Loved the small lagoon, kiddie pool & water slides, Our suite was clean & spacious with amazing view. Check in was awful-it took over 30 minutes to check in. Huge lines were forming and not really sure why since reservations were already made. Also annoying was the fact that you were given cards to get towels- however they failed to mention that you had to return them otherwise you would have to pay a. $10 per card!!! we usually do express check out just so we don't have to deal with front desk again.
The inclusion of the mandatory and deceptive "resort fee" tainted my entire experience at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. The "resort" amenities offered no additional value to me yet were not optional. What's more, the one "resort" amenity that I did use, wireless Internet, was terrible and unusable; just loading Gmail timed out continuously. I ended up using my phone as a hotspot because it had better throughput. The charge for parking was yet another bait-and-switch and was not included as it is in other hotel's resort fees. As a matter of principle I will not recommend this hotel to others nor stay there myself if Hilton continues this deceptive practice.
Hotel staff, bars, main pool, being right on the beach. I had requested Diamond Head view with the package I bought, and found that I wouldn't get that on arrival BUT the guy that checked us in did find one albeit on a much lower floor but still fantastic view and that made my 50th birthday very special. Drink pricing different in different bars! The resort fee baffles me, no idea what that is actually for. Staff were great and the Pronto Pickle was a life saver after a very full day of sightseeing and touring! Great staff in there too, and we could take hot food to the room with a couple of drinks from the ABC! :o) sitting on the balcony watching the sun go down. Nothing better. Check in seems an incredibly slow process and there's little point to the 2 lines for HH members. However, the staff do not let you leave the check in without ensuring you have every bit of information you could want. All very patient staff. Pricey hotel, resort fees, and parking fees, and beer! However, the cost of cocktails were a welcome surprise! The pools are all in the shade by 5pm, which is such a shame.
Fireworks show. Location on the beach. Access to 4 lovely pools. Array of shops and restaurants. Dated rooms. Decrepit walls/paint fixtures. Missing furniture in my room? Elevators really old.
Everything was great! The beach was beautiful, 5$3 staff, facilities, location was excellent! The pools were overwhelming, crammed with people. Also, the hot tubs always has children playing in them and were unattended, they weren't very relaxing. An "adult only" hot tub or sauna would be an added bonus! We weren't the only couple frustrated by this.
In a pinch because of an ice storm, we had to find a room before our reservation at the Hale Koa started. Hilton was close, so we picked this hotel. So expensive. Perk was we could walk to our hotel the next day. Room was lack luster for a $300 room. And that's all we had really. Super busy and hard to navigate with luggage with all the people swarming around. Waste of money. Breakfast buffet is good but so expensive, and another $35 charge at check out for what? We only stayed one night, and that was one night too long.
Alyssa was very helpful in helping us to switch our rooms and we do appreciate her very much. We started off on the wrong foot from the moment we arrived, having to wait over and hour to check in. Yes it was the weekend of the marathon and we understand that but, for the first 45 minutes they had only 3 people checking in the regular guest and only 3 checking in the Hilton elite. After they put another 3 on each side the line moved much quicker. On top of this we had booked a king bed but when we go to the room it was 2 queens and by this time we didn't want to go back to the front desk and wait even longer. They did end up moving us for our second night, but it's still frustrating when you have to move in the middle of your trip. On top of this the beds aren't what i would expect when i'm paying $375 a night..super hard and could almost feel the spring in one of them....needless to say we won't be wasting our money next time we visit Oahu.
Staff were absolutely wonderful. We even had a bellman refuse a tip and a staff member on break offer to help us. Magnificent and gorgeous property in the heart of everything. This is a very large property with several buildings and can get crowded. It is rather easy to get lost also. Attentive staff and service more than makes up for that. It is a large property with several buildings so it can sometimes feel like a factory. It is also easy to get lost. However top-notch staff make the difference. We did have a misunderstanding about what kind of breakfast we got for a prepaid fee and where it was located. We were told we should get a full breakfast. Vouchers said continental breakfast in one building - staff told us to go to a different restaurant (mistake). Again, staff made everything ok.
Loved it was walking distance to a lot of things. Liked the resort feel. Romantic and family beach. Nice walks on waterfront. So crowded it's hard to get around in car.. Person kept knocking on the wall when we would have tv on past ten( I didn't feel it was up very high since no one could talk and hear tv at same time). Very expensive hotel. But again, you must pay to be on waterfront. Sand was odd on resort by water like it was poured to make a actual beach there.
I liked that the location is close to the water Much needed room renovations are required in addition to better cleanliness. Parking in the hotel which is required if you have a car is way over priced and even more than the price to rent the actual car. Another resort fee is added at the end which covers items such as yoga and do not apply to everyone is applied. Fine a different hotel that would be your best bet
Bathroom had a sliding door and no fan. No privacy.
Wonderful relaxing atmosphere! Nice walking path along the beach, good variety of restaurants, beautiful views & grounds, staff was very nice Main pool is dated, looks 1970s, MAIN COMPLAINT: NO Room Service. What major hotel resort has no room service? I was disappointed. food is pricey. Go to a market & get waters, fruit snacks etc. & save $
We stayed from Friday to Monday and it was the perfect setting for relaxing and being treated well. We spent most of our time on the lanai so that we could soak up the Diamond Head and ocean view. The nightly music at House Without A Key was audible from there as well. We love everything about Halekulani!!!
Breakfast buffet is a little poor considering its cost $30 per person
A beautiful hotel situated right on the ocean. The views of the water and Diamond Head are fantastic, and the proximity to restaurants, shops and other things to do is terrific. If you just want to lounge by the pool, the chairs are very comfortable and the staff incredibly helpful. The service overall is simply out of this world. They can help with any kind of arrangement, from rental cars to running and hiking options. The rooms are beautiful and sitting out on the patio was a great way to end the day. We absolutely loved our stay in paradise!
We can only say wonderful things about the Halakulani Hotel. It is beautiful: from the rooms to the gardens, to the wall-less reception desk, and common areas. The food in the restaurant, The House Without A Key, and room service were superb. From our room it appeared the waves were breaking under the hotel. What a georgeous optical illusion. But...the best part was the people and the service they provided. We were always greeted warmly and our name was always used. Every question was answered. For example, we admired a flower in the garden and asked what was its name at the concierge desk. Flora is certainly not their specialty and they appologized for their ignorance. About an hour later we receive a knock on our door and the anser was delivered in a folder with a 10 page print out on the flower in question. We loved the little gift left for us each night after room service turned down or bed and the welcoming gift when we arrived of the chocolates and fresh fruit. I hav...
Beautiful hotel, excellent location. Would definitely recommend Halekulani for luxury and vip service.
Aloha, We stayed at the Halekulani for a week in January 2009. The service was consistently excellent. Wait staff, bell boys, concierge, maids, room service - every single employee we encountered went way above and beyond to make sure our needs were met, and then some. That said, the hotel rooms and furnishings were something of a disappointment. The decor seemed tired and worn, and even the mid-range rooms were small. On the whole, the hotel interior seemed to have seen better days, and would not compare favorably to hotels on the mainland at less than half the price. Still, the service and the food made up for that deficiency, so we still felt like we got our money's worth. We would absolutely return to the Halekulani, were we to visit Oahu again. However, our next visit to Hawaii will probably be to one of the other islands, simply because the town and its architecture, like the Halekulani's interior, seem to hold on to their glory days of the 60's and 70's, maybe through inerti...
the staff know us by our last names and they are very friendly and professional. Ture aloha spirit. When I asked for hot water the first day, the second day they gave me an electric pot so that I can hot water anytime. Excellent in attending to details and very sensitive to guess' needs. It's pricy, but you will feel like a king staying there. Excellent location but not noisy. The room is spacious and the amenities are top of the class. I even ran into a few movie stars there.
This is an amazing hotel. Georgeous, and classical all at the same time. If you can't afford to stay there, at least stop by and have a cocktail at sunset!
The reviews I've read did not do it sufficient justice.... This Impeccable, immaculate, unique facility with it's extremely extraordinary, phenomenal hosting was superb. I recommend this place to every and any one who wants quality....7 stars and two thumbs up :I)
Great to get away from it all and have the satisfaction of beingm taken care of at all times, moose mcgilicuddy's is a great palse to relax of lewers St.
We stayed for 7 night's this Aug 2009 it was one of the best places we have stayed at .The service is top notch and the people really care about your satisfaction while your there. The buffet in the morning is a can't miss great food and service. We are already planing our return trip in the very near future. We also booked a privite island tour while we were there through the hotel and it was fantastic . We went to places you would not normally see through a regular circle island tour this is one I would recommened to everyone if you can afford it!! Anthony was our driver and he shared the island culture and some hidden places on the island it was great we were out for over 6 hour's and saw the entire island. Be prepaired it is expensive but if you want the best you have to pay for it. Enjoy!!
The bathroom had a bidet! Noise, overpriced, busy, the shops on site staffing was unfriendly, too service food was horrible and they only serve till pm
I liked everything. The room was beautiful, the view was spatscular and the staff was always friendly. I did not plan on all the hotel and parking fees and the front desk was able to work with me by signing me up for the club membership and giving me a military discount. I will deffeintly be coming back and reffering everyone to this Hyatt!
I liked the fact that the view for the room we had was pretty comforting. We were able to see the ocean and close to the other shops. It was walking distance from many restaurants and overall me and my other half had a great time. I didn't like the fact that there wasn't a microwave. However there was an alternative to make hot water using their coffee/tea machine. But that's minor compared to some other hotels we've been in.
Nice and clean modern bathroom Beds were just awful and uncomfortable... Spa was not a high value experience
King size bed, quiet/clean room, n location perfect walking distance yo beach n shops
We liked the location on Kalakaua Ave. across from Waikiki beach and walking distance to restaurants, shops and entertainment. The pool is small for the size of the resort but we had the beach so we made it work for ourselves.
Everything That we had to leave so soon haha
It has pretty nice view and close to beach. I booked the room which has king bed and ocean view. But when I visited hotel there was no room of right that. I heard that my wife and I gotta stay 2 single bed inspite of we were in honey-moon. Staff in hotel told me "We do NOT guarantee the room type whatever I booked the room via Kayak." I claimed 3 times but nothing changed. Finally we spent more money($25 per night) to upgrade king-bed room. I wanna say u guys going to stay this hotel "They do NOT guarantee the room type."
Closeness to the beach When we arrived to our room, the city view was a view of the parking garage, actual a parked car was about 3 feet from our window. It was NOT a city view which I booked. When we called the front desk, we were advised they were completely booked and had no rooms available elsewhere. (We looked online and it did indicate there were rooms available for the night in a better location.) We were told we would be upgraded to a partial ocean view, but not until the next night. Also, there is an additional $30 charge per night for staying at that location, we were not advised of that until we were checking in. We also had to pay an additional $47 per day for valet parking which we also were not advised of until we checked in. The rooms are run down and carpets are old. In the high traffic areas the carpet had creases in spots, enough to cause us to trip. We had a negative encounter with one of your valets, we lost the valet ticket that was on the key, when we returned, they made a big deal of it, told us that we should have kept it on the key ring. Not good customer service especially after charging $47 per day!!!. This is a Marriott Resort and we booked it because of the name and our expectations were not even remotely met... Marriott should evaluate this location, both the desperate need of renovation and some of the customer service. If it's not going to be renovated soon, then charging appropriate hotel/motel rates and advertise appropriately.
Nice location and only steps to beach!! Lots of activities and shops. Bathroom was not properly cleaned on arrival. :(
- proximity to beach - known hotel chain - based on the positive reviews and high price, I thought this would be better; - first time to Honolulu - I thought the location would be better; - move on - there's lots of better choices
Close to beach and multiple shops and dining. Rooms could use microwave
Terrific location, terrific service
I enjoyed checking out of this hotel and telling them how I felt about our stay I liked none of this experience
Location, Bar and restaurants, hotel layout. Parking and resort fee add over $60/day.
I liked that it was in the center of all the action and right by the beach
All of it
The location is acceptable and very close to the beach. Depending on where your room is located you might be impacted by the pool activity and noise. I didn't like the fact that you get a room rate online, but when you arrive there are extra fees (Resort Fee $30.00 a day, and if you valet park a vehicle, it is $37.00 a day). The fees are not necessarily hidden, they are just not posted on the daily rate schedule. You find out when you are checking in. I have stayed in Honolulu many times and these fees are normal for most of the hotels. Hence, it would be better to show all of the rates and fees that are associated with your stay, so that you can make an intelligent choice in your selection of a hotel,
The hotel is great. It is clean with a friendly staff and located very conveniently. My only complaint and my warning for folks booking here would be that the price is definitely not what you see. I booked my rooms on Kayak and paid in full at booking. When I got to the hotel I was told that there was a $30/ day + tax charge for staying in the hotel. To self park in the hotel parking garage is $35/day or you can valet park for $37/day. The additional $65+/day adds up quickly. Just a heads up. Otherwise the hotel was lovely.
Perfect facility for people who do not want to stay in Waikiki
Kahala is located close enough to the city action yet far enough away where it's remote. Though the pool area was relatively small, it was never crowed. The dolphin lagoon and sea turtle exhibit was quite amazing. Beach was also gorgeous and calm. No complaints about the Kahala. Would definitely visit again. Wish there was good snorkeling right around there but that's asking for too much!!
Great hotel when traveling with kids. I could eat breakfast and keep an eye on them as they were making sand castles. No beach on Waikiki would be this safe for kids as they're too crowded. The mattress was just awful!
Private beach means it is never overcrowded. Friendly, professional staff. Dolphin Lagoon a must experience for kids. Big, comfortable room with comfortable bed, nice bath amenities. All toilets have a bidet, which is a nice surprise. Beautiful grounds and atmosphere. Above average humidity for this time of year. We were told it was due to the El Nino from winter. Small pool (and number of chaise lounges) that can get crowded quickly. Food from the Seaside Grill and Plumeria is overpriced and okay, at best. Drinks overpriced, but tastes great.
No doubt, the best place to stay around the Diamond Head; dolphins living just next to the swimming pool being one of the unique "staffs" of the stay.
The dolphin experience! Shopping! Need more buses to shops
It was an amazing holiday, the staff were so friendly & welcoming. The room well laid out & everything extemely comfortable. The restaurants we tried were exceptional.
The staff and growns are amazing The dolidpin and turtle tanks, way to small for them to live
Everything was first class, from check in to check out. Very nice to have the complimentary Beach Club. It's a no hassle, take care of guest resort. Once inside and on beach, you do not know the hustle and bustle of Waikiki exists
Pretty much Everything! Pool and beach seating was very limited
Great location with great views. iPad in the the room was a cool touch Considering the cost of getting a room at Moana Surf, I expected the room facilities could be upgraded (ie...shower and other parts of bathroom
The staff were incredible and helped so much. Our flight was leaving late at night and they let us use a hospitality room to shower and get cleaned up before we left for the air port. The staff at the restaurants on property were fantastic, epically Omar at The Beach House. It's a quiet gem in crazy Waikiki. Nothing.
The pool is very small, opens late and closes early. The beach umbrellas $50 a day and also close too early. One or the other should be open at least till sunset.
I loved it all. Room was comfortable. Great location. Beautiful hotel.
Location was amazing. Staff were very friendly! Pool is not the nicest.
From the moment I walked in the door, I fell in love with the old beach vibe. The understated luxury just oozed from the place. The staff was amazing and always attentive to our needs from dinner plans at check in, offering a hospitality suite after check out because we had a late flight. Truly amazing experience and 100% worth the price tag!
The food was excellent The bed was very comfortable The room was very clean The front desk staff were on top of it The room was over-priced for its size and location/view The hostess at the restaurant told us we had to wait 30 min for lunch sitting but didn't tell us we should have made a reservation so when we lined up at noon she told us we'd have to wait another 30 min Too much furniture in my hallway. Not elegant
The location and retention of the old architectural features in the lobby. The rooms were average at best for a Westin. Everything was a bit dated.
Everything! Especially the Beach/Waterfront! It was walking distance from the hotel and EVEYTHING else...Love it. I booked this trip as a father's day present for my husband and to celebrate our 31st wedding anniversary...loved everything! No much....
The view was amazing.
The updated room was very nice. We stayed on the 37th floor and we had a fabulous view of Diamond Head and the beach. The beach is literally right in front of the hotel. The location is great. It is within walking distance of everything you need. This hotel is a great value for the price. Overall, I would definitely stay here again. The lobby needs to be updated. It was clean but the decor looked like it was from the 80's. They need to update it like the rooms. The elevators were a bit of a hassle. There were 4 of them and one was not working. The ones that were working seemed to have a mind of their own at times.
I booked this room for my elderly parents for their first vacation in Hawaii. Paid for a partial ocean view room, and got only a slice of ocean. They were given the worst room possible in that category. AC unit outside room was extremely loud which made their sleep miserable. I feel sorry for them and regret booking this hotel. But the damage was done.
For the money not a nice hotel room. I would not consider it a 3 star hotel, more like a 2.
It was so close to the beech and shops
Love every second of my stay. The staff was very accommodating. Whether you're a visitor from another state or country, they treated every guest equally. And we were visiting from another island. My favorite was the huge Aquarium and the swimming Mermaid.
Location! Great view and clean Outdated decor is easily overlooked for a clean low priced room
When you go to Wikipedia and look up Waikiki, there is a picture of THIS hotel! If you book an Ocean-front room on a higher floor in the Eastern-most tower, you'll have the classic view most can only dream of from your balcony or even inside the room. Besides the obvious beach across the street, within a few blocks walk, you'll find dozens of restaurants and high-end shops, as well as the Honolulu bus transit line. Timely response to the only need we presented was commendable. Wifi worked well, also. Room service neglected to replace the coffee pod on one of the days the room was cleaned. We didn't notice until the following morning when it was time to make coffee. When visiting the fitness room, one of the two elliptical trainers had a broken display. This made it impossible to use in any mode other than manual.
I liked the location of the hotel and the area around it. There was a lot of people staying whhich even though it had multiple elevators it took a long time to get from floor 1 to 31.
I love the location ...so close to everything ! The fact that the outside air con unit was just below us &!it was VERY noisy ! The fact that as a paying guest at the hotel, we couldn't book a table at dinner time in DUKES ! Also upset that there is no longer the 'all you can eat' buffet in the evenings!
Everyone on the staff is super helpful and friendly. The rooms are immaculate and the view is amazing With the Renovation Discount it was about Half price maybe even less than half and absolutely an great value Nothing
Close to everything in Waikiki but not in the midst of the resorts Dirty stain/spot on floor in bathroom next to tub was there every day even after cleaning. All else was nice.
The hotel was under renovation but the staff was so amazing. It totally made our stay. Will surely stay in the future.
The spa is awesome. We spent 2 nights here, it doesn't worth the money. The hotel in Wakiki is generally expensive, but if you want a 4 star experience, choose hotels like Sheraton or Westin. Need to pay extra for wifi, parking, even water after first night. The room is quite small for a 4 star standard.
Out of waikiki, room views
It is a fantastic facility. I enjoyed my stay Nothing I didn't like
The hotel is nice. The views are pretty. The staff were courteous and helpful. It's clean. The location downtown is close to most everything. It's not on the beach, which isn't a deal breaker, but I wasn't feeling the "Hawaiian vibe". It just wasn't there. Everything closes super early, even the hotel bar and it's all sub par, nothing too fabulous. I guess the word I could use that would fit this hotel is generic. It's not holiday inn generic, but it's definitely not worth the price, the parking fees, or the resort fee. I didn't feel like I really fit in too well either. If you're a tourist to Hawaii and you'll barely spend time at the hotel, this is the one if you're willing to pay the price. I also didn't feel like I fit in here. If you're coming from Japan though, you'll fit right in.
Whenever we asked for service, (maintenance, engineer, housekeeping), they came within 5 minutes.
front desk staff, courteous professional bar staff, main lobby friendly helpful
Staff is super friendly. Suites are roomy and having separate living room is convenient when partner wants to rest. Market street shopping and numerous restaurants are right out the door of hotel. Beach and other resorts are across the street. We have stayed here six times and will return again.
Courtesy room to be used after you check out (30 minutes on a first come first serve basis). Large and comfortable room. Service from Staff was outstanding. Daily parking fee, breakfast was just OK. Slow and small elevators.
Its location was excellent - easy walking distance to key city attractions
Great location. Friendly staff. The hotel could use a little "updating" - but great value for money.
Excellent staff and a great view over looking the beach and Diamond Head I would like laundry facilites available to do your own laundry.
I really enjoyed the peaceful and quiet location, Its the last hotel on the main drag, right next to the zoo and open grassy spaces that feel a bit more removed from the hustle and bustle of the area. I also really enjoyed the morning yoga sessions - what a great way to start the day! Parking is expensive. Next time I think I'll taxi or Uber from the airport.
Location Paying for Parking, not enough drawers in the rooms for clothes. Bathroom too small
Unbeatable location in Waikiki. Our room had a great view of both Diamond Head and the beach. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The bed was comfortable. Best shower head ever! No use of the pool after 6 p.m. is a ridiculous policy.
Great location, close to lots of activities like the zoo, aquarium and beach. Staff was very helpful and accommodating to our needs and although it was a short visit, staff remembered me by name.
Comfortable beds. Great view and right across from beach. Staff was friendly and accomodating. Could use thicker pillows though.
Friendly staff, great location. Lacks a fitness center and the pillows and towels were standard.
the beds were very comfortable; the staff was extremely courteous and helpful; good wireless internet connection; also, we really enjoyed lulu's restaurant, and having the convenience store right in the hotel. nothing.
The Hotel is in the heart of the most live area of Honolulu and its beach is a safe family beach
Great location, budget accomadation. Restaurant very handy and food great. Poor facilities.
very good staff
Liked the location, the staff, the room itself, the laundry, the media room and the zen garden. Everyone super nice and good humored. Security is good. Plus on the one day it rained hard, there were board and card games available at the desk. Wahoo! I'd definitely stay there again. Elevators are torn up and the apartments next door run down so initial impression was concern that the room would be too but thankfully it wasn't. Concierge was nice but didn't read guest well or represent correctly what the gently insisted upon "update for owners" was - which was another timeshare presentation. Only truly negative feeling about the whole stay was feeling dogged by concierge desk about it. However, I went and it was fine.
Beautiful location The door to the bathroom would not lock, but that was bareable; Also it took the door to the room a little to long to close. You had to stand there a couple minutes to make sure the door to your room was secured.
We found the staff very friendly and helpful and the location was quiet and within easy reach of everything.
Nice room, nice staff very clean and updated. Pool was too small, there wasnt a bar in the hotel. The parking costed 30 dollars extra. Location is kind of out of the way
The staff was exceptional. Good location, you can walk to anywhere. The resort even has a room that you can shower up at and supplied with shampoo etc. The washer and dryers weren't always all working.
Seemed to be going through process of converting from/to timeshare arrangement. Seemed to be going through process of converting from/to timeshare arrangement. This didn't effect service but I was always wary that someone was going to hit me up with a sales pitch. They sprayed the rooms with insecticide for cockroaches.
Clean, comfortable and affordable room in Waikiki. Although they were renovating the hotel, I was never aware of any noise.
Very good location, clean and best value money
The location was great. Basically anything you want to get to in Waikiki is within a 20 min walk. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable. The staff were very attentive and helpful. They try to push a time share or some sort of thing on you. We didn't go to the presentation but we are on our honeymoon and no I don't want to take a morning to sit with you and listen to how I should buy a room at the Wyndham. Could have used more sitting space in the room and the balcony was small.
Extreme kindness of people and careful for customers
The staff were friendly, helpful and courteous, especially reception staff. The breakfasts (at $8.95 each) were satisfactory value for money though were a bit the 'same' each day. Location of hotel was very good ... a quiet street not far from Waikiki shopping and beaches and an easy walk to the Ala Moana Center. The hotel apologised for ongoing renovations but, frankly, they had little impact on day-to-day operations and the noise level was minimal. The room rate was very good and, together with the factors already mentioned, if the hotel maintains these standards, I will definitely stay there again.
the location, the reception desk, bell boy(answer lot of quistion, guid),room breakfast is not fitted for all nationalty(we are from israel), its especialy for asin people
Location Front desk staff were unorganized and rude. Room we bioked was not ready and wecwere given the run around
The grounds were stunning and made you feel you were in Paradise, unfortunately our room was tiny and only had 2 small windows so felt quite dark and dingy. We had booked a king bed but got given 2 doubles, when we tried later in stay to change or upgrade was told not possible as both Grand Vacations and Hotel fully booked out, saying that it did not seem crowded, was always able to get pool loungers and restaurants not busy
Many type of restaurant, pool and shop. If possible, more smoking space would be appreciated.
Customer Service and plenty of amenities for kids. We stayed at Kalia tower and it was very pleasant to go in and out. No floating tubes allowed in the pool.
I was pleasantly surprised with the suite. I knew it was Hilton and would live up to its name, but I never expected the size and beauty of what we got. There were 5 of us so we needed space. So I opted not to take the standard hotel route and go with a suite. It was more than that. It was an apartment! 2 full bedrooms, two baths, a spacious living room, dining room, and a full kitchen. There was also free laundry room nearby. All was a part of a huge vacation complex right on the beach with multiple pools. Close to most amenities our adult children wre able to entertain themselves without needing to use the rental car. The hotel staff were very nice. The only complaint wad was there was something that kept biting my daughter and we narrowed it down to the room. Even though they did come change the sheéts, she was still getting bit each day. Other than offer their condolences they did not admit fault, nor any compensation to amend for the problem. We didn't press the issu...
Location was great. Close to everything. Valet parking was slow. I paid for it , but could have self parked faster. The Valet scanner to call for your vehicle never worked and only seemed like one valet working at any given time. Calling down to preorder valet service did not work either.
The location is awesome, close to the beach, close to shops, entertainment etc.
The Accommodation Knowing we had five in the room there was not any blankets or sheets for the extra bed
I enjoyed the atmosphere of the hotel! With the splendid room and quiet location, the hotel was as enjoyable as the destination!
The location and the view was good. no cork screw in the room; you need to go to front desk to get you wine opened and Starbucks closed super early.
The room space and the fact it had a kitchen.Staff was friendly. Grounds were clean and beautiful. Walking distance to shopping and Waikiki. Construction next door, noisy. Remodel of one elevator made it a horrible wait each time you needed one!
Booked a studio and was appalled upon arrival. For the excessive amount of money charged for what is a Hilton Grand Vacation property, I walked into a tiny room comparative to a Days Inn room, with no view, dark, dismal, with no balcony. I immediately called to reception to express my concerns and at first they weren't going to do anything. But I insisted and got upgraded to a better room, a one bedroom. It was in the tower next door, the Grand Waikikian, a 'luxury' property. The one bedroom suite was very nice. It had a full kitchen, two bedded bedroom, a big tub, walk-in shower, nice bathroom and a view of a busy intersection and other buildings from its balcony, which I never used, due to the view. Hey, it was an improvement over the studio. The Hilton property is huge, consisting of many buildings, a variety of pools, a shopping mall, and lots and lots of people arriving in busses. If you are looking for a quiet bit of luxury, DO NOT stay here. You will be miserable. But if you li...
During our five night stay at the Aston Waikiki Sunset hotel, the service we experienced was extremely disappointing. We had several issues with the room, the service and the staff. We even had to wait over two hours for our room to be 'finished' so that we could check in. The hotel and room were clean, but there was construction going on a week ahead of schedule. When we booked our room, we were not warned. We were also not warned when we checked in. Had we been informed we would not have stayed here. The noise from the construction was unbearable. It was so loud at times that we could not maintain a conversation. We were not in our room much, but when we were the noise was horrible. When I spoke with the front desk they were semi rude about the situation. The gentleman I spoke with asked me 'what do you want me to do about it?' - Really?!?!? We also found a cockroach on our kitchen floor. When I called the desk about it, the gentleman said that they are common in Hawaii and there wa...
The location is great, easy to get to everything. The full kitchen and large living area were appreciated, as it gave us plenty of space and made it easy to have breakfast in the room each day. The king bed was very comfortable. However, the sofa bed was terrible, as was the roll-away we called for to replace it. A minor problem was the lack of an exhaust fan in the bathroom, which meant leaving the window open. The major problem we had was with the actual room door. It didn't close properly. We had to pull/push it forcefully to make sure it closed. One day, we returned to the room to find that the door hadn't been closed by housekeeping. Nothing was taken or damaged, but it was unnerving. It probably had only been like that for a short time, as housekeeping didn't clean the room until nearly 5 pm -- very late. Overall, we'd stay here again, as the space and location were excellent for the money.
We were situated on the 31st floor and it is a nice view looking at the water. The hotel is about 3 minutes walk from the beach (2.5 long blocks). The room was everything as described, clean, newish looking, free wifi... Maid service came everyday to spot clean and make the beds. There is a $15/day amenity fee charged at checkout and they do have garage parking for $15/day which I paid on checkout. AC worked great but hardly ever needed it for May weather. There is no restaurant on the premises but we found other places close by to eat and ABC stores were all over to buy groceries for snacks and what nots. Safeway and Walmart were not too far away to buy other stuff. Overall I enjoyed my stay here. The only way to make it better in my eyes would be to have the same type of room across from the beach and free parking, but that would be another Aston property... :-)
We stayed for a week in June 2013. We had a great vacation at Waikiki, but will not recommend this hotel or ever stay here again. This hotel is definitely family friendly, but our biggest issue is that is was not that clean and front desk staff was generally rude and not helpful. New carpet was definitely needed. My son walked around barefoot in the room for a few hours, and his foot was black just from that. The room smelled musty when we immediately walked in. The smell was there the whole week. Housekeeping staff was clearly under pressure to get as much done as possible, 'cleaning a room' was about a 10 minute process which is shocking considering it is a two bedroom 'suite' with a kitchenette. (The bedrooms are super small). Second, we had issues with the front desk staff from the beginning. When checking in, they had mixed up our reservations with another party with a similar last name. We were working through it the issue and it wasn't a big deal, however, the front desk...
The first appearance seemed horrible because we arrived at night and not have good lighting in the lobby and decor and carpets that need refurbishing. But the conclusion is that this very well located three blocks from the beach, the price relative to what you offer is very good. the reception and cleaning staff are excellent, very friendly. In the 6th floor has a shared pool, wifi in the room because it's just cable internet and I could not connect at any time, so we had to go to the 6th floor. on the 5th floor there is a market that sells all variety of things to eat and also rent equipment for snorkeling. The room is very comfortable, more if you go with the family because you have a double room with king bed but the mattress Staba not very good, a sofa bed in the living room and fully equipped kitchen. On each floor there is a disposition washes clothes washers and dryers coin operated. Paying or $ 10 per day resort fee you got the fee, which are growing in many hotels and you bene...
Clean hotel with full kitchen and a living room area and a sofa bed, perfect for small families. The bedroom and living room are divided for extra privacy. Three blocks from the famous Waikiki Beach.
This was our first trip to Honolulu, and we got an INSANE deal on the hotel room. We had a one-bedroom suite and a two-bedroom suite, both with full kitchens, and living rooms with sofa beds. Our views were spectacular (Diamondhead Mountain from the living room; oceanfront view from bedroom). The staff were very friendly and helpful. Two block walk to Waikiki Beach. Would definitely stay there again if we get the chance.
I stayed for about 5 days in June 2011 with some friends - I believe we got what they called the one bedroom suite or condo. The A/C is excellent and works very well - so it's a huge plus if you're like me and not fond of the heat. The staff at the front desk is very friendly and helpful. The cleaning and maintenance staff is friendly enough, but it's nothing spectacular. The room is definitely dated (as is the rest of the hotel), and it's definitely not the cleanest, but I wouldn't call it filthy. Personally, I don't care to have my bed made or towel changed every single day - it's not like I'm sharing it with other people. Nonetheless, like others have mentioned about the Aston properties in general, cleaning is subpar. They don't do it that well. Again, unless you're a neat freak, it shouldn't be a bother. My biggest complaint were the AWFUL beds. The one in the bedroom was at least comfortable enough to fall asleep on (not that it's saying much). The sofa bed is just terrible an...
The room I stayed in was excllent I loved everything about the room. The window view was beautiful looking at the diamond head.
This is the fourth time that we had stayed at this hotel. We always stayed at this hotel because of the one bedroom full kitchen rooms. Its an okay hotel.
We enjoyed our stay at the Aston Waikiki Sunset. Our only issues were the short twin beds and the noisy air conditioner. The separate bedroom and full kitchen were a bonus.
Watch out for the $10/night 'activity' fee. Kinda like airline bagage fees. Sneaky way to get more money out of you. The walk to the beach is two long blocks. God forbid you forgot somethng and have to walk back to the hotel. If you get ocean view - get very high room as you will be looking mostly at ugly roof tops of other buildings.
