The beach is amazing!
This was my wife and I first trip to Turks & Caicos. We will return because the beaches are beautiful but we will choose another resort. The day we arrived it was 4:30pm, local time, and we had made reservations for an Ocean View Suite. The room that was given to us at first was not an Ocean View it was a Garden View. Then the front desk told us they would put us in another room but it would not be ready for a while. When I asked how long, they could not give me any idea on the time frame. So, we had a late lunch at Hemingway’s the resort restaurant. The food okay but their service was horrible. A hour and a half had past and we went back to the front desk to check and see if our room was ready. The front desk could not provide me any answers. The front desk staff was extremely unorganized. The staff had misplaced our paperwork for the room in the hour and a half that we were having lunch and waiting for our room. After 30 minutes of two front desk staff members frantically working to check in additional guest and find our paperwork we finally head to the room. Atthis point it approximately 3 and half hours later. Prior to leaving the front desk my wife ask “does the building have an elevator?” The staff tells us “yes”. Once we arrived at the building where our room is located we learned from the bell man that the elevator is out of order. My wife is still recovering from a broken knee cap and our room is on the 3rd floor. The bell man told us the elevator was supposed to repaired the following day. Well it was not and I had go and speak to the manager the following morning. The manager went to speak to the maintenance team. Here is where the story hits a all time shocker for me!! When the manager returns she walks two feet in front of me and straight into her office and closes the door. She never acknowledged me. The front desk staff went into her office and asked the details. When the front desk clerk returned I was told it would be repaired on Saturday, it is Wednesday morning. Then I am offered another room (this our 3rd room in three days). I take it because it is on the ground floor but no ocean view. This one is a garden view. Then my wife is stuck in the half bathroom because the door handle is broke. She was in there for 10 minutes plus. I mentioned this to management and asked for the difference returned to my card due to the inconvenience and the non-ocean view, that we paid to have. Later that day after housekeeping cleaned our room I found a gift certificate for breakfast for 2 at the resort restaurant. This was an insult. I will end on this the evening staff at the restaurant and the front desk was much friendlier than the day. The bell man we had was awesome as well. It is a shame, this place could be great. The beach is amazing. The Resort needs some attention and the some of the staff needs learn hospitality skills.
Great place with friendly staff
We stayed here prior to our wedding in T&C and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Upon knowing that we were getting married they sent a bottle of champagne to our room and did everything they could to make sure that we enjoyed ourselves.
We received a free upgrade to a one bedroom right next to the pool. Hemingways restaurant was also great. Delicious fish and chips. The beach was awesome and never too crowded. We could always find a hut and chairs.
The beach
There were a lot of cockaroches in the hotel room ! And you can hear people from the room next to you very clearly
Brothers wedding, Value option!
My brother got married on a nearby all inclusive megaplex. That's a) not our style and b) not our budget. The Sands is very comfortable, very friendly, very professional, and down right lovely. My brother said his resort was too much like Disneyland. A 5 minute bike ride to nearby shopping area, we got simple groceries each day, and patronized local businesses. Make sure your trip includes a Thursday pm so you can go to the Fish Fry and hang with the locals. Highly highly highly recommend the conch chowder and pork stew (2 different things) at nearby grocery. Bikes were great! Rode all over the place.
The resort was fantastic. We loved picking staff for local places to go. TCI, in general, food is expensive (alas we still saved baucoup $$ on this resort). Saw some nasty American tourists. Don't be like them. You're on vacay. Relax for God's sakes.
Water Sports Equipment included in the cost of the room. Our room had a sitting area, kitchenette which were excellent bonuses. Pool steps from our door. Plenty of shade to ovoid long periods in direct sunlight.
If I mentioned anything, it would only be picky. Nothing to not like.
The room has everything for you. Small kitchen , patio and even washer and dryer.
Quiet w/variety of age groups. Beautiful beach. Great water. Conch dive was fun. Nor as expensive as I thought it was gonna be. Are out for dinner in at other meals.
Snorkel is far better at Cozumel. At least where they took us. Beach and pool service not great if you are wanting to drink a lot. Plenty if chairs. Umbrellas. Chk your bill one girl at the restaraunt tried to dbl. chrg us. I had a feeling as there was a mess up and they fixed it without probl. The guys were better and more friendly than the women.
Location, location, location.... it is situated on a relatively quiet section of gorgeous Grace Bay Beach. Since there is not a developed property on either side of the resort it doesn't feel crowded and it feels isolated in a good way. The palapas and beach staff are wonderful. The hobie cats and water boards are included and easily accessible. Our studio had a small kitchenette, which was nice. The room was clean, spacious and well appointed. Our second floor room had a view of the ocean, which was beautiful. The staff at the hotel were all very friendly and very helpful. Hemingways restaurant was very convenient as it was right on the edge of the beach. You could sit in the sun on the deck or under a covered area. The food was always delicious so we had breakfast daily and even ordered lunch on the beach. There were two weddings over the weekend but the guests never took over the resort. The pool closest to the beach was lovely and a nice spot to sit at the end of the day. Overall, we thought it was terrific and had a lovely visit. We would definitely recommend it to friends and would come again with our children on another visit. Great spot for a couple to get away.
When you stay at The Sands at Grace Bay in Providenciales, you'll be on the beach, a 1-minute drive from Grace Bay Beach and 8 minutes from Turtle Cove. Featured amenities include complimentary wired Internet access, a 24-hour business center, and dry cleaning/laundry services. Free self parking is available onsite.
