The location, the staff and the breakfast. Nothing
Staff was very helpful, allowed early check in after long international flight. Breakfast was great. Location was central. Room and lobby were lovely. Nothing not to like.
The location was perfect, staff very friendly and helpful, breakfast was excellent.
Everything at this hotel is to like. From the setting, room furnishings, attention to detail, amenities, breakfast and excellent staff. Couldn't find one fault with this hotel. Would be delighted to find a reason to go back.
The staff was very friendly and useful. The interior design was warm and inviting. Breakfast could have more choices, considering that this is 5-star hotel.
The location, in the heart of Lisbon, is great. You get the worst of the two worlds, old and new. The facilities are old, and oddly for a historical hotel, quite charmless. The rooms are dark, the bedding cheap, and the room furniture straight out of the seventies. Although "run-down" would be an exaggeration, the hotel seriously needs a face lift, a bit more comfort, and some taste in its decorations (throwing sloppily a hodge-podge of old-looking furniture doesn't really do it, nor holding on to carpets that haven't been changed in twenty years.) The amenities are next to non-existent (for example, the hotel does not have a restaurant.) You obviously cannot expect a historical hotel to have the same level of comfort and the same amenities as a modern one. But would it be too much to ask that a five-star try? You pay for five-star and you get a three-star.
The hotel was beautiful and truly monumental and a part of the Portuguese history, opulence and grandeur. Everything about it was magnificeint, from the lobby to the room, to the hotel service and staff. I couldn't have wished for more!
Attentiveness of staff and concierge was most helpful. Very central and close to all sites.
Not the cheapest hotel in Lisbon, but for sure, the best value for money ratio :)... it's really a palace in the centre of Lisbon! Very cosy and very relaxing, luxorius but not opulent... everything is made with very good taste, the staff is very friendly!
The gorgeous interior and old world charm!
Our room was cold
Luxury hotel at good rate
The location and the cleannes of the hotel Would be good if the double bed was not made off two twin beds!!
Quiet, no noise to keep you awake. Good buffet breakfast. Staff were excellent. Small insignificant concerns; Only one pillow each, Fuse box in room 'buzzed' so had to switch off main isolator each night to sleep, Little natural light due to small windows.
Hotel room was very comfortable and the location was convenient for both transportation and sightseeing. The closet was very small. The bathroom could use better air circulation.
Very convenient for the city. Very comfortable and clean. Helpful and friendly staff. Good noise insulation from the street The noise insulation between rooms was poor.
the welcoming staff the bed was not very comfortable
The localisation is very good. The room is nice, comfortable and clean. I was suprised that in 4* hotel any water, tea or coffee is not on disposal in the room, accept minibar.
Excellent location and very good rooms, excellent shower! Breakfast expensive
Location. No car parking facility
Nice rooms, cool design, good location and price
It was nice and peaceful. Close to all amenities
accessibility to public transport, proximity to center of Lisbon
breakfast is great!
Quality comfort and facilities at the hotel Although there were lovely large mirrors on the wardrobes a mirror at the dressing table would have been great.
Location is great and the staff is very friendly.
sight seeing around lisbon was the purpose of the trip. The hotel reception staff were very helpful at providing guidance and advice about what to see, how to get there, etc no real problems but the hotel did not have a bar area in which to have a drink /relax
Good value in a location that is convenient. Some of the rooms can be quite small which is fine if you are staying by yourself or for only one night. The larger rooms are very comfortable
Breakfast was excellent, very close to Metro Minimal Facilities, i.e. pool, gym etc.
The location of the hotel was excellent very close to the bus stop from the airport and a 20 minute downhill walk to centre with a great number of buses back. The staff were excellent and we were given an upgrade. Breakfast was very good with a plentiful selection.
The room was comfortable and well air conditioned The room wasn't very clean when I arrived and the shower was mouldy on the roof.
location bad breakfast, old bed linen and towels
The only good thing about this hotel is the buffet breakfast and it's location and that's it. Good food selection and setting. The breakfast room is huge and very ornate, with high ceilings and nice chandeliers. Management needs to upgrade the level of service, and amenities. The reception staff seem lost in their own world doing their thing, seem disorganized, oblivious of guests around them and lack common courtesy. The bathroom - so tiny and in need of upgrades and serious plumbing repair. The bathtub - so small, literally half-size and very dangerous - very difficult to take a shower. Is this standard in Lisbon? TV is not the flat panel type but small, old tube type.
location very good to get to anywhere in the city
Best place for nightlife. Room equipment must be change with new.
Location was great, room was a great size- nice balcony overlooking square. there was a lot of noise in the square on the Sat night! people singing, shouting etc-- not in the hotel ,of course but right outside.
emplacement en centre ville tres mauvais état de la chambre standard et de la salle de bain
I weas particularly pleased with the excellent location, as regards sites, museums, center city and historical places. Also a great many restaurants to select from.
nothing the room though clean was tiny and smelled. the hotel itself was dated.
Location. Access to San Justin Elevador, Rossio, & Shopping. Safe with key available for small daily fee. Expect Street Noise, Music until 22:00. Very plain hotel, beds hard.
The location was very good.
Very nice room and great price. Also, very convenient to walking, attractions and shopping They were under construction but that was OK...they gave us passes for breakfast at a local cafe. It was perfectly fine
We liked everything during our stay, from our beautiful and colourful room to the delicious breakfast and of course the very helpful staff. Very good location, and, even if on a big square, it is very calm. We'll recommend it to all our friends and will definitly stay there again with pleasure.
Great location, all within walking distance to all tourist attractions. Shops, resturants and bars all beside you.
Central location of the hotel and the helpfulness of the staff.
it was a great location, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. the room we stayed in was 411 and the bathroom had a slopping roof, which was extreemly uncomfortable to get in and out of the shower.
Location can not be better. The S room was confortable for a couple. It was clean and nice furnished. Breakfast was superb. Frontdesk people very helpfull. We'll stay again and recomend it 100%.
The hotel's location is amazing.. Also the modern design of the rooms was very nice and the staff working were really helpful .. I am sure will stay again in this hotel if we go back to Lisbon the size of the rooms, ours was L and we GCC ppl are really used to big sizes, about myself i really hate small places and found category L acceptable and nice.. I do not recommend the S or M rooms.. Also the reception was very small and no enough waiting area but again that is nothing in comparison with the views, employees & rooms...
The breakfast-room and the service! Parking was full and just a short answer that there was still a public-one. No help offered and we were walking with all our stuff on the street.Airconditioning not sufficient. We ware in a 'large' room, what about a 'small'-one????
the location of the hotel and the design the room was new, bright, clean and attractive room was a little small but not a big problem
convenient location, nice room, friendly staff very dark room due to only small window to alley
I can't parise this hotel highly enough. Great staff that are only too happy to assist with anything, fantastic breakfast buffet, close to two metro stations, easy walk down to Rossio or the Elevador up to the Barrio. Rooms are small but have everything you need including cable internet. Wifi in lobby too. Parking in their private garage is 11e per night but that is cheap in comparison to public garages.
professionalism, value for money
The hotel staff was really nice and helpful. No complaints.
The fact that both the room and the bathroom have been extremely clean during our stay positively impressed me and my husband. As I have already pointed out in the form that I filled in at the hotel, I might say that the breakfast could be improved. Not that I did not like it, but as we spent there 9 nights, we had almost the same range of things to eat every morning. Variety would mean a lot.
breakfast until 11:30
Great location for exploring the city on foot, great service and excelent value for money as it is recently renovated. None of the rooms has a great view so if you are planning to spend a long time inside you might want to reconsider.
Staff, room, breakfast and location were all excellent. Would be helpful to have the WiFi access in the room, but it does work well in the lobby area.
The staff was great and always will to help the rooms are a bit small, but the bathrooms are a good size
It was OK. nothing special
Good location 50 meters from Metro Station. Good buffet breakfast. Relaxing bar with well priced choice of snacks
Central location within easy access to public transportation. Room and service are good and consistent with the rating.
Good breakfast, courteous staff, clean, comfortable room...definitely would stay there again on a future trip. They have lousy Internet service asking 5 euros per 24 hours in your room and if you want to use the computer in the lobby area it is even worse. Also you cant log on to PT wireless as an alternative. I suggested to the staff that they could improve in this area but do not think it will happen.
Was a short stay of only 6 hours. Was on a transfer between flights.
Great location (next to the subway station, close to the downtown), very nice restaurant, big and comfortable room. The surrounding of the hotel is not very pleasant in the late afternoon and night, but as it is very close to the subway station it was possible not to walk a long way this street.
We were satisfied with location, cleanity and a very good service.
cleaning of room breakfast
Neat, clean and big room.Good location.Sound proof rooms & nice staff. No enough tables for the breakfast. We needed to wait for an empty table.
location no, nice hotel
A Metro station is very close to the hotel.
Relatively central to Lisbon within a few mins of Metro which is fast and cheap to the city centre - 5/10 mins. Very very clean, well maintained and efficient. Breakfast / Dining room is on the top (9th) floor and so gives great views of Lisbon - great early morning start! Absolutely nothing - was great value for money
Convenient location Was a lower standard than expected from the star rating and description
Nice basic hotel with good connections. Just what I was looking for. Our room windows were to inner court, where some dogs barked quite late in the evening. But, in a city there is always some noice, so this was not that bad.
Continental breakfast, air con view & positioning of our window. Lack of electrical sockets to charge travel essentials ie, camera, mobile & MP3
it has very good location, near the city center, polite and helpful staff, the hotel also provides dinner and lunch, so in the eventing you can eat at the hotel, the hotel dinner room is on the last floor so you can see planes that are landing over the city center and the castle of St. Georgiy during the breakfast. :) The breakfast is rather poor in the hotel, very littel fruits, no hot omelet or sausages.
Wi-Fi internet inside the room! Brocken elevator and very slowly.
View was nice from the restaurant during breakfast.
The location is ok if you have a car or take a taxi, otherwise it is a bit too far away from the city centre. The hotel has its own parking house which is convenient. The front desk staff were helpful, although looked a bit grim. The hotel on the whole is quite shabby. It probably used to be a luxury hotel in the 60-s, but the only thing they've refurbished so far is the reception area. The front desk staff looked a bit grim, but were nevertheless helpful. The rooms were a bit stuffy.
the staff are friendly and the breakfast good the double room is not spacious. it is like single room with double bed
Localisation and price accomodation, poor comfort quality at room
Good place to stay in Portugal. Clean and big rooms. there is no restaurant for dinner. Just breakfast.
Cleaninless and location No
excellent location, room comfort, good value for the money
Great located in Lissabon. Rooms very quiet!
The price was right for the adequate accommodations. Unhelpful staff, small old bathroom but for one night or two max its not bad given the central location. Late at night the homeless and drug dealers co e out though so get back to your room and shutter in before midnight.
The hotel is in the city center. You can reach it by Aerobus from the airport within 20 minutes. The breakfast was a little bit boring at the and of our trip.... bread roll, croissant, butter and jam, corn flakes.....it was a fortune that we found a grocery next to the hotel and in this way we had the possibility to buy some cold meat also.
The location is very great!!!! Next to a super market and good+cheap restaurants. Very comfortable to do city walk, getting into the metro, and to take train to Sintra. I give 100/100 :)
Location was exellent. Room was clean, beds were comfortable. Good supermarket next to the hotel. There sould be a plug point and more light at the hall mirror.
Clean hotel, very central, close to the metro station and to touristic attractions, safe, very good value for money.
The most interesting was hotel location close to Rossio and other city attractions. Extremely poor quality of breakfast.
The location was very central and convenient The street-noise throughout the night was bad. The continental breakfast was extremely poor. The cheapest bread, jam and coffee. I would not rate this hotel three-star.
The location was excellent. We also liked the cleaniness of the spacious room. The Kitchen was also aptly equipped.
Excellent location for city centre and transfers from airport.Fabuloius view from rooftop terrace. Cleanliness of the room; view from window was an alley way and another building.Swimming pool was a bit green!
Location is excellent; the roof terrace is beautiful The swimming pool is very small (about 10 meters), not suitable for swimming; selection at breakfast better resembles to that of a 2* than a 4* hotel
The room was well furnished especially the kitchen. Perfect situation. Fantastic view from the rooftop bar. Staff at check in was very beaurocratic and not welcoming. Check in time is late. Aircon is off in "winter" despite it being 24 C. Therefore one has to open windows at night which is very noisy. Bar overpriced
Excellent location in the heart of Lisboa, beautiful views, nice and helpful Staff
Top floor apartment with balcony and fantastic view over Lisbon (as requested!), good kitchen facilities. Minor leak in toilet waste-pipe, repoted but not actioned.
Excellent location, very clean and comfortable rooms and helpful staff.....if I returned to Lisbon I would go back to this hotel There was nothing I didn't like about the hotel.....all good
Rooftop restaurant & pool plus superb location.
swimming pool staff
That it was close to Metro No internet access unless you had laptop. Late check in
The central position and the excellent dinner recommendation by the reception staff The aircon didn't work and you could not open the window.Bar prices were very high.
location only staff totally demotivated - rumors that the hotel is bankrupt and about to close down (this would explain the attitude of the staff) - the ongoing renovation works noisy and dirty - the broken glass on our balcony - the shower of dirty water when coming out of the main door of the hotel on the way to a dinner -without any apologies form the doorman who did not even warned us - should I stop here?
Position in Lisbon, car parking, room size, view & roof terrace Hard & creaky bed, poor lighting in room, substandard bathroom, cracked tiles, entrance to car park very narrow, no privacy on private terrace, grumpy restaurant staff
Huge room. Friendly staff. Good brreakfast. Central location. A little pricey
Excellent proximity to the city sites. A clock radio would have been helpful.
Very polite and helpful staff, fantastic view from the rooftop bar!
Hotel Location, Extremely Helpful Staff, Efficient Service, Super babysitting Service, Free Upgrade to a better room, The fantastic view of the City of Lisbon Torn & frayed Towels, High prices in the Hotel Bar, Poor lighting in the room.
Hotel with an amazing view. Excellent location For a 4 star hotel has a lot of things needs improvement. Cleaning, basic items are missing, especially the bathroom.
The fantastic location, good breakfast and roof top bar with its spectacular views were the most enjoyable features of the hotel. For a 4 star hotel I thought that the furnishing and general decor was very worn, faded and need of complete upgrading throughout the hotel. There were no hair dryers, shower caps or tea /coffee making faciities in the rooms and this would be expected in a four star hotel. The clean towels often had old makeup stains on them. The bathroom light flickered, the bedside light and desk light were not working on arrival. Its a geat pity that a hotel with such obvious potential is not taken in hand and brought up to a modern 4 star standard.
Nice small hotel in a very central location. Friendly staff and good service. The bar at the top floor has a terrific view.
Good location, spacious room if travelling in a group of 3 No ventilation in room or bathroom
The proximity of all facilities, right in the middle of old city center. Great Place to see and warmth of Portuguese people
The efficiency and helpfullness of the staff. The simple but adequate buffet breakfast. Of course the excellent location I would like grab rails on the bath. I would also like a couple of chairs in the room.
location. in the heart of Lisbon
When in portugal I always stay in this hotel, love the location and prices. The host are very helpfull and speak various languages.
the comfortable bed, the central location disappointing breakfast, too hot shower
The contact with old friends. Weather fantastic.
Only Location Quality, breakfast....
Great location in heart of BAIXA. Easy to get to all parts of city.
the orange juice
Central in the city. Backyard facing room! Very small room.
Habitación horrible sin ac
The location One room did not have a real look through window but only frosted glass
very good location and always helpful staff
Very good location, right in hot spot for food, activities (shopping, restaurantes and night life). Architecture, plazas and museums. No complaints, however be prepared for smallish room. Otherwise great.
the room is next to the lobby so it's a little noisy
Location. Cleanness. Noise.
Great central location in a safe district of the city, helpful staff and well-priced low-season deal.
Location, helpful service and high maintenance standards, including cleanliness and efficiency of plumbing, supply of hot water etc. Lack of tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Bottled water available from vending machine in reception (as were other drinks) but expensive - $1.50 for small bottle of water.
Very central to train and restaurants, very good breakfast facility. Very helpful multilingual staff
it was quiet a small thing but the remote control did not work and they could not fix it.
A nice, simple hotel, on a tree-lined avenue, with an obliging staff. Very close to the metro and bus stops, so access to different parts of the city is facilitated. Not expensive.
Friendly staff. Clean room. Free parking. Good location. No free WiFi in room. Actually only WiFi in restaurant.
Staff was very kind and helpful. Room was too small and too old for the four star hotel
Location, breakfast. People noise after mid night, a few staffs were lack of training to communicate with customers in friendly manner
Good breakfast, silent room Had to pay for Internet
Centrally located, near Metro, friendly helpful staff, clean, comfortable, well appointed. Everything we could ask for.
a nice, clean and friendly hotel in a central location. It is easy to find it by car eventhough Lisbon is a difficult city to drive a car in if you don't know it. I was surprised that I had to pay for the carpark.Last time I stayed at the hotel (october 2006) the parking was free.
The location is very good for walking, catch metro. The receptionist are very kind and give to visitor a very usefull information. For recommendation.
Great location. Great staff. Very nice breakfast
kindliness and amability of the staff the plumbing inst. and A.C. inst
staff and cleanness of the room, breakfast
Central location and good brasserie on top floor of building. Did not sleep very well in this particular hotel. There was a single large down comforter for two instead of the more usual two. They fixed it, after some explaining on second day.
The location was great, the staff very helpfu,l the room very clean Breakfast was not included like it was in every hotel we stayed in Portugal . The parking cost $22 extra. The room had no hair dryer
The hotel staff were very pleasant. They always welcomed you upon entering and leaving and genuinely seemed happy to see you. They helped us with places to eat, getting cabs, and even had a Blackberry charger for me since I brought the wrong charger. The duluxe room we stayed in had a small balcony where we spent some really nice time watching the city go by while we enjoyed a class or port. The hotel restaurant on the roof is a nice touch. Some people complained in other reviews about the rooms being small, but I didn't feel cramped at all. The room included a desk, minibar, and a decent closet with plenty of space as well as a bench.
The staff were I found the all the staff were very helpful especially those on the front desk. The hotel has a great position and thou the kitchen was closed during my stay, there are numinous restaurants near to the hotel.
Good service and the brilliant situation. The seventh floor was closed.
The hotel is very well-placed and design. People are very kind and helpful. The buffet on the 7th floor (with terrace) is very good. Rooms are overlooking the main streets and windows make it silent. It is not a "cheap" hotel, but the quality worth the price paid.
Location is probably the best you can get for downtown Lisbon Staying at the 6th floor you have the trade-off between a no-nonsence terrace allowing for some nice snapshots and the noise from the restaurant, around 1am and 6am.
nice service, polit and patient staff, convenient location and elegant interior decoration
great location and attentive staff.Nice terrace bar and breakfast place. Great location to walk around downton Lisbon. Rooms are nice but on the small size. The hotel public spaces is small, lack of salons, boutiques or restaurant choices.
Excellent location. Very clean hotel. Excellent value for money. Lovely breakfast. Perfect for weekend break. No kettle in room. Room sometimes cold. Can hear some noise from corridors.
Excellent location, nicely styled; great value for the money. Booked a 'superior' room and received a free upgrade to 'Family'. Rooms were small (even the largest); beds uncomfortable. Visited in winter, and the heating did not work for the first night - it was the next day before they fixed it. But, the most annoying part: the wireless internet connection did not work at all. Everytime this was mentioned to the staff, they were very dismissive, and almost rude. They offered the use of the one iMac at the check-in desk, which was not at all practical. It seemed like they knew the internet was not working, and lied about it, while expressing 0 interest in having it fixed. A major negative for an otherwise great stay.
Very modern and hip design, wi-fi in the rooms and a good breakfast. Great central location that wasn't small. The rooms are small (I stayed in a double and felt like I would have been cramped with a second person).
position of hotel is wonderful, transportation is very easty from hotel to anywhere and to hotel. rooms are clean and comfortable. Hotel staff is very helpful. air condition was big problem. management of otel wrote a "sorry note" for it but there was no date on his note. So I don't think air condition problem will be solve soon. Potential customer should be carefull about it. If air condition doesn't work you should open room's window but terrible noise comes from environment. it is not easy to sleep.
Very nice designhotel in the centre of Lisbon, prices are ok, breakfast with famous pasteis de Belem !
The hotel's position was extremely central, but relatively quiet as it was down a side road off one of the main squares. I thought the interior design was fun, and made a refreshing change from the hideous chintz one often gets in this class of hotel. There was a lovely sun terrace on which guests can eat breakfast and all the rooms had Korres toiletries, which is always a bonus! Services were a bit random and didn't work all the time E.G. the lift wasn't working when we arrived, the wi-fi was really weak, the air conditioning was broken and the card machine had to be repaired before we could check out. However it sort of fitted with the 'randomness' of Portugal, was only mildly annoying and didn't spoil the stay.
It was so charming and beautiful and modern in design. I loved it and plan on returning. It was in a great location near everything. My room was very small but that is what I booked. Plus if your on vacation you shouldnt be in your room except to sleep, so it was ok.
Friendly staff and location (very very citycentre) Airco was not working and sleeping with windows open was no option due to noise outside on the streets. The very friendly hotelstaff moved us to another room.
Central location, nice design, friendly stuff, - From 9 days, we had 5 days no internet-connection in the room - ventilation system from the reataurants next door is loud an stinky (when you open the window) - double standard room is small
Hotel is on a very central location (just a few meters from Restauradores Metro Station), which makes it convenient to move around the different neighbourhoods (Baixa, Libertades, Rossio, Bairro Alto, etc) or connect to train stations and airport. The staff was very friendly and willing to assist you on your needs and queries about the city. Because the hotel just opened 3 weeks before my stay, they were still dealing with getting the city permit to use the a/c in the bedrooms. So, I stayed there for 9 nights w/o a/c although the staff provided an electric vent for my use. It made it easier to stand the hot nights in Lisbon.

Great location, friendly staff and nice environment Restaurant menu
Staff were excellent. Friendly and helpful. Location is perfect for Lisbon Rooms not quite up to my expectations.

Very good location, nice furniture, very helpful staff.
Location it's great, very convenient, you can walk to the city Center in less than 10 min, the hotel it's small, but cozy, and very high tech modern, so if you like modern style hotel in a great location, it's your pick. Many restaurants with walking This hotel it's little dark every were, including the room, there are no pool, or spa, gym it's very small, and breakfast could have more choose..

Beautiful hotel. Amazing staff. Clean, quiet room. Comfy bed. Big shower. Metro station right outside. Main train station is a 5 min walk south. In the center of the best neighbourhoods and best sites outside of Belem. Amazing! Can't wait to visit again! The breakfast is absolutely terrible! Do not waste your money! A very short and pleasant walk in either direction (north or south) will lead you to an excellent bakery serving superior coffees/drinks and food at unbelievably low prices.
Absolutely everything Nothing at all
Great price but hotel is definitely not a ***** star Staff on the other hand were deserving of a 5 star rating from the moment we walked in to check out. Yes, I would recommend this hotel if the price were compatible to a 4 star.

The location Yes...way too dark. The walls are painted black and halls are very dark. The bathroom layout is a bit weird with no counter space for makeup/toiletries and no hairdryer in the room.
