Close to all the attractions of Auckland and friendly staff. Lots of shady characters hanging out in front of building, party noise all night long, and smelly.
Maintained & cleaned very well. Excellent central location to events, trains, buses & shops. Great value.
I liked the fact that I was leaving early the next day I thought it was over priced, I could not control the air vent blasting cold air into my room. there were'nt enough blankets on the bed. The bathroom was unclean so I went without a shower and felt unsafe when I went to my room as there was no lighting in the corridor my room was located on. It seemed dark and felt dangerous with drunk people wandering around randomly.
everything suited our needs. We were at a conference and were only there to sleep and shower. It was pretty quiet for a central Auckland area. no
good location in the heart of the city If more staff in reception would be great in rush hours
Great location. Not impressed with the quality of the room and the facilities.
The location and staff were very good, and make me want to come back, Julia at Reception was very friendly, as were the others, and the young Canadian man at the internet was very helpful and a good laugh. The entertainment at globe was great too! price was a bit much, but other then that was great
Location The shower - I would rather use the coin slot type shower or pay $2.00 extra to have a continous flowing of water! One Reception staff causes long delay at check in time.
Price, location. No free Internet access.
The staff is patient & helpful. The bed was uncomfortable:(
Terrific staff service. I note "fair" above on cleanliness only becaue the carpet is showing a lot of dirt/stains - otherwise the room was very clean.
Kitchen facilities, but would not call it a hotel. Rubbish and cigarette butts on the stair case/ fire exit
Location and friendliness of staff Lots of noise from other rooms and from plumbing - no sound insulation
awesome location, cheap, lovely and helpful staff hygiene may be a concern, but you get what you pay for
Very welcomoing, very hospitable ,loverly staffs with great smile on their facese epercially the male staffs, consulting you all the time to find out if you are ok or happy and to know if the is any problem that need their help.giving you good advice on how to move around and see the city if you it's your first time with adresses of some beautiful places you may wish to visit. Nothing negative to be comments about this hotels.my staying was fantastic.
i enjoyed staying there because it was very central and had very helpful staff
Hostel was nice and clean, staff were very friendly On arrival they could not find my booking either under my name or my friends name. They soon found a room for us, but I would not like this to happen in high season!
Having sex with the misses on the top bunk with the windows open, looking out over the city. Small room, small bath room and the beds sucked.
Location is excellent and the desk staff were very friendly The Disco music from the Nomad's Bar was very very loud even four floors above and played into the night. None of the microwaves in the kitchen and one stove didn't work at all. Of the two stoves that worked one could only be turned on high. Cleaning staff slammed doors and banged carts into room doors at all hours.
It seems like a lively hostel, with a nice bar and free meals included in the price. The room was quite and was ensuite, which made the room a good value for money. The double bed in the budget double room could have been bigger for 2 people.
Everything was alright, but on the last day I found bed bugs. Need I say more?
Perfect for backpackers, but if you're a group of three or more it's worth it to stay in a better place, like the Mercure around the corner. Attached to a bar (though rooms stay quiet), Towels cost $5 (+$10 deposit), ''free food'' is a measly plate that you can upgrade to a normal meal for NZ$4, some rooms have no windows or color. No TV's. Great info about things to do, though! Two doors down from cheap internet, heart of town, on the AirBus route from Airport ($20 round trip). BRING CONFIRMATION EMAIL because the people at the desk didn't know what to do with our reservation.
This is a fun hostel so don't go if you don't like meeting people or enjoying yourself. Cheap drinks in the bar and pool comps where you can win loads of different things - Fantastic!!!
Definitely the best thing going for this hostel is it's location. It's right in the centre and within walking distance of all the main attractions in Auckland, such as The Skytower, The Viaduct, and downtown shopping. \nThe travel desk is extremely helpful. The guy there was able to give me excellent advice on what to do in the time I had in New Zealand. I was planning on a full trip around the country but he advised me to shorten my route so that I could spend time in certain places. Certainly no hard sell from him. \nIn fact all the staff were helpful and it was good that the non-Kiwi staff still knew what they were talking about and could point me in the right direction (or were certainly willing to find out if they weren't sure).\nMy room was perfectly adequate although some of the budget rooms had no windows (probably why they were budget)\nI'd definitely stay here again
Friendly staff, very helpful There were a few things that were falling apart or loose- the towel rod, toilet paper holder, latch on the window, etc.
Near to all amenities in the city. Nothing in particular
Close to town, walking distance to eden park. Little t.v that wasnt in view of the beds.
The mattress/bed is very soft and uncomfortable
walking distance to all major attractions, clean room, safe area.
I like the location and it was clean and cheap.
clean rooms, good location very tiny rooms!!!
good location helpful staff bed mattress very soft
Convenient hotel well situated, clean. Met people. Abilities of staff ( I needed an airport shuttle and in a few mn, the receptionist fixed it). It`s my 3rd stay in this Lodge. hot and humid at night in summer without a/c or fan, difficulties to sleep.
It was close to the centre of town and other services. The noise from a motel beside us was very annoying at 0200 in the morning. And there was no way to stop it.
Perfect mix between hotel n backpackers! Real nice place if you look for an affordable single room: Cheaper n cleaner than the ones I had in Akl backpackers! Bed, tv, desk etc as described. Bath n kitchen lovely clean! Free Internet access n free coffee! And a backyard balkony, sweet as! Well, not really negative points - just to be considered: Hotel's located directly at busy K'road, so rather noisy even at early mornings. And, hmm how to put that .. the hotel shares an entrance and one level with an adult amusement facility ... nothing bad though, you should just know :-)
Handy location, and front desk was very helpful. The 'single' bed was nearly a double, and where I was not much noise from the busy street. It is a budget hotel, but would have preferred more shared showers (only one for women and one for men on the floor) to be available.
staff are very helpful maybe provide a small lighting for late ppl coming back so not to distract ppl who's already in bed(esp on top bunk)
