a soul try to pick up your bags..
