The room smelled a little stale. When we opened the window to get some fresh air, the smell of cigarette smoke drifted in.
Very suitable for what it is ... an airport hotel ... for overnight stays Decor is dated back to 70's
Nice sized room, clean, comfortable. Close to the airport, when it was raining used the shuttle for door to door service for my early morning flight. Room wasn't available until 2 pm even though I called the day before to ask for an early check in.
The entire hotel is currently under construction. The price was outrageous in this context. I booked with kayak for a premier king room. They booked me into a double, until I showed them my confirmation note; the front desk clerk then reluctantly changed my room type and wasn't welcoming as he handed me my key.
Arrived at the hotel after spending a week in a campervan. The campervan drop off was next door, which was very handy. Good sized room and excellent bed, although after a week in a campervan, any bed would have felt good!!! The meal at the restaurant was excellent and the free shuttle to the airport was very efficient..
Good location at 2am at the airport! Good courtesy bus service also at 2am.
Restaurant was good. Laundry room was very convenient.
excellent quality perfect for Airport.
Exceptional stuff 24 hours reception Shuttle from a rental car company was available The hotel is a little spread out: it may take a long walk to reach your room The price is on the high side
restaurant bar pretty good. We stayed here because it was close to the airport and it did not disappoint. Very close, indeed. Beds fair. Ground floor unit surrounded by chain link construction fence with a dign, "Under Demolition." Not a comfortable stay but very close to the airport.
Handy, just opposite airportterminal, good transferservice 24/7. Surprising good restaurant and meals. Very helpfull and friendly staff. Ideal for transittravellers.
The staff were very plesent and helpful in every way. the closness to the airport. the food was a reasonable price and service was good quality. No
Lots of little touches - 3hours free internet per day, nice bathroom accessories, very comfortable bed, big TV Absolutely nothing
The quality and standard of the hotel and the assistance given to me when i asked if they could arrange a shuttle to the airport and also if they would check with a car hire company regarding the delivery of a car for me, this assistance was very welcoming. I could not fault the hotel in anyway at all.
Wifi access, large safe and location. Access to room before designated time. Excellent all round
Clean, comfortable accomodation. Friendly staff. Proximity to Isaac Theatre Royal. The room was too hot and the air conditioning was ineffective.
Location - right in the centre of Christchurch, New & Modern No Problems
Quiet. Welcoming front desk and entry. Helpful staff. Good sized bathroom. Good food available. Excellent room rate. Espresso coffee avaiable. All in all a pleasant stay considering the earthquake had occurred on 2 weeks earlier. Please pass on my Thanks to the staff. Exercise equip. could perhaps be of a better standard.
location - poor and expensive breakfast - towels were not very clean - gym is not realy a gym - it doesn't have any dumb-bells
A nice hotel
Even though the total booking was already paid, the hotel charged me again. Now I'm trying to get my money back, what wouldn't be necessary if the staff were well informed. I got an offer at the moment of the booking but when I checked out I had to pay again, and for the current price, which was higher. I still don't know whose is the fault, the hotel or website. I hope this comment is useful to advice other people or at least to improve the services of both.
Excellent location, great rooms and friendly staff
The Sheep in the Lobby Every one calls you Bro plus there was an aful lot of New Zealanders at the Venue
balcony from room expensive car parking
The staff were polite. Firstly, the bathrooms need air freshener. I didn't like when I bent down to dry myself, and my nose got too close to the toilet (every day). Just one of the wall dispensers that spray every 30 mins would be good. Secondly, there is no soap by the basins. The soap is in the shower, and was not always full. Thirdly, there is no hand-towel in the bathrooms. So, after having used the toilet, you couldn't wash and dry your hands - which is a huge hygiene issue. To conclude, the hotel needs: air freshener in every bathroom, soap and a way to dry your hands by every bathroom sink. Once that's changed, I'd be happy to recommend the hotel.
great location great value
clean tidy cheaper. Not buying frill I don't need
The location. It wasn't a hotel, the name was deceiving as was the description. It was a crappy hostel. No fans or a/c. I understand it's an old building but it gets quite stuffy and there wasn't any fan nor could I open a window. It really was an old junky room. On a good day it could be called quaint, but I was expecting a nice normal hotel room.
you get what you pay for but I must say the customer service we got was excellent very friendly and helpful thank you having only 1 available car parking space, although because of our nature for staying the hotel staff did accommodate us, which we did appreciate very much Thanks again
Friendly staff. Hassle free check-in and check-out. Good location with value for money. Minor car parking inconvenience during daytime.
friendly helpful staff, great location & value for money One room offered had no bedside table, hanging space or mirror in room which was very pleasant otherwise also no tv,radio
very good value for money. clean and tidy, frendly staff and good location for walk to city centre. great restaurant across road.
nothing my wife standing in a pool of urine in the toilets..
The room smelled horrible, the sheets haved long hairs from another persons. We prefer pay and go to another place nefore sleep in this conditions.

As soon as we arrived, the staff were expecting us. It was a cold miserable day and it was great to be welcomed so sincerely. The food was fantastic and it was handy to the city centre. No
Staff was friendly and room was very comfortable. No gym on premises, but hotel guests can go to nearby local gym.
Staff was warm and welcoming without being overbearing. Room was well appointed and clean. Great bathroom! Hotel was centrally located to "downtown" Christchurch and breakfast, although a bit expensive, was good and my Latte was delicious! Wasn't there long enough to find a negative.
Food was better than at the typical hotel. The staff were accomodating and service-oriented. There was no in-house gym. Guests can use a facility 20 minutes away.
The staff were absolutely on to everything, nothing was too much effort. N/a
our stay at Quest Christchurch was a very pleasant one from start to finish. The staff on reception were very efficient and had us checked in and an upgrade from a one bed to a three bed given very quickly. The apartment was very clean and comfortable .
The friendly, easy going helpfulness of all staff. The perfectness (not sure if that is a word) of the location. The ease of the web site to book a room from within N.Z and from overseas. We all found the rooms too warm and there was no a.c.
Went for the rugby and the ajoining rooms were well fitted out and suited our needs perfectly for 2 couples. well situated in the heart of the city and great private, clean hotel room.
Convenient location. Ability to cook own meals. Bed too soft.
Safe, secure and central. Nothing
Staff were very helpfull
I like the location of the hotel and the friendly staff. Since the earthquake destroyed the downtown area, I've looked at a location where there is something within walking distance. The restaurants are good and reasonably priced as is the Northlands mall. Like a lot of hotels, tour groups stay here. They can be really noisy and rude.
We stayed at the Colombo on our last night in New Zealand. The room was very clean and roomy. Good size bathroom with strong water pressure and lots of hot water. Our room has a small back patio for some morning air. Great location, walking distance from the heart of town and close to the new hot strip on Victoria Street where we had dinner at the King of Snake (also recommend). The complex was quiet and even with the International Cricket Festivities we had a great nights sleep before our long flight home. We asked for a late check out and even though there were fully booked they were able to accommodate. For what we needed which was not a lot, this was the perfect spot.
I think the people at the hotel were some of the friendliest people I have dealt with. We did not care for the continental breakfast they had and thought it to be substandard to most hotels.
Convenience. I can park my car right at the door step, easy for me to load/unload my golfing gears.
The staff were helpful and courteous to me. Our room had a stained glass window and sweet shades. The room was spacious. The food at Jimmys bar was expensive.
Food available on site and Carlton Hotel serving food a few minutes walk away. On main bus route to CBD (or about 15 minutes easy walk) and close to Hagley Park. Room was clean but basic. One heater in the room which didn't seem to generate much heat and would be somewhat inadequate in the winter. No exhaust or heater in the bathroom so lots of condensation, damp towels in the morning and fogged up mirror. On site parking is woeful - no allocated parking space for individual rooms and insufficient on site parking for all visitors - first come first served basis, otherwise on street parking.
Very helpful staff
people are very nice, the rooms are clean, not so far from the center.
Cleanliness Being told the wrong price for a taxi to the airport from your staff
Wonderful clean room with everything we needed, esp as we had two small children. The owner was the rudest man I have ever encountered. Whilst he did calm down and solve an issue we had, his approach was extremley aggressive and offputting.
Very helpful staff, nice continental breakfast, relaxed but businesslike environment
As has always been the case, its nice to be treated like one of the family The "Burger & Fries" taken off the room service menu
a great place to stay really central for our trip and the lovely young waiter who brought us great toast and the neat boy who drove us to the airport and he was a great driver
The staff were excellent - very welcoming and genuine in their helpfulness. Coming from the UK, good service is a refreshing change and very much appreciated. A minor comment but I did find the bed a bit soft.
Room is clean Slow internet No fancy shampoo or soap for shower
friendly staff and adequate rooms with all you would need. probably could do with a little updating.
The owners were most helpful and very friendly.
Nice, clean, apartment, ideally located for access to centre of town, and to major routes for further access out of the city. The hosts went out of their way to provide every bit of assistance they could (without being in the slightest intrusive). Perfect for exploring Christchurch, and its environs.
only stayed one night to catch next day flight the self rating 4 stars plus is a bit misleading
Friendliness of owners very helpful No
The friendliness of the staff and the easy well designed rooms Mattress could have been a bit firmer, but more a personal preference
