I had stayed at the Barbizon before and found that it was still up to the same high standards as previously experienced.
Location is excellent. I have stayed in numerous hotels in Amsterdam and the Barbizon is probably the best. NO
great idea was the late checkout on the Sunday Staff very helpful and nice welcome on arrival- rooms were very clean and housekeeping staff did excellent job
the room booked was'nt the same room that was shown on the pictures
Location is strategic, opposite train sation and nearby many attractions -
Nice rooms with large comfy beds. Great location just across from Central Station and the drop off point for the bus to and from the ferry. Staff were friendly and attentive and the price for the room was very reasonable. All in all a great hotel!
It a good hotel. One of the best in town. Good location, good room and view.
It was so easy. Without exception all the staff were as helpful and friendly as could be. Service was first rate. Between them the bars/restaurants and Room service provided a good variety of meals and experience, no chance to get bored there. I found the level of lighting a bit low/dull, particularly in the bedroom. I guess it is fine if you only sleep there, but not if you spend time in your room.
Location Room was not refurbished
Location and facilities. It was a beautiful hotel. We loved our room. It was great!
The bedroom was very comfortable The first room I had was very noisy because the double glazing window was broken - they moved me to another room but I felt the first room should not have been available
The attitude and helpfulness of staff was very good. Cleanliness and presentation was good The location suited us very well The breakfast room was too much of a crush and could have been laid out better. The afternoon coffee and evening bar facilities were given low priority.
Great staff knowledgeable about area and willing to answer questions and provide direction. Rooms are clean.
location, nice hotel
WiFi did not work in my room (signal too weak) but worked well in lobby
Good colours, style of reception and breakfastroon was pleasant, fireplace at receiption were really nice. No fitness room at the hotel. Wholefloor carpet is not same style than other things. Corridors ugly.
Location Being overcharged/ They cached my deposit and failed to return it! (50 Euros)
The location and the quality, cleaness of the hotel
Excellent all round! Will definitely stay here on future trips to Amsterdam. No iron or bathrobes!
The staff are excellent I do Think Ther price is high
Hotel staffs were professional and polite. Free Wifi is a bonus! It will be nice if breakfast is included.
Lovely comfortable room, nice decor, loved the dimming lamps. We had to queue to check in, and after our long journey to get there, we were tired and wanted to go up to our room as quick as possible.
Excellent location, 3 minute walk from Amsterdam Centraal
Hotel's position, room's comfort Room's view on the station end the noise of train during all day and night
The free cookie, the Apple Mac in the room, the proximity to the station Courtyard rooms have no view, the restaurants and bars are expensive, all a bit impersonal and large scale
nothing Had booking confirmation in-hand. Manager asked a ton of questions, asked me to email her the confirmation, wasted a half hour till she finally told me the reservation cannot be honored because their reservation system was already closed, meaning they overbooked and refused my reservation after I already showed up at the hotel. They wasted my time. They were rude. They tried to blame me even though all i did was book online. They provided no assistance in getting a different room in the city. Awful experience. BE CAREFULL ON BUSY NIGHTS, THEY OVERBOOK.
Great central location. Nice, business-class hotel with good facilities and service. Ask for room facing courtyard, which is quieter than street side. Kayak price of $170/nt incl (very good) breakfast was great deal for this property.
Great location. great food, friendly staff. pricey
We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Amsterdam and couldn't have asked for a better hotel. Very comfortable, immaculate, great location, incredibly friendly and professional staff. Would definitely recommend this hotel for pleasure or business trip. nothing
Good location, big and clean rooms, nice staff, value for money
The location is perfect, walking distance from the train. We also walked both days from the hotel through the neighborhoods to the museum district and back. The breakfast and cocktail receptions were an added benefit.
I liked the location and the style of the room. We wanted to make some tea as it was quite cold in Amsterdam but there was no tea pot. We asked the service and it appeared the tea pot would cost us additional 6 euros. I think tea pot should not cost anything in the hotel of such level.
Good location, helpful staff, nice bar.
Very central location, clean, friendly, well-furnished.
Excellent location, which is why I would still recommmend it. Not particularly good value for money. There were rennovations taking place making the room a bit noisy duraing the day. 30 Euro pp breakfasts are too expensive and should have been included in the rate
Paid extra for lounge Lounge didn't have food available all the time Lounge should open at 5 am We were with my handicap father and the hotel lobby is handicap accessible but it would be a real problem if he had to leave quickly.
very nice hotel near Central station may the best confortable you can find in this aera
Very nice room, good bed.
The location of this hotel is excellent, easy walking distance from train station, restaurants, Red Light District, coffeeshops, regular shops, bars and fast-food places. If you're going further a field then trams are just round the corner. Nothing
It was near everything in the city no
Excellent location to have as your base for your Amsterdam adventure! Everything superb
The friendliness of the staff and the promptness to respond to requests. The room was alwas very clean. This hotel is in an excellent location. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again
proximity to red light district tv channels available (not enough in english)
Extremely friendly and accomodating staff; free minibar was well stocked; club lounge was also well stocked and had responsive (if not intuitive) staff. Our room had a great view. Nothing
Location very central Good breakfast Small room, tiny bathroom Room unclean, dirty carpet: when we first came into the room, there was a bit of paper on the floor. It was not hidden or difficult to get. I left it there on purpose and it stayed there for three days. It was finally removed (vacuumed?)
Great hotel in a great location. You are right in the center with a beautiful view. Excellent stuff and service. Great breakfast. Pricy but totally worth the price. Will definitely stay again !
Great staff, ideal location, room clean and well equipped.
the only thing i liked is the reception they are very friendly and helpful the room 302 is bad , the closet is very very small for a double room and the bathroom very small which makes you uncomfertable , and i had to leave the hotel after 6 nights instead 9 nights
localisation in the city and cleanliness of room
The front desk staff was excellent. The hotel was a pleasant surprise. I was thrilled to stay in a room that was large, clean and very comfortable. Loved the robe, slippers and balcony with view of Amsterdam Centraal! The location was perfect. Hotel is historic so parts of it are older but for the location and price I paid I would absolutely stay here again. Also I ordered a pizza from room service and was amazed. It may have been the best pizza I have ever had!
The location was very convenient and accessible and the staff was very accommodating. Our room was not ready when we arrived nor was it ready when they told us to return. The management responded with an upgrade at a reasonable rate and free drinks at the bar. The rest of the staff was also great. We enjoyed a bottle of wine in our room & the bartender opened our bottle without corkage fees, gave us crystal glasses to drink out of & even gave us some snacks to enjoy, all on the house! Overall a very great experience; we would consider staying there again! The front desk and housekeeping seemed understaffed. There always seemed to be a very long line to check in/out & ask questions. Rooms were not ready when promised although it ended up working in our favor as we received an upgrade & free drinks at the bar.
Perfect spot from which to explore downtown Amsterdam!
It was a very comfortable hotel in a great location. It was very easy to reach from the station/airport as well as being able to walk to many places of interest. The trams were nearby as were the canal trips. It was great value for money and I highly recommend it.
location facilities/pool/sauna great staff Airco or ventilation was a bit loud, but it wasn't a problem. Soaps and shampoo were in the wc, but no toothpaste. I'd rather have toothpaste than hand cream.
Location, size of rooms, First room I had was below ground level. I'll never take rooms 134 - 138 again.
The hotel was well located near the central station and around the corner from the main shopping streets. They charge extra for the use of the steamroom. €10.50 per person is outrageous when you have already spent alot to stay in a Hotel that is only average for the money it costs.
Great location. Very spartin, a bed, lamp, chair, and a small space for your lap top. No amenities of any kind. Liquid soap for both the vanity and shower. No kleenex or ice bucket.
Heating system is working loudly and the staff is impolite!!! Price is too high for this hotel.
My room location at 9th floor with nice view. Hotel location at city center Room service did not compansate what we used in the room for ex: soap, shower caps, disposal cups
It was close to everything in town for vacation. We traveled by train to Amsterdam and having the hotel next to train station made travel easy The price was high for what you got in a room that size.
The hotel is right by the train station and close to the places where tours start. The room was dirty in the corners and the shower was a bit grimy in spots. Neither our room nor that of the other couple we were traveling with was cleaned or towels replaced during our two night stay.
The staff was helpful with regards to local attractions. Located next door to the central train terminal, it was perfect for my stop through Amsterdam on my way to the UK from Germany. It was a little pricey for the amenities, but overall a good experience.
The location is excellent and very convenient for tourism two elevators to reach my room
Location is great - right on the train station in the middle of the central area. Small room, lacklustre aircon .
Lack of Coffee making facilities in room
Friendly helpful staff Unable to get an evening meal at the time I stayed.
The location. Staff always at the front desk. Selection of snack for a late night munch!! Rooms are very basic, not very spacious.
The facility of early and/or late breakfast; luggage drop-off; friendly and wellspoken reception; spacious breakfast facility. The check inn can be time consuming. This is very unpleasant after a long flight.
The hotel is right in the city center with loads of shops and cafes, always crowded and never sleeps which is quite exciting!
The Staff are always friendly plesent and helpful N/A
The room was as lousy as it could be but the cheerful, always smiling and very helpful staff, as well as the excellent location made the value of staying in this hotel!
Near central station, but no noisy traffic Room smelt of smoke even though I asked for non-smoking. Charge of 5 euros to pay by credit card.
staff lovely and friendly, location brillant.clean and nicely priced hotel.
location to station
All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the breakfasts were great.
Excellent access to the inner centre of the City, very close to the train station yet somehow not noisy. Good value for money. Confusing to find the hotel from the train station. There was no remote for the television, and the safe handle was broken.
Excellent location opposite the main station, easy to travel around Amsterdam from there on buses, metro and trams. Hotel close to the centre but relatively quiet and it had a 24hour reception.
Very pleasant and helpful staff - arrived early and room was available immediately Nothing negative
The location is exerlant, just opposite central station. The cleanliness of the room and the hotel breakfast room was A1.The staff were very friendly and cheerfull. The quality of the fittings in the room was exerlant. We stayed in a quad room, with kitchenette fridge and microwave, very usefull. no
Location,Informative and friendly staff
Super easy to get to -- just a 2 minute walk across the street from the train station. Inexpensive. Lovely staff. The bed had fresh, white sheets. The bathroom didn't feel super clean -- really the only thing I didn't like.
Location, Location, Location, the staff was helpful and if was close to all transportation. And many of the desired sites!
the hotel was very clean, staff very welcoming and it was in a good location.
Location is excellent, 24 hour desk, very helpful and friendly staff, quaint interior design, decent breakfast of cereal, ham, cheese etc laid out as a buffet. I had a "first class" room on the top floor overlooking the main road but I could only barely hear the road-noise and it wasn't any problem at all. There is a good lift so being at the top should not put you off. The room I had was quite narrow, I suspect all are, but the room made the best use of the available space and a for a short duration visit it was not a problem. I'll certainly use this hotel again for a quick business visit, though I'd probably look elsewhere for a romantic city-break.
The staff went out of their way to make us feel *ät home*.
location & friendly staff small rooms, but that's Amsterdam
Favorite hotel to stay at. The location is great it is easy walking distance from Train station to get back to the airport. When I travel I Have 3 to 4 bags (1-2 large 50lb bags, 1 back pack and a carry on.) it is very easy to drag the bags hotel. If you get in before room is ready or check-in time they have a room they can put your bag. What is great is that it has coffee shops and great food choices, if you want Restaurant food or fast food, they are within 3-5 mins from the door. I have stayed at the hotel 4 times and will be staying again next time I have a layover. The price is very fair and great location.
The location was extremely convenient--just a short walk from the train station. However, this hotel is not ideal for families--it's right in the "green" district and a block away from the Red Light district. If you are comfortable with that (the street it's on is busy and you can small marijuana and loud music abounds, there are a few drunks on the street, etc.) you're only a block away from the Royal Palace. We had to explain a little to our kids what they were seeing and kind of hope that they didn't zone in too much on the window displays in stores on the street. But the room was surprisingly quiet (we had a room for 4), though quite small, had good shower, good television, and the hotel offered free computer use in the basement (though annoyingly not free wifi). Staff was very nice and helpful. Would stay there again, but wouldn't recommend it for families if there are better alternatives in other locations. I wish the hotel offered free wifi. Free breakfast would have been a plus, too.
I liked cleanliness of my room. It was quite cold, as shutting the window properly was hardly possible.
Fairly newly renovated, but rooms shows already wear-and-tear. 24H noise from the party street outside. Serves no breakfast.
Close to the train station and within easy reach of all transport The room allocated was in the attic on two levels with the bedroom being accessed by very steep stairs and the bed required crawling into as no room to walk either side.
I liked the location it was very close to everything, I would definetly stay here again.
was very modern and clean. staff were polite and rooms were clean. would stay here again. good location.
Location based right near to red light district area. Which is very nice cuz of the location again.... cars cant go thru the street.
Very Central in red light district, easy walk from the train station. Computer available downstairs. WiFi was not free, i think for the price it should be.
only stayed for 1 night however hotel very clean and staff very friendly. Best thing is the location to the night life
Clean and Position good, staff nice enough. The worst layout of rooms possible, tiny rooms, no door on toilet, smelt of smoke, It would impossible to get out of the Hotel in an emergency.
location close to Central Station Amsterdam, very close to city Center of Amsterdam ( Dam / shopping streets )
it was central to everything, good view from our room and the noise from the bells wasn't as bad as people said.hotel had alot of character, fun to walk around it on a rainy day.
Location Helpful staff My room the heat/ac didn't work.....
It is a good locasjon Noice from the chuch bells
The location of the hotel was central to the main tourist areas of Amsterdam. The room was not very updated and located at the very bottom of the hotel. No elevator to go down and had to go down a few sets of stairs.
I must say the location was unbeatable for me. Very close to the Central train station and the bars around. The staff was not much friendly. I woke up afternoon due to jetlagging. The housekeeping had left already to clean up the room and change the towels. They couldn't give me extra towel. Indicating "the towel is limited". The room was so small and the bed was small and not comfortable. I wouldn't stay there again!
the bed! they got ecellent mattresses. the location is great, right in the historical centre of amsterdam ...
The location was excellent & the room was very clean & comfortable . we had a back bedroom & there was a church very close by which had bells chiming hourly- not so good at 7 a.m.
It was downtown.
convenient location, nice accommodations a little noisy during the night since the Red Light District is right behind the hotel
Location, breakfast Not making up the room during the day, therefore not replenishing shampoo, tea, towels etc.
It's very central location, friendly staff and overall hassle free stay. Too short, next time I'll stay longer!
The staff were friendly and knowledgable and the location was amazing for getting around, the breakfast was also good. The walls of the rooms were quite thin and it could get pretty noisy at 4am!
every time when I take shower, the water always go to floor.
Check in was easy and the staff helpful answering any question we posed. The buffet breakfast was varied and well stocked with staff replacing any items depleted.
close to city center and not expensive the room (single one) is a bit small for a three star hotel
For a city hotel, the facilities were adequate. The hotel staff were reasonably helpful.
Helpfulness of receptionists. Closeness to Amsterdam centre. Great variety of food at breakfast. We did find it very hot in the rooms during the night but appreciate others might not have.
The Avenue is a fine hotel for the price & punches above its weight. My room was quiet which was important as I stayed out late. It is also well sited a 5 minute walk from the station. Check out is at 12 which is good if you do not like being rushed.
Improve cleaner Small size of rooms
Central position within walking distance of the rail station and many of the attractions, good breakfast, very comfortable beds. Rooms were a little dreary because there were only wall lights in the room. Not great for reading.
Good location, quiet room and very good breakfast. Room was clean but needed refurbishing
For Amsterdam my room was massive!.Excellent decor.Spotless.Great location.Worth every penny..Euro!.Will be coming back
Great location, 2 min by foot from Amsterdam Centraal and shopping streets. Although the hotel is in the center, the street is quiet. Tiny room, bathroom is in bad condition, there was no waste container, the soap is in a very unpleasent looking and broken plactic container. I think that the price of 115 euros per night is exagurated, and should be updated due to the reasons mentioned above. For the hotel that says "No smoking hotel" there was a terrible smell of cigarette smoke everywhere.
It was a great location It was very small and not very comfortable.
Location Size of room
Superb for a short break, ideally situated near to Dam Square and Central Station. Room very clean a bit small but when you only need somwhere to dump your bags and get a nights sleep this didn't concern us.
The cleanliness of the rooms. Modern, updated, minimalist decor, friendliness of staff, location. No.
no room service the hotel bar is not even in the hotel its the pub next door not even a kettle or cup in the room .
location noisy room,no shower curtain !!! , working people are not helpful&downfaced !!! didnt like it at all!
security - doors and lifts required passcard. breakfast was paid for and advertised 7-10am. we arrived for breakfast at 9.30am. no bacon. no scrambled eggs. no coffee. refused to supply us with some. were told we should have got there nearer to 7am. refused to refund on checkout. will be making complaint to parent company. also, room booked(quad) is in basement next to a very noisy lift and a very noisy kitchen and a very noisy service room.
The reception staff were excellent, the location fantastic, My only complaint is the cleaning staff, although extremely clean on arrival, they did not service the room except for making beds and changing towels, eg; bowl shower toilet floor not cleaned. Wet rooms a bit of a problem as whole bathroom soaking. I would def stay in this hotel again though.
the shower had no water pressure and the water was cold in this freezing weather at night all the heating was switched off
The breakfast is very good and the location of hotel very convenient. The view from my room.
nice breakfast, large room in the annexe building charged connexion, snow on TV(???)... bad facilities in general
Amazing location. Rude check-in staff, loud, dirty
hotel location is excellent and breakfast was good. staff are friendly. I prefer who comes to this hotel without luagage. the building is old and not very comfortable, the cieling is too low. Safe box is 5 Euros per day is silly.
So close to Central Station. Good breakfast. My reservation said the cost would be 85.60 euros, but they took 90 euros cash.
proximity to Central Station; Shower curtain smelled really smokey.
Internet connection is for purchase!!! must be freee, like in many cities in Europe!
The hotel is well located being close to the station and all the city centre facilities, shops etc. Rate is competitive for a city centre hotal. Rooms are rather tired and need updating, so whilst Ok for an overnighter I wouldn't recommend it if you plan to spend a lot of time in your room.
The location and the breakfast included. No air conditioning, TV did not work, room was not super clean, the shower leaked onto the bathroom floor A LOT.
Easy to find from the central station and only around the corner from the highlights/restuarants.
As young group not wanting to disturb other peopl staying in the hotel and wanting a smoking room. The room given was very suitable for us
