We enjoyed the friendly staff and the decor. The hotel restaurant 'Jack's' had nice food with a great view of the horse and carriages passing by. We paidextra fora room with a sea view. The 'view' was largely overated as you could hardly see more than an inch of water between the may houses. Also, the room was very small.
Design Hotel, good location close by the ferry terminal, swimming pool, free telephone call, free wireless, the superior room has a large balcony with sea view, the staff and the manager are friendly and very helpful.
The room is very clean and comfatable.staffs are kind and friendly. The breakfast is not enough for us.we need some more food.like eggs...
The swimming pool was lovely as was the room The staff could have been a bit friendlier e.g. we had a do not disturb sign on our door but the cleaners still knocked and asked us to leave whilst they cleaned the room
Beautiful designhotel. Staff is numerous, very friendly and helpful. If the weather allows, the tasty breakfast is served on the roof terrace. We very much enjoyed the swimming pool, which (in september) was never crowded. The island is enjoyable enough for a few days and the ferries going to and from the city are numerous. If you're thinking of visiting all the tourist sites of Istanbul and sleeping here, be warned that you'll be spending a lot of time on ferries.
Our deluxe room was spacious. The bathroom was fine. Very kind staff, gay friendly. My boyfriend and I were treated very well. The staff offered us some wine on a plate with fruits and chocolate fondue. We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Noise from the street in the night. A dog in the building across the street barking during the night.
Checking out The horrible smell in the bathroom that made its way into the room the 2 twin beds the were pushed together to make one full bed, air conditoner would not work tv was tiny
We really liked the welcoming with a cocktail and the fruits plus chocolate dip brought to our bedroom after we checked in. Staff friendliness is also a plus.
The free fruit platter and helpful staff Small bathroom
Really nice hotel. I recommend it. The staff didn't speak good english, but we understand using sings. They serve breakfast in an attic.
very clean, well lit. airy terrace for breakfast. fresh and ample breakfast. my room was so tiny the bathroom door could open only halfway, as could the door to the little balcony.
Staff was friendly. Hotel was neat and clean. Breakfast area is at the top the floor and at good location Extra small toilet and bathroom. Lot of small of hourse dunk, if you open your windows.
Great location, helpful staff - particulary liked the the chocolate fondue upon arrival! bathroom has a slight smell because of no extractor fan - otherwise a good base for seeing the island
Friendly Staff, Perfect Breakfast in nice terrace, very clean rooms, in total, I recommend it to all! I had a booking problem, though not a gulit of the hotel, maybe that of booking.com. The story was that, I changed my duration of stay after making the resevation, the change of dates were done on the website but the hotel was never informed... better call after any reservation change, to confirm.
We had a great time in the Hotel.Hotel is very clean, centre of the Island and staff is very friendly. We will go back there very soon. Everything is perfect.
Nice and friendly hotel staff. Ideal old fash. bed and breakfast.
We absolutely loved the history of the place and the tastefully decorated rooms with beautifull antiques. The staff was discreed but very helpful when needed.
The hotel building is a beautiful old wood mansion set high in the hill overlooking the twinkling lights of Istanbul in the distance. There is a heated clean pool and even a sauna available. If needed, a nice set meal was available with a good house wine. The room was rather small due to a small shower/toilet room built into one corner of the space. This mean't that there was no room for bedside tables and there was only one reading light (set on a window sill) so 2 people could not read in the room. Initially the towels provided were tiny and we had to request proper ones. Also on one day our room was not made up nor towels changed (it was impossible to dry the towels ourselves each day due to lack of space) until we asked - well into the evening. We think the shower/toilet room may not have been cleaned at all in our 1 week stay. Part of these issues could be language - we spoke no turkish and the staff no english.Owner had very little english too. Not surprising in this part of Turkey!
The biggest advantage of this place is certainly the location. Breath- taking views, peaceful... Overall the hotel is not offering good value for money. The rooms are small, the beds are literally glued together, the 'bathroom' is a section of the room walled off and the shower just hangs on the wall next to the toilet. The walls are (understandably) mouldy. The food is nice, but overpriced compared to the food in the village 5 minutes walk away. None of the staff knows more that 2 words of English. The owner kindly offered us glasses of refreshing spiced yoghurt drinks as we arrived (unsolicited, so we thought it was a free welcome drink), only to discover that on our bill the kind man charged us 4 € per glass, (local price is 0.5€ for this drink)... Clearly he cares more about quick extra profit than about the reputation of his hotel
Loved the welcome when we arrived late at nite and were offered drinks and food. A fireplace was lit up and felt very relaxed and welcome. The room was bit small. However it was clean and comfortable. There was no shower towels and no place to hang them. It will be better if this can be changed on a daily basis. This hotel was very noisy as it was a wooden floor house and we struggled to sleep well during the night.
The building and setting were very nice We had to wheel our bags up a hill to find the hotel, could have got into a horse and carriage but it would cost us about £10 although it was only a 10 minute walk (it would have been nice if someone had met us to show us the way and help with our bags), The hotel looks nice the room was quaint (honeymoon suite) The Hotel sauna and jacuzzi are outside, they were turned off making us feel awkward about asking them to turn them on for us. The hotel knew when we were going and should have had a welcome for us, breakfast was nice but the evening meal was poor. The owner was a nice guy but we got the impression he was lazy and there was no attention to detail in their preparation. In summary the hotel lacks atmosphere and is overpriced
Very friendly and helpful staff, beautiful location and lovely old building. The guitarist who sang whilst we ate a superb dinner als created a very relaxing atmosphere
The owner is a very welcoming and friendly man for whom no request was too much trouble. The staff are very helpful too, although the cook lady was a bit miserable at times. The location, while it is quite difficult to find at first, is very peaceful and once you know where to go, fairly convenient despite the steep climb home - people who are not very fit or good walkers would be advised to steer clear, the climb up the hill needs a bit of puff! The swimming pool is small but very clean and refreshing. The rooms are quite comfortable although a bit stuffy when the weather is hot. The breakfasts are simple but good and the evening meal is very tasty although a tad pricey compared to places in Buyukada town. If you are expecting a "Western" style 'boutique' hotel, then you will be disappointed. In reality this is simply a small, OK value hotel for independent travellers who want a bit of peace and quiet and the luxury of a pool, sauna and jacuzzi (all small but fine as the hotel only appears to have 4 or 5 rooms). Look at it that way and you will be in for a treat; if you expect the Malmaison treatment then you'll be disappointed. Some of the service is slightly 'eccentric', albeit in an endearing way.
Beautiful location in a pine copse on a hill overlooking the harbour and onwards towards Istanbul. Quiet peaceful, witha super pool and helpful staff A little hard to find - a map would help, and a steep hill to climb, but the view and peace were worth the difficulties of the location
Location and staff Very small complaints. We had a double room but only had single sheets on bed. The shower head flys around the shower so floor got soaked all the time. I would like the towels changed once in a four night stay. The hotel staff were delightful though.
