Pros: 1st, they did not have the car we had reserved online for us there. 2nd, They charged us an extra $25 PER DAY for third party liability insurance, which we carry personally and refused, but they charged us anyway. This was at the cancun airport.Cons: An honest price online.

Pros: The Staff were kind but very overwhelmed.Cons: With Covid Restrictions, a surge of Travellers and Not as Many Cars Available that they made Reservations For, the Check in Process was slow and tedious, and Check Out was a NIGHTmare. No clear signage. Once you returned your car and had it inspected you then had to wait in no clear line, along with the people who were trying to Check In and Receive their Car, so that they can take final payment. Obviously for people needing to catch flights, this is a NIGHTMARE. I ended up having to scream "Retourno" multiple times til a lady materialised from out back and took my payment. She was then bombarded by other people also trying to return cars. There is NO system at ALL, and completely different to Rental Car Experience in the US or UK.

Pros: The drop-off was fast and easy, but - ugh.Cons: First off, there is a law in Mexico, that says if your insurance doesn't explicitly cover liability IN MEXICO, then you need to purchase their insurance - at about $25/day. The insurance ended up costing double the rental! We rented every year in MX, from 2016-2019, and never had to buy that. They will not rent you the vehicle without it, and said that it is a FELONY to drive without this explicit Mexican liability insurance. Second off, the Nissan March was a jalopy. It had noises and rattles like you wouldn't believe. How could they let a car go out like that? We were embarrassed to give it to the valet at the resort. Fortunately, I know enough Spanish colorful metaphors to deflect the embarrassment.

Pros: Staff was helpful. Shuttle guy was lightning fast.Cons: Clearer signage around the pick-up/drop-off location. I thought it was pretty straightforward, but a lot of other people seemed confused or unsure what to do.

Pros: The carCons: Don’t book with this company! The prices look really good until you get there. Then suddenly you have to pay a looooot of money for insurance and taxes that pile up on top of it. And the deposit I had to pay was just as crazy. I’ve renter many cars before but this isn’t something I’ve experienced before.

Pros: The cost of the rental was grossly misrepresented. Instead of costing $120 that was quoted for the rental it was $410. It took an hour at the airport Alamo counter to negotiate down to that rate. As two women traveling together, we felt taken advantage of since our flight arrived at 9pm and we had no other transportation option.Cons: I booked the car through Expedia's CarRentals.com and do not recommend them. They should have communicated what felt like hidden fees as part of their reservation and quote.

Cons: They cancel my reservation because my flight was delay, I called the company to let them now an they said I had to do a new reservation. I asked him to to Wait for me and he said i should call him when I arrived and he will take care of me. I call when I arrived t He told me he was sending somebody for me and I had to wait 2.5 hours in the airport with my family in the street, they never showed up. Horrible service, very disappointed.

Cons: We were given a car that was much, much smaller than what was reserved. We arrived late due to delayed flight but that’s no excuse to give away our car and offer us something half the size of what I booked. Never will rent from Budget again.

Pros: NothingCons: I booked my car from USA when I went there the personal told me that they don’t have Jeep and said his friend will take care of me I don’t speak Spanish and I needed up with Firefly by Herrz as it seems like that there is guy at airport who get commission from rental car company and other rental car companies employees give him business I needed up paying 140 more because budget can’t keep their part of bargain I will never use third party site and budget ever again

Cons: Everything was great but we were given a price of $72.01 for 5 days including taxes. In reality, it costs us over $400 by adding the no fault insurance. There has to be a happy medium where good coverage does not cost an arm and a leg !

Pros: After I complained they changed me the vehicle for another brand, and cleaner, not perfectly clean but cleaner.Cons: Don't show photos of cars the rental hasn't in stock, and don't offer things that will never be true, I choosed Budget because of the photo (A Jeep Wrangler) and the price $35 (When I payed more than $400).

Cons: Our flight was late so we showed up to Budget in Cancun an hour and a half after our car should have been ready. When we got to the desk, they informed us we had to purchase car insurance for $350 for the week. When our car was finally ready a half hour later (two hours after it should have been ready), it was dark and the car had an empty gas tank. We decided to ditch the car rental and take a taxi, which ended up being a great decision. Do not use Budget.

Pros: Poor experience enough that I will never consider using Europcar again and reconsider Kayak as well.Cons: The staff lied to me immediately upon entering-which took a half hour. They told me that they had no contract with our insurance companies, American Express and State Farm , and as I result the company policy was that I had to buy full insurance. They also stated that the price quoted on the internet did not bind them as Kayak was only an agent. I have lived in Mexico for years and know that he was in fact lying to me. Ultimately we 'negotiated' a price that was twice what we were promised. I ended up with 3 insurances covering the vehicle and almost wished something happened to it. The gas tank was only a quarter full- I've never seen that.

Dozens of passengers like us where trapped there doing paperwork but not getting the car they booked at the end. Never seen a business so disorganized in my life. Pros: Literally nothing. Worst rental experience of my life. I travel a lot and have never encountered such blatant disregard for peoples time and money. It was the most unprofessional business I have ever encountered.Cons: Everything. It took many hours out of my vacation. To start, the car pickup was supposed to be at the airport but they shuttled us to a location 10 minutes away. Showed up to the pickup spot and it looked like a scene from a war movie, like people(half dead bodies) lying(in rubble) on benches(in Fallujah), groggy(wounded) people just swaying back and forth because they are(stunned from the devastation) so bored from waiting. There was no direction, no one greeted me, and no one let me know what the hell was going on. There were a bunch of unmanned kiosks with broken iPads and all the employees were busy arguing with customers. Finally got someone to help me, by help I mean he placed me on the waiting list to be helped. Once I was finally helped it was clearly a game of “how much money can I scam out of this customer”. Nothing beyond this point got better, it got worse , but I’m tired of pointing out what is obviously an open scam.

Pros: The staff was inconsistent, and I had a tiny accident, w a little kid rear ending me. Europcar insurance didn't show up till 2 hours later. Police was furious with me bc the insurance wouldn't show up, insurance guy shows up late and smelling like alcohol. He tells me the accident wasn't my fault and take it in and I wouldn't have any problems. I take the car back on the due date, and the supervisor of Europcar in Playa Del Carmen Mexico says the kid rear ending me was my fault and came out of my deductible. Very shady, very money hungry. Beware, don't believe anything these people tell you.Cons: Eurocar could be more honest and upfront with their customers. I will be leaving bad reviews about my horrific experience on google.

Pros: Car was reliable Great on gasCons: The price quoted through Kayak ($2 per Day) plus insurance ($65) is completely false and misleading. When I went to Europcar in Cancun they charged me another $25 a day plus another insurance policy. It was completely overpriced and I was not notified about the additional charges that we were going to be added. The insurance that I ordered through HotWire was completely pointless because Europcar made me purchase their insurance. My company and I will never book a car through Europcar and/or HotWire due to the misleading prices and additional charges.

Worst rental experience ever...Pros: NothingCons: The vehicles are not serviced regularly. I was given a Chevy sedan with a broken clutch. When I complained they told me I could only get an automatic vehicle if I paid extra. The location is terrible. Will never rent a car here ever again.

One way or another you're going to end up paying the rate they wantPros: Everything about Enterprise is great as long as you don't mind they are not located at the airport but just a bit north of the airport along the main highway.Cons: I had a seemingly very good deal for a Jetta including the mandatory liability insurance, but it turned out when picking up the car that the included insurance only covered the car up to 75,000 MXN and the coverage needs to be 2,500,000 MXN so that raised the rates by $10 per day and then I also had to pay an extra $30 for an extra day although my pickup date/time and return date/time were basically what I originally entered into Expedia. I'm positive that all the agencies are playing these monetary shell games so the only distinguishing factor across agencies is the level of service and how picky they are about the condition of the car when returned.

Pros: I accidentally booked a manual transmission, and at the counter the man switched us to an automatic brand new car. Their airport shuttle was ready and waiting both times, they were friendly and very helpful. I didn't feel bamboozled by the insurance situation. It was breezy renting from this Enterprise. Would totally rent from them again.Cons: Everything was great - not a single issue!

You do NOT get E Plus points from the Cancun location -Pros: Very nice staff. Efficient given the extensive paper documents and countless signatures.Cons: Insurance is 3x the cost of the car rental. No E Plus points. No ability to make a reservation using E Plus points. This place licenses the Enterpprise brand - as do many non-USA locations.

Weren’t able to rent a car!Pros: NothingCons: I reserved a minivan for our family of 6 traveling together. When we arrived at the Thrifty counter, they told me they didn’t have a minivan for me. I said I made a reservation, he told me that since I didn’t prepay for the rental(which I didn’t know was an option) they didn’t have one for me to rent. We then had to scramble and try to find new transportation to/from the airport to our hotel. I will never rent through this website or Thrifty again

Fraudulent price scamsCons: I was very upset that Kayak advertised the rental as being $8. We reserved the car at this price, and arrived in Cancun to be surprised with a whopping amount of insurance fees which amounted to over $400. If we refused the insurance and used our credit card's insurance for the car, then we had to pay $1300.00 to the rental car company, which obviously made no sense. Absolutely infuriating to be surprised with this tremendous rate differencce, and found ourselves in a position of helplessness last minute. Would never rent again here.

Simple and easyPros: They communicated clearly via email before we arrived. The rental was inexpensive. I used my Amex card for insurance and there was no pressure to buy more insurance. They simply placed the $2500 hold on my card. The car ran fine and we had a great trip! We took lots of pictures when we picked the car up and had no problems with the drop off.

You need to read the fine print.Pros: The price if it would have been the price I expected.Cons: Once I arrived at Thrifty, the price for the car was accurate, but you are required to have insurance on the rental and that raise the price another $30 per day. This was not in the reservation I saw on Kayak, or at least not that I could see. I ended up cancelling the reservation and going a different route.

Cons: Cambiaron las condiciones de renta ,el costo del seguro sobrepasaba el alquiler en otras empresas de renta car. Las ofertas de la página no sirvieron para la renta al final tengamos con la empresa directamente. No aparecio nunca la oficina que decía la página de kayak

Holy Insurance Batman!Pros: Dollar rental was a good value. I liked having unlimited miles for our roadtrip.Cons: I was surprised that insurance cost almost double what I paid for the rental. It'd be nice to know the insurance prices upfront. Huge sticker shock since my personal insurance wouldn't cover a rental outside the US. In Cancun our flight arrived late at night. I knew arriving late at night might be problematic, but Dollar had reassured me that someone would be available to help us and that they'd shuttle us from the terminal to our vehicle. Well, it was 12:30AM and I couldn't find anyone at or near the terminal to shuttle us. I called 6 times, over 30 minutes, to the number provided and it would just ring endlessly. We finally had to pay for a taxi to take us to the Dollar location about 1/2 mile from the terminal. Finally I was able to talk to someone and drive away with a vehicle at 1:30AM.

Convenient location right by the airport terminalPros: All employees were polite and friendly and spoke emough English to explain our various options for the required Mexican car insurance. The car was clean and available more ot less immediately when we got through the check-in process. No shuttle bus required as the business is just a 1-minute walk across the street grom the airport terminal building. The prices were the lowest we found.Cons: Checkout paperwork took a lot longer than you can believe even though nobody was in line ahead of us, so allow yourself extra time to make it to your flight.

Pros: That they were fast in and out once you got to the counterCons: The prices that they had on there kayak website was wrong... it state that the rental is $4.65 for six days.. when I got there it was 88 dollars a day 300 hold on the credit card.. I need a car to get to the hotel so i got the car for one day then I return before my trip was over they have me 388 dollars back before 24 hour...

Pros: Nothing.Cons: Complete scam! -10 min outside the airport (shuttle pickup of slow if even available) -Gave me car in less then empty tank although paperwork stated 3/4 of a tank (scam #1) -Required additional insurance coverage (additional $23/day) because we didn’t have a sealed envelope certified by the Mexican government that we had enough funds ($6000 USD) to cover damages to the vehicle (scam #2) -Upon return on the vehicle the attendant pulled off hubcap to reveal “rim damage”. They insisted I had to replace rim and tire, conveniently additional insurance they force me into did not cover such damage.(Scam #3) -They are saying they will keep my security deposit (scam #4) Overall terrible experience!

Pros: Nice people and fast service.Cons: They forced me to purchase a $250 full-coverage insurance, which was not expected and not clearly stated when I made the reservation. This meant a 50% increase on our rental budget. This needs to be made clear during the online reservation and not as a surprise when you are all ready to go on site.

Cons: The agency's website absolutely must make clear that foreign car insurance (whether through private auto insurance or major credit card) is only valid and recognized if you have a hard copy of an original letter stating the policy coverage. Pros: Price I guess? Although I'm not sure if after insurance it was really any better than anywhere else.Cons: Staff asked for tips at pickup and dropoff, which I had never seen before when renting a car. Not sure if it's different at Hertz, etc. but it was annoying when in most other places you just rent a car and that's it.

Hidden charges and no pick upPros: NothingCons: Our shuttle was over an hour late. When we finally got to the car rental agency they tried to demand huge fees for extra insurance and taxes that made the rental extremely higher than other agencies. We ended up renting from another company all together and cancelling our reservation and additional purchased insurance because the customer service was so terrible.

Cons: They will charge $35/ day more for collision damage wavier and $32/ day for liability insurance. I was able to decline cdw as my credit card covers it but liability insurance was compulsory. Later I found out there are many rentals which give liability insurance for free. So check that out. Don't get Carried away by the low price. And ya they will charge 10% extra for airport rentals + 4% extra for using credit card :-\

Nice red color and air conditioning worked.Cons: Radio didn't work, Car was banged up everywhere, automatic nothing including windows, mid size car was actually only for 4 passengers. Car had over 90k miles on it. Paid at least twice the quoted amount after fees and insurance.

SchmeservationPros: It had 4 wheels.Cons: We reserved a 12 passenger van. They didn't have this and had to give us 2 separate vehicles and promised us they would bring us the van in the next 2 days. This didn't happen and we had to make contact again and FINALLY got the van we had reserved. Kayak quoted us $250 and the actual price was $680.

Horrible experienceCons: Our flight was delayed and they cancelled our reservation. Agent at the counter offered an alternative with another company (something nded like something under the table) for five times the cost of my original reservation. In the end we were left without a car.

Dishonest Staff NationalPros: nothing positiveCons: 1. I reserved, via Kayak.com, an “intermediate SUV or similar” for six (6) days in Cancun, Mexico for $110.08. the reservation said that it included “all taxes and fee”. 2. When I arrive I was told I had to purchase 3rd party insurance for 50 dollar a day. When I questioned the teller I determined that the legal minimum was really $26.00 per day (6*26+ 18% tax=$184.08. This more than doubled by initial reservation price. My new expected total is $294.08, wait it gets better. 3. The first SUV they checked out did not have a working seat beat. The second car they tried to put us in would not start at all. Finally the 3rd vehicle, a minivan, had working seatbelts and would start. The AC was struggling but we had to get going so we accepted it. I took pictures of the first two vehicles but by the 3rd van I was tired and forgot to take picture with my phone for later reference/proof; this will be important later. This process took 2 hours to pickup our “SUV”. This wasted daylight as I had to drive 5 hours to Merida that afternoon. 4. For Six (6) days the van was mediocre adequate for our needs. 5. I return the vehicle with a full tank of gas; I take a video of the exterior and Interior. The attendant filled out the damage assessment as “all good” but missing the front license plate. He stated that it was a $50 US dollar charge. I didn’t have picture showing the plate there or not; so I signed the report stating such. I was willing to eat a 50 dollar charge. 6. I was not given a copy of the report showing “no damage” 7. I was not given a final bill. 8. They said that everything was fine and I would receive an email with the bill later. I never did. 9. My credit card was billed $606.08 vs Kayak reservation price of $110.08. 10. I am currently working with my credit card, Discover, who are doing an awesome job disputing this fraudulent bill. I also called National US customer service and was able to determine the extra charge was from a $300 (5000 Pesos) charge due to "damage". Remember I was told everything was good, no damage. Right dishonest staff. My advice is to search online to read the reviews prior to renting in Cancun. National is one of the worst. Taxis and Uber appear to be the way to go to avoid the bait and switch.

The sales rep was really nice and honest which is rare for a car rental place.Cons: Realize in Mexico you have to get insurance which adds to your rate. Actually US insurance companies often don't cover cars in Mexico so it's best to get full coverage. Adds like 30 per day.

BRING PROOF OF THIRD PARTY LIABILITY COVERAGEPros: Staff was friendly.Cons: You must bring proof of third party liability coverage if you do not wish to purchase any insurance. Our 9 day rental was to cost US$46.18 through priceline. Since we did not bring proof of third party liability, we paid over US$280. This should be listed under 'important information' in the booking itinerary. Not cool.

The price was 300% more than the online pricePros: Everyone was nice, the car was perfectly clean.Cons: I will never rent from National ever again. The price of the insurance (they made us buy it, saying that we HAD to take the minimum insurance by law) made the total price for 10 days to go from $195 to $650! We did not really need a car for our vacation, but I thought that for $200 I would not have to get a cab and we could do some site seeing. Next time I will just catch a cab.

Cancelled my reservationCons: I arrived later than the time that I had booked the car for and they had given it away and had no alternatives. I had to go elsewhere and pay a lot more. My fault maybe, but they should be clearer about the policy.

Pros: Staff was friendly, location was convenientCons: The car was hard to argue that it was in the same class as what was represented, they do not honor the insurance that I purchased with kayak, and required the entire rental amount, plus 30% to have full coverage, otherwise and coverage under 100% requires very high deposits, up to $5000+ depending on what you rented.

Pros: nothingCons: The sales forced charges to me and take advantage of the fact that I didn’t understand Mexican. He lied to me saying that the phone pack and cooling bag are free and add the charges to my bill without informing me. He also gave me a car that is not full fuel and incurred charges on the fuel as well.

Cons: I rented the car by internet to pick it up at Cancun airport and I received a call the day before my flight and I explained him that my scheduled flight is for Thursday and I was supposed to pick up the car Friday then he told me to pick up the car at “flamingo plaza” in Cancun instead airport at 12:00 I was there and the person in charge told me that he didn't have my contract don’t even in the system after a few minutes dealing with that he found that my car was placed in somewhere place I paid a taxi round trip to look for it. At the spot that I pick up the car supposed to be a suburban, Tahoe or Yukon we got a journey.

Asked us for a $30k deposit for a used Grand Caravan....LOL. ClownsCons: Ya, you read that right, $30k deposit. Not in midst of arguing about something else but as part of a welcome, here is your car and this is the deposit requirement. They also require about $100 per day in local insurance. These guys are clowns. Cars looked old and beat up. Location is 4 to 6 miles away from airport, down some industrial road. Good luck trying to get a taxi to take you elsewhere. No taxis and no phone number to call for a taxi. Also, no one answers at EZ cust service. Getting trapped is an understatement. Stay away from EZ. Go with a reputable company like Enterprise, Avis, National, etc.

Cons: Had to do a $10,000 deposit for the car because I had my own insurance. That's just too much and maxed out my credit card. This is not 5 minutes from airport like advertised. Consider 15 minutes transportation from airport to pick up location. Car provided was old. Mosquitoes were eating us alive at pick up location. By the way, pick up location is very sketchy.

Pros: Open 24 x 7Cons: In Cancún the service is provided by AMERICA car rental. Coordinating the pickup was difficult, we lost about an hour waiting and arranging, the guy on the phone was a little bit rude. After we were brought to the office, we had to wait another hour because they had more customers in the line. They try to force you to take their insurance by putting a deposit of $7000 for a compact car if you want to use your own insurance. I booked a Dodge Avenger and they offered a VM Gol and I was told it was one of the newest cars: it was a lie. The car had scratches everywhere, it was dirty with stains on the roof, broken pieces, seat couldn't be adjusted and had noises while driving.

Pros: Nothing because they just tell you that it's just a confirmation and not a booking. So since they had no car available, we couldnt hold on to our schedule. Plus, the staff was very unfriendly, in this high season, but i'm sure he would be begging us to rent a car in the low season!Cons: Have the option of pre-paying to secure a rental, and not just a "confirmation" that has no value to them.

Cons: When I went to pick up the car, the associate at the desk said that my reservation didn't exist, even though I showed him the confirmation email. He then said the only vehicle he had on-site was a stick-shift, and that to retrieve the car I rented online I would have to pay ~$500 and take a shuttle to a different rental car facility instead of the airport. I ended up having to take a bus to reach my destination, and then had to use bikes, taxis, and buses during the course of the trip instead of a vehicle.

Total scamCons: The staff tried to charge me an outrageous amount of money for insurance, even though I told them that my credit card covers total lost. I was very disappointed and end up not renting the car here, so I went back to the airport with my wife, two children and parents and tons of luggage. At the airport we were not allow to go in where all the car rental companies are. It was a very stressful moment. At the end airport security allow me to speak with one company representative of my choosing. I asked to speak with someone from AVIS and end up renting car here at a price a bit more than fire fly but no charge for insurance.

This was between completly unprofessional and a clear trick to extract more money from foreign tourists! My advice wojld be to stay away from this agency and the possible scam

Pros: Staff were friendly, accamodating and willing to negotiate price due to misunderstanding regarding credit card coverage of damage insurance - ended up giving us a good deal. Car was great. Overall a good value.Cons: Additional costs such as airport fee and taxes not advertized and not clear. Not sure if this is something Kayak should post or company needed to reveal. Check out insurance options and how your credit card may cover. (note they said need to put of collateral equal to value of vehicle to get credit card coverage - credit card company to re-imburse you later)

Be ready for the unexpectedPros: After driving the kia optima for 15 days, I came to appreciate it's acceleration, great brakes and comfort.Cons: Always check with your home insurance before renting in Mexico. The car was cheap to rent at 178.00 but mandatory liability added at $29 a day with $800 on hold on your credit card or $59 per day full coverage with a $200 hold on your card. Ended up paying $733 for entire trip. In Cancun there is no booth at the airport. Ace shares a space with Fox Car Rentals. Called them but they never sent a van. We finally walked our luggage across the street from the airport to find their office. The RAVs we rented were not coming until nightime. They only had one RAV in their inventory so they offered us the new Optimas. Every step was a long wait. The best part was the reliability of the car and returning it was quick. They did return us to the airport. Warning: If you get a traffic ticket in Mexico, police remove the license plate until you pay and show proof. You cannot return the car without its plates. Do not rent a car without plates as many policemen will stop you and demand a bribe. We met other tourists with this problem. We were targeted by police in Campeche because the car was a rental and we were foreigners. They nearly confiscated my brother's license and asked for a bribe of $108 which we paid.

Tried to Scam Me... DO NOT RENT AT ACEPros: Nothing... they are lying cheats... DO NOT Rent From ACE.Cons: Reserved with Months in Advance at a price of U$16 per day for a 2 week rental. Due to plane delays, the shit-show in customs and then NO ACE stand or person in the airport... finally made it to their Office 1:30- 2 hours behind schedule. The slimeball at the counter told me they no longer had my reservation... that they would make a new one and the new price would be U$60 per day with No Insurance Coverage or U$75 per day with full coverage. Decided to go to Hertz.... same day no reservation and full coverage, same car class U$45 per day. Clearly a scam at ACE

Terrible experience in CancunPros: Price was attractiveCons: The 7-seater that we had booked in Cancun was unavailable when we got to the car rental and we were offer instead an...11-seater bus that neither my wife not I could drive confidently given the size. We were told that a Chevy Suburban might be available "in a couple of hours" but the car had not yet been returned by previous client. This failed to instill much confidence and we asked our booking to be cancelled. We hope that ACE will return the c.$800 that we paid for the failed rental as they failed to honor their part of the contract. At this stage, we will not recommend ACE to any one considering that on top of the money already paid we had to add some insurance (despite our credit card insurance blanket) which would have made the cost comparable to what we paid at Hertz.
