I screwed up my booking for this hotel and they kindly changed it to the right date without charging a few. They were very helpful about the sightseeing and we could leave our car while we went to see Carcassone - only .5km walk away the room was quite small - just enough for two single beds. But it worked.
View of castle Reception staff unresponsive to internet access problem.
Good location on the banks of River Aude with good views of the old Citie from the "panoramic rooms".
it has a very nice location, facing the old city, and is about 10 minutes easy walking distance.
Clean, stylish room. Confusion when checking out. Staff not fully informed. Fifteen minutes to settle bill.
Too noisy too early in the morning esp.cleaning staff
The location was very nice, the view of the walled city excellent. Our rooms were on the same floor as the restaurant.
excellent food Decor poor and needed updating
Good location between old and new city. Good scenic views if you pay a little extra The shower had no high position so you had to sit or kneel, or hold the shower head
location, breakfast Could do with a spring clean in the public areas (room was good)
Perfect location by the river, at the foot of the old bridge so close to both the old town and the new town . Some good restaurants in both the old and new town and the hotel's own restaurant was excellent. The panoramic rooms had lovely views and well worth paying the extra.
The location of the hotel was superb - it could not have been better. Our particular room had a separate bathroom and toilet, the latter being extremely small. It would have been better had the two been combined.
The restaurant was good and reasonable priced the rooms were very clean and the staff very helpful.
It was quiet - I choose it for the location but I was fooled by your description of how far away it was from the attractions - I say to recommend below, but only for drivers. The fact that I was missled about the distance from the Cite and from the Ville Basse That made me very annoyed. I have a difficulty walking and had to walk a lot
Staff very friendly with a relaxed family atmosphere. Food excellent particularly for dinner. Bed was fine for a short stay but a bit too much of a camp bed,
hotel is near to the motorway and very handy to visit the town. Our double room are small but confortable hotel staff speak only French language
the staff were friendly and helpful, the breakfast was good value for money. The bar area in the evening was pleasant. Good view from the room. The roadside signs should say both 'Brit Hotel' and 'Bosquet'.
1.The bed. I've stayed here twice, and the beds are very comfortable, better than most hotels. 2. There's a kettle in the room so an evening hot drink possible. 3. The price - staying in November I paid less than €70 for dinner bed and breakfast. 4. The location just off the main road - easy to find and very useful for a break en route. It is very much in need of redecoration. The bedroom I slept in the second time had a very noisy machine of some sort just outside (Room 14 - avoid if you can). The rooms are small - as a sole traveller for one night not a problem, but I was in a room meant for up to 3. The bedroom doors are very heavy and difficult to open. The lighting in the rooms is average hotel , which means it's not really adequate, but manageable.
The hotel has an good resturant, and the room had a quiet air conditioning unit so we were able to leave it on all night The room was a bit cramped with a double and single bed in it
Pleasant and helpful staff. Very good restaurant. Large room. Comfortable bed. Easy to find and near La Cite
Good hotel close to the Cite ( 15 mins walk). Very helpful staff.
Location was excellent. Enjoyed the garden. Was disappointed that the swimming pool was under renovation and was not aware of this when booking. There was an awful damp smell in room although it was very clean.
helpfulness and friendliness of all staff.location.quiet even during building works excellent breakfast.pleasant public rooms
The location was just right for walking into the walled city. The restaurant food could have been better, and it appeared to not be well organized.
Location and parking 1) Reception staff was un-welcoming. 2) The type of room I requested was not available and yet the receptionist proceeded to convince me that is "normal". I had to speak to the manager on the phone who was kind enough to offer his apologies. 3) The safe in my room could not be opened. 4) Breakfast was not special.
The situation was perfect - near to the cite but very quiet. Free parking.Good staff - always helpful. Very comfortable rooms which were cleaned to a high standard.
i found the hotel staff exceptionally friendly. i have stayed in a lot of hotels around the world and the staff here were definately among the best. they are helpful, make an effort to be friendly not in the usual professional friendliness you get in hotels but a conscious effort to do all they can to help and to help you feel like a person not a room number
The log fire in the bar. Breakfast buffet. Shower was really good.
Excellent location for the citadel. We were upgraded and our room was truly magnificent. The service throughout was very good.
We thought the accommodations were very nice as well as the staff and very helpful considering our French is not too good. We particularly enjoyed the walled medieval city and the restaurants there as well as some nice shops. The view is terrific. sorry that we could stay one one night.
The swimming pool was not available because of construction work and your site did not show this. Breakfast was expensive, so we ate out.
The location to both the Castle and the city was great. Short walk into the city was charming. Great location. Very small room although comfortable and clean.
The location was excellent
Perfect location for the medieval city The rain - for 2 full days
Hotel was located outside the medieval walls, about a 5 minute walk to the main gate. Having a baby and luggage to stroll with, it was the better place to stay than in the medieval walls because of the cobble stoned roads. Rooms were clean and it had a good shower. Room was a bit on the small side though, since we had to use a baby cot. Nice hotel overall.
Comfortable bed.Receptionist always greeted guests with a smile &extremely helptul.
It was convenient to the Cite and easy walking distance to the town. Nice atmosphere and clean. Breakfast was very acceptable.
I thought that the staff on reception were always very helpful, the location was good a few moments from the cite, the room was clean & comfortable although rather small, the hotel provided water for sale to the guests at the same price as the local shop. The breakfast provided at the hotel was extremely poor for the price that we were charged, it was the worst breakfast we have ever had . The hotel didn't have a hairdryer in the room, nor did it have a lift, I found it difficult to climb the two flights of stairs to our room.
Clean & functional rooms. Friendly and accommodating staff who could offer helpful recommendations (E.g where to eat for dinner) No real luxuries, but at the price, I wasn't expecting any!
Location . Rooms very clean although bath towels grey and frayed. Very good staff, polite and helpful Price of break fast why would you pay 10 euros when patisserie over the road was a small fraction of the price
Excellent position near to the Cite; very quiet; very clean; reception staff very helpful. Excellent supermarket next to hotel. The bath/shower was very slippery underfoot; the shower curtain did not fit and water went over the floor. Tea/coffee making facilities in the room would have been good.
We were given a twin-bedded rather than a double room. The beds were very uncomfortable, the pillows were tiny and useless.
The room was a lot bigger than we expected,it could have done with a couch.Apart from that everything was excellent.
A large hotel that flattered to deceive. The accomodation was adequate, however, the bedroom accomodation was basic, no fridge or provision of hot drinks,as say in a Best Western Hotel.
Shower has mold and very old. Cracks on walls and ceiling...
Lovely old style hotel evocative of a previous era. Well located. Helpful staff.
Location in the centre of town is convenient for a lot of things and the staff were pleasant and helpful Breakfast should be included in the tariff- it was the last time we stayed at the hoteland also to charge for car parking was not acceptable when there was no charge previously
fabulous location and view of le cite staff made no attempt to understand foreigners even if they were trying to speak french
the location the service at breakfast was appalling
Impressive period hotel.Well restored.Dining facilities limited but food and service good.Situation pleasant near railway station and canal and within a good walk of the cite.
Good restaurant and whilst an old hotel it was generally well maintained Just a minor gripe. When you serve a meal and are asked for condiments it would be nice not to have ask two more times and not to have delivered when the meal is over. Never the less a good meal.
convenient location, close to station. Shabby appearance and atmosphere.
Hotel de la Cite is beautiful and the city itsfelf is breathtaking. Only one complaint - no a la carte breakfast and the standard breakfast for one person is 29 e or about $40! Only want a croissant and a cup of coffee? Still $40! An equivalent breakfast can be had in local cafe for one third of this price. So stay at the hotel de la Cite - just don't eat there.
The atmosphere and the cleanliness.
solicitous staff .... every detail considered, every comfort covered. grand hotel in the early 20th century tradition, elegant restaurant w/ elaborate service, though a bistro also available on the premises. Reflects & enhances the atmosphere of Carcassonne. None of this comes cheap, of course. Only comparable hotel we've stayed at is the Spanish parador in Santiago de Compestila. Most parking is between the walls of the Cite, a brisk hike to the hotel. The hotel provides a livery car & driver to get you to & from the parking area.
The position inside the citadel, the Barbican restaurant was fabulous, the grounds were lovely. You really could make a lot more noise about the position. The hotel is simply unmatched in the area. The shower over the bath was a problem, the glass panel was not sufficient to cope with the water pressure so it was very easy to flood the bathroom. They should sort that out.
Perfect location. Hotel staff pick you up from designated car park outside city wall. Well appointed hotel with restaurant and swimming pool and garden. Courteous and helpful staff. Even acknowledging the quality of the hotel and its locaition I still consider it very expensive. Also, and this is hardly the hotel's fault, the exclusive promise of the hotel is somewhat marred by the sheer crowds of people visiting Carcassonne.
perfect location, beautiful hotel
We were so welcomed & so well received that we immediately felt at home - it was a magical stay & we enjoyed every aspect of the Hotel & it's magnificent integral part of romantic Carcassonne. We could not fault anything - except perhaps the fact that massages were not available on Sun & Mon just over our stay.
The room was decorated beautifully in the french country style. The front desk was very helpful and the entire experience was very lovely.
Excellent restaurant - we ate there on two occasions. Beautiful situation, lovely room, friendly staff. No
The staff. The restaurant- Le Barbecane. The location
The convenience of its location nothing
A pleasant and comfortable hotel although the annex was a little dated in some rooms. The location in La Citie (Carcassonne) could not be more central. A great place to stay for a weekend break
Excellent location. Staff helpful with contacting doctor when medical problem arose. Breakfast rate was high and I feel should have been incorporated in room rate. Breakfast was average. Accessing the hotel at night proved difficult on one night as we waited outside for about 15 minutes.
The staff were extremely helpful and those on reception spoke fluent English. The buffet breakfast was especially good.We visited during the 'low' season and were able to drive into La Cite, right up to the hotel and then use the hotel's own secure parking lot.
Very accessible & comfortable. Excellent breakfast. Wonderful to be in the old City.
position - strcture
My husband and I found the stay at the Best Western Le Donjon to be a very acceptable experience.
Excellent location, Nice (if a bit small) rooms with a lovely terrace and peacefull gardens. Breakfast room was cramped but breakfast was good
The room was very comfortable with air conditioning ,the ensuite bathroom was very clean and staff were helpful & obliging. breakfast was extra and we decided to do our own thing
The location of the hotel, being inside the Cité walls, is excellent, though somewhat difficult to find! We were given rooms in building away from the main building. We were not advised of this before our arrival, and were somewhat disappointed. The huge beam going across the floor in room 16 made visits to the toilet resemble an obstacle course!!!
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Very nice facilities. The host was excellent. The location perfect for Carcassone.
We were made very welcome in this beautiful and comfortable hotel. Lovely garden and close to all amenities.
The building was formerly a residence of a bourgeois family. The rooms are decorated beautifully with excellent taste. Although the building is old, bathrooms are renovated and modern. This is a perfect place if you like the classical taste. I also loved this hotel for having good location, private parking, free wifi, friendly and very helpful receptionist. Would love to come back! no elevator
great location and charming rooms with a view of Carcassonne it's across the street from the jail!
Excellent location with on site secure parking. Very sympathetic high quality renovation of a substantial private house with excellent owner/host providing a high standard of personal service. None whatsoever
It is a high quality establishment with all equipment and services, new and in perfect condition. The host gave very personalised assistance and we appreciated his advice and attention. This was the best accommodation, of 8, we had in our trip to France. Nothing major. We would have liked a jug or kettle.
We had a wonderful time at Demeure St. Louis. Barnard, the owner is really special and did everything he could to make our visit enjoyable. The room was one of the nicest we had on our three week trip around France.
My host was charming and offered generous personal service. The room was spacious, beautifully decorated (a story of renovation) and it was easy walking distance to La Cite. The lovely garden was a pleasure to relax in with a drink and private. Private parking a great asset also.
We wanted a decent hotel near Carcassonne, hopefully with a little style and comfort, and Demeure St Louis far exceeded expectations. The owner has an amazing eye for art and design and every detail has been carefully chosen. The breakfast was delicious and homemade. The proprietor did not speak much English but is very charming and managed to help us find a good restaurant and feel very at home during our stay.
everything is good nothing
proximity to the city
Extremely friendly and helpful staff and a funky retro look to the rooms. Location is a bit non-descript. It sits on a main road far from the Cite and about five long blocks from the main square in Carcassonne. Better for drivers than for people traveling by train.
Was a great disappointment, the room smelled musty, ashtrays in a non-smoking room, the bathroom toilet placement almost under the sink ridiculous. The description of the hotel was a mis-representation, not close to anything. We left the next morning asap.
To be honest my partner and i were very disappointed with the Hotel. The room was dark, the shower was very old, infact the room, and the hotel are in my opinion ready for a complete refirbishment. We stayed in a Hotel very close a couple of days earlier.the price was the same however there was no comparison in comfort and facilities, the other Hotel was by far superior.
Bed was ok, room was a good size. No bath, Small television, no fridge. Very basic for the price I paid.
The Hotel facilities were adequate . It was very central within walking distance of the Mediavel City j.
It was central to our needs, travel etc. It was clean, the staff were exremely helpful. The hotel represented good value for money and the bed was comfortable. We would be happy to stay at Hotel Bristol on any subsequent visit to the region The hotel lacked a bar. This is not a complaint, it is a comment and the parking was limited. Again we benefitted and coped but the parking was restrictive.
The best thing is location to the railway station and access to airport shuttle bus. INTERNAL room and wet room with opaque glazed windows which did not open
Its location was excellent - very convenient for the city centre, the railway station and the bus to/from the airport.
It was just off the motorway. near the medieval city. Clean and welcoming. Great staff.
The staff and the evening meal were excellent. Breakfast a bit disappointing compared with our experience at other campaniles in past. Trivial , but the plug was missing from the shower room sink!
A really clean modern chain. Consider Campanile for any city where reservations are hard to get. Perfect for business travelers, the restaurant is a good value too.
Excellent staff always willing and able to help. Location of hotel is on a business park, but it is convenient for the city.
The staff is excellently helpful, courteous and friendly. I tip my hat for them. It is not common that I enjoy hospitality at this level. The food is reasonably priced for its quality, especially compared elsewhere in Carcassonne. (Just) some of the guests.... :-)
Room was very clean and comfortable. Easy parking, free wi-fi and tea making facilities. New hotel, so everything was in good working order The air conditioner was a bit loud.
Clean, comfortable, friendly and helpful staff
- great location, very close to the entrance of the medieval city - WiFi feels a little like a student dormitory
Reception staff very friendly Two things - double room too small and bathroom very small. Also I was disappointed to find no toilet paper in the ladies toilet on the foyer. T breakfast was very basic and not great value for money.
Everything (breakfasts, staff, car parking, location etc.) Bathroom was too basic/small, particulary the shower which was unacceptable. This would be the only reason I would not recommend this hotel
Location Could not locate on GPS
The staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel is very simple but extremely well positioned for visiting Carcasonne Cite
We went to see the Medieval Cite the hotel is very close and views superb. There was nothing we could fault we felt it was basic but very good.
Hotel staff are outstanding - friendly, helpful & efficient. Very clean hotel and close to medieval city. Breakfast is excellent. Very small shower.
the hotel was easy to find, very close to the castle, very brief walk to the entrance, there are numerous restuarants in the casle complex for evening meals. staff were very welcoming
Warm, clean, quiet, and perfect location for exploring the old City on foot.Highly recommend.
Good value for basic, low-cost accommodation
Sophie and Sarah are perfect hosts - always helpful if you asked questions about the area or needed to book taxi etc. Relaxed ambience. Good location. Excellent hotel design and excellent cuisine
great breakfasts and shower, accommodating staff nothing
The design is wonderfully minimal and distinctive, the bathroom has to be the biggest in France, indeed it was about the size of France Nothing to dislike, staff friendly and helpful.
Perfectly located within easy walking distance between city and medieval village. Strikingly modern for such a historical location. Service is superb.
the staff were friendly and very helpful. lounge with open log fire was very relaxing. as we stayed one night we have no dislikes.
Brilliant design. Lovely staff. Very good food None
The rooms were simply and very stylishly furnished, the proprietors very helpful and friendly, and the breakfast was outstanding.
nice grounds, good bathroom much too far from town. left aftewr one day and they insiisted on charging for all four booked despite plenty of notice
Very high standard relais, the setting is terrific, staff extremely attentive, the menu and presentation is good, restaurant is on the terrace - very relaxing. We really enloyed the mixture of formality and informality at dinner - the staff were informal the guests dressed as they wished! Fun for people watching if there is an extended French family or two staying at the same time. It is complicated to find, so call the hotel first and don't trust your sat-nav.
My nine year son left his camera in our room. The lady cleaning the room found it, front desk phoned me and a lovely lady delivered it to us at the airport. The honesty, friendliness and efficiency of this kind deed really impressed me and I shall recommend this hotel to all my friends. What we also loved was the way breakfast was served on the beautiful terrace in the lovely dishes, again by very friendly staff. Thanks again for a lovely stay
Great location and facilities - beautiful surroundings - hotel and rooms nice but getting a bit tired. Very poor value for money - bit snooty service and extortionate charges at times (€20 for a kir royal on the terrace, €150 for room service for my boys to get chicken and chips, a salad and a dessert each !!)
The staff were very helpful and the restaurant was also excellent.
Everything, from the rooms, peace and quiet, to the excellent dinner.
Beautiful facilities and very kind staff
Everything about the hotel was excellent except the price of breakfast! The hotel is outstanding, in a lovely setting, and we were particularly taken with the excellent tennis, golf and swimming facilities. Although the 'gastronomic' restaurant is expensive, there is a reasonably priced 'bistrot' as well, which we were very happy with. The price of breakfast was unreasonably high and we decided to miss it during our stay.
Good service, good food, relaxing atmosphere.
Comfortable with rather large rooms and a very good and quiet location outside the city.
Convenient for visiting Carcassonne. Not luxurious but clean and comfortable and friendly staff. Room small but comfortable.
the hotel was quiet and the room was clean and well laid out for a compact size.Staff were helpful. The hotel is well positioned for access and egress for the city. Road access signage was poor on the direction we approached form but much clearer from other directions.
The room was nice, as was the staff. The bed was very comfortable. It was within walking distance of the walled city of Carcassonne. The air conditioning did not cool the room off (the thermostat was set too high, and there was no individual control in the room). Even with the window open at night, the room was hot and stuffy. The immediate area surrounding the hotel was commercial.
Good accommodation and good meals. To have an English language TV channel a plus point. Could not provide a town plan and this was a disadvange given the location of the hotel.
The Rooms and En-suites are small and compact. They would not suit a large person.
