Cons: When we dropped if off in Paris, the drop off station was very sketchy in a below-ground parking lot and the employees didn't seem to know what to do with us. We also had to ask them to give us a receipt and confirm how much of our hold would be charged. It all felt very unprofessional and confusing.

Pros: My reservation in Paris was wrongly reported in the system to be picked up at Les Ullis. Luckily the Agency manager went out of his way to find an acceptable compromise with another car.
Cons: My reservation 44753552US4 for Premium - Mercedes-Benz C-Class was to be picked up at 184 Rue Du Faubourg Saint Martin, Paris, but was wrongly reported in the system to be picked up at Les Ullis i.e. over one hour and 100€ taxi fare!
In addition, a wrong phone number of the agency on the confirmation...
This is unacceptable: SHAME ON AVIS information system!

Damage claims were trumped up
Cons: They switched cars promising a FIAT and giving me an underpowered Citroen. When I dropped it off they noted four points of scratched paint that I did not incur....and didn't even notice upon pick up.
I just feel as though Avis has used and abused me.

Pros: This Avis team at Place de la Madeleine in Paris was very friendly and efficient on both the pick up and the return. A very different and pleasant experience from the usual hoops you have to jump through with renting in the US (long wait times, lots of questions to go through, service with a scowl...) I'll be back to rent here when I'm in Paris next.
Pros: It was a smooth transaction and everything went well.
Cons: The only problem was that I paid for insurance on line during the reservation and when I went to pick up the car they had no record of it. I had to buy insurance again, which was higher daily rate than the car itself!

Pros: Very good service, excellent location, of course affordable price, no extra charge for GPS, i picked up right in downtown Paris and dropped off at air port CDG, it's really convenient ! Well done!
Cons: The location is underground, signs is not very clear, hard to find it.

Cons: The seat was very uncomfortable and there was no way to adjust the back.
Also- I opted for insurance online when booking the car. The agent apparently could not see this and tried to get me to insure with them. I had proof of insurance and they still tried to sell me insurance.

Pros: Everything was fine with the car but now I am getting charged every month 30€ without any notice and without explanations. It is in process of sueing as they won't remove my bank details.
Cons: Warning, don't book with them. Charging after every momth wotgout notice or explanation!

Cons: I made a reservation to rent a car and i received an email that confirmed my reservation, when i went to pick up the car, the lady from europcar told me that the reservation wasnt in her sistem and that she had no cars to rent me. I had already payed the reservation and the insurance. I was a mess, Im really angry beacuse I had to pay 400 euros to rent another car in a different agency, and it was in christmas so there were no cars left.

Driving around Paris
Pros: The car had an onboard navigation system. Made it easy to drive out of Paris to Giverny and Auvers sur Oise. It was wonderful finding our way back to the car park.

Condition of car
Pros: Overall a very comfortable vehicle. I liked the numerous warning features. Too bad it didn't include a backup camera.
Cons: The car had more dents and scratches than usual. No windshield washer fluid and the rear window wiper blade was missing. The car occasionally made an unidentifiable tone sound.
I also had a 10 euro discount the agent would not accept.

Pros: Cordial relationships with all agency personnel. The woman who set up the original rental in Paris, Laurie, was particularly helpful. When we went to an office in Avignon to extend our rental, the man who assisted us was also excellent. The rental chap in Perpignan was also very helpful.
The ease with which we extended our rental was particularly appreciated. Above and beyond that, the car functioned well. We appreciated the upgrade when our requested car was not available. We will definitely rent with Europcar again as we continue our travels.
Cons: One slight problem occurred on our initial day. Despite the thorough briefing by the Paris team, they neglected to take into account the fact that many innovative features of newer model cars are unknown to many drivers. In this case, the Audi's automatic start/stop feature caused me some initial consternation. On the highway it was fine, of course, but in city traffic, it was anxiety producing. I was prepared to return the car the next morning, but Googled the problem and learned about the stop/start feature and the easy switch to the manual setting. All was well from that point on.

Pros: They ended up giving me an upgraded car in order to fill my reservation. They ultimately met what I needed and fulfilled the reservation.
Cons: When I showed up to get my car, which I reserved that morning, they told me that they had no cars left and I would have to go somewhere else. After pushing a little as to how that happened, I was told that I could have the one car they left for an increased 30 euros a day. I pushed further saying it wasn't my fault that they didn't have my car that was reserved and I shouldn't have to go somewhere else if they actually did have a car available.
Pros: Extremely friendly staff. Explained everything thoroughly and made sure their system matched my Kayak price which seemed a bit tricky at first.
Cons: Didn't have an SUV but car I got was great.

Pros: Enterprise took the time to explain how their policies worked in France regarding the initial deposit and eventual refund. In addition, they gave a great overview of the car the morning of our rental so there was no question where things like the spare tire, jack were. All in all, very good experience.

Great car, staff and deal (despite a rocky start)
Pros: it was great to have some training by the staff on my hybrid rental, which was not so easy to start. one of the staff also gave me his mobile, in case I had an issue with the rental later on. The car was in very good shape, and held up very well. Also, the staff was very supportive when I got a small bruise on the car from an angry driver a few minutes before sending back the car.
Cons: Agency was empty when I arrived. waited 20+ minutes as staff were out picking up cars. not a big deal, but that was a bit stressful.

Pros: Almost nothing and the fact I can't remember a pleasant thought about the experience it speaks a lot.
Cons: Everything! The price was supposed to be &45 and it turned out that they charge for miles which I was never told because nobody spoke french in the fakacta place

Should have learnt my lesson from my previous expe
Pros: when I returned the car 2 hours late, I argued and waiting for about an hour so they could 'not' charge me an extra day. that was nice.
Cons: Renting a car is such a pain, scam, and sadly sucks away the excitement of a short break before you even set off.
I booked four days car rental for $230 knowing I would get stung for some insurance.
Then I ended up getting a smaller car, waiting 2 hours for it, being charged extra because they didn't have my car, paying surcharges.. dropping off the car with a final bill of around $550 conveniently charged to my credit card, I walked out of Avis/Budget counter feeling pretty sore.
ps. i didn't even opt for the $40 a day full insurance

Worst manager I`ve ever met
Pros: The car was clean and new. It had good navigation system and blutooth which is important.
Cons: The manager guy at the office was rude, unpolite and bad educated. He made our rental experience with this company terrible and left very bed impression.

Cons: The total cost was much higher than we have been told and in the credit card receipt it showed that the rental agency was Avis and not Budget, as we had thought.
Cons: Pick up was terribly slow. We waited almost a half hour before we were even able to get to the counter. Then had to walk to a different location to pick up the car. On getting to the garage, the car they offered us had not even been cleaned and was filthy on both the outside and the inside. We then had to wait another half hour before they gave us another car.
Even though my invoice and bill were all in EUR, when I got my finall bill I noticed that, without my authorization, they had charged me in USD and charged me an extortionate conversion rate for the privilege. I used to have a high perception of Hertz but these sleazy tactics (which only amount to a couple of $ for them) make me want to put them into the same bucket as other sleazy operators such as Ryanair.

Good car, not great customer service
Pros: Car was clean and in good condition.
Cons: It wasn't clear at pick up or drop off how much money I would be charged. I had to look at my bank statement to find out how much I was charged.

Pros: The directions on the website left me at the wrong place. When I phone in they were unable to help. After three calls they stopped answering. It took me two hours scouring a five block radius to find that it was at the train station. How easy was that? Why did no one at the customer service desk know to simply tell me??!
