I went there for business, so I would have preferred free 24hr internet access.
Location and ambiance The bathroom shower
Beautiful hotel with great staff in good location While we loved this hotel customers who like modern minimilist/ functional designed buildings probably would not.
It is really difficult to find if you arrive by car, clearer instructions required in advance. We also thought that the superior room we had was very small and very dark and the windows overlooked a walkway!
The concierge, Gerard, is a wonderful asset to the hotel. All staff were very friendly [ which is essential ] and efficient. The room is very compact and the mezzanine bedroom very hot and stuffy with inadequate air-conditioning.
The hotel is well located. The large open halls are beautiful. n some ways it is a strange hotel. Is it a spa-hotel? No not really.
The extremely helpful, knowledgeable and pleasant staff. The beautiful public spaces. No listing of available TV channels. No wall bracket for shower, making hands-free use impossible.
Convenient to tourist area and ambience
Service was Exceptional Unreal Restaurant Romantic Great bar and Lounge English a non-issue (if you don't speak French) Very Comfortable Room was a bit small and shower/tub was quirky but to be expected being used to American Hotels.
Location in Vieux Lyon. Hotel does not live up to the expectations raised on the web-site. Our room did not have the level of comfort that one would expect for a four star hotel. Charging 50 euro's for breakfast is expensive.
Interesting room layout, luxury feel and excellent location in the old town. Attentive staff. Nothing comes to mind.
location in the old part of the city with great views, large bathroom, very comfortable bed, free wifi internet access
Absolutely perfect in every way! Fabulous location, overlooking Lyon... Gorgeous pool ond facilities! Will return in a heartbeat!
The location wasv spectacular. The staff were over the top!!!
Wonderfull experience! We will visit again next year!
Excellent location of hotel and general level of service Restaurant over-rated. Quality service but it was a dated approach and the menu and food was not what I would have expected ........ good but very traditional
location the "hamam" is nothing else as a very small steam bath
I stayed in room #1 - that was just great, silent and comfortable. Room has a pretty big terrace.
food and wiew old furniture
The building itself, the staff, the view. all good.
Wonderful location, with great views and very helpful efficient staff. The food is out of this world, but dinner particularly pricey. You don't resent it though because it tastes and looks superb Breakfast costs 24 Euros which is a lot of money. If you want to avoid paying this you have to descend steep steps to find a cafe in the Vieux Vlle.
Charming hotel with friendly, helpful staff. Very clean and the sitting areas are adorable
Terrific experience. Great concept, great location and very pleasant, helpful staff. And I didn't even like going to school!
Free non-alcoholic drinks in the fridge on every floor were a great bonus!
Hotel staff attitude was friendly and helpful. The design was nice and different. Like the idea of complimentary soft drinks, very thoughtful.
Brilliant location. Off street secure parking. Interesting 'school' theme. Friendly staff. An ideal location for discovering Lyon
Great location, walk to everything, public transport just next door (tram), new bar next door by the same owners. Nice terrace garden. I've stayed several times and have to say I was disappointed this time. The hotel is looking dirty and seriously needs a re-paint! Marks and stains everywhere on the walls (most of the rooms are 100% white so very noticable) and there was severe water damage in the bathroom, including peeling paint and mold. No drinks in the frige like the old days. Hotel simply not as nice as it used to be a few years back, feeling run down. Breakfast staff a bit unfriendly, Internet didn't work well, matress could be replaced... Overall too expensive for what you get.
The facilities of the hotel ( location, breakfast, drinks in each level) They are very sympathics too White is a good color for rooms but they need to be constantly very well cleaned
Friendly, helpful staff, funky theme, very white and clean, comfortable beds and large shower.
The location of the hotel was very good. The secure parking excelen.t The theme of the school was a reasonable idea but it was taken to a level where I felt it nterfered with comfort.
Nice staff, great breakfast. Room & bathroom were both very big. Free wi-fi and free sodas & waters. Great loacation, walk to everything. Nice outdoor terrace for relaxing.
location, concept of school rooms, free water and soda and apples
The hotel has a lovely atmosphere, and is in a great location. The bathroom was nice and spacious, and I loved the balcony which stretched over both the bedroom and the bathroom. The fridge on each floor with the complimentary drinks in it was a nice touch. It's a bit overpriced, the bedroom was barely big enough for the 2 of us and our small bags. Our room was not cleaned on our last night, even though the staff were next to our room when we left that day.
The reception and friendliness of the staff and the size of the room and its quietness.
Le Phenix Hotel is well located, just in the older part of Lyon with all the bars, pubs and small restaurants. The rooms are big, well decorated, we had a great view on the river Saone. Breakfast was served in the veranda which was also nice.
Location is perfect, close to old town. The size of room is very good. Breakfast was sufficient. Parking can be a problem thus hotel has a garage at back street.
Good location in Lyon Vieux. Practical garage. Nice spacious room with view on the river. The breakfast could have been better.
Helpful staff Tobacco smell in room. Although non-smoking, there weren't any notices in the room, and there was in fact an ashtray in the bathroom
Quiet room and clean but I would not go so far as to call it deluxe Reception staff were not very knowledgeable about local transportation offers.
A cosy room, quiet, with a view of the river, central location I did not know that there is such a problem with parking in the area. The reception clerk was very not helpful to find a solution (give me an advise where I can park my car), only saying that I had to book parking in advance. I would appreciate if he could direct me somewhere, but the attitude was - "don't bother me, it is your problem".
confort - good bed a better soundproofing because of wooden stairs
Friendly staff, very comfortable, clean room. It was close to the centre of Lyon.
Very helpful staff, spacious and clean room, very convenient place for touring around Our executive room is not lift landing and the bedroom is on the 'upper deck', not satisfactory air conditioned during sleep
the location it needed a bit of updating..the room was the same as last time we stayed 7 years ago...mattress hard, lights not working, tatty blinds.
Good position in the old town surrounded by restaurants, and quiet. The mattress was very old, probaby the same one when I last stayed tehre 15 years ago!
The front desk service was excellent the room was very spacious and the bathroom was well set out. The room we were in was a bit noisy from the street.
We were given one of their best rooms which was extraordinary, large and impressive with antique furniture - matching silk hung walls, curtains and bed spread - modern but eccentric bathroom with good sized bath. The service from a young staff was friendly and efficient. Only part of the building had a lift. If you dont like 55 steps up of various ages dont book the above room!
The hotel had a unique atmosphere which we really enjoyed. The young man on reception was most helpful in sorting out our parking problems. Everything about it felt very special and we really enjoyed our stay, we were sorry it was for only one night.
We had booked an apartment located in an annexe but on arrival were offered an upgrade to a junior suite serviced by a lift for an extra 4 Euros, which represented excellent value given the location. The suite was quite dark as it was painted in a deep shade of rosy red and there was impact damage to walls in both sitting area and the bathroom which suggested a lack of care.
Outstanding location, charming restoration and decoration, the Asian woman in Reception evenings was very efficient and helpful. Maintenance of the facility seems to be an issue, unfortunately. Our room was only superficially clean. The was a loud noise of running water in the toilet. The young man in Reception during the day seemed relatively uninterested, in the noise and just about everything else. The 18euro breakfast is not worth it.
Beautiful, comfortable room each with unique decoration drawing on traditional local skills, excellent location.
Great location, helpful staff, very convenient for exploring the old aspects Lyon. Internet service didn't work at all. Had been down for over one week.
We stayed at an apartment next to the hotel which was reasonably priced, right in the old city center. They have a car park very near the hotel.
Staff was very good
Proximity to the town centre, restaurants, bars and tourist attractions, it was perfect. Breakfast was delightful, and the decor whilst quirky, was quite charming No car parking available
The staff was very friendly and extremely helpful with local interests in Lyon. Good location in vieux Lyon. Nice neighborhood. close to the C3 bus stop from the train station. Our courtyard room was a bit dark and stuffy even if it was quieter than the street rooms. The ceiling fan was a plus. The window opening on to the "courtyard" (more a interior space between walls) meant that it wasn't very private from other rooms also facing the courtyard. Sounds from other rooms carried easily. But the room was comfortable.
Everything was perfect No
Central location, friendly staff, simple but comfortable room It was under renovation but this is inevitable at certain times
were not offered room on lower flors
Friendly hotel staff and good location. Could do with more lighting in the room.
Located in the historical part of the city, authentic ancient place, with the real spirit of the old city No elevator, not very clean old staircases.
The hotel is set in a Renaissance building which is unusual. Very good value for money for a hotel in Lyon and in this area. We were staying on the first floor and it was very noisy. The type of building has an inner courtyard which make any sound echoing. The heating system must be pretty old too as the pipes were banging a good part of the night. Maybe if you stay in the upper floors, there might be less noise.
Clean hotel, friendly, helpful staff and excellent location in the old town. It was exacely as we expected it to be.
