the room, 716, was under the restaurant, and very very noisy until 1 o clock in the morning.
There was renovation work in the hotel. We could mot sleep because of the noise .That is why we have stayed only one night instead of 10 nights
really pleasant staff and magnificiant lobby. great location for shopping in this nice city. really clean rooms. bedrooms could need a little style refreshment.
Very attent personnel, excellent panaramic view on the city at breakfast and bar. Even at breakfast, i was being served pasteries and coffee without having to stand up...excellent service. no welnesscenter to relax after a busy working day.
The very courteous and caring concierges at the door on arrival unloading the car, taking care of the luggage diligently and assuring that the car would be parked securley and safely.
Hotel staff was great! Run down, dirty room with worn furniture, mildew in shower. Not at all up to Sofitel standards
Hotel staff is really excellent. The beds are incredible, never seen something like that. Good location. Nothing.
Very handy for walking and within the areas of interest and to Gare Perrache (railway station).Sofitel is above average standard and within expectation for a good four star hotel. Hotel bistro was very good indeed. The breakfast view area over the city was excellent however the prepared fruit selection and sometimes quality was not as good as expected though still overall breakfast very good.
Helpful staff Having to pay a €20 supplement for a river - facing view
The nice view of the bar on the 8th floor
Really good in every terms. I am thinking to go there again i the near future
Convenient location in the city center, close to old town, shops and restaurants; comfortable and clean room; very comfortable beds; staff very helpful, solved problem with luggage lock very late at night Parking nearby, but the hotel does not have any special arrangement, so it is quite expensive; rooms need perhaps a little renovation
Value for money. Large room, Excellent breakfast, nice location
The location of the hotel was excellent. Less than 1 minute walk from the main shopping promenade. There was the main Metro line only 5 minutes walk away linking the rest of the city. The hotel rooms were a little old and small, however we had a Junior Suite which we found reasonably spacious and was located at the back of the hotel away from the traffic noise. We ate outside for all our meals...including breakfast and this was a perfect hotel for this. Generally the rooms were a little old in style....but they were comfortable
location is great.
After a long days drive, the staff was very welcoming. I felt the hotel was in a thriving downtown location as was advertised. Easy parking just one block away.
Well centered and at walking distance of all interesting venues in Lyon (in particular, the old town). Very friendly and competent hotel staff; you can follow their recommendations regarding places to visit and restaurants.
Quiet rooms. Helpful staff.
It's very well located, and all the installations are ok. I found the breakfast somewhat poor (no vegetables at all, not even a tomato, no skim milk) and there were no drinks available: one had to be asking a waiter to serve drinks - while that one seemed to be saving each ml of drink.
Nice people, very kind. We had a on window that we could open for approx 20 cm. With 3 adults we need some fresh air. Even with airco, fresh air is needed.
Rooms were really luxurious and spotlessly clean. Hotel was in a business complex with lots of nice restaurants and things to do. Breakfast was 20 euros per person - we felt this was excessive so ate breakfast elsewhere. It was outside of the city and although a very nice environment, it could have been anywhere.
Breakfast was superb.Staff very friendly and efficient.Room was very comfortable. No tea/coffee making facilities and no water.Seems to be a thing in France. This hotel is on a busy dual carriageway and is not very well sign posted so is easy to miss.Parking is expensive but the same can be said for most hotels in France.
Location No coffee in room. Breakfast was so - so. Cost for value was Okay
enviroment around Hotel is very Good, it is near Big Green Park ,Congress center and Museum. This Hotel itsself was comfotable, cleanness and its staffs were very kind. Information for internet was not enough good.Internet fee was 10 euro per day. its is expensive. I wish if possible this fee includes into Hotel staying fee.
The hospitality of the staff was just awesome. The lady recommended a restaurant which was reasonable and wonderful taste. I was just impressed by the service level the hotel has. The building and room was also clean and brand new. I really recommend the place. The location was a bit far away from the center of the town but the bus was very convenient so it was not a big problem. There were a lot of shops around the convention center but a bit pricy..
Friendly staff. Modern equipment. Free internet access. Breakfast expensive for quality offered.
The room was excellent and the staff were great. The hotel is situated in a complex used for conferences and other business meetings. There are restaurants nearby and also a small cafe for light meals. The bus into Lyon takes about 15 minutes but runs regularly - the stop is opposite the hotel. Parking is under the complex. Considering its position within the complex, direct access from the carpark would have been nice. Instead you need to come outside for a short walk and this can be an issue in the rain.
Location, comfort, view, value, free wifi Several details were neglected. I have informed the hotel
stayed in this hotel for 3 nights for a business trip. wonderful experience! very friendly and helpful staffs, very clean and confortable. will choose it again in the future.
Location, if you're a runner. It's really close to the Tete d'Or park.
The park of the hotel, the calm all over the hotel despite the fact that the hotel is just in front of the railway station.it was very clean and the staff very kindly.
proximity to lyon & station
Location to the station and the new tram link to the airport. Good transport links also to the old town. The staff let us leave our bags in the store room all day til our departure for the airport. Looks to be smart as you cross over from the station but actually is quite tatty with dangerous crumbling tiles in the brreakfast room. We also didn't like that inter-communicating door to the next room which although locked you can hear everything. Our room door was open on our return from breakfast with all our valubles in sight and yet the cleaner was in another room.
Ideal for a rugby trip - hotel has everything needed for such a visit - good breakfast, comfortable room and helpful friendly staff. We thought that the Manageress was outstanding; hard working, highly efficient in every department, very communicative with guests, and being so stunningly attractive was an added bonus!
Location. Value for money. There was a small spider in the bathroom. The room didn't have a minibar.
The location is very nice and room is clean and neatness。 Reception staff
very good in general
Front office staff kind enough to move us to a larger room and were helpful with other questions. Bed was comfortable. Very dingy hotel. Hallway carpets in need of replacement. Bathroom could use thorough cleaning - there was mold and mildew.
Nearness to Station
location is great, right behind Lyon train station, can be accessed from the back door exit of train station. the room is quiet. i wish the luggage storage room can be more secured. it seemed that anyone could access it. i wish the hotel staff could monitor or have better control of luggage storage room. also, the room carpet looked quite old.
Central location and friendly staff. The bed could have been a bit more comfortable.
Cool bedroom are a must, these were good
Location is excellent and gives the possibility to investigate the old Lyon. Hotel is also close to metro
Location. Good bathroom facilities. Helpful staff. Lift was temperamental. Carpet getting shabby.
location and a very large bed ,our room was on a corner so we had great views carpet very worn on stairs, and the price of breakfast a bit high.
great location. Perfect for exploring lyon!
excellent central location gave easy walking access to most tourist sites
We stayed only one night and it was perfect! We loved the location. Parking is 200mts far from the Hotel. Very clean. Quite big rooms. Toilett separated from the shower and sink. Bathroom stuff complete (shampoo, aconditioner etc). The staff speaks english. Stairs carpets a little bit old.
The Location, the staff, the room, the price The street is loud at night, so remember earplugs
Proximity to the city centre, all shops and sights within easy walking distance. Spacious room. Quiet, room was at the back of the hotel so no nuisance from traffic noise. Not really any negative points except to say some might find the choice at breakfast limited, and might not appreciate to have a room with no view. But then one doesn't go to Lyon to stay in the hotel all day!
The hotel was very central and provided good service for the price paid The area wasa not good but not dreadful
Nice personnell, good locatiom no
At €130 a night this place is an absolute rip-off. It is not much better than a Formule 1. The television set was barely bigger than the one my granddad used to have on the boat. You couldn't have a shower without flooding the entire bath because the shower head was caked in limescale and the curtain below par. Although I was on the fifth floor, there was a lot of noise coming from the street. In short, I would have felt short-changed, had I paid fifty Euros.
Parking and reception were OK The room was dark with no outlook. Aircon was non existent. Hotel not easy to find.
They had a very good breakfast which was included in our price. The staff at the front desk were not all that friendly and helpful.
Reception spoke very good english, lots of facilities to make the stay comfortable, nice location next to the river and it looked an easy walk across into the main city centre (we didn't walk though as we only stayed the night). Would be hard to find without a Sat Nav system (which we had thankfully) and the garage was pretty squeezy to get in and out of, breakfast expensive.
Location Size of rooms.
The price The elevator stops not on the guest floors. You have to go up the steps to your room. Very inconvenient if you have long travel plans and have big suitcases.
Convenient for our purposes The hotel needs a complete refurbishment
Great location with onsite parking. Very central and close to the Rhone.
Nicely decorated and comfortable hotel. Smell of fresh paint. After we checked in at the hotel we were the told that the resteraunt was closed because of a staff shortage. I probably would not have made reservations here if I had known this.
Hotel Chateau Perrache, set in a historic building, offers large rooms with modern bath facilities, easily reachable by train & tram, at the edge of the historic center and shopping areas. We stayed here for the third time in 2010 and enjoyed the friendly staff, good quality breakfast buffet. N/A
Good location, large room, large bed, kind staff, clean room. Nothing.
the location and the price great for train travelers and free internet for business user a plus All though the hotel was clean it is really run down for example on the 4th floor the floor I stayed on in the corridor leading to my room there was a broken window with small piece 5cm by 4cm missing nothing dramatic but it seemed to be like that for a while… This hotel definitely needs maintenance.
very convenient location for public transport access to Lyon and beyond very poor lighting in bedroom
Convenience. spacious. good services. very supportive staff Due to the complexity of the road system surrounding the Perrache, it is difficult to find the hotel. More directions would be beneficical
Although we booked a twin bed double room and we reminded the receptionist upon our arrival we were still given a double bed room and we had to carry our luggage down and to another room that we were given after our complaint. It was quite frustrating as we were very tired after a long journey. We also didnt particularly like the fact that there was a mouse running behind the reception desk!
The location was such that to walk to the town one had to go through a major station.
Location next to train station - very practical for a short business trip arriving and departing on TGV.
Update of the decor to match the hotel
Excellent room accomations. Outstanding decor. Pleasant staf. No.
I was supprized that my reservation was canceeled when I arrived, but I maneged to find another one
I stayed at hotel with a friend of mine. I had given my credit card information when I booked a room (16th of Nov.). We were asked to pay at information desk at hotel and my friend paid by her credit card. When I checked my credit card payment I saw that the room rate of 340 Euro was also taken from me. I have written to the hotel and waiting for reply.
The staff were helpful beyond expectation. The location is fantastic. We had a corner room and the view from every window was stunning. The decor is very stylish and the hotel has wonderful little rooms to sit and enjoy tea/cpfee or just to read or chat. nothing
Staff was great and very accomidating Keyed lock to room was difficult to operate for my wife.
We loved the decor in the hotel especially the bar which is spectacular. Although we had booked a superior room we were given the smallest, most out of the way room in the hotel. The attitude of the hotel staff was far from helpful or friendly.
The hotel is well located and is excellent.
I wonder why for 2 consecutive days, the shampoo and soap were not replaced. I needed to ask them before I can have it.
The room was beautiful, the bed was incredibly comfy, and the rest of the hotel was lovely too. Staff are very friendly and the location is brilliant - perfect for a city break.
Comfortable, welcolming, clean, proximity to great sites and restaurants in Lyon I resent paying extra for wi fi!
The extremely helpful, knowledgeable and pleasant staff. The beautiful public spaces. No listing of available TV channels. No wall bracket for shower, making hands-free use impossible.
Location in Vieux Lyon. Hotel does not live up to the expectations raised on the web-site. Our room did not have the level of comfort that one would expect for a four star hotel. Charging 50 euro's for breakfast is expensive.
I went there for business, so I would have preferred free 24hr internet access.
Beautiful hotel with great staff in good location While we loved this hotel customers who like modern minimilist/ functional designed buildings probably would not.
Service was Exceptional Unreal Restaurant Romantic Great bar and Lounge English a non-issue (if you don't speak French) Very Comfortable Room was a bit small and shower/tub was quirky but to be expected being used to American Hotels.
The hotel is well located. The large open halls are beautiful. n some ways it is a strange hotel. Is it a spa-hotel? No not really.
Interesting room layout, luxury feel and excellent location in the old town. Attentive staff. Nothing comes to mind.
It is really difficult to find if you arrive by car, clearer instructions required in advance. We also thought that the superior room we had was very small and very dark and the windows overlooked a walkway!
Convenient to tourist area and ambience
The concierge, Gerard, is a wonderful asset to the hotel. All staff were very friendly [ which is essential ] and efficient. The room is very compact and the mezzanine bedroom very hot and stuffy with inadequate air-conditioning.
Location and ambiance The bathroom shower
Closeness to Old Town and Metro lines
Central location + Free Parking + Comfort + Welcoming stuff (1) Hotel reserved 100Euro under name of gesthotel 14:00 the day I've arrived there, It was 4 nice hours worryng who is using my VISA. After a week we leave they haven't cancelled the reservation. (2) I've asked for non-smoking room but my room smells, cigarett ends were on balcony, and cork of champaign was found behind the door. I presume I was unlucky. I haven't clamed during the stay. (3) There are 2 wings. My room wasn't in maine one, pass was through the garden, it was heavy rain.
A very pleasant hotel in all respects. Free, secure car parking (limited space) a big bonus. The TV reception on the English channels was not perfect
very convenient location, free parking, helpful staff would have appreciated having continental breakfast, free wi-fi access, and more satellite TV channels
freendly people in the reception
Convenience No parking facilities
Very nice, spacious room.
The hotel was very convenient for public transport and when we got the car into your car park it was a great advantage to us. Not able to pre-book a parking space in the hotel car park.
Its location (near the train station) and quietness One small issue, I requested for a kettle and cups for tea and it never came.
The staff are always helpful, this was the reason why I returned to the hotel.
They must put a curtain in the bathtop, it s very hard to take a shower when the water is spilling on the floor.
This is the worst hotel among hotels I experienced. Especially, service staff is totally mess. I could got just one towel even though we are couple.
The location is perfect. As it near all transportations & shopping center . The bed in the standard double room was too small for two persons.
Location is good; very close to the main transportation facities. Bathroom was very dirty. I didn't have the courage to touch the towels.
being close to the train station Woman at the front desk wasn't very nice, toilet and bathroom could be cleaner.
location... room was ok, staffs are good and responsive... the first room I checked in was not really a non-smoking room (smelled like someone just smoked there) they switched me to another room immediately...
nice staff good service expensive for the quality. we had to change rooms because of odor
We booked Hotel Athena because we needed accommodation as close to the train station as possible. For this purpose the hotel was excellent. The staff were not friendly - we asked whether or not the lady knew of a good place to eat close by and she gave us no advice at all.
Location is good, right next to the Part Dieu railway station. Our room was quiet, a good base for a city break.
Excellent location Breakfeast good prize/performance ratio Kind staff Some renovation might become necessary soon, I.E. to remove some smell of cleasing agents and to avoid I.E. rain damage.
Poor breakfast for 24 euro per person
The room was big, and clean. Nice bathroom also. It isn't close to the city center or places to visit
general efficiency and tranquillity failure to clean room.
brekfast, location cleanliness, time table for sauna
Excellent hotel for the price offered at this time (130 EUR). If prices could stay at this level more often I will use this hotel more often as my allowance for business nights are around this level. I 'm even considering using your conferenses facilities next year for an international user meeting we are organising.
It is located just in front of Big park. The park has zoo & botanical garden, both of them for free! Nice environment for walking & joging. (The location is bit far from city center for sight-seeing, but there is bus to access. ) The drainage of bath-tab was quite slow.
Public transport was easy from this hotel, staff very knowledgable, comfotable rooms and friendly staff and they tried to help striaght away. I had an email advertising the jaccuzzi and sauna and then when we went to use it we didnt have access to the floor to begin then it was out of order which we werent told. our tv was not working when we arrived and we had to have two technicians come to fix it though they did straight away which was nice. then we asked about the city pass and they took 40mins to research it and then said they had run out of the cards. then we went to go to the blue elephant restaurant but were told you needed reservation which they should tell you at the desk when you check in in case you want to do so for another night. Also online it said there was a free shuttle to town but it wasnt free you had to take the bus.room service a bit cold on delivery.
Size of the room and bed type for a European hotel
Everything was positive. We also appreciated the evaluation-questions by the Gen. Mgr. Very recommendable. No complaints at all!
Located a little bit far from the city center. The staff was very kind.
Helpful staff Tobacco smell in room. Although non-smoking, there weren't any notices in the room, and there was in fact an ashtray in the bathroom
Friendly staff, very comfortable, clean room. It was close to the centre of Lyon.
Le Phenix Hotel is well located, just in the older part of Lyon with all the bars, pubs and small restaurants. The rooms are big, well decorated, we had a great view on the river Saone. Breakfast was served in the veranda which was also nice.
A cosy room, quiet, with a view of the river, central location I did not know that there is such a problem with parking in the area. The reception clerk was very not helpful to find a solution (give me an advise where I can park my car), only saying that I had to book parking in advance. I would appreciate if he could direct me somewhere, but the attitude was - "don't bother me, it is your problem".
The reception and friendliness of the staff and the size of the room and its quietness.
confort - good bed a better soundproofing because of wooden stairs
Location is perfect, close to old town. The size of room is very good. Breakfast was sufficient. Parking can be a problem thus hotel has a garage at back street.
Good location in Lyon Vieux. Practical garage. Nice spacious room with view on the river. The breakfast could have been better.
Quiet room and clean but I would not go so far as to call it deluxe Reception staff were not very knowledgeable about local transportation offers.
Very helpful staff, spacious and clean room, very convenient place for touring around Our executive room is not lift landing and the bedroom is on the 'upper deck', not satisfactory air conditioned during sleep
Position in Lyon, pleasant room and staff
Daytime staff very efficient; nighttime crew not intelligent or helpful. Room in good condition except for the bathroom counter top. Location is very good - especially if one is in Lyon on business. Nighttime crew not intelligent or helpful. They had my room registered under my first name so visiting friends couldn't find me! Countertop in bathroom was disintegrating and basically disgusting. Shower excellent, however! Comfortable, large bed.
It was easy to find using our gps and the lobby area was beautiful. The room service was also acceptable. We were given a broken bed to sleep on and when we climbed into bed that evening were too tired to call for changes. When we reported it the next day, there was no compensation or any way to make up for this. Even tho' we put in our request for our car to be brought around and was told that it only took 15 minutes for it to happen, we had to wait for over 40 since there was some mix up. Generally, this was the only disappointment in our entire trip of staying in hotels in Europe.
The hotel room was massive with a huge bed for us. Comfortable and reliable, good location to many great restaurants across the river. Stayed an additional night and room charge was matched...:) Wifi was not working, room service was not of quality.
bathrooms need updating - they look old and worn out
large space clean rooms
Good location near town center, with average price. Breakfast was good and evening staff was helpfull (we arrived late but helped for restaurant, provided iron table as needed...). It is an hotel more appropriate for business trips as not specialy charming and located in a business aera.
Good, polite service, room cleanliness, general freshness. Some cracks around the washbasin.
location. size of bedroom very old furniture and old bathroom
Check in/out procedures were very fast. The smell of cigarettes smoke disturbed me a lot; we weren't able to have a decent sleep because of this, although we booked a non-smoking room.
clean rooms and good location rooms were a bit small but bathroom ok.
Close to the train station and a shopping mall as well as the theatre, the Rhone and the city center, nice small backyard
The room was quiet. The staff at the reception changed to often. There was no continuity in exchange of information. It is also difficult to orient oneself in the hotel, with the different buildings. The staff doesn't take the time to explain the directions properly. And the elevator to the garage is a joke. There should be an written explanation how to use or not use the elevator to the garage.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Very nice room and good value for money over weekend. All was good
Tea and coffee facilities could be provided in room. Room wasn't cleaned on Saturday.
Price of the hotel was reasonable. Close to market Halles.Close to station. Lighting in the room was very dim. Not enough to read. The corridors decoration needs updating. Cost of breakfasst at Euro14 is high. On check out was charged for a drink I did not have from the minibar. Although this charge was removed the receptionist phoned the maid and told me "She confirmed you had a cola". An awkward situation I did not like.
Location was excellent for access to the suburbs where I was visiting friends and also for access to the shopping and centre. Very basic- no lock on the bathroom door, no kettle in room.
the closeness to the shopping area of lyon, plus staff were willing to help no coffee or tea facilities in the room
Minibar was out of order
I recommend this Hotel for someone who want to stay in convenient location in Lyon with reasonable price.
Very convenient to public transportation, and also within a pleasant-walk-distance to the city center. Very quiet and well-appointed room.
The staff were extremely nice, the bedroom was nicely decorated and clean and the bathroom was spacious. Also the breakfast was tasty and the internet worked fine. There was nothing that I didn´t like.
The hotel was well located, High price of the breakfeast.
The hotel is well located, the price is nice for what it offers, rooms are quite big and quite comfortable. The elevator is terribly slow, the parking in the hotel is out of order.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The accommodation was very comfortable and the location was excellent, as it was in easy walking distance of the old city of Lyon. It would have been nice to have had a little bar in the hotel, where one could get a coffee or a drink beyond breakfast times.
The hotel has a very good location, right next to the river, and is modern and comfortable. Ridiculously overpriced breakfast and use of internet in lobby.
The rooms were modern and clean, I had an issue with dry cleaning and they dealt with it professionally The front reception area could be modernized
Location & room
No free parking for clients of hotel
Staff was helpful and it was close to old town.
i liked the hotel place in the city , near to everything and didin't have to take metro or taxi . room should be cleaner
The room was compact, but very clean and very comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful and the location made it very easy to explore Lyon on foot.
The location was excellent, situated half-way between Place Bellecour and Jacobins, one block from the Soan; and just a short walk to Place Terreaux. The Desk staff were exceptionally helpful. We stayed at the hotel for two weeks and were completely satisfied. (The breakfast was quite nice, but our preference was to go to Cafe des Jacobins each morning, rather than eat at the hotel.) Nothing.
The location was excellent
Simply Staff and Spa Renovations on the outside gave a bad 1st impression.
we liked the overall facilities, especially the pool & spa. at the price we paid per night we expected tea / coffee facilities in the room. also the breakfast was expensive at 18 euros per person. if this had been included in the room-rate this hotel would have a much higher rating.
Not much There was suppose to be air conditioning in the rooms, but there was not working a/c. Also, the rooms were dirty and smelled.
The spa is lovely and the staff were really very helpful. Full marks to the staff. Room clean, but it is all a little dated. It is a 15 minute bus ride in to Old Lyon, and the buses are not very frequent (hotel has a timetable). Coming back on the late bus not very pleasant! We didn't take our car, but there are car parking charges (I believe) which seem unjustified given the distance from town.
Facilities particularly the pool/spa Hotel a little dated from the exterior
Good wellness activities with nice and relaxing atmosphere no
Hotel had good breakfasts, although needed to clarify breakfast included. Bar prices on high side - overall staff friendly & spa facilities very good.
The spa the staff is not always available, no card in the room for the room service and just a few meals available on the card I had to ask for at the reception.
I enjoyed the sauna, hot tube and swimming pool to relax. The beds were too firm
Great indoor swimming pool; heated whirl pool area outside can also be used in winter - very special! Limited opening time of pool area at weekends. No minibar in the room, neither tea/coffee maker.
