Cons: We rented a minivan and showed up to get a Ford Fusion. Their excuse was that both vehicles sit 7. The customer service rep wouldn't back down that they were different vehicles. Anyways it substantially delayed our trip. We ended up going with Enterprise because their customer service was much more understanding and actually had a minivan that we could rent. Budget is cheap but you won't get what you paid for and add more stress to your trip.

Pros: Nothing, will never use Budget again. My husband will never use Budget again and he is a preferred member!
Cons: Budget and all rental cars were closed at the time I was told to pick up car. There was not a real person available at Customer service to talk to. Had to take a taxi at a cost of $60 to get back to St George. our customer relations told me today when I called and spoke to them: spoke, but can't help you. We don't reimburse for taxi fare. We don't do anything for you. Sorry your plans were screwed up because you didn't get your car.

Pros: Car was as expected.
Cons: Travelling with golf clubs, luggage and friends is always hectic. Small airport, but no one at Budget Counter and no sign. Someone told us to check st Avis counter. Signed paperwork for car and initialed were I was told. WASN'T told I had to initital some extremly small print to decline some phony insurance from fom NY city! Got a charge on credit card after I returned home. I should have stuck with National.

I reserved an SUV
Cons: I reserved an SUV online. When I arrived, I was given a mini van and told that there were no SUVs on site, but that I should come back to the airport in the morning if I wanted to trade out the mini van for an SUV, because several cars were being returned at midnight. At 20 minutes each way to and from the airport, I decided to call first thing in the morning just to make sure. After 45 frustrating minutes, no one could help me - I was told I needed to talk to someone at the counter, yet the call center could not connect me to the counter, and the 'local' phone numbers listed online and on my contract all patched me through to the call center. There was no way to call the local counter directly. I had to rearrange my work schedule to drive back out to the airport, only to be told on arrival that there were no SUVs available. I asked for the manager's phone number, called and spoke to a woman who made no apology whatsoever and was unable to assist me. Additionally, the mini van they gave me was dirty, with trash on the floor, and it was completely out of windshield washer fluid with the warning light on. The online reservation service for Budget/Avis did not deliver what was promised. My company and I will not be renting from you again.

Cons: When we arrived at St George Airport we had reservation for 3 Vans and you had Zero Vans for us. The girls at counter said they only had 2 vans so 4 people in our party went to Enterprise. We then were told that we would have to call an Uber driver to take us to the St George office to pick up the other 2 vans and drive back to airport to pick up the 8 people in our party that were still waiting at Airport. We were also told that the Vans would be discounted for our time ( that didn't happen but you did credit us for the Uber expense ). We spent about 2 1/2 Hrs at airport trying to get though this situation not a pleasant experience. These reservations were made well in advance and this should not have happened.

Cons: I had reserved an intermediate SUV. When we got there, they said I would be driving a Ford F150 pick up truck. I had a lot of gifts and baby stuff that I needed to transport and since they didn't have a cover for the truck, we were unable to find a suitable SUV anywhere else.
They told us that the truck was classified under the SUV category.
This is the last time I will EVER reserve through Budget. I'll stick with Enterprise who has NEVER messed up a reservation yet.

Cons: When we picked the car up the pregnant sales woman was less then helpful. The car was very dirty inside, there was a light saying oil change. The car just felt like it needed attention and regular maintenance.

Bait & Switch
Pros: Reserved a full size car for $268 for 5 days. When I showed up they had absolutely no cars and offered me a eight passenger van for $450. I got totally ripped off!

Pros: The st george location of Avis is terrible. I was promised a four by four. They did not have the vehicle available and instead offered me a minibus. I needed a 4x4 for a ski trip. This significantly delayed and inconvenience my trip.

Pros: The st. George location is terrible. They did not have the SUV that we requested. We were stuck without a four-wheel drive in a snowstorm and had to camp out elsewhere. This delayed our trip.

Dangerous tires and incompetence
Pros: I didn't like anything about this rental experience.
Cons: Pick up was bad. The lady was rude. Never did a walk through of the vehicle. Garbage was left from the previous renter. After driving 250 miles I flipped through the steering wheel buttons and saw that the tires were dangerously over inflated. Recommended was 34, and max fill was 40 for the tires on the vehicle. The back drivers side fired was T 37, front driver side was 44, front passenger was 46, back passenger was 43. Not only was the huge difference between them all dangerous, but at almost 50psi that tire could easily have blown. They clearly never checked the car, and safety is clearly not a priority. Then upon returning the vehicle, I handed the guy the form (nobody was outside on the garage at the airport to accept the vehicle. You had to go inside to their desk). The form was filled out showing that I'd filled the gas tank. He still entered it as being returned empty and they charge $9 per gallon! He couldn't undo it either so took my number and email for them to contact me. Then it became my job to prove through pictures of the gas receipt that I'd actually filled it with gas. I won't ever be renting from Avis again.

Would have been fine, except the car smelled like
Pros: Pickup and dropoff was the fastest I have experienced in renting a car. The car itself was a smooth ride.
Cons: The car was a bit dirty on the inside. But the worst was that the car stunk badly of cigarette smoke! I would have gone back to the counter to exchange the car, but I was in a hurry to make it to an appointment four hours away, so we (including my 5 year old) suffered for the week with third-hand smoke. Ugh!

Use another company
Pros: The only positive thing I can say is the car was very clean - and it got good gas mileage.
Cons: I was given the run-around, both at the airport and at the downtown location. The agent at the airport promised me a vehicle if I would return in 20 minutes. After killing time at the airport, I returned in 20 minutes like he asked. He then told me he had no car for me and I would have to pick it up at the downtown location. They have no shuttle service, so you are on the hook for a taxi ride, which you have to call for and wait another 20 minutes for. The downtown agent said she had just given my car away, but if we wanted to wait (again!) she would have one "very soon" for me, but it would cost more per day because it is a bigger vehicle. I declined. Then magically "my" car appeared! It took 2 hours total from the time I first contacted Hertz at the airport until I finally was in my car. The downtown agent was very, very rude and made this whole fiasco my fault instead of Hertz. Will never rent from Hertz again.
