Hotel staff was great! Run down, dirty room with worn furniture, mildew in shower. Not at all up to Sofitel standards
The very courteous and caring concierges at the door on arrival unloading the car, taking care of the luggage diligently and assuring that the car would be parked securley and safely.
Really good in every terms. I am thinking to go there again i the near future
Hotel staff is really excellent. The beds are incredible, never seen something like that. Good location. Nothing.
The nice view of the bar on the 8th floor
There was renovation work in the hotel. We could mot sleep because of the noise .That is why we have stayed only one night instead of 10 nights
Very handy for walking and within the areas of interest and to Gare Perrache (railway station).Sofitel is above average standard and within expectation for a good four star hotel. Hotel bistro was very good indeed. The breakfast view area over the city was excellent however the prepared fruit selection and sometimes quality was not as good as expected though still overall breakfast very good.
Helpful staff Having to pay a €20 supplement for a river - facing view
the room, 716, was under the restaurant, and very very noisy until 1 o clock in the morning.
really pleasant staff and magnificiant lobby. great location for shopping in this nice city. really clean rooms. bedrooms could need a little style refreshment.
Very attent personnel, excellent panaramic view on the city at breakfast and bar. Even at breakfast, i was being served pasteries and coffee without having to stand up...excellent service. no welnesscenter to relax after a busy working day.
Quiet rooms. Helpful staff.
Nice people, very kind. We had a on window that we could open for approx 20 cm. With 3 adults we need some fresh air. Even with airco, fresh air is needed.
Well centered and at walking distance of all interesting venues in Lyon (in particular, the old town). Very friendly and competent hotel staff; you can follow their recommendations regarding places to visit and restaurants.
The location of the hotel was excellent. Less than 1 minute walk from the main shopping promenade. There was the main Metro line only 5 minutes walk away linking the rest of the city. The hotel rooms were a little old and small, however we had a Junior Suite which we found reasonably spacious and was located at the back of the hotel away from the traffic noise. We ate outside for all our meals...including breakfast and this was a perfect hotel for this. Generally the rooms were a little old in style....but they were comfortable
Convenient location in the city center, close to old town, shops and restaurants; comfortable and clean room; very comfortable beds; staff very helpful, solved problem with luggage lock very late at night Parking nearby, but the hotel does not have any special arrangement, so it is quite expensive; rooms need perhaps a little renovation
After a long days drive, the staff was very welcoming. I felt the hotel was in a thriving downtown location as was advertised. Easy parking just one block away.
location is great.
Value for money. Large room, Excellent breakfast, nice location
It's very well located, and all the installations are ok. I found the breakfast somewhat poor (no vegetables at all, not even a tomato, no skim milk) and there were no drinks available: one had to be asking a waiter to serve drinks - while that one seemed to be saving each ml of drink.
Central location and friendly staff. The bed could have been a bit more comfortable.
Cool bedroom are a must, these were good
Location is excellent and gives the possibility to investigate the old Lyon. Hotel is also close to metro
Proximity to the city centre, all shops and sights within easy walking distance. Spacious room. Quiet, room was at the back of the hotel so no nuisance from traffic noise. Not really any negative points except to say some might find the choice at breakfast limited, and might not appreciate to have a room with no view. But then one doesn't go to Lyon to stay in the hotel all day!
excellent central location gave easy walking access to most tourist sites
Location. Good bathroom facilities. Helpful staff. Lift was temperamental. Carpet getting shabby.
The Location, the staff, the room, the price The street is loud at night, so remember earplugs
great location. Perfect for exploring lyon!
We stayed only one night and it was perfect! We loved the location. Parking is 200mts far from the Hotel. Very clean. Quite big rooms. Toilett separated from the shower and sink. Bathroom stuff complete (shampoo, aconditioner etc). The staff speaks english. Stairs carpets a little bit old.
location and a very large bed ,our room was on a corner so we had great views carpet very worn on stairs, and the price of breakfast a bit high.
Nicely decorated and comfortable hotel. Smell of fresh paint. After we checked in at the hotel we were the told that the resteraunt was closed because of a staff shortage. I probably would not have made reservations here if I had known this.
Hotel Chateau Perrache, set in a historic building, offers large rooms with modern bath facilities, easily reachable by train & tram, at the edge of the historic center and shopping areas. We stayed here for the third time in 2010 and enjoyed the friendly staff, good quality breakfast buffet. N/A
Although we booked a twin bed double room and we reminded the receptionist upon our arrival we were still given a double bed room and we had to carry our luggage down and to another room that we were given after our complaint. It was quite frustrating as we were very tired after a long journey. We also didnt particularly like the fact that there was a mouse running behind the reception desk!
Location next to train station - very practical for a short business trip arriving and departing on TGV.
the location and the price great for train travelers and free internet for business user a plus All though the hotel was clean it is really run down for example on the 4th floor the floor I stayed on in the corridor leading to my room there was a broken window with small piece 5cm by 4cm missing nothing dramatic but it seemed to be like that for a while… This hotel definitely needs maintenance.
Convenience. spacious. good services. very supportive staff Due to the complexity of the road system surrounding the Perrache, it is difficult to find the hotel. More directions would be beneficical
very convenient location for public transport access to Lyon and beyond very poor lighting in bedroom
Good location, large room, large bed, kind staff, clean room. Nothing.
The location was such that to walk to the town one had to go through a major station.
Update of the decor to match the hotel
Excellent room accomations. Outstanding decor. Pleasant staf. No.
The staff were helpful beyond expectation. The location is fantastic. We had a corner room and the view from every window was stunning. The decor is very stylish and the hotel has wonderful little rooms to sit and enjoy tea/cpfee or just to read or chat. nothing
The room was beautiful, the bed was incredibly comfy, and the rest of the hotel was lovely too. Staff are very friendly and the location is brilliant - perfect for a city break.
Staff was great and very accomidating Keyed lock to room was difficult to operate for my wife.
We loved the decor in the hotel especially the bar which is spectacular. Although we had booked a superior room we were given the smallest, most out of the way room in the hotel. The attitude of the hotel staff was far from helpful or friendly.
I wonder why for 2 consecutive days, the shampoo and soap were not replaced. I needed to ask them before I can have it.
The hotel is well located and is excellent.
I was supprized that my reservation was canceeled when I arrived, but I maneged to find another one
I stayed at hotel with a friend of mine. I had given my credit card information when I booked a room (16th of Nov.). We were asked to pay at information desk at hotel and my friend paid by her credit card. When I checked my credit card payment I saw that the room rate of 340 Euro was also taken from me. I have written to the hotel and waiting for reply.
Comfortable, welcolming, clean, proximity to great sites and restaurants in Lyon I resent paying extra for wi fi!
freendly people in the reception
The staff are always helpful, this was the reason why I returned to the hotel.
Convenience No parking facilities
Its location (near the train station) and quietness One small issue, I requested for a kettle and cups for tea and it never came.
Very nice, spacious room.
A very pleasant hotel in all respects. Free, secure car parking (limited space) a big bonus. The TV reception on the English channels was not perfect
Central location + Free Parking + Comfort + Welcoming stuff (1) Hotel reserved 100Euro under name of gesthotel 14:00 the day I've arrived there, It was 4 nice hours worryng who is using my VISA. After a week we leave they haven't cancelled the reservation. (2) I've asked for non-smoking room but my room smells, cigarett ends were on balcony, and cork of champaign was found behind the door. I presume I was unlucky. I haven't clamed during the stay. (3) There are 2 wings. My room wasn't in maine one, pass was through the garden, it was heavy rain.
The hotel was very convenient for public transport and when we got the car into your car park it was a great advantage to us. Not able to pre-book a parking space in the hotel car park.
Closeness to Old Town and Metro lines
very convenient location, free parking, helpful staff would have appreciated having continental breakfast, free wi-fi access, and more satellite TV channels
The room was compact, but very clean and very comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful and the location made it very easy to explore Lyon on foot.
The location was excellent
The location was excellent, situated half-way between Place Bellecour and Jacobins, one block from the Soan; and just a short walk to Place Terreaux. The Desk staff were exceptionally helpful. We stayed at the hotel for two weeks and were completely satisfied. (The breakfast was quite nice, but our preference was to go to Cafe des Jacobins each morning, rather than eat at the hotel.) Nothing.
Staff was helpful and it was close to old town.
i liked the hotel place in the city , near to everything and didin't have to take metro or taxi . room should be cleaner
Superb small hotel. Unbeatable location. Charming, willing staff. Nothing!
The suits are very spacious and well-decorated. Nice views from the rooms. Very nice old lift. Someone forgot a jacket in our room and it was also lot of web on balcony.
Very good location for the tourist with easy access shops, rivers etc. Breakfast was disapointing. Although served until 10:30, food wasn't replenished after 09:45. Minor point. Also, due to holidays, there was no bar in the hotel.
Perfect location, excellent view (junior suite, the corner of the building), nice and helpfull personnel (special thanks to Zhanna!) The only thing (but not too importaint!) - when you step on the floor it makes a wooden sound, probably there's an old wood under the carpet.
Hotel person is very kind.
The hotel reception staff and the room were lovely.
Excellent central location
Very charming hotel, in the old French style of the city of lyon, located in the mere center of the city. Very confortable and spacious room. The staff was very welcomed and helpfull with any of uour request.Excellent breakfast in a beautifully decorated room.
Very good location, just in the heart of Lyon. Staff was quite good and professional. This charming Hotel, besides it's an ancient bulding, give us all the comodities needed, with the "french glamour".
Excellent location, friendly staff, good breakfast, very nice room with excellent bed.
Excellent location right in the center of the shopping district, friendly staff, charming decor, excellent breakfast, quiet room, updated bathroom. The bathtub could have been cleaned a bit better, and for some strange reason - perhaps cultural - there was no shower curtain provided, making a shower a rather wet affair.
The bath room is very clean and neat. The shower is comfortable. The TV, none of the channels were shown clearly, no sound even!
Room comfort I was travelling by myself, so I would have thank a bit more of tourist advices from the staff at reception which I asked and I did not received properly. Also the area is ok, but if you arrive late at night and you came alone, and you are a girl it is a bit lonely (not 100% safe) street.
pleasant and helpfull staff, clean rooms and goog breakfast.
Quiet area, clean and with all facilities A bit far to walk to the city centre, better to take the metro
It is near to the railway, tram and bus station.
Location. Lack of car parking.
Air conditioning. English speaking, helpful staff. Short walk to central Lyon. Free WiFi. Street parking outside hotel (pay at machine). Unpleasant area - hookers on the corner of the street.
Friendly staff and easy access to public transport No aircon/fans in the rooms
Very nice bathroom facilities (clean, modern, aesthetic), kind staff, price.
Friendly & accommodating nature of staff. Rooms although small were modern, clean & comfortable. Although relatively close to the city and main attractions if walking it did mean a trek through the main station which was a little univiting at night.
Good for the price, clean, checkin super easy, checkout too. Nice and helpful staff. Nice lounge/bar area. Nice buffet breakfast. Easy access via public transport, ideally in the center of the city. Wifi spotty in the room, works better in lounge/bar area.
The location was great. Within a few hundred metres of the A7 motorway and 10 min walk from the mains shops and central square.. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The breakfast was excellent value for money. Nothing.
The hotel was very comfortable, clean and the staff very friendly. The only downside was the lack of tea, coffee making facilities in the room.
The location is wonderful! Just a couple of blocks from the Perrache train station, and within walking distance to wonderful markets, museums, shopping... so much more. The staff gave recommendations for dinners at small restaurants you might otherwise miss, and they were fabulous eateries, just what Lyons is known for! There was a sitting lounge and a breakfast room that were "quaint" and they were doing major renovations in them as I was leaving. I was very pleased with this little hotel. Great value for the money.
lovely hotel, very comfortable beds, room a nice size, breakfast included in the price. Reception staff very nice and very helpful. Would definetely stay here again. very close to metro station. Not noisy at all! breakfast was on the small size but very typically french
The hotel was close to Lyon Perrache station which makes travelling easy. It is also close to a little outdoor mall area which was good for finding something to eat. The building was under renovation when we stayed but it looks like it is a very nice building and will be quite pretty inside when done. The hotel was fine but the renovations were a little noisy and when we arrived there was no water for a few hours (a bit tricky washing hands/going to the bathroom etc.). It was fine for a short trip since we were mostly out of our room, but I found the lack of notification regarding the renovation a little frustrating, and when I asked about maybe the 6 euro breakfast as compensation the lady at the desk flattly refused. Oh also the bathroom was really awful. Honestly the smallest I have ever seen with the worst shower in the world! Overall the hotel was okay, but I wouldn't stay there again, I didn't like the feel of the place or the lady at the desk that much.
location was walking distance from the center the rooms at 3rd floor poor, small not very clean
The room was pleasant and a great value. Having a light breakfast included in the price was a nice bonus. The staff were all happy to speak English (our French is limited), and were very friendly and helpful. The room was small and a bit cramped. However, we were in Lyon to see the sights and explore the city, so the size of the room was not a problem for us at all.
I was pleased with its proximity to attractions in the area and the ease of nearby local transportation. I found the room comfortable and clean. The exterior appearance could be improved upon.
The staff was very helpfull. They permitted us to use the computer at the front desk to print our boarding passes. Even though our French is poor at best, we were able to communicate easily with them. The location was very convenient - just a few minutes walk to the Perrache train station. The room was suitable only for sleeping. There was no space to sit or move about. We knew this going in and did not expect anything else. This pretty much defines a two star hotel in France.
Convienient location just off autoroute, if passing through. Plenty of places to eat nearby.
It is at a walking distance from the center of the town and near the railway, bus, tram and subway stations. It is on a nice park with a lot of trees. I had a nice view from my window.
It was very cheap and very close to the metro station.
Clean room, very close to SNCF station.
We have asked for quite room during reservation but we get one next to elevator and it was not quite room
nice location, easy access to the main train station, comfortable room, great value
It's a clean & decently spacious room. It can get noisy when the crowd at the bar next door gets rowdy.
location= hot water= clean sheets and towels We were aparty of five and were a;ll put on different floors
The room was so nice. It was the nicest hotel in France I've ever stayed in. It felt so much like home, like I wasn't away or in a hotel.
I think the hotel is in need of redecoration, new carpets, revamp the televison system, improve the speed of the wi fi,( It was so slow I couldn't book my fight home)
The staff were fantastic and their english was very good The walls were paper thin, you hear everything from the surrounding rooms.
good , central location. close to shops, metro, tram and perrache station
Friendly staff ready to help. Central location good value business and leisure hotel for Lyon.
Staff were helpful and took initiative Shower head didn't secure to the wall properly
The location suited my business trip & the breakfast was good. The room was uncomfortably hot & the bed not very comfortable
staff all helpful on directions restaurant recomendations and extra heating etc for room
Location very near to Train station and city centrum There was no hair dryer in the room
spacious rooms staff very helpfull good location near station and shops lift was not working but staff lugged up bags and were very apologetic
The room was big and of excellent quality
Overall very pleasant experience with good location. We did not consider taking the breakfast because it was too expensive.
The staff were very helpful and pleasant. Especially the guy who worked there on my second night's stay. He had excellant English. He provided me with the dial out code I needed to phone home to my country of origin. It is a good location just 5 min walk form Gare de Perrache. Having to remember 4 digit code. An electronic key-card might have been more preferable.
The room was sunny and clean No elevators and I was on the 5th floor, no shampoo in the room, No internet
The comfort of the room Not having a lift
Staff was very kind and helpful. Room was smaller than expected. 2 people cannot share a full size bed. Things you expect to receive (shampoo, soap, etc.) were missing.
I like its location most. no
size of the rooms, secure parking very poor air circulation in the building causing unpleasant smell and poor first impression until you open all the windows in your room and keep them open all the time. Hard to imagine staying there during cold season.
convenient position, friendly staff & cheap room slightly below par on cleanliness
Very friendly and helpful staff.
the toilet are se far from room :)
Good location. The bathroom did not have a door. We were travelling with older children, so it was very uncomfortable. The room was quite shabby, and the door looked like it had been knocked down in the past. The bathroom and the room floor looked unclean probably due to its age. The parking fee of 20 Euros looked a beet steep. Please avoid this hotel if you can.
Friendliness of reception staff. Despite arriving early I was allowed to check in as my room was ready. Breakfast more than sufficient. Location excellent: close to shopping area and my meeting place. Good value for money, I can certainly recommend this hotel to fellow travellers.
The hospitality of services for the price Nothing specific
Position of the hotel. The staff were very helpful and friendly.
Helpful reception desk staff Prostitutes stationed on same street next to hotel during the afternoon
Staff very Friendly
Close to city, easy access to subways etc ...
Location to attractions was excellent very clean and friendly hotel breakfast was lovely easy to find hotel right by a underground train station Rooms were alittle small
Good clean room and good value breakfasts Size of the cups for having coffee etc in our room. Too small
It's extremely well located Rooms are small, breakfast is extra 12 EUR, rooms can be noisy at night, probably not worth the price paid (75 EUR)
The location and rooms of the Hotel They should be considered for late check out for an hour or two
great location, interesting decor (feels like staying at a friends house) price could include parking fee
Good location for sightseeing all things in Lyon. Breakfast was ok, lovely room.
verry nice and good helpfull staff!!!
Great location, in central part of town. The staff was very accommodating. Bed was very uncomfortable due to the bolster pillow, and the bathroom only had a tub, no shower. I now can see why the hotel was moderately priced in a traditionally expensive city.
I dislike the large "International" type establishments and much prefer a local place that has local charm - this certainly fitted that bill .... Large room, No apparent facility to make, or obtain, a tea, coffee or soft drink. Small shower room. The entrance stairs and corridor are not the most welcoming first impression.
We had a wonderful room overlooking the square close to shopping and very centerally located. The room was clean and the staff helpful. I truly can not think of anything
Small, old-fashioned and quiet hotel. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Wireless internet a real plus. Breakfast was also a good value.
The room was spacious and recently re-done, very nice. Location is perfect for a city tour. It is a very fair deal they offer, no complaints
I haven't been in a hotel without air conditioning for a long time. I just assumed every hotel has it. It happened to be in the 90s when we were there, and having no A/C was not cool. There was a fan in the closet though, which helped. The hotel is old and weathered, with stained carpet in the hallways and a rotted bathroom door and mold and dirt here and there. It was fine, but needs some updating. Pretty ood location though. No A/C. Older and dirty. Only one pillow. Nobody at reception when. We arrived around midnight, but they had our key on the desk for us.
Old world charm. brillaint bathroom and shower The parking services offered are in a sister hotel which is over one kilometer from the hotel. Patio room is only unto a very smal courtyard. Next time will book room over place bellecour
